Share

Zambia's Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande (l),

President RUPIAH BANDA has delegated Foreign Affairs Minister KABINGA PANDE to represent him at todays SADC Heads of States meeting in Botswana.

The President was due to Chair saturdays SADC Troika Heads of State Meeting of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Co-operation.

Mr BANDA has however, delegated Foreign Affairs Minister KABINGA PANDE to represent him at the SADC meeting due to pressing national commitments.

The SADC meeting, which will be marked by the official commissioning of the new SADC headquarters in Gaborone, is expected to discuss political issues in the region.

This is according to a statement released to ZNBC by the State House Press and Public Relations Unit in LUSAKA yesterday.

President BANDA arrived back home friday from Brazil, where he was on a three day State visit.

During the visit, Mr BANDA and his delegation met a number of Brazilian investors.

The President, who also met his Brazilian counterpart LUIZ INACIO LULA DA SILVA, explained that his government will soon come up with mechanisms to replicate some projects being undertaken in Brazil.

President BANDA said this shortly after his arrival from Brazil.

While in Brazil, President Banda also held talks with the in-coming President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff and other senior officials.

During his visit, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva promised to enhance trade relations and hinted that companies such as Vale and Scania will soon invest in Zambia.

  1. Is the president ok,someone fill us in? he cant miss such an important meeting,he couldnt launch the new printing machine at the licencing office as well,,,did he catch a tropical bug from the jungles of Brazil

  2. Are we being told this so that he can justify his next trip? Rupiah, please stop patronizing Zambians, They can seen all your tricks.
Now that we have saved some money here, please dont put it into your pocket. I would suggest that this money goes towards repairing some wards at UTH that are in a pathetic state as seen in pics on LT yesterday.

  3. When he travels he is vasco da banda when he delegates travel he has polomya – good for nothing characters. You are impossible to please because you are just anarchists.

  4. Now I guess they can never say President RB does not delegate some trips. You’ve got your wishes so stop your complaining.

  5. #3; what money is being saved here? you mean to tell me that they will get discounts on everything just because the president is not on the travelling party? what i know is that the delegation in terms of numbers will be the same; only difference is substituting rb with mpande. so if this is the main reason for complaining about rb’s travels, i would rather have more value for money and have him travel instead of his juniors! however, if the gripe is that he has more important/ pressing national needs as he says, then bravo! good decision!
#4 advisor; welcome to my world!!! this IS a classical zambian syndrome for you

  6. # 4 & 5, you start thinking like the “independents”, at-least most people at LT are on left or opposition, but you Adviser & Broke Capitalist has no options on anything.
It is understandable that RB is tired, Brazil is far away plus time-difference. I am sure he didn’t even have time to prepare for important SADC meeting, some say he can’t even chair a meeting, but he is a good participant.

  7. #3, Lets be serious what advance does a minister send? Can u compare the up keep of a head of state to that of a minister? Please research before u write.

  8. # 3 & 8…. I can understand you difficulties in comprehension. My contribution is clear here. You can not compare the cost incurred by the contry to move a president to that of a minister. Obviously it was going to cost more if Rupiah went than Pande, so there is some saving here.
So where is your confusion ?

  9. What a pathetic attempt to pull the wool over our eyes. We can see through such shenanigans Mr President. I am sure we’ll see the usual LT MMD minions fall over each other to heap accolades of praise on RB. What a disgraceful lot.

  10. Essential regional heads of state functions where he is supposed to chair & commision the openning of the new SADC hq, he delegates? Useless far-fetched trips with no accord or tangible benefit to zambia, he is quick to jump on a plane as a tourist instead of sending a minister or PS. Talk abt misguided priorities…..

  11. President RB was very upset yesterday to learn that Mwamba is at Chimbokaela. F.Titus Chiluba asked for his intervetion Monday morning, he can’t go away.

