NCC boycott vindicated – Kapita

Share

United Party for National Development (UPND)vice president Richard Kapita says those who boycotted the National Constitutional Conference (NCC) have been vindicated by the announcement that the new constitution will not be ready by 2011.

Mr Kapita has called on voters to punish the MMD in the 2011 elections for being wasteful with tax payers’ money.

He said those who were against the NCC have been proved right by government’s announcement that only provisions from the draft constitution that do not require going to the referendum will be enacted by 2011.

The UPND Vice presudent said Zambians should hold the MMD government responsible for assuring the nation that the new constitution will be ready by 2011.

Mr . Kapita wondered what would be enacted if the constitution will not have the 50 percent plus 1 vote clause and other important provisions contained in the draft.

“What government has done with its failure to enact a new constitution by 2011 to the people who supported the NCC including the UPND is to throw an “egg” in their faces,” Mr. Kapita said.

Mr. Kapita, however, ruled out his party boycotting the 2011 elections on the basis of the constitution.

  1. mr kapita richard you were part of ncc and you enjoyed the hefty allowances. upnd was in full attendance and we thank you for that. have you finished the money already and your tummy is making noise. dont waste time politicking find a job worthwhile bcos your boss HH is comfortable already. politics is now fulltime job for you, shame

  2. Is there anything planned and persued by our Government will ever attract praise ! I wish there was a choice to denounce your citizenship and with that ease get alighned with people worth being called people. What a disgrace to be part of the current generation in Zambia.

  3. There is an old vernacular fairy tale which when directly translated would read “Don’t kill all the old people in the village because you will not know what to do when a snake wraps itself around your mother’s neck”

Old Sata smelt a rat and asked all his MP’s to boycott the wasteful NCC, clearly elaborating that Zambia is very poor to afford an expensive wasteful NCC for which he was called all sorts of names.

Now that he has been vindicated by the same proponents of the NCC who called him names, will they have the courage to admit stupidity, apologise to Zambians and own up for their “SHAMELESS day light THEFT” OF STATE FUNDS???

  4. Am actually suprised that Mr kapita can only come and see this now. The next Country President (Sata), the biggest Church in Zambia and all right thinking senior citizens, including noble PF members of Parliament saw this.

Now you’re listening to Sickly Kunda and his HUMPTY DUMPTY now, on things which we saw earlier on. Come on be sensible and get on board.

  5. One Question: What the fever with the MMD government fearing to include the 50%+1? If they are sure that they are popular, let them just include that. We want a majority president and not an imposed president on the people. I will really celebrate with Rupiah and his MMD is they win by over 50% in 2011, but not the mare 35000 votes

  6. NCC was a good idea and there was no need to boycott it.Its only problem is its being managed by crooks .People who don’t mean well for zambia.
To you George Kunda en friends, posterity will judge you hushly over this .

  7. The Vice President Mr.Kapita has observed well it was noble cause for the party to have participated. If UPND and other civil societies who voted for 50+1 had boycotted like PF did even the issue of referendum could have not been arisen. So PF cadres mind your cheap politiking do not condemn Mr. Kapita for the good job well done in the NCC. The implementers are the late down.
