Zambia Leave For Yemen Minus Four Players

Share

Zambia today travelled to the Middle East on Monday ahead of their friendly international against Yemen this week minus four key players.

Goalkeeper Kalililo Kakonje and midfielder Rainford Kalaba are said to be away on trials in DR Congo where they have hope to join the bandwagon of Zambian players who have developed a strong affection for TP Mazembe over the last 12 months.

Also missing is utility midfielder Noah Chivuta who is reportedly about to secure a new club on Monday in South Africa.

Zanaco defender Thomas Nyirenda will also miss the Yemen friendly as he will be away with Zanaco this weekend in Tunisia to play the sides Caf Confederation Cup Group B return leg match against CS Sfaxien.

The development means Coach Dario Bonetti will only have 16 players, all home-based, available for him for the away friendly against Yemen.

  1. I hope Kalaba can get a club. I do not condem him 4 turning down Zamalek. This is totaly different territory from what we know pa Z. Fred Mwila jnr died in Egypt.

  2. #1 MBUZI, You think dangerously, just like george mpombo.julius aghaowa played in egypt then russia and england now why didnt he die, malitoli was in tunisia which is an arab country is he dead? this ka little fool wont play anywhere in europe becuse of that zamalek snub dont you know that?how has the anderlecht talk fizzled out for him to find himself at mazembe, doesnt that amaze you?

  4. Iwe #2, Mutombela Kuchulu, mina amate. I think you got Mbuzi’s comment twisted. I think the point he is trying to put across has got more to do with the conditions he might be subjected to if he signed for this team. Like Mwila Jr, having to convert to islam and ending up being buried there the following day after his death, as required by their custom, without even a single family member from Zambia being present. and I guess there is much more that Kalaba may know about that made him to think twice about joining this club.

  5. Moderator@ #3 That is the myth iam disputing, there were a lot of great players who played in egypt before freddie mwila thats why i mentioned the great julius aghahowa who still remains a christian upto todate.freedie mwila converted to islam out of his own conviction.the people who gave him the condition of changing religion are from the family of the arab girl she wasmarrying and not from zamalek hence even when he died zamalek had nothing to do with his funeral because he had long stopped playing for them

  6. # 4. moderator u got the point. Kalaba is in football circles for a living ,ask yourself how can somebody from a third world country turn down $20,000 pin a month ? It defies logic. Theres a big reason he refused to go and play !!

  8. With TP Mazembe on the verge of playing the club world cup, maybe this will be an opportunity for Kalaba to wiggle his way back into Europe. I agree with MUTOMBELA KUCHULU snubbing Zamalek may have just cost his reputation a big deal with European clubs. They will now always consider it that if we send this kid on loan he is capable of doing the same thing. I hope he can sort it out or maybe he admires Mbola seating in the stands week after week watching his friends play.

  9. INSHALLAH (God willing) one day the whole of zambia will embrace ISLAM and follow in the footsteps of the prophets Abraham, Noah, Moses, Jesus and Muhammed (peace and blessings be on all the prophets) ISLAM= submission to God and only God