  12. Typical thinking of an Animal farm captain. To RB, there no priorities, but I do understand. You do not get wisdom from been in class, the OLD MAN is JUST DULL. He is Old and tired, let him rest before he dies in his sleep

  13. This must have been the most difficult decision for our President to make in his two years in office
RB: Thandi Darling, imagine a presidential plane hitting the skies for Gaberone without me. This cant be happening. I must be dreaming! I must be dreaming!
Thandiwe: Imwe na imwe dont worry we still have 11 months before the erections you can plan 30 more trips before then
RB: No sweetie remember I need the allowance for cattle feed at the farm and besides your mother asked us to get her a golden dining suite.
Thandiwe: Nga zija munatenga ku Brazil we can buy my mother the dining suite from that. Cattle-feed mungauze chabe a Daka ku galakacha he gives you some from the USAID package
RB: You are keleva honey but Lusaka is too boring-especially now mu rain season na vimatika everywhere!

  14. I d rather go and doze in Gaberone
Thandiwe: Imwe naimwe muzagulako chiyani kuja? They have no Harrods
RB: O ya you remind me, Ija suti yamene ninavala poyenda kuChina the jacket was hanging far above my talauza. I need to buy another one. Ok this week let me check with my diplomatic missions to see which city has better shops for suits so I can organise a trip for next week
Thandi: Kodi simungafuneko tailor monga analikuchitila a Chiluba instead of you buying from shops- thats why the suits are not fitting you well ka!
RB: No Vama tailor bangakugwile ngati Sata na HH take over. Unpack my bags and prepare for the trip to Sausa Africa next week.

  15. Thandi: Which bags? The ones from Brazil, China New York or the ones from Mfuwe? And the ones from Malawi are still unpacked imwe naimwe a Vasco Da Banda lets miss the Botswana trip while we unpack these bags.
RB: I see honey you think I can pull the wool over their eyes if I can send Kabinga to Botswana just for this trip eh? While you are checking the bags. Meanwhile I will bechecking the embassies for cities with shops for my suti. And stop calling me Vasco Da Banda Have you started blogging naiwe?

  16. Tricks of an old cow! Imagine, his embarassement when the Bots Presido Karma refused to go to State House, after the publicity and bra bra bra…..! And he spurned the Dinner organised for him at Inters – saying he was too “busy” and only needed to consult the ZED presido, at the presido lounge(who ever named it!) at Lusaka International Airport( Mukachite ko improve ka airport, kwati ni ku Congo). He is giving Karma the other cheek, the young man is cheeky!~

  17. Whats happening here? Is he going to grab the allowances from Kabinga or he’s now finished his projects? There’s no way this man would delegate just like that, am sure there would be some benefit accruing to him. So in the meantime what is he going to be doing at state house since his office is haunted? I suppose he will take it out on braii and tax free booze.

  18. #19 is the only probable reason, though a miscalculation if he was to be chairing a Regional Meeting! If it had just been Botswana inviting, then it would have made sense & the reciprocation, or revenge in simple terms would have been fitting, but alas!! This guy needs all the help, his advisers have failed him!!

  19. Hehe…ati RB has delegated the trip…wow, is he not sick from traversing the jangles of Brazil?

It will be just tommorow when we shall be told that he is going to china.

Hehe , you cant blindfold us men….RB is ever in the sky as if he fears a ghost at state house..

  20. @ Maikalange Twamulya no# 14-16 you sound like I know you that good old wise humor. The African art of story telling. hahahahahahaha. The maikalange story is one of my old time favorites.

  21. And did the defence chiefs have to burn fuel to go to the airport to escort Mphande, and also claim for allowances? No. But if RB went, they would have., including shikapwasha and George Kunda.
    Its a great saving

  22. He probably thinks that the trip is not very lucrative just because Botswana is nearer. Can someone remind him that the PULA is strong and he will miss out.

  23. #14 and 16
You tell the stories better…..help ba-LT to lay it down like you do………….hahhahahahhahahahahahahahhahahaahaha
