Share

The Lusaka High Court has found Inktech Managing Director, Mathew Mohan, and his two co-accused, Idris Patel and Shabia Patel, with a case to answer in a matter where the trio is charged with the murder of Cyclone Hardware Director, Sajid Mohammed Itowala.

Supreme Court Judge,Gregory Phiri, sitting as High Court Judge found the trio with a case to answer and has consequently put them on their defense.

In his ruling this morning, Judge Phiri said the prosecution produced a mixture of evidence which indicate that the trio had nothing to fear as they murdered Itowala during the day in his vehicle.

He said this took place after the deceased was captured and abducted in the early hours of July 21, 2009.

The matter has since been adjourned to October 18 and 19,as the dates for the commencement of defence while the trio remains in custody.

The trio is charged of murdering Cyclone Hardware Director, Sajid Itowala, on July 21, 2009 in Lusaka, contrary to section 200 of penal code.

  1. jugde g.phiri…we are proud of honest and straight foward judges like you in zambia…who dont worship money but rather fear god and believe in true justice..

  2. This Mohan has alwasz been a problem.Cage him at all costs.as for the other two cage them as well to serve as an example among the indian community coz they like killing each other over jealous and business!

  3. A lot of people have benefited from this unfortunate murder,Both families for the defendant and plaintiff have poured in huge sums of money in this case, the judicially in Zambia is a joke so are the prosecutors. There is just this cartel

  4. Mohan should be hanged to death period. Sajid’s family and those of us who new Sajid Itowala have been at pains since his death. We demand nothing but justice.

  5. HON JUDGE GREGORY PHIRI IS AN EXCELLENT JUDGE,HE HAS SENTENCED MANY AGGRAVATED ROBBERS & MURDERERS TO DEATH BY HANGING.HOPE THIS TRIO GETS THE STIFFEST PUNISHMENT SO THAT THE WIDOW &THE CHILDREN OF THE LATE SAJID ITOWALA CAN GET THE JUSTICE THEY DESIRE.MOHAN IS A BIG TIME CROOK WHO HAS TARNISHED THE GOOD IMAGE OF THE INDIAN COMMUNITY IN ZAMBIA FOR QUIET A LONG TIME.I HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH THE LATE ITOWALA OR THE TRIO BUT I WOULD WANT TO SEE JUSTICE 100% DONE .

  6. #7 & 8 Thanks for your comments. I for one I was cloe to Sajid, I drove in to his yard, Shop, office. He was born in 1975 but very business minded.
His death just brought to a halt a lot of his investment. He was a lovely smart fellow to be around with. Ever sobber as per indian custom. His two Brothers Abdul and Salim are also businessmen. I will miss you Sajid. I will speak for were I can. You were one of the few Indians who associated with us ordinary Zambias for nothing but just love for Zambians a country you loved and cherished till your brutal death. God is with us as we still mourn you. Justice will come our way. God is great!!!!!1

  7. #8 thanks I m consoled by your words, Zambia should not be used for criminal hatred and other activities. No no !!!!!We need justice in this matter and many more

  8. I agree with everyone that justice must take it’s course on this murder case. One strange thing is that the Lusaka Lawyer,Frank Tembo, was made a state witness even when he was heavily involved in this murder. He was among the conspirators and also helped Mohan dispose of the murder weapon on Great East Road.He should be also be charged with murder alongside the other three.Let no go scot free. This must be payback for Frank Tembo cause he is renowned for defending people accused of murder.

  9. I do hope that these people will be brought to justice! I “THINK” that alot of rich and famous of Lusaka’s Indian community is involved, and they have promised the trio that if they do not name names, they will take it upon themselves to get them released at ANY cost. All these court cases, etc may just be for show.
But as others have mentioned, I am also hoping that Hon. Judge G Phiri is an honest man and will do what is right.
Sajid was no Angel, so I dont really feel sorry for him. But his family must be suffering. The Patel brothers, I hope they really get what they deserve.
As for Mohan, Im sure the jail mates will serve him justice.
