Withdraw Idris Derby lie, BY tells Sata

Share

PF leader Michael Sata

National Democratic Focus (NDF) president Ben Mwila yesterday said Patriotic Front president Michael Sata should withdraw his alleged lie on a Radio Phoenix programme last month that Chadian President Idris Derby Itno was in the country for a business meeting with President Rupiah Banda.

Mr Mwila challenged Mr Sata to withdraw the lie because he was aspiring for presidency which requires respect, honesty and statements based on facts instead of making unfounded allegations against his political opponents.

PF secretary general Wynter Kabimba referred the query to Mr Sata saying what he said on the radio station was not a party matter. Mr Sata’s mobile number was unreachable.

In an interview in Lusaka, Mr Mwila said following the clarification by State House chief of staff Austin Sichinga that Mr Derby had never been to Zambia lately, Mr Sata should exhibit a level of responsibility to the people of Zambia instead of telling lies.

He wondered why Mr Sata should seek political advances from telling lies and paint the head of State in bad light without consideration for the impact of the lies.

Mr Sata made a telephone call to a let the people talk programme last month which featured United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema and announced that he had information that Mr Derby was in Mfuwe to discuss business deals with President Banda.

Mr Mwila said, however, that Zambians expect a high level of maturity and integrity for opposition leaders in their exercise of politics.

Mr Mwila said it was risky to entrust the affairs of Zambia in the hands of Mr Sata because of his desire to tell lies without regard for respect.

He warned that the integrity of the country was also at stake if Mr Sata became president and urged Zambians to reject him in next year’s elections.

Mr Mwila said Zambian opposition leaders were not concerned about integrity which was the highest consideration before one can aspire for leadership.

Mr Mwila said Mr Sata’s intention all the time was to incite the people of Zambia against the Government and does not care how that intention is achieved.

Mr Mwila said Zambians should by now have started judging the quality of politicians and liars should be rejected even by their own supporters.

On Friday, State House described as malicious and false allegations that President Banda last month met Mr Derby in Mfuwe to discuss oil supplies.

Dr Sichinga said the president of Chad has not been to Zambia recently, and has not discussed oil supplies with anyone.

Dr Sichinga said before Mr Banda went to Mfuwe, his special assistant for Press and public relations Dickson Jere issued a statement that the president was going on a working visit, during which he was to meet investors.

  1. Sorry BY,this issue cannot be a basis for not voting for Sata, what if state house is lying;you are president of NDF,tell us why I should vote for you not why i shouldnt vote for anyone else

  2. #1 RB
I think you are mistaking him for Shikapwasha—-DOG loyalty!! rings a bell doesnt it

  3. Oh my goodness, the PF has sunk so low as to start issuing lies live on radio station programmes. Actually I am not surprised that the PF can lie in public like this. This the same PF that lied to the people that they’ll release real statistics on PF led councils. It is months past expiration and still no statistics.

The PF should stop lying. What kind of govt would we have should Zambians make the big mistake of voting for PF? It’ll be a govt of barking and lies. How is Mr. Sata going to carry himself when meeting other world leaders? will he respect them if he has no respect for other Zambians?

    I wonder…:o

  4. Strong fillers coming out of Chad are that the Chadian Government is contemplating a legal suit against Sata for his lie and character assassination of that country’s head of state. In his capacity as Zambia’s pathological liar, last month Sata went on Radio Phoenix to announce a lie in defamation of the Chadian President Idris Derby Itno that he was in Zambia for an oil business meeting with President Rupiah Banda at Mfuwe.Investigators have found that President Idris Derby Itno has neither been to Zambia nor travelled to any Southern African country in over the last 3 years.

  5. But Sata also, maybe people will recall the lie he puked before the 1991 election when he alarmed the nationa by claiming that KK was amassing arms in Sindamisale to stay in government if he lost the 1991 polls. When challenged to take people there to show them these guns he alleged were being stashed there, he bolted.

