GBM’s wife battered

Share

Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (R)

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba’s wife Chama is admitted to MKP Hospital in Lusaka’s Kabulonga area after she was allegedly battered by her spouse in a marital dispute.

Police have since opened a docket against Mr Mwamba. When contacted, Mr Mwamba said he could not comment because he was busy in a business engagement.

According to a medical report signed by a Doctor Lubaki dated September 5, 2010, Mrs Mwamba sustained a cut on her face, bruises on the left and right shoulders, and on the left eye.

The medical report states that she sustained soft tissue injury and her cousin, Charles Mwansa said the family would not allow Mr Mwamba, who is also PF chairperson for elections to visit his wife at the hospital.

“Deep cut on her forehead and general body pains. Fists are alleged to have been used in the act. Beaten and assaulted by a known person,” states the report on the Zambia Police form number 32, which bears the stamp for Woodlands Police Station.

Police officers from the criminal investigations office at Woodlands Police Station recorded a statement from Mrs Mwamba from about 14:00 hours to 17:15 hours yesterday and she struggled to speak because of pain.

Mr Mwansa, who accompanied the police to the hospital, said the family had decided that Mr Mwamba should face the law.

During the fight, Mrs Mwamba was in the company of Reverend Edith Mutale.

Mr Mwansa narrated that when Mr Mwamba started beating his wife, his grandmother Lister Mwansa attempted to separate them but she was overpowered.

After the fight, he took her to the car and drove to Ibex Hill Hospital where she was allegedly beaten again before medical doctors and nursing staff separated them.

They arrived at Ibex Hospital around 14:30 hours where Mrs Mwamba’s family resolved to seek a medical report at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).

“But because of the cut on the forehead, she was bleeding profusely and the doctors stitched her face and then she was taken to UTH. It was at that point that we decided to take the matter to the police,” Mr Mwansa said.

He said Mr Mwamba would only see his wife after the court case was over.
Mr Mwamba and his spouse have five children together and have been married for about 30 years.

  1. I mean I really really want to vote for PF in the next elections but it seems on an almost daily basis they are giving me a reason why I shouldn’t vote for them. In developed countries such characters that hold public positions would have been compelled to resign on moral grounds. What ever the reason she was hammered I don’t think if it was justified for Mr Mwamba to beat up his wife to the extent of being admitted to hospital. And for goodness sake stop calling him GBM, he’s become too big headed with that name and money. What more if he was in government do you think such people would ever face the law? I’m also sure the wife has been beaten before but because of the money she can never leave him. Ndaba zako izi, you’ll die for nothing and you’ll leave the money to others.

  2. And this boy is supposed to liberate the Zambian people from suffering?

Why does PF only attract savages?

PF is not a political party. It is a group of savages who are led by a self imposed chief.

  3. GBM whats this rage all about. Dont embarrasse us in PF. You defeated MMD in Kasama, direct your energy towards the MMD in terms of campaigns to boot them out. You have exibited bad behaviour. We condemn BAD behaviour where ever it rears it’s UGLY head. Now MMD should not celebrate, remember, the cheque issue. When Mpombo was busy being convicted, Lucy Changwe their d/minister also bounced a cheque. Things have a way of coming around. Now it’s GBM doing a bad act, hope an MMD fat cat wont do the same. Imagine RB beats ka Thandiwe. Ha ha ha ha

  4. Thugs at home, thugs in politics. Why can’t this fool start fights with fellow men than battering his wife who for obvious economic reasons will still stick around? No wonder some women poison their abusive husbands, it is chainamic behaviour like this being exhibited by some so called leader.

  5. Exactly what kind of power does the police have in Zambia?

The article has a classic comment to point this out
“…When (Police) contacted, Mr Mwamba said he could not comment because he was busy in a business engagement”

  6. Shame on you GBM. and I wonder why you were swept into leadership. This man has been perpetrating violence for such a long time now and he thinks he is indispensable. I can never vote for such a person. I guess the cops will be very excited once the aggrieved press charges against him.

  7. INDEED, MWAMBA LAUCHING THE PF MANIFESTO ON HIS WIFE.CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME.AND A HEAVY FINANCER OF PF.PLEASE MOTHERS LOCK OUT YOU DAUGHERS!

  8. As Zambians we should not condone such behaviour – PF should suspend him or ask him to resign on moral grounds. We can not have such people as lawmakers. On a personal level – WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WIFE??? we discussed a similar topic just last week, in relation to the lady who works for the British High Commission. Ridiculous!! she wants to be buried in a fancy coffin?

  9. I like this”…..about 14:00 hours to 17:15 hours yesterday and she struggled to speak because of pain.”
Awe GBM alipuma abakashi eish!! GBM should marry Esther Phiri to sort him out.

  10. I had a girl freind and my wife noticed from the excuses I was making for coming home late. Then she decided to reported me to my mother and her relatives. I didn’t batter her coz I knew what she meant was good coz I was just wasting my time and resources on a person who I knew had ANOTHER man sponsoring her. This time am a changed person and have concentrated on my only one wife. Learn from me ba GBM.

  11. I challenge Sata to visit her in hospital and condem the perpatrator!! We should lock him up in a room with Esther Phiri for hour – we will see if that fat slob will survive!

  12. With an alert press, these characters can easily be exposed but with the partisan press the nation will always end up with wrong people in Parliament. Why not take up boxing ba GBM or become Esther Phiri’s trainer

  13. Another problem is that there has been this sad stories of PF MPs lack of marriage manners especially Mr Nsanda and Mr GBM surely you hail from regions where Amafunde comes from and then you embarrass your selves like this. I am not happy coz you are not only fathers in your homes but grandfathers. This has to stop at once. Please ba Sata you did well to consel these people coz it would have been the story today that ‘ SATA fails to consel his MPs – VJ’

  14. Nothing new here. We have always said that PF is a petty for Kaponyas and Thugs and it still beats my mind why even intellectuals can’t see through this scam of a Party. Worse still UPND thinks they can work with these thugs and Kaponyas. Amazing indeed

  15. Sad but that will not change my mind to vote for the PACT. These things happen in many homes despite not being reported. Let us wait for reasons behind his action.

