Gen Miyanda Speaks Out On Faz Wrangles

Share

An unlikely voice has added his voice to the current Faz wrangles as storm clouds gather over the next 72 hours when parallel emergency council meeting’s are held on November 26 and 27 in Lusaka and Kabwe respectively.

Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda said in a press release today that it was unfair for FIFA to side with Faz over the current impasse over the executive committee’s constitutional validity after the resignation of four ex-committee members on October 1.

Gen Miyanda said that FIFA was applying double standards over its stance of non-interference by government in the running of football by its member associations.

“I urged the Minister of Youth and Sport to demand from FIFA to explain why they are happy for the Government of Zambia to fund FAZ from tax payers and yet complain when Government queries FAZ. FIFA regards this as interference!” the former Republican vice president said on Wednesday in his statement.

General Miyanda said FIFA has at any time never had any misgivings about Faz receiving any financial help from government and wondered why as a stakeholder they should not have a say in times of a crisis.

“If it is not interference then FIFA is displaying double standards and must eat their poorly baked cake in silence without crying foul,” Gen Miyanda said.

“In any case why does FAZ always run to Government for support whenever they run short of money for their activities and run to FIFA (ukuya mukobola) when they are quizzed issues by the Government?

“These wrangles could have been avoided had the FAZ leadership acted in a timely manner instead of burying their heads in the sand, wishing the problem to be blown away by the FIFA whirlwind.”

  1. I would like to urge the people meeting on the 26th to also attend the 27th meeting with a set agenda.
Rectify or Ratify the appointees and we then move on.
Soccer has always brought misery to Zed despite all investment of large sums of money.
GRZ should now focus on other ‘lesser’ sports and let FIFA fUND FAZ!
As the general has said,FAZ should have dealt with the concerns from the begining.

  2. Wise people say things that sound like common sense. It makes you feel, “Why didn’t I think of that?” When you struggle to “hear” someone (like someone saying no windfall tax), you should know they belong to a different category to the wise.

  3. # 3 dont just scream, be reasonable.
The General has always been a voice of reason, very rational, very inspiring and can instil discpline in govt if given a chance.
General Miyanda, you have to come out and be in the lime light and help direct the country in the right way. The country has been highjacked by opportunistic plunderers called MMD

  4. How i wish it was general that was awaken from sleep or the tree shade to become president like in the cases of Levy and RB.Mawe.

  5. Simaata Simaata (Stup.id, Stup.id – I didn’t invent the meaning), would be well advised to use the meeting of the 26th to strategise for the 27th which they should attend. Otherwise, as I see it, they’re shooting themselves in the foot as FIFA will end up siding with ‘The Great’ Kalu. As the petitioners who called for the meeting, they should contribute to the agenda of which one of the items should be a vote of confidence in the ‘The Great’ Kalu’s regime.

  6. Too bad the retired, or is it tired, general will never be boma! He has never been boma material – he couldn’t even organise a successul coup in 1980!

  7. “In any case why does FAZ always run to Government for support whenever they run short of money for their activities and run to FIFA (ukuya mukobola) when they are quizzed issues by the Government?”

Ati mukobola Kekekekekkekekekekekekekkekekek ke kekekekekeke ke kekekek kekekekek k ekek keke ke

  8. General you were dribbled by Chiluba, your way of doing things doesnt work, sorry. you should be worried with raising nomination fee again and coming up with enough people to file nominations. How did you expect FAZ to call the meeting when they had not received required 2/3 petitions which up to now some are forged. Remember you did not act quickly on the 3RD TERM until the covention. Anyway you are a retired General.

  9. Even if balikupata even lay people in football bussiness know that there is something wrong. but umuguyz kalu ati its political or rather prejudiciary inflated wrangles

  10. I digress, there was a book i read while in high school entitled: ‘ How to Complain’. I can’t even remember the author but the gist of it all, by the scenarios he was giving, was to emphasise that the way you put forward your complaint was everything. It had to be an art because no matter how legitimate your complaint may be, the way you put it forward will determine whether or not it gets heard and you get the result you want. this is what shimataa and company should have focussed on. But again, much as the majority in this camp are genuinely unhappy and complaining, the process has been hijacked by a few unscrupulous, greedy and narcissistic individuals

  11. Read between the Lines what GENERAL is saying, in every Institution you have Stakeholders and Leaders in these Associations should be held Accountable. Yes why should FAZ – KALU think they can be protected or run to FIFA when they are being questioned. The Zambian Government pays taxpayers Money to Run FAZ. Therefore as Zambians we expect results. Else use the funds wisely and Fund Education or Hospitals.

Kalu’s days are Over he has failed and should resign. He does not deserve even the salary that he is being paid. Get serious Zambians, Kalu live in South Africa? You mean we don’t have other serious good leaders to Run FAZ.

Be wise and get General’s comments seriously. You saw what happened to French Football Team and it’s leadership after the world Cup they were questioned…

  12. A Vote of No confidence must be inserted into the Agenda. Galu must GO. No turning back. We shall regret. yes Galu is our own but he f.u.c.ked up so we get rid of him. next MMD 2011.

  13. It’s sad to see foolish people in zed when someone says sensible staff to em is rubbish just like a mad pipo will look for food in the rubbish bins & seeing normal pipo as mad to em. Alot of pipo have said that galu is not good but fools can’t see wisdom in whatever pipo are saying but instead arguing. Same pipo supported Chiluba third term but when it didn’t go through you see pipo who were side to side with him supporting him not condemning him. Ask satan!! Don’t be foolish call a spade a spade!! Well done General we all know that galu is not good

  14. General you better come back to MMD. The Government should concentrate of other reasonable games like Boxing, Chess, Pool and Basket Ball. Football in Zambia will pick up by 2040. All this FIFA/FAZ rangles are just waste of Government resources. I am better off watching Malawi, Uganda, Liver pool or Man Citi

  15. #16 So then in this case the tax payers are the stakeholders. Mind you these are the same tax payers that voted Kalu in. Miyanda, Simata Simata, and the petitioners do not represent the majority of the tax payers. This is why this issue has gone this far.