  6. Mwaanga claimd that foreign accredited diplomats breached the Vienna convention by airing concerns about donor aid utilisation in a manner that had the potential to set Government against its own citizens. Mwaanga should stop this “tenze banthu” mentality of his because for all we know, he was a diplomat in the 60s and times have changed since then. Given his very little education, failing health and drug trafficking, he should leave matters of diplomacy to educated people conversant with contemporary international relations. Even in his village where women are giving birth to “birds”, it would be illogical for people to ask for assistance only to waste it the Ministry of health way. Donors have every right to complain.

  7. much as there is great need for fresh leadership in zambia:-? Sata is too twisted to be president of zambia:o
    loose mouth and head:-\”

  8. Mwila you are just looking for a job and protection of your Congolese nephew Chiluba Mpundu Jacob Kafupi

  9. All politicians in Zambia have tendency to misinform,Mr Sata Iam sure will come out and admit that he misinformed the nation ! If we check the amount of lies politicians feed us during their campaigns one would mistake them for saints…

  10. Sata is a big embarassment. The Chadian goverment should take legal action against him. That wil teach him a lesson to verify information before he farts with his big mouth.

  11. Hahahahaha Sata the MASTER at work! Now ask yourself – what does it have to do with BY Mwila that it’s HIM who has to complain?

  12. Chad is a neighbour to Libya, and Zamtel was sold to Lapgreen,What if it was a secret visit can state house disclose it,as we all know its easy for the Lybia banks to transfer funds into Chad on the RB capital Scandal.Think outside the box. Why is Mwila Talking while there are a lot of people in MMD and they are just quite about the issue. Ukani Bakafikamba

  13. Please guys we can do better than vote for a liar and good for nothing Sata, I will NOT vote for someone who can cause instability in the country.Lets wake up.

  14. #18, so are you saying with RB we have stability in Zambia? If the nonsense we have now in Zambia can be called stability, then to h.e.l.l. with this stability.

  15. why is B Y speaking against Sata and not those who are “believed” to have received Idris Derby. I wonder many who are for RB reasons less than monkeys:-?:-?:-?:-?do you think state secret will be disclosed? take care[-([-([-([-(

  16. #18
You have now see the complications, one person can cause?hands off,it is really a wake up call.

  17. Ba red lipped BY since when did u become spokeman for Chad or Rupiah? What is at stake for you? Kamba bwino, unatapako muchanga waba Colonel naiwe?

  18. Sad.
Sad that Mr Sata can say things like this if he had no facts.
Sad that the State can deny something if it was true.
Sad that someone in the State passed on this information to him.
Sad that Zambian opposition politicians who really have something to offer the people fail to get any headway due to populism.
Sad that we may end up with a President who does not know when to say what, what to say when and where to say what and what to say where!
It is all very sad indeed!

  19. Why is Mwila becoming a spokesman for the govt and MMD? It is very known that Mwila is a finished politician and can only survive by aligning himself with MMD. What Mwila forgets is that the intleligence community have a ttendance of informing oppostion political parties about intelligence matters when they are not happy with the govt. Mwila and those of you questioning Sata about this information you are misplaced and belong to old politics of poverty. The world is so connected and easy to move. The Chad govt survive by each day because of Libya’s support and it is not what you guys are saying.

  20. Yes Sata has a funny way of attracting attention. And please we should be wary of such leaders, yes we want MMD out but not Sata please, cant one of the bloggers here just start a party we will be glad to join.We as Zambians are at a crossroad, 1: we want MMD out, 2:the option we have left is not viable at all.Yes we have to vote for opposition but we should be very careful about Sata, he may be worse than Mugabe I tell you.Yes BY has no right to interven in this matter but he is equally concerned about such an aspiring president fabricating all sorts of nonsense to direct people’s attention to useless things.I suggest ZNBC r Muvi tv to bring all aspiring candidates for a live tv programme so that each one of them tells us the developmental issues the plan to implement.

  21. My blog has nothing to do with the article however it will shed light on our beloved political parties. I visited the webistes of the 3 major political parties and this is what i found
MMD – as the ruling party i visited them first…..the page is still loading……
PF – the website, simple to the point. An article describing the King Cobra. However i found articles on Chiluba (I dont think King Cobra has ever forgiven Chiluba for not selecting him as his successor) and why he is not old as he is younger than RB. Not much about the party or its structures. Just pictures of Chiluba and Sata
    MMD…….. Page still loading….I’m a patient man, i shall wait………
UPND – First impressions, is that it is up to date. Has details on up coming rallies and details the party’s structure…

  22. UPND – Most detailed website available. Details the parties policies and its vision for the country. Criticism, not much detail on the parties other members.
MMD – Page hasn’t loaded yet….It’s been hour and no page. It seems their website is positively correlated to the manner in which they govern. You wait for something but it never comes……
From my simple website visits, i know which party i shall vote for.
MMD page still has not loaded……..