  16. This man is a kaponya, the only difference with the kaponyas in town is only that he has the cash otherwise he belongs there.

  17. Ba 14# There are more serious issues for which people must resign i.e bouncing a cheque, shooting un armed person or failure to uphold the republican constitution. Infact we do not know whether the story is 100% correct.

  18. Ba GBM mulinshimbi mu chupo, 30 years!!! 99% of our male politicians, both opposition and ruling party have abandoned their first marriages, including 75% of our current and former presidents. Bamo ifyupo mashinafye, ama plot 2, 3, 4 etc on the rise. I’m sure most of MMD politicians batter their wives but our police don’t act on these cases for reasons we all know by now. I can just imagine Shikapwanya pwanyaling the wife.

  19. MMD Chief Bootlicker though I do not support GBM’s conduct, tell us what is more worse shooting someone in the head like your Musonda did, stealling someone’s wife like FTJ did or just what is on the ground?

  20. There must be strong reasons why Honourable GBM beat his wife. We must first get the facts coz some of these women what they do in secrets deserves serious beatings. 4 now lets wait & see

  21. #25, there is no depth to this story – it’s simple and straight forward. You are shallow minded to find depth in this story. Typical PF Kaponya!

  22. We need to watch the leaders to vote for in 2011. It takes a savage to beat an elderly woman with five children. What morals are we instiling in the future generation. Are these the leaders we surely need? Some MMD members are not perfect, but such PF members are pathetic. Education is indeed key !!!

  23. Once a thug always a thug. For once, only this once, I agree with Kanitundila, GBM is nothing but a bag of millie meal. Beating ones’ own wife of 30 years in front of his grandmother, children and grand children is mad cow diseased of the worst order and ordour.

  24. # 31 you’re right, banamayo ba these days ubuchende bwachilamo, even in high places! Naine kuti nalopola nganachisanga.

  25. GBM you are a disgrace especially that you claim to be a Christian! You should fight your fellow men and not a women who you even know has no strength to fight back. WHY DON’T YOU STEP IN THE RIGHT WITH ME AND I WILL FLY THAT BAG ON MEALIE MEAL YOU CARRY AROUND YOUR WAIST!! lolest!!!!!!!

  26. Sad behaviour exhibited by old couples like that..it seems this was a very pressing issue at home which forced the man to react so harshly to an extent of beating up his wife in front of the helpless mother-in-law. sometimes women force there husbands to behave like that and i would say its very unfortunate to end up like that. Am reaally sorry and these are issues that delay me from getting married…marriage is a temptation in its self.
learn to reconcile and solve bedroom matters within the bedroom…

  27. Bad as it is, if the person involved was not PF the story was not going to be so loud. Any way GBM should control his rages.

  28. Shodow Cabinet in the making:
    1. Willie Nsanda for Ministry of Justice
    2. GBM for the Ministry of Gender Equality
    3. Mark Mushili for the Ministry of Finance
    4. Mumbi Phiri for the Ministry of Home Affairs
    5. Guy Scott for the Ministry of Cultural Affairs ….

    PF Kaponyas, ….

  29. Ba GMB muleilumba pa mwanakashi…pick a man of your own size…..I may also say that this could not be the first time GMB has battered the wife…the poor wife has probably been beaten again…but not to this scale…

  30. NO.25 it’s good that he has beaten the wife after 30 years maybe it is a wake up call for her annivesary. CONGRATULATIONS on celebrating your 30 YEARS with a BASH on the FOREHEAD.
I havent beaten my wife for 10 years now I have just realised AM a coward both as a man and in bed.

  31. typical of pf and they want to form govt, pipo of kasama timid as they are foolishly voted for this fat pig with a dick that has been swallowed by his intestines. you will never rule you bafoons

  32. You see in Zambia DUE to lack of recreation such as wrestling – WWE, WCW, WWF even sumo wrestling these are now the results we are harvesting.

  33. #31 iwe shimabolo, there is no justification whatsoever to warrant the actions of this shapeless creature,if this thing had a way he would have divorced this sorry woman woman ages ago but what holds them together is the source of the wealth.the wife is a mwenso. if you are old enough you know what i mean

  34. i saw a program on TV where GMB and wife where TVed shoping in Sandton RSA, and the same wife was saying is very happy with GBM coz he can provide everything for her and family…GMB was test driving a Hammer for the son… I guess the poor women never meant medical bills to stitch her face up…GBM must publically apologise to her and familiy to avoid this being a political issue if not already.

  35. Honestly, people must not rush to put the blame on PF. GBM is an individual. I would have liked LT to have mentiuoned the reason for the fight. Yes it took place but why? She was battered hard for what reasons. GBM is a human being & rich for that matter, some of these women see a way out knowing that once there is divorce, she will run away with his hardearned money to a young boy perhaps shagging her right now. It a pity that zambians r actually tainting PF’s image. For battering his own wife, the police are already there and for shooting an inocent boy, they are not even there. Animal farm indeed. In any case, why is the cousin rashing to court when this can be resolved in a matrimonial way. Surprisingly, even the so called reverand was there during the fight. This world!

  36. But somehow, i dont blame GBM, i blame the wife. There is no need to rush to the press everytime she is beaten, for what? she is just embarassing herself. If she has had enough let her pack and go. Why cling on to an abusive husband? for money?

  37. #30 ulishilu, don’t you understand that Musonda shot an ***** like you but GBM did it to his wife. You are very dull. Understand issues before you comment. Wesulu we.

  38. Ati she was beaten for the embarrassment she caused him in the face of his party President. This story just gave me some hope in Sata. Thanks Mr. Presido for having tried to counsel this thick piece of sh.i.t, get rid of it before it spoils everything for you.

