According to a statement issued by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Dickson Jere President Lula Da Silva is also scheduled to address Parliament before leaving Zambia.

President Banda invited his Brazilian counterpart when the two Heads of State first met in Rome, Italy during the World Food Programme summit.

President Banda is happy that President Lula Da Silva accepted his invitation to visit Zambia together with key businessmen and women who are interested in investing in the country.

The President has appealed to the business community in Zambia to take advantage of the Business Forum between Zambia and Brazil which will be held on Thursday to be attended by President Lula Da Silva.

Among the agreements to be signed include, the production and utilization of bio fuels, strengthening the National Strategic Plan for HIV/AIDS and technical cooperation in the field of sports and education.

The last high-level visit between Zambia and Brazil was in 1979 when President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda went to Brazil, a visit which culminated in the signing of a 30 million United States dollars credit facility to Zambia.

Brazil has the largest economy in South America and it is also rated the tenth largest in the World.

  1. Welcome to Zambia Mr President. I hope that you will work with your Zambian counterpart to strengthen south to south cooperation, and Zambia-Brazil relations in particular. And while here if you hear any noises from the opposition just ignore them, they do not know what they want for Zambia but for their families.

  2. Brazil’s economy is the world’s eighth largest economy by nominal GDP and the ninth largest by purchasing power parity – Wikipedia.

This is good news no doubt something good will come out of it.

  3. Here is a President who has shown AMAZING leadership, and put Brazil on the Economic Map as a force. This is a true leader. President Da Silva does not have the university degree the shallow minded “graduates” are saying is a necessity for the Presidency and leadership. In fact the man did not have the opportunity to even finish high school. Now look ar him- a world class leader, who has led with nothing more than passion for his great country and its peoples. If only we had more Africans of his caliber.

  4. #4 – Be careful with the implication of your statement – a Lula without a degree is not the same as you without a degree ( I am not saying that you do not have a degree, by the way).

  5. Iwe ChiAdviser#6, by saying that you have already offended Chinsali,Whats wrong with you man, think you are samrter than everyone

  6. Good news. Its high time our president got visited by his counterparts. At least, that visit will keep him put.

  7. The fact that Zambia is one of the African countries he is visiting is testament to the growing prominence of our country which would be put in jeopardy if certain individuals were allowed to enter state house.

  8. We welcome the visit of the Brazilian great leader.

More power and corporation between nations of the South!

  9. Was this in anticipation of Brazil making it to the finals (World Cup 2010) or a coincidence?? Uhmmm!!! Whatever the reason behind the visit, he’s welcome!!!

  10. So he was just invited by the comrade and not him neccessarily having seen the worthiness of Zambia and taking the first step….well, I wonder how committed and serious he would be ? and by the way, Brazill is full of European investment and can someone educate me on the strength of Brazil`s investments beyond their bordes probably that will raise more hope