  23. Any way.. i’ll say it again.
LT stop writing or publishing such irrelevant articles on irrelevant issues otherwise you too will become irrelevant. I dont want to read such stories in the morning anymore please. Am tired and gives me a headache. there are so many developmental issues going on and views scholars like Professor chirwa have made that we would like to read, learn from and coment on. Why do you want to waste ink and our time publishing comments from BY,Thandie,Sata,Chilambwe,Mabenga, Shikapwasha all the time? Am tired. What do you want me to say when I read rubbish like this? So what if Idris came? So what if he didnt? meanwhile on othr blogs educative feature like KAFUE INDUSTRIAL TOWN conception and developement.

  24. ive noticed old bloggers hardly blog anymore.. I found some of them on another thread (you dont want me to say) and really enjoyed there contribution to meaningful topic- political or not.

  25. Hee..this red liped Mwila is a puppet of the MMD instead of being a president for his nashala neka party he has turned himself into an MMD cadre. How sad for this thief.

You guys , have you ever seen or heard of this MMD-thugs, thieves’ gonvernment ownig up to what ever they do? Thy are so secretive in whatever they do. They steal every second and when they are caught pants down still the denie it.

What ever Sata Said whether false or true it does matter , what matters is that information from the shushu was given to Sata. And it has taken weeks since Sata made this allegation, why respond today? It means the Chad thief came to share the RP loot.

LASTLY CIVILIZED ZAMBIANS ARE VOTING FOR THE PACT–HAKASATA. I will vote for the Pact next year 2011.

  26. On “Mr Mwila challenged Mr Sata to withdraw the lie because he was aspiring for presidency which requires respect, honesty and statements based on facts instead of making unfounded allegations against his political opponents” and following “Mr Sata made a telephone call to a let the people talk programme last month which featured United Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema and announced that he had information that Mr Derby was in Mfuwe to discuss business deals with President Banda… On Friday, State House described as malicious and false allegations that President Banda last month met Mr Derby in Mfuwe to discuss oil supplies” why did it take State House long to refute the allegation and why not ask him to show proof?

    Blessings.

  27. You fools there is no party called PACT and MMD will stand with either UPND or PATRIOTIC FOOLS.This entails that you should be ready for MMD in power again.so many time sata has lied and this ***** will never rule zambia and dont forget that its only MMD who has political scientists leaders to give you post elections shock by critical thinking. We can not give power to chameleon sata and arrogant selfish bustard Hichilema, never never even mukadabwa ba fikala..

  28. #38 You are the biggest FOOL! Dont bark too much, wait till 2011 – then we see what parties exist in our lovely Zambia land of plenty!

  29. Yoram Ilunga Mwila – koma ehhh! Desperation has now set in, every thief is jumping on the bandwagon of the master thieves (MMD) – bena bazamangiwapo chabe. Silence is golden, and these congolese (kafupi chiluba and ilunga mwila) are barking so loud to try and save their b.utts from jail terms when the PACT takes over next year – so bangosabaila like rabbied wild dogs.
Dont judge Sata, there’s truth in what he said – my friend at red brick confirmed the story. Its all about ndalama after RB leaves plot 1 in disgress.

  30. This an interesting article considering that it has taken quite some time to get a reaction from the concerned. Mr. Sata has on many occasions said stuff that people don’t take seriously. There are instances when he has said things that eventually prove to be factual. In my opinion, this man has an ear to the ground on the goings in government. In most cases people voluntarily pass on classified information to him without even asking for it. As it is right now, let the MMD government deal with this case. They know how to go about it if indeed the image of the state is at stake.