  39. # 13 sunvela. wantekunya. Surely charity begins at home ad thats the PF manifesto for you. All this beahaviour stems from the head SATan. Now assuming that IN THE VERY UNLIKELY event that Satan is in state house all catholic nuns will be slaughtered in the tunnels considering that Shakas has virtually join the PF

  40. Some of u r hypocrits because in zambia there are lots of homes were husband and wife batter each other to ensure there is discpline between them. One man was cut his dick by his wife ku neighbourhood but it was resolved amicably. 30yrs of marriage is a long time and i will not rush to blame GBM as a bad leader but a human being is a human, once taken for a ride, he may explode even the best of human beings on earth. The question is whats the interest of rushing to press, & eventually to court. I must say, its always good for old couples to stay together. Greed & selfcentredness leads to such things especially the women folk. Its a pit, like yesturday-if a man is wronged & forgives-then he is man enough but women are not called upon to 4give but take away some1’s riches like Tiger woods.

  41. I cannot believe the people who are commenting here and defending his behaviour!!! “Some women blah blah blah” GROW UP!!!!! What does beating solve?? There is absolutely NO justification for beating up your wife or any woman. Men know that they are physically stronger than women so it is COWARDLY of them to use women as their punching bags. Walk away and go to the boxing ring if you want to fight. Sha! Fighting in general bu fontini!

  42. As men who respect a woman we condemn what GBM did to her wife. GBM stop your useless habits as you are discrediting the name of the unbeaten PF. PF does not condon stu.pididy as evidenced by H.E Mr President M.C. Sata conselling you. You were conselled and should have listened to tH:E. president Sata.

Remeber that in PF we are not short of people, we can chase you any time and another people will win in Kasama. Mambala iwe uletusebanya. We dont want thieves and wife stealers like the MMD consultant chiluba.

So GBM, we are warning you for the last time, next time we will chase you .

  43. Typical PF thug mentality. Surely, what kind of shadow cabinet is this, comprising goons like GBM and Willie Nsanda? God help us.

  44. A family member yesterday narrated that GBM and Chama had been having marital problems and the latter had asked Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata to counsel her husband.

The relative said after Sata counseled GBM over his marital problems and told him to change his lifestyle, GBM was very furious with his wife for embarrassing him in the eyes of his party president.

She said when GBM reached home, he started beating his wife with fists and she profusely bled from the injuries.

  45. #45, you have nailed it nicely on the head that ‘what can you expect from a party whose symbol is a fist’. UPND has a chopping hand so be careful an axe can be used in case you misbehave.

  46. Ask me, after having been married for 11 years and very obedient to my wife, i discovered a young lady who gave it to me. I really got confused that i started wanting to chase my wife for her. I was only saved by the mistake she made on phoning me at night when i was sleeping with my wife. she was shouted at anfd thats how i came back to my senses though i still miss her but my wife has made up for what was lacking in our marriage.

  47. For the record, i am a UPND supporter and now a supporter of the PACT by default. Inspite of this, i find GBM’s behaviour totally unacceptable and primitive. For someone who aspires to be a leader, GBM shows very poor judgement and zero self control. To put it plain, GBM is not fit to be a leader. The signs are there for all to see, but unfortunately Zambians equate wealth to wisdom or leadership. GBM has been duly elected by the electorate so its upto them to decide if they want him to continue representing him. Sata and HH on the otherhand, must not repeat this poor judgement by giving GBM any prominent or frontline position in either their shadow or 2011 government. GBM is a big boy, he knows his foolishness should not damage the greater fight.

  48. Ba madam bafwile balepela naumbi, that can be the reason why GBM behaved the way he did but it cannot be an excuse. He should have started divorce procedures if he was not ready to forgive her. Ba Sata can make a good counselor, he must have a lot of experience and spiritually Rev Mutale was also the right person. There is more to it than meets the eye.

  49. If Sata becomes president, this is the kind of treatment we will all be getting from the police and cadres. Zambians you have been warned. This is hardly surprising behaviour from a man who is unashamed to espouse tribalist sentiments and who is fond of extravagantly flaunting his wealth despite belonging to a party that is supposedly pro-poor.

  50. this chap also thinks with his hands not his head. money has blinded him so much that he thinks he owns even ka PF party. its such behaviour that must be condemned even by SATA as he is the political father to this hooligan

  51. lmwe GBM is primitive, he used to be a client of ours in 1996 and when l went to pinda our monies with my boss´s wife he started showing off how much his belt, shoes snd suit he was wearing costs and how he can not fail to pay the amount he ownd and till today, he never paid that company…..with people like him in politics, its none starter….!!

  52. Maybe he wanted to do some exercise in order to lose some weight for the big fight next year. Apparently, you can loose a lot of calories doing boxing moves. The people of Kasama must be ashamed of themselves not only did they vote for an avowed tribalist but also a fat wife beater. Kusoba nzelu kwa Bemba ati.

  53. In conclusion, fighting is bad and beating your spouse is worse. What might result is loss of life. There is a very thin line between life and death and just imagine if GBMs wife is to die as a result of this beating. How does he relate with the law, his children and society?

  54. #67 dont insult the woman like that. The Post has explained how the fight started and for you to insunuate adultery is not right. Dont injure the feelings of the children, GBM himself and family.

  55. Even when Rev Edith Matale was there he was fighting, by the way is Edith married! I think there marriage has reached a nose dive because of the people involved. Marriage issues are supposed to be discussed in privacy not in public, it is in a mess!!!

  56. let the GBM alone I know how it feels when you are embarrassed like this especially in Zambia where there is little news on developments, they talk about people. Then, a brother to the wife should be careful about her talking he hasn’t been staying with them and am sure he has his own home.

  57. awe women should be beaten when they act stupid thats all i have to say! but keep in mind the best thing to do after ama fight is to make love. bane it will be the best u have ever had! live nachifukushi nizeee!

