The additional Chilanga constituency and Kaumbwe ward by – elections in Chilanga and Petauke district, respectively, will also take place on the same date.

This is contained in press release made available to ZANIS by ECZ Public relations Manager Chris Akufuna in Lusaka today.

Mr Akufuna explained that all the requirements applying to the Mpulungu parliamentary and local government by –elections will also apply to the Chilanga Constituency and Kaumbwe ward by-elections.

He has advised voters in the affected areas to seek additional information from the office of the director at the ECZ or the district electoral officers , Town clerks , council secretaries in the respective districts.

The Mpulungu seat fell vacant after the untimely death the area Member of parliament Lameck Chibombamillimo who died in India after an illness last month.

On the other hand, the Chilanga seat fell vacant following the expulsion of the area Member of Parliament Ngandu Magande by the MMD. Also expelled is out spoken Kafulafuta MP George Mpombo.

  1. The MMD expelled Magande and Mpombo so as to create more than one bye election on one day. The strategy is to overstretch the opposition whilst RB uses state resources (plane, helicopter, etc). This tactic will not work with Mpombo taking the matter to the courts. 2 bye elections are manageable.

  2. MMD has gained ground in Lusaka, PF and UPND should keep on dreaming, forget about Chilanga and Mpulungu its a dead issue MMD will win Big time

  3. This is what the pro-Gay Sata and his PF stand for in Zambia in exchange for Danish and Sweden donations.

Five Kabulonga Boys pupils in court over homosexual acts

FIVE Kabulonga Boys High School pupils yesterday pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent practice between persons of the same sex involving another 15-year-old boy.

According to facts before the court the five boys allegedly used to take the boy in question to the Ablution Block at the boys’ school or some vantage between Kabulonga Boys and Kabulonga Girls schools and made him suck their private parts before subjecting him to anal sex.

The five juvenile boys pleaded not guilty to the offence, which is contrary to section 158(1) of the Penal Code as read with Amended Act number 15 of 2005, before Lusaka…

  4. Magande Mpombo caused theirown by elections..let us not be pretenders…What has MMD got to do with these two jokers..the Post are the campaign managers of these chaps…Membe should run in Chilanga

  5. Tekeni boola panshi. I have already gone through in Chilanga. MMD belongs to the rubbish bin. I need your votes though…………….VIVA UPND

  6. MMD should expect more surprises at the convention because H.E has provided very dull leadership. That’s why I want to urge other senior members, especially ministers to get out of their cocoons of fear and exercise their democratic right to challenge Mr Banda.”

  7. On “Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says the vacant Mpulungu parliamentary and local government by- elections will be held on 28th October 2010… Chilanga constituency and Kaumbwe ward by – elections in Chilanga and Petauke district, respectively, will also take place on the same date,” I like this because it will be interesting to read another column that PF appointed vice-leader Guy Scott will write — especially if PF will lose in Mpulungu while the mighty UPND wins in Chilanga.

Let By-elections performance speak rather than rantings from PF characters and the PF vuvuzela.

Im also urging Magande to form his own political or join PF or any other party apart from the mighty UPND and MMD. Magande could also seek Dr Clive Chirwa to join him.

    Be blest all.

    Matt…

  8. 1 Mwana chinondo, how do you reason? The President has always used his constitutional entitlement of state resources and security, but MMD has lost some elections and won others. Very cheap reasoning, much like the rigging stu.pidity that MMD rigged the Chifubu elections to lose.

  9. October 28th, the day of reckoning. MMD should be whacked into oblivion. Baya sana ukwiba bangwele. How can their be allowed to be stealing with such impunity.

NCC ,billions gone; Presidential Tours, billions gone; roads, billions gone; Ministry of Health, Billions stolen (Kapoko/Dr Miti), yet they fail to sponsor students at UNZA who industry desperately needs to fill the yawning skills gap. At least Kaunda gave us free University Education.

  10. MMD is losing big time in both constituencies (Mpulungu & Chilanga). I’m urging the PACT not to be a nuisense this time. For MMD to lose by a cricket or landslide score margin, let the opposition unite this time to deal a decisive BIG blow to MMD. This will enable the MMD to realise small little BIG thief FTJ has beena a liability than an asset to them. MMD is slowly turning to be a FOSSIL like the LONG dead UNIP.
