Elephant kill woman

Share

A woman has been killed by an elephant, while her son has been wounded in the Mosi-O-Tunya National Park near the Sun International hotel in Livingstone.

The unidentified woman’s head and some of her body parts were found scattered along a path that the Elephants use in the park.

Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Lemmy Kajoba said the womans other body parts were also found near the rail line within the National Park.

The gruesome discovery was made at around 09:30 hours Thursday.

Mr Kajoba disclosed that his men also discovered a three year old child a few metres from where the woman’s body parts were found.

A ZNBC crew found the child, who had sustained a fractured right leg and skull being attended to at Livingstone General Hospital.

Police suspect that the deceased woman could be a Congolese national because the child was speaking Congolese.

  1. Aw, c’mon LT, is there any language called ‘Congolese’? Try Lingala, Kasai, Bemba, Swahili, French etc….not ‘Congolese’.

  2. Areaboy #3, I think they were trying to say a congolese language, just as they said ”Elephant kill woman” instead of “Kills”. Let us just bear with the few mistakes they make and continue to support. It may be that the proof reader is from Mansa like myself. Its OK.

    Have a nice day

  3. Lol- at first i thought it was correct- congolese, then when i read # 3, it made sense lol- support you # 4.But then how is the story like- tell us more please- MHSRIP

  4. it was a grissily sight, but how did this woman find herself in the park?of congolese origin, was she a tourist?i dread this animal

  5. No. 2, her motherly instincts saved the child from being killed by the beast by throwing the baby in the bush and distracting the Elephant or the baby was simply thrown as the Elephant attacked. I hope the ZAWA hunters shoot it down.

  6. Sad story. ZAWA & Sun Internatioan, put warning sins. erect an electric fence to distruct elephants from coming where people are passing. Loss of life is regretable.

  7. it was relly sad” it’s a terriable way to die’ i woud’nt wish that death on my worst enemy, may her soul rest in erternal peace

  8. Zawa should look for the elephant and get kill him or her. We should not lose other humans. Relatives of the deceased should sue zawa and the conservationists who like to protect these animals at the expense of humans. It is good that one elephant was killed last week. Kill more of them and reduce the risk to humans.

  9. Its sad to learn that kind of death hapening to an inocent woman.May the gud lord grant her a special place.Op the boy will be taken care of,but let ZAWA take note of this animal.

  10. Balance of nature. if we humans can be mutilated like that we should also use whatever weapon we can lay our hands on and kill the Jumbos for protein to suppliment our meals which are full of carbohydrates. this nonses of zawa conservationists should not be mentioned here. poachers are killing game rangers and game rangers re dying for the sake of these jumbo. between the elephants and humans lets see who is who.

  11. Sad as the story maybe, fact is the Elephant WAS IN THE NATIONAL PARK where it is protected. When one is in the park, one has to follow safety advice upon encountering wildlife. The Livingstone to Vic falls road is in the park, soon there will be a transfrontier park further enlarging the protected area. Walking on foot alone in this area, especially if not knowledgeable of the safe practice exposes one to great danger. Human – animal conflicts will always be there in an area co-shared with wildlife, but these are manageable by way of information dissemination about safe practice when in the park area. It is wrong to advocate for the elephant to be put down. Just like we don’t ban vehicles when they cause accidents & people die. However, sincere condolences to the family of the late.
