Sata challenges Govt

Share

PF leader Michael Sata

Opposition Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata has challenged government to tell the nation who it is trying to protect through weakening the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Act by removing the abuse of office clause from the Act.

Mr Sata warned that even if government succeeds in removing the clause from the ACC Act, there are other laws that will be used to catch up with those who are abusing their offices in the current government.

Mr. Sata said the ruling party should tell the Zambians why it wants to remove the clause from the ACC Act if it is not meant to protect those in government once they leave office.

He said the move by government to remove the abuse of office clause from the ACC Act would dilute the fight against corruption.

Mr Sata stated that government should make Zambians understand the reason why they should not question its decision to review the ACC Act.

Government is reported to have removed the abuse of office clause from the revised Anti Corruption Commission Act which it will present to parliament.

  1. KUNDA & The Judiciary

Only in Zambia do you have an executive brach officer who is also in the Judiciary brunch! This is the waste form of non-separation of powers ever! Kunda should have one portifolio period! Even LAZ seem to be blind to this fact! Kunda has nothing to loose before his death but to clinge to power in order to extend his life span for a number of months or a year thru GRZ sponsorship of his medical treatment! The guy will do anything for this sake!

  2. Its sad that criminals are regrouping at a dangerous rate in Zambia. These criminals are prepared to do anything to save their skins. But the question is,Are we going to leave this fight to the few like Sata and his colleagues.Zambians, lets rise up before our nation is totally captured by these crinals.Shame on George Kunda.KAFWILE UKO!

  3. I just cant figure out whats wrong with this sick man Geroge. Each time he is busy hurting the many Zambians and protecting the few corrupt criminals. This man is serving no purpose in Zambia, and the earlier he dies, the better for the majority Zambians. Its in the interest of the nation that we have a state funeral over him!

  4. BUSINESS yesterday came to a virtual standstill in Chifubu township when Patriotic Front (PF) members besieged the council offices to offer solidarity to their candidate Susan Kawandami during the filing in of nominations. VIVA PACT.

  5. zambian assets are being sold for a song

arrogance against donors, none morale, more and more corruption, impunity for thieves

the Mwanawasa legacy.is continually TRAMPLED !!!

I’m sure they will hang on power by ALL MEANS !!

  6. they are just trying to save their skins because they know soon it is KUYABEBELE

  7. You see, this is the reason the Catholic Church does not agree with the Christian Nation tag these MAMBALAS MAFIA MOVEMENT want to use in the Consititution. There is nothing Christian about these crooks. In fact they should just scrap the ACC since the main reaso it was created has been done with.

  8. #2. You are spot-on. ZAMBIANS can’t afford to leave the fight to Michael Sata, only. At what point is “enough is enough”, to Zambians? Because even RB’s touristic trips abroad (leave serious issues at home involving loss of lives) to me is enough. Now, removing laws to deal with criminals to me is grave. You don’t need to be intellegent or even having gone to school to know that these chaps are confirming to Zambians that they have (so called leaders), committed serious criminal offences and they want to protect themselves before they are ejected from office, come 2011. Fellow Zambians, lets wake from this endless sleep.

  9. Instead of repenting so that when they die, maybe God will have mercy on them, they continue to stealing and making laws that protect criminalogy. When I see Vernon Mwaanga,George Kunda,Fredrick Chiluba and Mike Mulongoti,it seems their health is failing,I have seen them on photos but I have no idea how they look like spot on.I hope they will repent because it will be like that bible story of the ‘Rich Fool’ who thinks they have made their money and now they can enjoy.I think its also true that maybe Chiluba wants to hear it from Jesus himself that he is ‘trully a thief’.As long as we Zambians think Chiluba and the current Government are thieves, then even in heaven its like that because Jesus told us that whatever we bind on earth shall be bonded in heaven and watever we losen shall be…

  10. BAILIFFS from the Sheriff’s office yesterday pounced on Lusaka-based freelance journalist Chanda Chimba III and grabbed an assortment of household goods over the K15 million he owes a Lusaka businessman Kaluba Maybin Chanshi.