  58. Domestic violence is a NO NO! It is an offence here, be it a push or whatever and if your spouse reports you, then you will end up with a police record. GMB should be fined and forced to attend “Anger Management” classes. Even if your wife cheats on you, or she taunts you to get a physical reaction, violence is NOT the way! Is it true that some women will deliberate incite violence with their man so that they can have some marital contact? On another note, I think GMB is way too fat to have an affair… Who will go with that fat thing??

  59. “I regret to inform you that I have declined my appointment as chairperson of the Research Bureau of the Patriotic Front and resign from the party and Zambian politics altogether,” he said.

“My resignation is a matter of principle, because upholding the constitution of any club let alone a political party in a country struggling to democratise is a principle that cannot be compromised.”

He said he could not remain in an organisation in which it is okay to dissolve duly elected constituency committees just for the sake of making greedy political opportunists comfortable.

“I joined the PF in 2004 at a time when it was not fashionable to do so. I gave the party far much more than it could ever give me. With my education I could have easily joined the powers that be. Thus…

  60. There is no excuse to beat up a person. People make mistakes, however reasonable people try to correct these mistakes. This man and some of the comments on this blog make me very afraid of the society we are creating for our daugthers and sisters. GBM, as a kid I watched your trucks drive through Avondale with excitement, go get some help. You need counselling! Till then, no vote from me. To all the bloggers saying his wife is in it for the money, she comes from one of the wealthest families in Zed, she had money way before him.

  61. Leave GBM alone. This is all the fault of RB. He is the one who caused GBM to beat his wife because he has sold the country to foreigners and because many people are suffering. GBM was frustrated with the fact that so many people at Zamtel lost their jobs and so had to beat his wife to a pulp. RB should be blamed for the injuries that Mrs GBM has sustained. Also, the police should not do anything because if this case goes to court then it shows that MMD only prosecutes people from other parties and poor GBM will be convicted by those judges who have been bought by RB with the money from the sell of Zamtel. Poor GBM only beat his wife because he cares about the poor people of Zambia. Abash RB! Abash MMD!

  62. Lusaka Times is a MMD mouthpiece. This story is a personal matter between GBM and Mrs GBM. It should not even be reported. Why does LT only want to paint a bad picture of PF? LT is just an arm of Daily Mail and Times of Zambia. Am sure the Post will give us a true picture and show us how the fact that Mrs GBM was beaten up so badly is the fault of Vasco da Banda, the stupid peanut farmer from chipata.

  63. This is not about PF, it is about GBM ichilufumo ba GBM shame on you. Iwe niwe Chama uleumfwa that man uwalufumo can kill you.

  64. PF leadership! Shame on you! Nsanda marita saga, Mark Mushili money laundering, Dr. Mulenga resigning, GBM wife battering. We need sober leaders, MMD is no exemption only that they cover up their misdeeds.

  65. I think before people comment here on LT read The post online and get another view. One thing for sure the law should visit GBM…But there are a lot of discrepancies in the story published by The times of Zambia, so its better to compare and get a better picture. Then Judge.

  66. My heart bleeds when I look at how narrow we perceive at things. This issue only concern two people involved in DIRECT VIOLENCE. The perpetrator and the victim are tangible and known and the issue can be resolved in various means depending on how they want to resolve the conflict. Definitely its 95% of the conflict is non of our business.
I have said so because i believe that we should concentrate on helping the VICTIMS who suffer more and systematically die in large numbers (more than in a war situation) without identifying any culprit or person or perpetrator or entity to be liable and responsible. These perpetrators injure and kill many a Zambian yet they go heads high with no remorse. May the domestic violence in GBM’s home is steming from the same. Dont argue if you are limited in…

  67. All those looking for reasons that would justify this kind of behaviour make me feel ashamed of being a man. I can’t see any reason for anyone to behave like this!!! Wife battering is not right whatever side you are. Some of you PF Kaponyas should be ashamed of yourselves. Are there any ladies blogging and are supporters of PF? Think Twice my dear ladies, you will be regarded as lesser humans if PF ever came to power!

  68. #84 I can see you are a diehard PF Kaponya, unfortunately for you the Post has made it the headline Today with a big picutre of GBM’s wife! shame on you!

  69. #13,Berlusconi babe,

You hope too much in PF leardership.

The PF leardership will do everything to defend GBM instead of condemning him. To make it worse, his case will be settled outside the courts of law by family members.

Listen, there is no hope in PF leardership !. Look at Kambwili,s behaviour; no different.

People like you and many others will continue to be desapointed for long time to come untill you realise my point.

  70. POVERTY in wealth bwana GBM. You’ve poverty of wisdom. Bob Marley said in the abandance of water a fool is thirsty. Use your money wisely and buy some wisdom. It’s never too late. You can even pay for tutors to be teaching you from your own mansion. Now you’re embarassing everyone. Even the poor in society today don’t do what you’ve done. Be civilized

  71. First its Micheal Sata being caught with unaccountable forex at Oliver Tambo airport, then Willie Nsanda telling the whole world how his wife has the biggest private part in the world because of an ailment, and then Mark Mushili trying to swindle the poor out of K1b. And now this? Patriotic Front material. This party is really full of savages I tell you.Just imagine this bag of mellie meal called GBM addressing the nation as our VIP flanked by cabinet ministers, Wilie Nsanda, Mark Mushili, and Kambwili.

  72. One of my lecturers once told us in class, “ If I ever hear that you are fighting with you wife or a woman, I will immediately know that you are the one who’s wrong ! . And it is true for any educated man, as far as I know.

  73. #88 Are you saying that less people would be dying in Zambia if we had a war? Are you also saying the likes of GBM are the ones who will make the lives of all those suffering Zambians (who are dying more than in a war situation) better?

  74. #92 WE CAN GBM NOT EVEN GRADE 7 HE IS JUST A BEANS BOY NOW OWNER OF MARCOPOLO BUSES HE GOT PA NKONGOLE. GBM LISAKA JUST LIKE HIS SUPPORTERS.

