The Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) has advised President Rupiah Banda to follow established channels when responding to concerns raised by donors.
And the JCTR has also wondered why President Banda reacts to donors’ concerns in the way he does if there is no truth in what they say.
Speaking in an interview with QFM todayJCTR Deputy Director, Leonard Chiti, said President Banda must respond to donors’ concerns using established channels.
Mr Chiti was reacting to President Banda’s sentiments yesterday telling donors to pack their bags and go where they came from if they are fed up.
He said President Banda as Head of State is expected to handle issues in a sober manner.
Mr Chiti note that the emotions exhibited by the president raise more concerns from the general public because there is a message behind it.
He wondered why the President reacts the way he does whenever donors raise concerns on issues that affect them in some way.
Mr Chiti said there is no need for someone to react to an issue if there is nothing wrong in the way such an issue is being handled.
He pointed out that the President must learn to respond, to people’s concerns to instill confidence in them.
The Deputy Director noted that the president must first of all find out who is saying what, why they are saying it and make a comprehensive statement in response to what is being said.
Mr Chiti said in that way, there would be transparency and credibility in all that the government engages itself in.
Yesterday, President Rupiah Banda before his departure for the Eastern province at City Airport said Zambia is not a banana republic, telling donors to pack their bags and go where they came from if they are fed up with Zambia.
He said Zambia is an independent state, adding that donors should give Zambians the chance to follow the laws which they left behind.

Interesting when the president said he travels around to build good relations with our neighbors. From where i stand, a large part of our budget comes from Europe and the Americas TAX PAYERS money. What nature of relationship and what manner of hold does Chiluba have with RB? I see one theory here: RB has amassed plenty wealth and now he sees no need for donor money. Africans “ponta” when they feel they have acquired some money.
JCTR should have equally told the donors to also use the established channels than rush to the media. These donors have unlimited access to State House and as such should know how to communicateWhat RB id doing is just Tit for Tat.
1 Loose Canon, you are right. Rupiah Bwezani Banda has obviously amased plenty of wealth since he took over from the late president under the tutilage of Titus Mpundu “Chluba”. That is why is why he can’t shake Titus off, period.
What a sharp shooter!!! You have missed the issue of protection of ill-gotten wealth by Bwezani. What is wrong with your sharp shooting?
Banda is a confused guy who ascended to POWER illegally. I’m now targeting him for Levy’s death in collusion with FTJ, some defence chiefs in Prison and the pipo persued for corrupt activities.
Rememebr Levy’s WILL? He complained about threat on his life due to persuing corrupt elements. Little did he know that while he was aware of the threats to his life & his rule from plunderers, the enermy was working with the pipo close to HIM. Suddenly RB is busy rehab-ing FTJ when we all know including RB that FTJ was a little short big thief that stole from us.
The donors should also not cross the line we as Zambians are people with brains who can think we don’t go to their countries and tell them how to go about things.
The truth hurts and the President’s reaction to donors’ sentiments shows there is some truth in what donors say. This is Mugabe in the making.
What a good piece of advise given to a dead man. When did RB take wise advise? He is quick to listene to his wicked political consultant chiluba and and will never listern to the Zambians (citizen) how about foreigners though they are they ones who feed him? No matter hom much you bit a sick house to run fast, it wont. Until next year, Zambia has a vaccant office in the office of the president.
The RB is right. Tony Blair & George Bush Jr led their respective countries to war in Iraqi at great cost to the tax payers in their countries but nothing has happened to them. None of the international courts of law have requested them to appear before them to answer charges against humanity. Over 4,000 lives of American soldiers have been lost besides civilians and destruction of infrastructure.
Veteran senior career Diplomat President Banda and his administration has strictly adhered to practical diplomatic protocols for a long time yet the British and Dutch accredited envoys have sacrilegiously continued defying the Geneva conventions under which they have presented their credentials and are serving in our country. What more can be said about this when the world has seen a disastrously failed legacy of British Diplomats and their foreign policies from the hegemonic 200 years in India, Palestine-Israel, Uganda’s Idi Amin prop up, Shaah’s Iran, Sierra Leone and Kosovo to mention but a few without forgetting the disaster in Iraq.
Does our president take alcohol? Maybe he makes these statements while under the influency.
British Diplomacy has been nothing good for nation-states but a case of establishing ideological hegemony and rogue states.
This ka Leonard Chiti should go to hell, urone of the people being used by the west to bring confusion. Just shati up !
Ba RB, NIlekaleka. Ati Sata talks too much, RB i guess it is too much. Uletuka ulekulisha- nokusundila mu poto ulilamo-