The bailiffs arrived at about 08:16 hours aboard a white Nissan Diesel truck registration number GRZ 584 CA, and later proceeded to Chimba’s flat number 24, Baluvale Court in Lusaka’s Northmead area.

At the time, only Chimba’s wife and two children were home.
THIS GENTLEMAN HAS BEEN GIVEN TIME ON TVZ TO INSULT THE CATHOLICS AND HE CANNOT EVEN PAY DEBTS. THESE ARE THE TYPE OF BEDFELLOWS THAT ARE MMD’S SUPPORTERS. THEY ARE ALL THIEVES

  11. Mhhhhh, these thieves want to rape zambia left centre and right. They know that they have stolen a lot of our tax and donor monies and now they are preparing for their freedom from prosecution. But these guys are dull thieves really. What do they take Zambians for? Hmmmm bane I am so shocked that RB and his tendam of thieves have lost every sense of shame and now they can do even the imposibilities. They have become gods to wich every zambian should dance chikokshi. What useless and dull thieves GOD gave us for leaders? These guys must be red carded before they throw Zambia into penury. Maaa taaa…I am shokodi…….

  12. could someone help me is it the power of the governmentto remove or bring a new law as they wish without the approval of the parliament. All these mmd is doing is a sign that they are guilt of what they have stolen now are preparing for something, Zambia wake up before the country become naked by taking the waelth of the country to themselves.

  13. michael sata did abuse billions in 1992 ACC. what do you have to say mr sata. ngaku medical stores paying your rentals at farmers house. nga merzaf money you put in your personal account at stanchat bank. remove the chi log in your eye bamudala.

  14. Iwe marx #16, its either you have a small brain or you have non at all.

What Sata is saying is that they law against corruption should not be diluted to exclude government official.
This present law says that, Sata should be prosecuted if there is evidence that he was involved in “abuse of office.

Examples of those imprisoned include Gladys Nyirongo, ZNS commander Lieutenant General Wilford Funjika, ZAF Commander Lieutenant General Sande Kayumba, Zambia Army commander Lieutenant General Geojago Musengule, etc.

So what Sata is saying is that the Law should even be strengthened so as to effectively fight corruption.

The question is, Whay should Rupiah Banda and George Kunda amend the law to cover themselves. What have they done in secret that we don’t know?

  15. marx #16 u,a very fulish ! u such a u.s.e.l.e.s.s chap ! if rupia is yo bululu take yo small m.b.o.l.o to hell ! wat our president mr SATA is saying has alot of sense bt its only chaps lyk u MARX#16 hu cant think properly n its very SAD !

  16. what worries me is the young people in Zambia who have so much given up hope in Zambian politics. Just look at their profile on face book regarding their take on politics. scores are busy doing whatever(I mean literary WHATEVER) they can to get out of the country. that really sad and worrying:o

  17. Please have mercy on George Kunda. He will not survive a day in Chimbokaila. But he has the chance to avoid Chimbokaila by doing the right things.
Shikapwasha’s nose will get even bigger when he goes there. Has anyboody raised the issue of the $100,000.00 which went missing when he was Defence attache’ in Dar?

  18. It’s their time now,let them foolishly blind themselves ,the will definitely be answerable one day soon.chiluba kafupi did the same maybe they should ask him how it feels to be out of power since he is their political adviser and self proclaimed master dribbler,be it pastor or reverend LAZO NI LAZO prison awaits them all…………

  19. Ba mambala have messed up big time and they will do anything to avoid the courts when they are out of power. They do not want to be answerable for what they are are doing and not doing. It is really a shame to have pathetic lawyers like GK who cannot uphold the law at the expense of power. I hope the next How I wish we could have a system were there is separation of powers, our shitstem does not seem to work for the people and it is so easy for the ruling class to change the laws suit themselves! We have a lot to do for Zambia with this crop of politicians and leader, am sure Zambia is damn doomed for now!

  20. Justice Minister Todd Chilembo has explained this matter in clear terms. Just what exactly is Sata on about? Does he understand his own question at all? If he is a democrat he should support this progressive move by government. Laws should apply equally to me, civil servants and any other citizen of Zambia.