  75. I think the man is just frustrated because he is too fat and is no longer able to perform. Any man who beats his wife must have feelings of inadequacy.

  76. There is no justification to beating your wife, apart from cowardice in GBM. Shame on you man who cannot reason with a wife hence you resort to beating. I will make sure you lose all the votes from women because you are not fit to be a leader who can can protect their rights. Useless fat man!, who do you think you are on earth. Your wife is also an adult like you and if you do not know beating her can just make her more stuborn. Get civilised for once, we know you are a villager with low thinking capacity as evidenced from your actions, but you can make things better by joining the civilised who do not beat their wives. On my dead, I can never vote for a tyrane like you.

  77. Ati he was trying to show his wife that he loves her. That is how he will explain his actions to PF kaponyas – worse thing is that they will believe him.

  78. #CHINGOLONGOLO
My I trying to point out that I would rather concentrate on alleviating poverty and preventable deaths and injuries on victims whose perpetrators are hard to pin point. Statistics has it that they die in numbers as compared to those afflicted by was directly. Talking about the privace of GBM is secondary to me when I think of how many a Zambian are violently injured everyday by upholding wrong policies that are slowly but in large numbers killing our beloved brothers and sisters without knowing the perpetrator. People injured in various forms e.g through poverty and destitution. Thousands of zambians are dying from preventable diseases yet no body has time to talk about the saga. Why waste time chatting about GBM WHEN TOMORROW I KNOW I WILL NEXT ON MY WAY TO THE UNKNOWN…

  79. The key word is ‘fight’, surely this woman also battered the husband
. Wheres the outcry in the woman landing blows on her husband? If GBM had been beaten this wouldn’t have been an issue. You feminists and fellow men who have cut off your gonads are you forgetting that women fought for equal rights and to be equal to men. Why is a woman somehow not equal after losing a fight.

  80. #83,uncultured bemba tribalist.you belong to a thug party,kambwili,nsanda,gbm,mumbi phiri,jean kapata, mark mushili,pure criminals,they will never rule amabala

  81. GBM may be wealthy but he’s a primate inside out! This is’nt the first time he’s physically and emotionally abused his wife Chama. He’s been doing this routinely over many years. What’s even more shocking is that he clobber’s and insults his wife in the presence of their kids and grand kids! Unfortunately, for our women folk, leaving such a chap can be economically hard especially in Zed where the courts will give you peanuts in the case of divorce.

  82. #105 I see your point but I still have issue with your assertion that more people in Zambia are dying through unseen causes than if we had had a war. Yes many people in Zambia (as in other developing countries) die of preventable diseases but to say more are dying than in a war situation is pushing it a bit too far dont you think? To give an example, last year in April, the WHO reported that deaths from malaria had dropped by 66% due to the Roll back Malaria programme which seeked to reduce by 50% the figure of deaths attributed to malaria in 2000. A lot still needs to be done but exaggerating figures is of no use to anybody.

  83. GBM is a Kaponya like Sata. He is an *****. He is too fat to even see his dick! Chikala why should you beat your wife of 30 years like that ******we. You are a fool and even your party President is toothless because you don’t take him seriously. You went ahead and and clobbered your wife after your so-called party president tried to counsel you. M******mwe bafikala!

  84. I like the picture that LT used to cover this story. It feels me with so much confidence in PF. That is the leadership that will take us Bembas forward. How can we be ruled by a Ngoni?

  85. #109 Iwe chimutinta all those people you have mentioned are better than all of you dull tongas put together. That is why we will spit you out like a chewed bone after we use you to get to state house. It is a good thing you are all stupid and you dont even see what game we are playing.

  86. I do not support the idea of beating his wife. But, some bloggers seem to be holier than thou. Its just because this is on open air. I am pretty sure there are more incidents of such nature in most houses in Zambia-especially with such high poverty levels. I am not saying GBM is poverty striken. Bloggers, don’t act and comment like you are angels. Once again what GBM did wasn’t good.

  87. Fwe Ba Bemba twalishiba ati it is MMD that paid that woman to provoke her husband so that he could beat her up to make PF look bad. It wont work. We are still behind you GBM. Myself and father Bwalya will be showing a red card to your wife and her stupid family.

  88. The bone of contention here is GBM’s excessive womanizing. I even wonder where a chap with such a deformed pot belly gets the energy to be humping tuma young chicks. He probably runs out of breath after the first few strokes! The plump chap needs drastic gastric bypass surgery otherwise diabetes /or heart attack will get the better of him.

  89. How can we have such cruel men leading Zambia after 2011; won’t it be chaos? Differences are part of marriage but MUST be resolved amicably and with love, NOT punches. Ba court mukakeni so he knows money can’t buy him freedom. Give this case to the corruption free magistrate Kafunda.

  90. Plump? No, GBM is obese. back to the issue, i think this is sign enough in PF’s propensity to violence/insults as a way of solving problems. Willie Nsanada just a few monhs ago insultd his ‘bitcch’ ex wife in public, in court. I have very low epectation from these chaps. Even I beat up the doc kaseba from time to time lol

  91. Please MMD take advantage of this opportunity, this is agood ‘Mpombo’ moment to get GBM arrested. William banda ust be relishing the potential to arrest this chap using ‘legitimate’ reasons….

  92. Please MMD take advantage of this opportunity, this is agood ‘Mpombo’ moment to get GBM arrested. William Banda must be relishing the potential to arrest this chap using ‘legitimate’ reasons….

  93. #76 Please, Rev. Edith Mutale is a widow. Chama has been GBM’s punchbag for many years, surprising that she never left him.

  94. SURELY HOW DO YOU RAISE A FIST AGAINST A WOMAN? WHATEVER THE CASE IS. RESIGN ON MORAL GROUNDS! PLEASE UPND-PF PACT ORGANIZE DEMONSTRATIONS AND HOUND GBM OUT OF OFFICE. HOW WILL SUCH A PERSON LEAD THE NATION?