Well the donors and members of the diplomatic corps have every right to raise concerns. they are however chanells and basic etiquete that is required. If this is not followed, the government has every reason to react. Just imagine any ambassador trying to tell the American, German, British leader to appeal against a judgement made aginst their former leader.
I guess this is the cost of running a poor country. Ambassadors and high commisioners try to tell you what to do.
PF i support you 100%. This JCTR organisation is a satanist organisation operated by the Jews. We know it here in RSA how it helped the Boers to manufacture weapons and provide intelligency information. Please don’t be deceived to think it is a Christian institution. No. They are criminals. Follow their histotry and how they were involved in assisination of John F.Kennedy bcos he hard a vision for Africa.
No wonder.
Please bloggers help.Does our Presdo RB,drink Clear beer or distilled sprits?I ask this coz he can not distinguish between what to say in pulic and private.
Ignatius Loyola formed the Jesuits as a military order with the stated purpose of overthrowing the reformation started by Martin Luther and restoring the temporal (political) and religious domination of the Vatican in all walks of life. In other words, he wanted to bring back the Dark Ages.
Baba all Zambian Presidents have at some stage taken this stance. Speaking with very limited legal knowledge I agree that there is reason to appeal the Chiluba case. But i dont think that the donors should be the ones to champion the cause
The mission of the Jesuits was the extermination of all heresy and all heretics. Protestants and all other non-Catholics must be converted or eliminated – either sooner or later. The saying among the Jesuits was that “It is no sin to kill a heretic”. This murderous justification apparently became their creed.
he drinks distilled spirits, one time he was so drunk in statehouse bar and called everyone fo a small meeting,he mentioned …ine ndine mfumu so 2mrow am firing army commanders,he was cleary so drunk that he could not remember the name of his commander, pointing a finger at his secreatary tellin him in nyanja mailo ukanikumbukisi to fire army commander….the president didnt actualy mean to fire anyone cos he was just drunk,by the following morning,he was reminded by his secretary what he had told them previous nite,..been the presidednt he felt embarassed to say he was just drunk and ended up firing the poor chaps,
I advise the jesuits not to take a,”holier than thou” attitude towards RB, coz they have more sins to atone for.
Africans are generally inferior towards whites ,it’s no wonder that some of you tuma bloggers are very emotional about RB’s stance towards these imperialists everyone thinks he should have kept zee. That donor aid in case you did not know is given because it is demanded of them to so under international agreements for the wealth they stole from us .However it is important to note that no country has ever developed with donor funds they enrich very few blue eyed chaps from institutions like the Post ,Task Force and criminals like the JCTR.
thats really bad
awe chaliba handsome chi ruphia.mmm nice looking man. i envy ka thandie elo am a man to make things worse, can you imagine?:x

I fail to understand chaps who keep saying Zambia is a ”souverign” state so we cannot be dictated to or whatever. Zambia depends on donor countries to finance a big portion of the budget. It’s just like a case of a struggling company telling shareholders to f…k off yet there is no one else available and ready to finance the company for it to remain operational.
Donors don’t want anything else apart from accountability and good governance and adherence to universal practices,if Banda does not want to meet those guidelines so that our country keeps receiving donor support then he should be the one to pack his bags and go. Banda is an Economist so he should understand well how things work or maybe his studies are out of date anyway!
Banda should be careful how he burps!!
I think the situation here is 50/50….the first question which one should ask is this ….why RB reacted on that manner……I think RB was right to tell the Donors like that…even them there should respect our country….yes there do help us —but there should help us with respect..we need them and we want to stay with them ..there is a bid different between the government and the donors …Donors should not get involved in government matters
The hatred that some of you bloggers have for anything catholic is frightening. We call ourselves chritians in a christian nation but if any comment is made by a catholic some of you bloggers go ballistic, it is very very sad.

