Forty one thousand two hundred and forty seven people were projected to die in the year 2009 owing to AIDS related diseases, parliament heard today.
Acting Health Minister Brian Chituwo revealed that an estimated 23,554 women and 17, 693 women were projected to die, according to the HIV/AIDS modes of transmission report.
Dr. Chituwo also announced that the malaria annual death rate of malaria in 2005 alone, 7, 738 people died.
The acting health minister also adds that in the 2006, 6,485 people died due to malaria related illness and 6,183 people died in 2007 because of the same disease.
Dr. Chituwo further added that in the year 2008, malaria killed 3,871.
In response to a question by Batuke Imenda Member of parliament for Lukulu East what has been the annual death rate from 2005 to 2010 owing to the following HIV/AIDS related diseases and Malaria, Dr. Chituwo stated that the annual death rate has continued to go down because of the interventions that government is implementing.
And Dr. Chituwo has advised the private sector in the country to help government reduce on the donor dependency.
This was after Dr. Chituwo responded to how much donor funding has been made available to the health ministry between 2005 and 2010.

According to HIVINSITE, Zambia has a population of 12.6 million people, and a national infection rate of 15.2% (in 2007).
15.2% 12.6 million is 1.9152 million. It takes 10 years from infection to death, and 8 years from infection to disease. So 2/10th of 15.2% (or 1.9152 million) would actually be suffering from AIDS, which is 383,040 people. If they have 2 years to live, then in any year 1/2 x 383,040 would die of AIDS, which would be 191,520 people per year.
So if 41,237 people have died of AIDS, the real infection rate would be more likely 3.27%. (15.2% x [41,237/383,040])
Now if because of poverty the time from infection to disease is not 8 years but 6 years, and time from disease to death is not 2 years but 1 year, national infection is actually 1/6th x 1.9152 million or 319,200 people with AIDS. The actual national infection rate would be 15.2% x [41,237/319,200] = 1.96%.
Some food for thought. I do believe that there is something called HIV/AIDS. However, I also know that HIV infection rates in Africa have been and in my opinion are still being exaggerated for financial and professional gain.
This is big business, countrymen. Everybody is tapping into this “industry.” Just look at Banda’s elegance.
And you think they give a sh.t about the afflicted? Think again.
The other question is, to what extend does HIV/AIDS explain the deaths of the infected? Is 8-10 a magic number? Zambian? Weru!
I mean everyone knows that HIV/AIDS is big Business, so the more you exaggerate the figures the more money you get. And this money 90% of it goes to “Logistics”. I remember in one of the TV messages, our own KK said, “every 5 minutes, a Zambian is infected with HIV”. This is very alarming!!!