  95. Get the facts before you critisez this man. Why was she battered in the first place? Its natural at times to beat her if she has been perpetually been arogant to her husband.

  96. Well, they should lock him up in Chimbokaila so that a top dog can savagely sordomize his fat prat until he pukes his voluptuous bowels saturated with “akabwali ka tute”. Such wild animal behavior should never be tolerated regardless of who is orchestrating it, especially from an MP. Imagine what an insult to all Bembas, the representative of Kasama, battering his wife senseless like this. Has Chama been my sister, we would be talking about GBM in the past tense by name, I would have disemboweled “ubunangwa bonse” from that slumbering “bongo” of his.

  97. Looks like most fights stem from money issues in a home. Those who live in middle classes rarely have fights. One thing i know about women is that, you cannot take them away from the smell of money. Even if the guy is infertile or impotent or has erectile problems or his d.i.c.k looks like a pencil when its at full load. I must be educated why, on the other hand sex for them forms part of their livelihood such that if she doesnt get it right from the hubby or he doesnt reach the furthest corners of the fallopian tubes or pleasure cannals then hell breaks loose. One man was told after all you cant even reach one round pa bed by his own wife of 5 children in the midst of neighbours. Well! They are a weak vessel surely. He nearly sunk in earth of shame. Its ok to have fought with yo wife once

  98. Atase, chi sekuru Mugabe! You belong to the stone age where women were battered everyday and this dos not work in this age you’re clinging on to. We all know Marufu is bossing you around everyday and is busy nailing young chaps including ka Morgan whence your gender bigotry against women. I hope some Chinese chap in Hong Kong is sooner than later going to practice karate on your daughter at studying at Hong Kong University.

  99. PF hooligans..i wonder what would happen if they got into power..?rape all the women in the opposition..hahahaha

  100. Those of you who have never fought at least you will fight someday because its one way of kuziba that both of you are being real. Marriage must not be a pretence club such that if your husband is ranting carelesly or shaggs some girls somewhere then ku mulekelela,No. Beat him nga nalala muma kufi na sando. He may learn it well & that means you were just being real as a human being. For men, if your wife talks like a faulty valve oozing water or like a pig on heat-she needs one,not two or three punches, then she will get some healing from her ailment. Life is not what you read in books because what we read is what people dont do. Its not an enginnering class where you may be able to deduce your own findings apart from newton’s. Its philosophy-its different all the time with opposit sex.

  101. GBM, 200 kilos of fat and brain size of isuku. He should have just sat on the wife and no charges could have been filed. Any way sad situation .Sick man****er.

  102. You can see from his postings #135 140 why GeorgeWbush is a pf kaponya. Can we really leave the country in the hands of people like him?

  103. From now on, may only those who are married comment on this article. Tuma bachelors do not anything at all, let alone be scared of marrying an individiual who you opt or accept to stay with as open as yourself including knowing how dark your ass is. Its a challenge, & being there for 30yrs is not a joke. Thumbs up GBM & this is not to say they must divorce, divorce is the last option & actually not even an option.people must not rash to divorcing because divorce affects a lot of people. Thats the reason why certain people marry today & tommorrow they are visiting the courts. In marriage people must learn to be resiliant, hold on to the call, termed “higher calling” in religious circles. Divorce is a vicious cycle that treakles down to children & we should not let this go that way. PEACE.

  104. haha iwe ka katalina, i missed you baby! how are things? we need to meet mune! from your ka name i am sure u are pretty. awe nalikutemwa sana katalina baybay.

  105. #28…imagine she was your relative,do you think you would even bring in CHEAP PF Politics sure?…..How correct do you want it to be..SHE WAS BEATEN FULLSTOP.
GBM has been having an affair and this poor woman confided in Sata who in turn informed GBM. The man burst in the sitting room where the wife was attending to some visitors who had come to see GBM’s sick daughter..he insulted her (in bemba ) and i cant even type here what he called her and then started beating her in full view of people. There was drama later as the MWENSOs (GBM’s wife is a Mwenso) started beating GBM’s relatives who went to kabulonga. There was real drama but for now this is enough.100% correct ka….

  106. @142 CHINGOLONGOLO, If you can be so real, who is more of a kaponya or has a kaponya background between Sata & Kafupi the founder of the so called MMD? Am just being real & PF is for real people. IF Sata calls NWesterners(where i come from) KUSHISHITA, you will blame him & will not vote for him because you want him to tell you what you want to hear. Even though, you are the the whole wide world knows that. Thats the problem. Its like ufola ndalama yonse upeleka kuli ka gelo with the hope that may be she will fall for that & accept your proposal-Nal! bro! If i say lozi’s r so selfish, you will want to crucify me horizontally but thats real.e.g SAKI. to mention but a few.I hope you are not a bachelor actually doing your studies on 100%govt barsary.

  107. Ndalya live @144,Mune just get her number privately rather than using this for fora-you are a coward! Pantu looks like naka kupela kale green light. PEACE TO ALL.

  108. Apa kwena I can blame bana GBM. She’s been married to that man for 30yrs so she should know when her husband is about to snap. Ichi lufumo chonse chilya ine teti banjikate.

  109. Domestic violence mainly stems from uninformed minds among others. Are you people aware that even starving your pets especially dogs constitutes domestic violence? How many zambians are culprits. Does this click some where? Who is to blame? Is it the perpetrator, the victim or ‘somebody else’. The case of GBM is quite complex. There so many interested parties so much that we are merely politiling now.

  110. Well…..after 30 years of been beaten by the PF thug and you are still married to the man, he thinks you are too weak to leave him. What is it that she see’s in him anyway. Is this man is an MP? What a big joke. Hey thug go back to the village and learn how to treat the mother of your kids. You have no shame!!!!!

  111. Iye chi GBM your are a thug, if you have failed keeping her bring her to me! i show her real love and she is beautiful kwena i can enjoy marrying such. useless man!

