Mpombo, Magande to face disciplinary action

The MMD says it is in the process of disciplining Kafulafuta member of Parliament George Mpombo and his Chilanga counterpart Ng’andu Magande following their refusal to exculpate themselves against charged levelled against them.

MMD deputy national secretary Chembe Nyangu said yesterday that there are no sacred cows in the party and that any member who abrogate the party’s constitution will be dealt with.

Mr Nyangu said the two MPs will soon be disciplined for their continued attack on the party leadership.
He said Mr Mpombo and Mr Magande should not think they are clever, adding that they will be dealt with like other members who have been punished in the past.

Mr Nyangu said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the two should not think they are smarter than the party leadership.

He said the MMD is a party of laws and that any member who goes against rules and regulations should resign as it is the most honourable thing to do.

“Almost everyday, they are in the newspapers insulting the top leadership as if there are not members of this party. I can assure you that they are no sacred cows in this party so they will be punished like any other ordinary member,” he said.

Mr Nyangu said the party had written to the two MPs to exculpate themselves but that they have not responded.

He said the 14-day period given to the two to exculpate themselves has elapsed and that the leadership is taking the next step of action in the disciplinary process.

Mr Nyangu said the disciplinary committee is following all steps in disciplining the two.

“We want to ensure that we follow all the steps in the process of instituting disciplinary action against Mr Mpombo and Mr Magande so that we do not lose out in this case in terms of technicalities,” Mr Nyangu said.

He said MMD members should not be swayed to follow the ways of Mr Mpombo and Mr Magande.

Mr Nyangu said party members should rally behind the leadership of President Banda as he will steer the economy in a positive direction.

He said there is need for the party to mobilise more members ahead of next year’s elections.

Meanwhile, parliamentary chief whip Vernon Mwaanga says it is indiscipline for Mr Mpombo to continue attacking President Banda through the media when he knows the communication channels that exist in the MMD.

Mr Mwaanga said Mr Mpombo’s outrageous and irresponsible utterances against Mr Banda and the MMD are unwarranted.

He charged that Mr Mpombo’s outbursts have a serious political consequence on his life.

“Mr Mpombo is a misguided political comedian who is hell-bent on committing political suicide by acting like a vuvuzela for enemies of the MMD,” Mr Mwaanga said.

Mr Mwaanga said the party constitution is clear on members that violate regulations.

  1. just dismiss them so shall feature mwanawasa junior in kafulafuta and dr yusuf badat in chilanga. two tramps bitting the finger that feeds them.

  2. We are tired of hearing you talking of disciplining the two. You know that they are doing the right thing and you are failing to find a case with them. What a nonsense especially you VJ crook. KK fired you because of your crooked ways. Your book entitled “Detainees Diary” speaks all of your dubious dealings. Magande and Pombo are just expressing their freedom of speech in a democratic country and disciplining them amounts to suppression and violation of freedom of speech. It does not matter which party you belong to for you to criticize the leadership. Mpombo and Magande can not be silenced because of being members of the Movement for Mad Dogs. You are the ones who are suppose to go to school to learn the difference between an insult and a critic.

  3. He said the MMD is a party of laws and that any member who goes against rules and regulations – What laws you Unipist? MMD is not in its original format and all rule and regulations have been thrown to the wind. You are talking now because the PACT is dead and Mpombo and Magade will have no where to go. Just go back to Unip and leave our Party alone.

  4. chiwamina galu kuluma imbwa not otherwise. why are you crying foul for Mpombo and Magande’s behaviour when you are in fore front of Supporting lebel PF MPs Insulting their Leader mr Michael Chilufya Sata.I hope you have now felt it as well.

You have used your MMD Courts to do that and please don’t cry this time arround. Its now your TURN to face it aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaahhhhaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh good day and enjoy mr Mpombo and Mr Magande’s Lovely comments.

  5. The MMD NEC had an opportunity to show it did not and would not tolerate indiscipline when Katele was caught up in legal issues which culminated with his recent conviction. He should have been told to stand down and clear his name. But no, because a good number of members of that NEC have been found wanting in their personal lives, they could not bring themselves to condemn a fellow criminal.

  6. Is this a new word “lebel”!!!!!? Never heard of it before. What are you waiting for, do not announce that you are in the process of disciplining them, just do it and then inform us that you have done it. These two guys think they are indispensable hence their behaviour.

  7. # 5 John Kalililo, correction please, Its Chiwamila Galu kuluma Mbuzi not Chiwamila Galu kuluma Imbwa. Imbwa and Galu and one thing. Study Chipata proverbs please before using them

  8. Can you imagine Mpombo saying such things to SATA in PF or HH in UPND?
The only stuff these two leaders ever want to hear are praises…
RB may not be perfect but he surely is a democrat.

  9. Displine them and let’s go to the battlefield. You even know these will be PF seats should we go to the polls. We’re watching
