Zambians in diaspora urged to market Zambia

Share

The Zambian High Commissioner to Swaziland Agness Ngoma has commended Zambians resident in Swaziland for upholding high standards of integrity and their contributions towards the consolidation of bilateral relations between Zambia and Swaziland.

Ms. Ngoma expressed her appreciation that relations between Zambia and Swaziland have continued to grow adding that the Zambian community in that monarch nation has continued to play a critical role in the social and economic development of Swaziland.

This is contained in a press statement made available tho ZANIS by First Secretary Political Zambian High Commissioner to Mozambique Siyambango Siyamba in Lusaka today.

The High Commissioner said Zambians in Swaziland have contributed to that country’s key sectors such as in Health, Education, Agriculture and Sports where a number of them are employed or have invested.

She said this when she officiated at a ceremony marking Zambia’s 46th Independence anniversary held on October 31st at Manzini social club in Swaziland.

The function which was jointly organized by the Zambia High Commissioner and the Association of Zambian Nationals in Swaziland (AZANIS) was attended by more than 200 hundred Zambian nationals who came from various parts of the country.

The function was characterized by various artists from Zambia’s current crop of popular musicians and traditional dancers.

Ms Ngoma noted that the Commission has continued to receive favourable reports about the Zambian community in Swaziland.

The High Commissioner has since appealed to the Zambians to look after their hard earned incomes and in vest wisely both in Swaziland and zambia.

He warned them to guard against people that would want to lure them into ‘quick money making ventures’ that could be illegal and ultimately ruin their lives and tarnish Zambia’s image.

Mr. Siyamba briefed the community on the current economic and political developments in Zambia which he described as stable and favourable and further encouraged them to take keen interest in the electoral process in Zambia so that they participate in the 2011 elections by voting for a government that would meet their aspirations.

He also outlined Zambia’s economic strides particularly in the Agriculture sector where the country has recorded unprecedented maize and wheat surplus.

Mr. Siyamba has since urged the leaders of AZANIS to help market Zambia abroad so as to attract further investment in Agriculture in order to make this year’s independence them ‘consolidating our independence through food security’ a reality.

  3. U shud know that we are not in diaspora 2 be marketing Zambia but to market ourselves? Being in diaspora does not mean u automatically become Zambia’s marketing manager, okay. We are here 4 our own businesses. By the way is there anything meaningful 2 market Zambia for with all the rubbish that we alwayz read in the newspapers?

  5. what is there to market in Zambia? with all the rubbish in the streets who would like to bring in her friends? I would rather market my own katemba in Zambia than market dirty Zambia. RB travels a lot much. does he not see that the scenery from Lusaka airport to munali is pathetic? Does he not see the rubbish along Kafue round about? Does he not see the rubbish around kamwala railway crossing to mention but a few areas. PF councils will not clean lusaka s long as the mmd is in power. shame on GRZ and PF councils

  6. The incentive for foreign companies doing business in Zambia is 5 year tax holiday(tax rebate). As a citizen of Zambia in the diaspora, whats my motivation to market and do business in mother Zambia??

Include us in legislation just as you have done with foreign companies to bolster Zambian businesses so as to curb the begging bowl mentality.

  7. There are five categories of investors who can be considered under the ZDA Act. Zero percent tax on profits for 5 years from the first year profits are made. for year 6 to 8, only 50 percent of profits are taxable and years 9 & 10, only 75 percent of profits are taxable
CAN A ZAMBIAN IN DIASPORA BE ACCORDED THESE CATEGORIES AS WELL??

  8. # 6 & 7 Very good contribution. These guys are jokers. How do they expect us to market Zambia without putting mechanisms in place for us to do so. And its always easier to market a good product.

  9. the truth is majority of zambians in USA are illegals very few have papers and the jobs they are doing are shame jobs. few zambians are doing respectable jobs and these are the ones who can market the country. In UK we have a lot of nurses and doctors who are working much to the satisfaction of UK govt. those doing odd jobs legal are less educated and fear depotation. In south africa we have changanya illegals, criminals stealing from zambians who go to buy cars and those who are doing good jobs like doctors nurses teachers etc. the rest of europe including australia i think the zambians are doing worthwhile jobs and can help market the country. USA I repeat majorrity are low level but if you not among these dont get upset

  10. #10, Where do you get all these statistics from about Zambians living abroad? You seem to have an issue with most of them.

  11. You guys can you ignore this ALEJANDRO guy.He as never said anything sensible he’s on a struggle for identity,so that he makes a name like senior citizen etc.At least others i.e senior citzen ,capitalist ,their arguments are sensible sometimes ,as for ALEJANDRO,its like his mouth is dirtier than his a.s.s. h.o.l.e.

  12. If you pay me, yes I will market Zambia. But why should I market Zambia and steal the job from Zambia Information Services, Tourist Bureau etc? Typical of Zambians they want something for nothing!