  112. Why are you people wasting time on this issue? Cant you see that it is RB and MMD at play here with their brown envelopes tring to make our PF look bad? There are people in Lusaka who are even saying that Sata is the one that told GBM to beat the wife when he counselled him. Even if that is true, where is the problem in that after all she is his wife? She accepted brown envelopes from MMD to try and make the husband just because he paid back the nkongole he owed they want to fix him.

  113. GBM has become very big headed…indeed bad habbits die hard. Fyakale ifwa kuma abanakashi…why not fight his fellow kaponya’s that work for him at intercity if has too much energy. Shame on you fat albert.Mwakula batata so please start behaving accordingly, change fo the better..

  114. Good Evening

This is a shameful report. You can’t treat a woman like that after she has given you five children and been married to you for 30 years.

  115. haha iwe ka katalina.. awe noti ifyo. am a gentelemani. candle light dinner, walk on the beach and then only god knows what happens after..i like you baybay. i ve oways liked you. 149 ba george naimwe ninshi? eh? i know wot i am doing mune. nalikwata game badi stylo. lets jsut say ka katalina nalikalya kale.

  116. This uncivilized imbwa should be expelled from all Govt. positions. His wife should not die for money, she should leave him and sue for 30yrs of suffering.

Women in Lusaka should also boycott his businesses.

  118. 162 voyi! its obvious you did most of your schooling in a government school in shangombo, very fast to copy and write back what the teacher wrote. mambala iwe

  119. #162 Are you sure that story is true? Can somebody really go to Sata for counselling? He probably told GBM to teach his wife a lesson she will never forget. Am surprised he did not give GBM a machete to do the job properly.

  120. GBM can you please quickly give some ‘petty cash’ to your arresting officer. Sata’s advice has not worked you see….

  121. Nasty chap! he should not be an MP coz he will resort to fighting the opposing MPs. Maybe the wife u turned on supporting PF. Grevious Bodily Harm ( GBH Mwamba).

  122. iwe umubemba this is from Post: A family member yesterday narrated that GBM and Chama had been having marital problems and the latter had asked Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata to counsel her husband.

The relative said after Sata counseled GBM over his marital problems and told him to change his lifestyle, GBM was very furious with his wife for embarrassing him in the eyes of his party president.

She said when GBM reached home, he started beating his wife with fists and she profusely bled from the injuries.

The relative said GBM took Chama to Hilltop Hospital within Lusaka and later took her to MKP TMS hospital in Lusaka’s Kabulonga suburb until yesterday when she was temporarily taken to UTH for further examination and signing of the medical report.

  123. Chama with a bandage wrapped around the upper part of her head arrived at UTH in the company of several of her relatives about midday. Upon seeing The Post photojournalist as she walked out of the casualty ward exit door at UTH after finishing the medical processes, Chama became jittery and screamed: “A journalist! No!” while covering her head with her hand. Chama hid her swollen face behind her relatives.
She continually hid herself behind her relatives until she was helped to board the car. When they returned to MKP TMS Hospital, Chama quickly disembarked and entered the hospital building. A group of Chama’s angry relatives bitterly protested over GBM’s conduct and his continued battering of their kin.

Chama’s brother, Perry Mwenso, said the family was offended with…

  124. I am very offended and I feel very bad about the behaviour of my brother-in-law to beat his wife like an animal. I can’t tolerate it,” a visibly upset Mwenso protested in an interview.

“Why should someone beat his wife like that? Even if there is something, they should be able to sit down and sort out the problems and not to beat her like that. That we can’t take as a family. We are very upset as the family.” Another relative wondered why GBM beat Chama in that manner in the presence of their children and grandchildren. “Where have you seen a leader beating a grandmother like that? If you cannot lead your own family, can you honestly aspire to become a leader in Zambia? No! We need passionate leaders,” a female family member said. Constant efforts to contact GBM proved…

  125. #164, naulanda kwena! Was the advice correct? Now if ba sata can fail to build one home, what if we give he kamene balwisha? Useless leader.

  126. barberic behaviour, ne chifumo kwati ni tuku ya munkoyo, pamwanakashi epo uleilanga bo Rambo? we mututu we, if that woman goes back to that pig, i will have no sympathy for her, its not about money, akakwipaya uyo, elo aka fuma pa bail. Get some diginity and leave him for long for good, how long are u going to endure the abuse, love never hurts

  127. A lot of people have posted very vociferous messages on this site expressing their outrage, disappointment, anger, frustration (you name it) on a range of mundane topics. Now we have a Zambian MP who is not only an embarrassment to right thinking human beings but an utter disgrace to the nation, and the reaction for some to his despicable and criminal behavior is at best indifferent and at worst an expression of what they find to be funny about brutilising a woman. It says a lot about our inability to be humane and to have empathy for the suffering of our people. We all have mothers and sisters yet we still feel men have a right to beat other people’s mothers and sisters. Shame on you. This dog of a politician should be dealt with with the utmost severity but that is perhaps a hope too…

  128. If your man has never slapped the h.e.ll out of you then he is busy slapping some other woman who he LOVES with his heart. When he comes home tonite, ask him why he has never beat you up and see what he says.

  129. This is not justifiable in any way; the lady should be protected by the law. Little wonder for such a horribly dysfunctional family; one of my nephews married one of his daughters and the marriage lasted all of one year.
Zambians please scrutinize and demand more from your prospective leaders – you deserve better. Is this the government in waiting?

  130. I’ve once worked with this man.Truelly i can confess he is useless more than the word itself.I’ve witnessed him insulting in the presence of workers, shame upon him.Let God punish this useless man on our behalf

  131. #145 Ben – eukwete ilyashi uyu. Its true. I thought the Mwenso’s are gangsters. Why are they letting Fat Albert get aware with it.

  132. Ba GBM, PLEASE IF YOU DONT LOVE YOUR WIFE ANYMORE JUST GO THE WILLIE NSANDA WAY. DIVORCE HER. MAYBE SHE DONT LOVE YOU TOO.