THE PRESIDENT ONE FRIDAY WAS SO DRUNK AT STATEHOUSE,HE STARTED SHOUTUING AT EVERYONE TELLING THEM IN NYANKA ine ndine mfumu..me am the king…HE WENT ON IF U CHAPS U WANT TO PROVE THIS ON MONDAY AM FIRING ALL DEFENCE CHIEFS,CLEARLY THE PRESIDENT DIDNT MEAN TO FIRE THE,HE WAS JUST SO DRUNK…he pointed a finger at his personal secretary telling him in NYANJA PA MANDE NIFUNA UKANIKUMBUKISA KUFIRINGA BAUKULU BA ARMY BONSES…so on a monday morning briefing the president was reminded that he needs to fire the defence chiefs, instead fi his just apologising saying he didnt mean it,the chap ended firing them all…
LOL@ numbala 34. Wanisekesa mwandi “ati ndine mfumu!”
Mr Chiti (JCTRS) Please do not apply double standards. For many years now since the time of Kaunda, these diplomats have dified the geneva convention and do NOT follow established channels when airing their concerns and we have never heard anything from you condeming them, but when the President reacts (Kaunda, Chiluba & Mwanawasa have all reacted before it is not new) , you are first to condem. MY QUESTION IS WHY DONT YOU CONDEM DIPLOMATS AS WELL….PLS BE BALANCED EVEN IF THEY ARE THE ONES PAYING FOR YOUR CHILDRENS FEES AND FEEDING YOU THROUGH YOUR ILL CONCIEVED PROJECT PROPOSALS WHERE MONEY ENDS UP IN YOUR POCKETS. YOU THINK WE DONT KNOW!!!!
The Donors surely are worried about the difenceless common man and they do not want Zambia to be Zimbwenised! Wake up and smell the Nshima please. Banda and his clan are busy preparing for i) more plunder ii) rig elections. If they Donors pack their bags, you Zambians can forget about regime change and corruption will be the order of the day until you docile peace loving nature leads you to eating Banda’s s.h.i.t!! Then you will know. This all thing is the mask Banda is pulling over your face – end result is to let FTJ (a know thief) scot FREEEEEEEEEEEE!
There is nothing wrong in airing views against donors. Not all donors are governments but some are NGOs. When the UK government released the Lockerbie bomber, the US government officials made public their displeasure through the media. I am sorry that most Zambians think that the sun shines from the back sides of bazungus and because ‘abasungu baletele icibote’ then they should ride rough shod over our national sovereignty! We cannot just continue to take orders because of donations. None of these donors do this for charity, I can assure you. Some do it to ease their consciences, others for national interest and others to maintain ‘colonial hold.’
I am yet to hear a foreign diplomat from the developing country air their views in The Sun Newspaper in London or Le Figaro in Paris or The New York Times in New York.
Crocodile tears ba Jesuit. Does it matter to you when donors withhold aid? When it has suited you, you call for aid to be withheld.
Does it matter who causes aid to be withheld, whether it is instigated by Jesuit/Post/NGOs/some politicians?
I think that RB is absoultely right, these guys must be answered straight. It’s like a bully, if you don’t stand up to a bully they take advantage. If you stand up to them they think twice.
In the case of donors, they started the nonsense and they know better than to withhold aid in response to RB. Keep it up RB, that is what I want from my president, a president who can stand his ground, who can stand up for us.
But having said that, the fault is not with the donors but our hungry and poverty stricken journalists who go for a cup of tea to look for interviews. They think that if they show their faces at the embassies too often, they will be on named basis, will have direct line to the Diplomats and will be ‘heroe’ who defy the corrupt African governments. Well, when the war breaks out, the bazungu will leave you behind to massacre each other just like they did in Rwanda!
Mwata denounces Change Life Zambia planned demos
SENIOR Chief Mwata Kazembe has denounced demonstrations being agitated by Change Life Zambia (CLZ) executive director Frank Bwalya against the refusal by the Lusaka High Court to register the London judgment that found former president Frederick Chiluba and seven others liable for the loss of US$46 million.

Chief Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people of Luapula Province urged Zambians to take stock of any achievements and benefits that had accrued from the persecution of former heads of State other than fulfilling foreign interests.
He said the people of Luapula Province were grateful that the Government had taken a bold step to avoid perpetuating the prosecution of Dr Chiluba who worked hard to develop the country when he was pres
He said the country had lost focus on economic development and concentrated on bickering as a result of the prosecution of Dr Chiluba, and that dropping the case was an opportunity for the nation to move forward.
The chief said in an interview that the decision by the Government, which was the major plaintiff in the civil case, was timely because the case had been haunting Zambians for about eight years.
Civil society leaders merely wanted to cause confusion for personal benefits at the expense of national unity.
Meanwhile, the Zambia Police Service has said it will not permit the planned countrywide demonstrations and acts of civil disobedience being advocated by Fr Bwalya.
Commissioner of Police, Graphael Musamba said the police were aware of people hiding behind demonstrations in the wish of exercising their civil rights.
Mwata,
Thanks for bringing up the voice of reason from Mwata Kazembe. These moles of imperialism have no clue that Zambians have no forgiveness for traitors who have given their souls to imperialists. No one that ever aligned with imperialists has ever landed the trust of Zambians. If Sata and Miyanda had not signed up to the agenda of apartheid South African Boers and British colonialists against Africans, these two dreamers could have tested power by now. But in the face our natural jingoism, these moles will never test state power other than verbal power they are known for.

KABWA WAMUKILA!
RB has said this today tomorrow you will hear him change the statement and sound apologetic. what kind of leadership is this. Donors are credible men and women.if the president has any issue with them, he should discuss it with them in privacy, not the way he is behaving. We should forgive him may be he is tired after touring Namwala. mwailishibafye abenensu bendela mu ndeke lyonse.

#47…you just took words outta my mouth, thats exactly what I do, when i see the c.r.a.p from senior chipuba, my mouse flies over. I cannot read what this chimbwi writes. Anyway RB’s comments are what robert mugs style and look how his people suffered while he led a lavish lifestyle. If we arent careful tizakonka njila yama zimbabweans where they were buying a loaf of bread for z$5,000,000. Lets not have short memories like goldfish, lets get rid of this unfaithful, ungrateful, greedy old f.o.o.l who is living on borrowed time and wants us to die before our time.
