President Rupiah Banda

President Rupiah Banda has advised young Zambians to build on good character as opposed to bad attributes. And President Banda has assured Zambian people that it is his duty, MMD and civil servants to deliver development to all corners of the country.

Speaking at the newly constructed Ngonga Bridge in Mbabala constituency in Choma where he addressed hundreds of people, Mr. Banda said it is good to be known for doing good things and not abusiveness, violence, and hate speech. The President has called on Zambians to be proud of the country and refuse divisive language from any politicians.

Mr. Banda said he is proud that he was voted by all Zambians to rule the country based on the fact that he is a good man. He said in order to rule the country one needs to have votes from every province.

President Banda has noted that he will go back to the people of Southern Province next year to campaign based on the good record of developmental work done for the people.

He said Zambians should support any person who can work selfless for the people regardless of the party they belong to. He cautioned that negative politics bent on opposing even where it is not necessary are not healthy for the country.

President Banda said that once elected, one must know that he is a servant who must work to develop the country and not divide people based on tribe.

He cautioned that, if politicians try to play tribal cards they will be stuck because Zambians are wise people who know what they want.

Speaking earlier, Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe said people of Southern Province are grateful to President Banda and his administration for the completion of the Zimba-Livingstone and Choma-Namwala roads.

He said the completion of tarring of the Choma -Namwala road in the district is a clear testimony that President Banda cares for the people of Southern Province.

Meanwhile senior Headman Kabeta of the same area said people of Haambwatu are grateful to President Banda and his administration for tarring the Choma-Namwala road.

The Headman said that for 45 years since the country gained independence, the people in this part of the country have lived with dilapidated road infrastructure a situation which made them feel neglected.

The traditional leader said the tarring of the road will help uplift the living standards of the people in the area. President Rupiah Banda is in Choma and Namwala districts at the invitation of the people to inspect the many developmental works done by his administration.

  1. The good character should start with the old people and then flow down to the young generation in a Top – Down approach.

Do what I say not what I do, he seem to say.

  2. On this: Mr. Banda said he is proud that he was voted by all Zambians to rule the country based on the fact that he is a good man.

Did all Zambians vote for him? Lie ! When you talking of good character, be an example. Lies are not good characters in a person.

  3. It should start with him to reduce flying everyday and concentrate on building the Zambian Nation by being in the Presidential Office 24/7 365 days a year. He’s a bad example to speak about building Zambia’s nation, instead he’s a good DESTROYER!!!!!!!!!!

  4. with all respect Mr. President, what good characters do you have to show the young generation??? let me guess …..non of course. i suggest you leave that to the morally upright people,if at all they are there.

  5. iyeeeeeeeeeeeee chilupiya….hw can u talk about behaviour change while u urself u don’t know hw to behave hw can u marry u granddaughter?the changing u ar talking about shud start with uuu uself.i thnk naunfwa!!!!!!!!!

  6. Good Character…to be corrupt?! After striking a deal with Chiluba and about to share the loot the president is talking morales to close our eyes. To HELL! And this road was never your project. Even if it was how can the president be happy about a road?! this goes to show that these people dont know what the are elected to do. Ok of course its good that we have this road but what about the money stolen by Chiluba because that money could build ultra football stadiums in every 9 provinces of our country.

  7. Good Evening

Good advice to begin with, Mr. President. It is indeed better to be known for doing good and not for being hateful or arrogant. However, we all know that words come easy and talk is cheap. This is why action always speaks louder than words and people will never take good advice seriously from any individual who can’t back it up with his deeds.

As for the young Zambians, I hope RB knows the problems that they face, how they feel and what dreams and aspirations they have. It would makes more sense if the president had to discuss these issues with the youth instead of preaching sound doctrine. We have enough churches in Zambia to do that.

  8. 9, 10, your wisdom is humbling…What enabling environment has he created for zambian youths to have good behaviour/character? Is he a role model himself? just asking, I know the answers but I wont subject his sympathisers to that reality!!!

  9. :d They put aside K40billion for the youths as from 2007!!! That money, no single youth living today will attest to the fact that they accessed the bucks.

“He said in order to rule the country one needs to have votes from every province.”
It is true, but ask all those who voted for you if they made a correct choice???????????
Here my grandma says takwaba, kateka ena lyonse ni mundeke…

Cut off those expensive flyouts and try to invest the savings in one of your best chosen ivestment, you’ll find that it pays.:d:d:d:d:d:d:d

  10. “Speaking earlier, Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe said people of Southern Province are grateful to President Banda and his administration for the completion of the Zimba-Livingstone and Choma-Namwala roads.”