  16. Miyanda is speaking nonsense. He should stick to politics or if he fails like he has done then go back to his profession the army. FIFA does not ask FAZ to beg from the GRZ. The government knowing the popularity of the sport voluntarily hands out money to FAZ because if it didn’t it would lose points among voters. This funding does not empower the government to run or interefere in the running of the affairs of FAZ. The government can stop funding FAZ if it wants and FIFA wont bat an eyelid. Ideally the Football Associations are supposed to fund themselves. When FAZ joined FIFA these conditions were expressly spelt out and it was and still is up to FAZ to agree or leave the association. Given whats currently happening in Zambia FAZ could just end up leaving FIFA but FIFA wont mind.

  17. Its sad that people want to criticise General Miyanda for his timely advice. Lets not be emotional on this FAZ issue, it will foolish for anyone not to admit that there are a problems at Football House and people want to run to Zurich for protection instead of analysing the situation and coming up with a solution. What Kalusha should have done was to call for an Emergency Meeting before the situation got worse. Kalu and his mouthpiece the thick lip Erick have caused all this rot. Thats why we are seeing people like Simataa appear wise because the so called Great have taken off theit thinking hats. We need sanity in football admin and certainly FIFA is not helping.

  18. @ Donqueen, i think there is no need for petitioners to attend the 27th meeting since the 26th one will be there to dissolve the FAZ executive and usher in temporal ones before the elections. i also sense danger of FIFA ban although i don’t care since FAZ will have two executives from the 26th and 27th meetings respectively. Gentlemen, the battle has just started; viva petitioners.

  19. Forged signatures and now calling them amature teams, now your meeting should show us all the people you claim signed the petition. Speak only for yourself as a Taxpayer not what I pay. Each one has own tax payer identification number (TPIN). If you hate kalu, some people like him, so dont cheat yourself. Call them blind loyalty or watever but wat do you call your loyalty to those who forged signatures, Bring out issues not innuendos, not graet Galu stuff, you children cud be calling you great cockroach or something since thats your language at home.We know were Charity begins.

  20. # 21 Cabbage, You are not serious, tell us who are the majority? Our country is bleeding all General is saying is let not FIFA play double standards. We the Zambian people and Goverment have the right to question FAZ, Do you honestly think KALU is doing a GOOD JOB. Sorry mate but you have lost it. FAZ is not KALU and his time is Over??? he has failed his Leadership hence these issues. You are the same people that condemn our National team when the perform badly.

We need solid leadership not Kalu nonsense.

  21. I strong believe the General’s knowledge on soccer administration and sponsorship is very limited and as such his comments can only be taken to be a source of ignorance. How much has the current FAZ generated? How many deals have been sealed ? How much is the Govt directing towards the sponsorship of Chipolopolo? We can also do a comparative analysis with the previous FAZ administration

  22. # 26 Just a reminder dont say we (the zambian people) awe awe speak for yourself sheikh not others. No monopoly of thought. some hate you to the extent of forging signatures, some like you. thats how life goes. Accept that and you will discover it is good therapy for your hatred and PHD symptoms.

  23. The General is wise because he usually speaks wisely. However, in the case at hand he is mistaken to suggest that grumblings coming from Simaata’s camp amount to government’s questioning. Government has decided not to intervene, and please, Simaata is neither Government nor representative of majoritytaxpayers. Secondly, the General would have been more helpul to suggest the way forward instead of ending at a mere complaint.

As away forward, Government should now step in, call for a general meeting on Wednesday 1 Dec. and invite the FIFA rep to chair it. PS Mulonga and FIFA rep. should draw agenda from the agendas of 26th and 27th meetings. Then we move foward.

  24. Kalusha, kuya bebele mailo. Tomorrow, a new FAZ will be ushered into office rendering the Saturday meeting illegal and irrelevant as it will be converned by rebels. KALUSHA and his gang of Marcha Chilemena and George Kasengele are all rebels. Proper rebels!!!

  25. Things an’t just going on well at the moment in our country, you hear of floods in the hospital and the FAZ issue! Things must be amended.

  26. I sense apprehension when ever the general speaks people in Zambia fear an honest leader. Ubuhule would be cut by 2/3 in government and the country if mutants were tobecome president and that scares a lot of Zambian men because then the would have no game. Money doesn’t always talk especially if the woman is already made. Can I get a witness.

  27. # 31 The Devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. Iam scared now they may end up killing everyone at 27 nov meeting, spare their lives, just destroy our football through petitions, factions and counter factions.

  28. Agreed the Government allocates tax payers’s money to run football, it is not a favour but an obligation as wished by the tax payers! At the end of the day these guy have differed over money! Ba Simata had a chance to run FAZ but he failed! The only way the game will go grow is when companies start investing in football like the way ZCCM did but the new investors are not interested, may be the Chinese companies will start doing so after they finish building the Ndola stadium!

  29. ok! general miyanda takes on fifa…. a bit weird???? i thought he loved the political desk and was busy by now….sqeezing the life out of Rapiah’s next political ambitions like the way king cobra sata is doing. am disappointed! anyway u never know what these dodgy zedian politicans are up to ??? is it minister of sports or minister of football in the next government… time will tell…..

  30. KALUSHA IS JUST OKAY ,WE ZAMBIAN WE JUST DONT APPRECIATE, EVEN IF WE BRING THE
SON OF GOD TO BE FIFA PRESIDENT WE WIIL STILL COMPLAIN.
