The Southern African Centre for Constructive Resolution of Disputes SACCORD says the ruling MMD will be the most threatened party if expelled Chilanga Member of Parliament, Ng’andu Magande decides form a political party.
The former finance minister is reported to be planning to form a political party.
SACCORD information officer, Obby Chibuluma said the ruling party will be most threatened if Magande goes ahead to form a political movement as reported.
Mr Chibuluma said Mr Magande has been an all time MMD sympathizer and would find it easy to draw most of his party membership from the ruling party.
He noted that the fact that he once served in government and most people within the MMD have openly supported him means that most of his party membership would be drawn from the ruling party.
He has since warned the MMD to brace itself for the worst because if Mr Magande forms a party as reported,the ruling party would suffer the most casualties.

Well, I am not the one to bury the head in the sad god damn ostrich style, this Magande thing is for real and thank god we now have a genuine candidate who can run for president. He was a good finance minister, he has proven his record not only in the public service but also with international organisations. His reaction to his ejection from the MMD is a mark of maturity most lacking in our politicians and for that I salute his and will root for him. Not suprised though that Zambians have been fed on a political diet of hyenas for so long that when genuine leadership presents itself to them, mwine Zambia is spooked real big time!

This SACCORD thing should not cheat Magande and raise his hopes for nothing, Magande isn’t as popular as he would like people to believe, Magande struggled to beat Cpt Moono in Chilanga constituency in the last elections, the only thing that saved him is the fact that he was with the ruling party at the time and so naturally they pulled strings here and there to make him go through so if a constituency proved too tough for him how does he hope to make the rest of the country love him, Magande is a non-starter!

As people have said, Magande has failed to win in his home village and only got the seat in Chilanga because of underhand tactics of Maureen Mwanawasa using special branch. He lost the candidacy for the MMD to RB by a long margin and he is now the person who somehow will take the presidency away from RB? #11 Where exactly have you been for you to say RB has been a total failure? Steering the economy to growth in a midst of a global economic downturn is failure to you? A bumper harvest and price of mealie meal coming down is a failure? But which sane person will resign from MMD to align himself with Magande? If Magande formed a party, everybody knows that he would be presidential candidate with not even a feeble chance of success. I doubt that he can even command sufficient supporters (200) for presidential nomination. I am sure that Magande has already weighed himself. If he had wanted to form a party he would have done it a long time ago instead of waiting to be expelled from MMD.

Magande can only survive Politically if he joins UPND or PF. Otherwise, he is finished especially that he is only interested in Plot One. He cannot sell beyond the confines of Lusaka alone.

However, Magande can simply show selflessness by joining ADD so that him and Milupi can go for a convention to see who can be ADD’s 2011 presidential candidate!
However, if Magande feels he needs to join technocrats who have the manifesto to deliver Zambia to higher developmental heights, he is welcome to join the mighty UPND.

It’s interesting to see just how bad MMD cadres are at learning from experience, only a few months ago they were shouting at the top of their voices from every ant and mbeba hill they could step on claiming they will whip Milupi, Nsofu Mwamba etc in recent by elections. The result has in all cases been as any being with a semblance of a brain had anticipated, MMD loss. We all know Mpombo will defeat them in Kafulafuta and Magande will take a chunk of their constituency but just note the kulimonesha ta pomposity of Kanitundila’s cadres, saturated with false hope of the invisibility that only them can see. Magande and Mpombo haven’t had the fairest of treatment at the handz of MMD and of course they are very vibrant MPz.