Infrastructure development has been a problem that has crippled the nation for years. It is good that govt is taking another look at infrastructure development. I commend govt for tarring the two roads (Zimba-Livingstone & Choma-Namwala). This will surely ease the movement of goods for the people along the roads and will raise their standards of living.

That said, we need to pour a great deal of resources in ICT. This is a potential hive for commerce and a great wealth of information.

  11. “President Rupiah Banda has advised young Zambians to build on good character as opposed to bad attributes.”

This advice is timely and needed. This is great advice.

  12. #5 katalina
Sometimes people give advice from what they have learned. A mother once told her daughter not to sleep around. The daughter turned round and said, ‘What about you? You had me when you were 17 years old and I do not even know my father!’ The young mother said, ‘It is because I know I made a mistake, that I can now advise you not to follow in my footsteps.’ The mother died 2 years later and the daughter too. You can guess from what…
King Solomon gives advice in Ecclesiastes 12, and that after living a reckless life!
The best advice comes from those who have experienced life.

  13. ABanda tiyeni uko – what do you know about good charater? Nchito nikukamba no action. Ati tyala ma rubbish pa Zambia. Banda and his stooges are useless charaters time we vote them out come 2011.

  14. this man is a painful and very expensive joke, sometimes I wake up thinking he was just a nightmare but awe sure it’s true. Especially with the judiciary, he has compromised the gutless, the new president will have to fire the entire bench of judges and magistrates, castrating the likes of Hamaundu and Chinyama.

  15. This Senior Headman Kabeta who is grateful to President Banda and his administration for tarring the Choma-Namwala road as he says that for 45 years since the country gained independence; the people in this part of the country have lived with dilapidated road infrastructure a situation which made them feel neglected. Just wait for the cobra to come and improve your house, you will be dancing all night long! This is a road you expect a government to build, we shouldn’t be grateful it is our right! As for RB 9DOB 03/02/37) being age-mates with Mwaanga (DOB 25/06/44) and Munkombwe- I don’t know!
He lost the elections in 1991 the largest margin in Southern province!
    Daniel Munkombwe UNIP | 2,059 | 20.5 | 116. MBABALA | 15,307 | 44.6% Alfayo S. Hambayi MMD

  16. mr president you are a jewel in the hat.please can we change the constitution so that you become wamuyaya

  17. “”””””””He said in order to rule the country one needs to have votes from every province.”””””””” this guy got his 90% of his votes from the National Parks and Eartern Province. Comedy at State House!!!!!!!!!

  18. “…young Zambians to build character” when old people are their constant barrier . Pave way for them by moving out of the way

  19. Capitalist that is advise for *****S like you, boot lickers and scaler quantities like your boss RB.you cant even feel ashamed!that man only knows a plane and parting(Drinking) as well as women!

  20. So ati balanda…!advice my ******ass.servant to the people my foot, that’s cheap talk.
grateful for things we ought to have and deserve.what does he know about people who
are really suffering when 90% of the time his in the air!!!!
we want action from every leader that comes into power not singing baby
    class songs to us!!

  21. A sick and tired of seeing very poor roads each time i woke up in the monring, but copper balesenda every minute. What development my foot.

  22. the ministress of works and supply..mike namulongoti is supposed to commission these footbridges..you have nothing to do ..?

  23. Let Banda stick the advice where ‘the sun don’t shine.’ He’s not the best person to talk about good behaviour unless he changes himself,he’s definately the worst Zambia has ever had!

  24. Good character is not calling fellow Zambians that they are sons of dogs. Good character is listening to the Zambian people about the Constitution. Good character is marrying your age, not your grand daughter. Good character is not selling Zamtel even when 95% of the people of Zambia said NO! Good character is sleeping at home, not in hotels like a salesman. Good character is stopping to lie to the electorates for votes. Hospital in and road in Serenje area for votes, not seen. Teachers’ houses in Kasama, not seen. Road and electricity in Mufumbwe, not seen. Road to game park were animals live in Mfuwe, priority. Meeting with Chad President, secret. Sneaking out to watch World Cup, bad leadership. Mr. Banda, if these are signs of being a good character, then we do not know what good…

  25. Good character can only be seen in young ones if elderly people live an examplary life. How do you force the young ones to have good character when you elderly people are insulting each other in public. You call each other vimasilu and you expect the young one not to fall suit. The language that you are exhibiting in public has become a normal way of talking from young ones. Mr president, respect should start with oneself before others can respect you. We anticipate you leaders to tone down on the language as you are leading the youths. You are planting very bad seed in young ones. The culture of insult and disrespectful has vehemently eaten the moral fibre of our nation. There are children who insult publicly claiming its their constitutional right to do so. Bus stations are worst places.
