Given that Zambians don’t have a lot of their foreign-based players in their squad, the game will be very close to call. I feel Zambians, as a guest team, will not be as motivated as the Ethiopians. As far as the short passing game style, Ethiopian have been playing that style way before anyone in Africa. I hope the Ethiopian coach plays with 5 midfielders and a lone striker. We have very skillful players in the midfield. @ Galileo, Ethiopian never played or never been known for long ball. Our main weakness is not being physically as strong and big as most of our other African players. We also need to work on our defensing and play more tactically disciplined game. If we could manage to do those things, I think we have a good chance to win this game.

    Actually Ethiopians can only play this way. If you watch their league, you wouldn’t believe that you may not see more than a handful of shots. They play short pass starting from the goal keeper to the end of the opposition line. In one match I attended, I never saw a goal keeper shooting a ball to the opposition field.

    Funny enough, a lot has been tried to combine short and long pass game, with speed and aggression, and didn’t materialize at all. Surprisingly the current Ethiopian team in Cecafa have got the chemistry almost right. They also shot good…..I think one or two players from this team are good enough to play even in Europe. So I don’t think the game would be “walking in the park” for Zambia. It will be decided by small details.