  31. And this buffoon Ben Mwila wanted (or is it wants?) to become President of Zambia? Why does the story concern him? He doesn’t have anything important to do? Cheap politicking …

  32. The onus is not on Sata to state the facts here. Let Rupiah Banda mention the people he met at Mfuwe. He met investors, who are these investors? If he does not mention them, then this topic is not open for debate as Ba BY is like gropping in the darkness. Is Mr BY under some kind of a drug? What does his party do anyway? Is he jealousy of the Pact and their prospects of taking over the leadership of the republic? What is his agenda and does he even have a national committee? Some times I feel like I am not from Luapula because of people like BY and his relative FTJ. They really embarrass us.

  33. I don’t care who says a liar should retract a lie, but I care when one who aspires to be President of my country opens his mouth to tell the Zambian people that a foreign head of state was in the country secretly. This feeling of thinking that because you have informers therefore you know everything can expose very embarrassing levels of desperation.

  34. Why desputing the statement now, when the issue was on air last month. There is no smoke without fire.

  35. What a comedy Zambia has become! The way one Michael Sata wastes people’s time telling lies and his blind supporters waste their time chasing shadows instead of developing themselves and their families. And what would be wrong with the Chadian president visiting Zambia openly if he so wished? He is not President of Sudan who is being chased by ICC, is he?
Come on cadres, use your brains to better yourselves than wasting your precious time.

  36. 45 Advisor, you couldn’t be more correct. Being an informer to the opposition seems to be lucrative business now, you just peddle all sorts of stories and the opposition buys it all and splashes it in the Post as headlines, and those who cannot think for themselves swallow it all. I don’t think that there is any other country in the world with so many dunderhead citizens.

  37. Lusaka, May 29, ZANIS – President Rupiah Banda has invited the President of Chad, Idriss Deby to pay a state visit to Zambia on dates to be agreed upon later through diplomatic channels.

President Banda made the invitation to his Chadian counterpart today(Saturday) when he made a stopover in N’djamena, Chad on his way to Nice-France where he is scheduled to attend the France-Africa summit which opens on Monday.
Mr. Deby agreed to come to Zambia and said he was looking forward to paying a state visit to Zambia .
During the stop over, the two presidents also held discussions on various issues of common interest and agreed to continue with their discussions at the summit in France .

  38. Ministry of Foriegn Affairs officials and Times of Zambia reports got gagging orders from Dickson Jere not to poublish the story, why?

If there is untruth in Sata’s statement why havent state house, ministry or even the Chad government refuted this? Or even tried to take legal action against Sata?

They are all worrried that the inner circle leaked this info

Instead they get an outsider (BY) to refute this, so that when the truth comes out they will say “It was BY who refuted, not us”

What has one got to gain by selling this lie to Sata? Its not a politcally damaging story, all Sata is asking is why they had a meeting and gave orders to ensure it is not published.

Sata is enjoying this because in a way he is saying “your trustees are informing me, therefore they are…

  39. Indeed. The president of Chard,Idris Derby will do well to drag Sata to court. But my advice is that he should do it next year at the time of elections so that sata can have no time for campaigns. “Fifwaka bamudala fyalibekata kulibongobongo.Abalefwaya bukateka bwa pa Zambia.”

  40. By the way, what would be wrong if it happened to be true that Idris Derby had come? I do not know why the fussy. Is there anything wrong in Zambia having business with Chard? The only thing I see that is wrong here is Sata’s lie.Hehasrunn out of polical ideas athe dawn of elections. “Tulemona nga yafika inshita yama elections .”

  41. sata is a crook and you he’ll just land this country into trouble. rb cannot be a good leader but is better than sata anyway. sata is associated with violence in chawama, money laundering in SA,against investors and now he wants to take over Zamtel when he comes into office, when he was in gov a number of companies were sold and he is was not saying anything about it. please zambians open your eyes and ears. shameless old man

  42. BY will do anything to ensure that Sata looses the elections because he knows very well that Sata is a no nonsense man. If Sata worn the elections there will be sanity in the nation, BY and Chiluba worn’t be spared. The enveronment in zambia is such conducive even for thieves who were sick are now healthy. No more Visits to RSA for medical check ups. Sata is not a crook. A crook is a person who can use your money to buy a tree that will have no use for you, an example is what is happening at NAPSA. Sata can not allow this.
