Mpulungu, Chilanga by elections moved to 30th October

Share

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has postponed the poll date for the by-elections in Mpulungu and Chilanga Parliamentary Constituencies.

The same action also goes for five wards in various districts.

The elections will now be held on Saturday, 30th October rather than Thursday the 28th.

Making the announcement, ECZ public relations manager, Chris Akufuna said the postponement has been necessitated by the Grades 7, 9 and 12 examinations which will take place between 1st October to 3rd December at the same venues for the by-elections.

He however indicated that nomination dates will remain unchanged and proceed as planned on 7th October.

  1. But they (ECZ) knew when they announced the dates. The examination dates are set even more than 6 months in advance. Hopefully, they will come there being a weekend!

  2. This “The elections will now be held on Saturday, 30th October rather than Thursday the 28th” is meant to rig the UPND’s votes of SDAs.

Following unconfirmed data reaching my central commend post here, I congratulate PF on decision to withdraw from Chilanga MP by-election though it was out of fear of being known to have lost popularity to UPND in Lusaka — which is regaining its 2001 status in the Lusaka Province. PF/serpentine Sata did well to think of apologising to HH/UPND.

It is still very ambitious for me at this point to ask Mr PF/serpentine Sata MC to discipline his PF senior- and junior-officials whom he appoints and disappoints any time he likes so that the PF and UPND can now become realistic and then accept that both parties are equal.

    Be blest all.

  3. On “The elections will now be held on Saturday, 30th October rather than Thursday the 28th” is meant to rig the UPND’s votes of SDAs voters who will be disenfranchised if voting will end at 18:00 hrs, I urge the UPND, PF and SDA church lawyers to seek audience with ECZ so that ECZ will allow voting to end at 23:59 Hrs on that coming Saturday to allow only SDA church member voters to vote from 18:00 Hr to about 24 Hrs on the 3àth October 2010.

Arrangements for voting to continue upto about 6 Hrs of Sunday 1st November 2010 should be considered by the ECZ to cater for this confusion that GRZ have probably done to win Chilanga MP seat since most of the UPND supporters are SDA church christian who resign from all business on saturday to worship God.

    Be blest all.