  133. Willie Nsanda, GBM, Kambwili etc, the list of kaponyas in the PF is endless. while the likes of Kadobi and Chalwe are simple cadres, the likes of GBM are big men in PF. And this is the same fool that thinks it can rule Zambia one day. What a moron!

  134. HEY! BA LT INFORM US ABOUT UTH CONDITION. THIS STORY IS LONG OVERDUE. I HEAR PATIENTS ARE SLEEPING IN CORRIDORS- HOW TRUE IS THAT? CAN YOU INFORM THE ZAMBIANS ABOUT THE SITUATION AT UTH AND EVEN OTHER HOSPITALS AND CLINICS?

  135. Foolish, sick GBM ,antway am not surprised by his behaviour he’s just a rich thug no different from those boys at KMB in Kitwe.Just cage him ,then he’ll learn the lesson.

  136. i think a man of GBMs stature in Zambian politics should be the last to resolt to violence. He actualy creates a bad name for himself because as Zambians we are scared of handing power to such a man with power coz with great power comes great posssibilites and if left an checked caa bring alot of harm.

  137. Shi Bwalya #51 I trully know that you have a weaker brain, you have to wear cruthes under your ears. Silly chap and if ugly were a crime, you would get a life sentence. Get your brain in order.

  138. I am surprised this matter is being given a political flavor! This is a straight forward criminal matter which the police and courts must execute. Furthermore Parliament needs to take action because one of its members has brought the house into disrepute and shame.

  139. A TOUCHING STORY ON MARRIAGE
When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said,
I’ve got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed
    the hurt in her eyes.

Suddenly I didn’t know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I
was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly.

She didn’t seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why?

I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and
shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn’t talk to each other. She
was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage.
But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost …cont.

  140. This is what PF stands for! Violence and killing!

GBM was out of place in MMD and has now found a good place in PF.

    GBM is just another thug!

  141. she had lost my heart to Jane. I didn’t love her anymore. I just pitied her!
With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she
could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company.
She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten
years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted
time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved
    Jane so dearly.

  142. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had
expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of
divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer
    now.
The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the
table. I didn’t have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast
because I was tired after an eventful day with Jane.
When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so
I turned over and was asleep again.
In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn’t want anything
from me, but needed a month’s notice before the divorce. She requested that in
that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as…

  143. to live as normal a life as possible. Her
reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month’s time and she didn’t want
to disrupt him with our broken marriage.

This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how
I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day.
She requested that every day for the month’s duration I carry her out of our
bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to
make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.

  144. I told Jane about my wife’s divorce conditions. . She laughed loudly and thought
it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce,
    she said scornfully.

My wife and I hadn’t had any body contact since my divorce intention was
explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both
appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mommy in his arms.
His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then
to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes
and said softly; don’t tell our son about the divorce

  145. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office.
On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. I
could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn’t looked at this
woman carefully for a long time. I realized she was not young any more. There
were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its
toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.
On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning.
This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me.
On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing
again. I didn’t tell Jane about this. It…

  146. I didn’t tell Jane about this. It became easier to carry her as the month
slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.
She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but
could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown
bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why
I could carry her more easily.
Suddenly it hit me… she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart.
Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head.
Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it’s time to carry mom out. To him,
seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his
life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I
    turned my…

  147. . I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last
minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the
sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally.
I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day.

But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my
arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly
and said, I hadn’t noticed that our life lacked intimacy.
I drove to office…. jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I
was afraid any delay would make me change my mind…I walked upstairs. Jane
opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Jane, I do not want the divorce
    anymore.

  148. She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever?
She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Jane, I said, I won’t divorce. My
marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn’t value the details of
our lives, not because we didn’t love each other anymore. Now I realize that
since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her
    until death do us apart.
Jane seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the
door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away.
At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The
salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I’ll carry you

  149. out every morning until death do us apart.
That evening I arrived home, flowers in my hands, a smile on my face, I run up
stairs, only to find my wife in the bed – dead.
My wife had been fighting CANCER for months and I was so busy with Jane to even
notice. She knew that she would die soon and she wanted to save me from the
whatever negative reaction from our son, in case we push thru with the
divorce.– At least, in the eyes of our son— I’m a loving husband….

  152. but why was she not beating him back. For me i would kick him on his balls. Women are foolish. Someone is beating and u r crying. Silly. Women must learn to fight back hard. learn karate or something or join ester phiri

  153. Lili, that man is huge and one punch from him to any avearage woman is certainly game over for that woman. It’s like beating a small child..and is unacceptable. Imagine it was a poor chap from the shanties…this time the guy could be a guest of the state and would certainly have gone to prison for at least 5 yrs with hard labour….

  154. GBM old habbits die hard dont they. From a commoin thug to a MP, Only in Zambia i must say. I am told this is typical GBM behavior. On numerous occassions he has beaten his employees for no reason and at time employeing those call boys at kulima tower to help. GBM must be taught a lesson i am sure his children will also join to beat him like a rabied dog. One son is a drug addict the other i hear i infested with AIDS. Mwenso boys just beat the fat out of him.

  155. georgeWBush, you are not real. After what this man has done to his wife you keep on trying protecting him because you so much into the PACT? I can see the flag that you are not home. Marry someon’s daughter there and do the same like your HERO GBM. They will skin you alive. Lets be real guys.
This Man insults his workers, his children, and with his Bus Drivers worse.

  156. Fist of all, to those who say we must 1st get the facts as to why he beat his wife, I say shame on you all. That poor woman was beaten and she could have died yet you say there must have been reason for this man to beat his wife? That was a vicious and brutal attack and such behaviour should not be condoned. He is a politician for crying out loud and you want that to be in the public eye? If people are complaining about police brutality and the way they treat people in prison yet they hide it, well this is your proof right there that the politicians condone it. What if the battered woman was your sister, your mother, your relative, just how would you feel. This is not the 1st time this man has done this to his wife. She was treated for a broken skull in South Africa yet he’s done it…
