Confusion is loaming at Livingstone’s Seventh Day Adventist(SDA) with a protestant group accusing the mother body of introducing idol worship in the church contrary to the church doctrines however local pastors refute the claims.
This is after a member of the Airport SDA church, who addressed himself as elder Durton Nanga called for a Press Conference to address issues he termed as abomination.
In his letter that was obtained by Lusakatimes, Mr Nanja said the current Livingstone West Mission, South Zambia Conference and Zambia
Union Conference of the SDA church leadership had introduced symbols,Idols and Image worshiping.
He further said the act of idol worship was introduced without the consent of the local churches.
“ Gods written word rebukes this abomination, we have been asking them to repent and remove the Idols from the churches of God since July 2010 to
date”, he said.
“ They have continued to install more Idols everyday, the Lord of Heaven is angered by their actions and God is about to take action against them and those who support and worship Idols” he stated.
But Livingstone District Pastor in the Western Division Pastor Kawana Kashweka, who is also Pastor-In-Charge has refuted claims that the church is worshiping Idols.
In his counter Press Statement circulated in the Media,Pastor Kashweka said Mr.Nanja has no authority in the Church.
“ First of all Mr Nanja is not an elder but just a member, secondly it is not the policy of the church to call a Press conference neither is it biblical” he said.
Pastor Kashweka said he advised Mr Nanja that those issues raised were internal matters but he continued by writing to the Provincial President and gave him a 3 week ultimatum. When the president did not respond and he further wrote to the National President who referred the matter to the district.
Pastor Kashweka also disclosed that Mr Nanja told the National President that the local leadership was doing nothing.
Pastor Kashweka said Mr Nanja was too quick and that he should hold his fire and wait for dialogue. He further advised members of the Press not to
attend the Press Conference.
He has also threatened that the church will excommunicate him if he goes ahead with the press briefing.
Sunday December 29 has been set as the day for the Press Conference organized by the protestant, Elder Nanja.
LT, you should have shown us pictures of the idols and symbols, Elder Nanja is talking about instead of that file photo. However I await his press conference.
now the church of xst is on fire to bad why did elder nanga do that he has to tell the people the truth which idol worship is he talking about.
LT, in this particular instance, the quality of your reporting is very poor indeed! Couldn’t you find out whether indeed there were idolatorous practices being introduced at that assembly, so you could properly inform your readers?
That Nanga man should have atleast mention the type of idols the church is worshiping or better still diplay a sample.
Mr. Nanja acted in what i may call fundamentalistic and lack of knowledge were scripture is concerned. What is an idol? It is not wrong to put an image in Church e.g an image of an angel, Jesus or anything which comes as a symbol of the Holy Spirit, but idoll worship comes in when people believe in deity as a replacement of God. An image of cross in some of the Churches is just a symbol to remind them each time they look at it how Christ died and saved humankind. But of cos u cannot put a dead snake, the head of a human being or the skin of the Leopard, human blood, skeleton etc these are what i may call extra ordinary. I may be wrong my dear bloggers that maybe Mr. Nanja is just frustrated coz he is not an elder, coz next time he will start revealing his bedroom issues. God is for us all.
As usual useless reporting by Lusaka Times. This kind of empty of substance reporting is familiar to Komboni type. Lusaka times wake and be real. Research and then report. This is pure kachepa type familiar with primary school pupils discussions. Nonsense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr Nanja, do a self examination of the spirit influencing you to behave in a way you’re behaving because it might be the same spirit behind idol worshiping.Follow the biblical counsels of resolving issues in church than adopting the “hollier than thou” attitude.
NO true Christian who believes in the One Almighty God can “worship” an image or any statue!!
Dont know why Africans are so brain-washed and obsessed about this imported religion called ‘christianity’. Have better things to do with my time then endless arguments about what is or is not written in the bible.
Nanga or Nanja, can you please ellaborate or indicate to the readers the type of idol worship you are talking about.
LT, confusion is loaming or looming?
I thank you bloggers for the constructive approach to this issue, I see no reason this Br Nanja should go to the media to resolve spriritual matters-I pray that he repents of his decision, the church has channels of resolving all such issues which go through the local church before it even researches the District pastor then off to the Field president (Provincial pastor as mentioned above)..let the brother be specific on what he is talking about..this church still as the same fundamental beliefs from inception..what is it that has changed that all are not aware of but just him.
He should exaamine himself and check which spirit is using him as we go ahead in praying for him that our sovereign LORD JESUS CHRIST should have mercy on him
catholic church infiltrating the SDA
Dont forget that Christainity is nt even for african. remember that african since time in memorial used to worship different gods like big trees, rocks u can name them . the ideal behind was simply to remind us of a suprem creator… the nanga chat is suffering from temperoal lobe epilepsy his either nt very normal or he wants to be recognised. the best advise i can tell hm is to stop cofusing the church, to confess his insanity . if all this fells then he can go to hell…
Idols caused MOSES to crush the ten commandmets and now look at this, honest the church of God is slowly bringing it in.Why ? brethren lets not conderm this man, what is talked about is real in this church of God. We need to be just prayerful otherwise Satan is using the most elect this time. l ll pray 4 u all broggers at 12:30 pm, if u can join me 4 only 3min.
Shalim Shalom…..is it Nanga or Nanja? Has their “Lord of heaven” got a picture? ……. is it the popular pic of a white man that jewish dude from Yerushalaim?
Has the worship of Baal returned?! Beware, Yahweh will smite you—kekekekekekekek!!!
I knew Maestro’s church had some idols they worship. Him has picked HH as his idol and not a single sentence goes without mentioning is holy idol. And in the process calls Sata – Satan. Oops, They said Livingstone, where does Maestro live? Livingstone. That is why he blogs from ZED and Botswana.
mr ng’anga, rather nanga learn to follow the straight foward protocals of the church. How do you call for a press conference in your individual capacity by passing all the protocols? you are just a bitter protestant not elected for any position for 2011,presumably becoz of your unbelief.
Are there any school teachers on the blog? Can you see the confusion you have caused. Can you see the unbaked products you are churning out? It is always an ordeal to read news reports from any of Zambia’s media. Perhaps we should just shut all of them down. “Confusion is loaming at the SDA with a protestant group accusing..” What is to loam? The last time I was in class 20 years ago, my teacher told me loam is some type of soil. Protestant group? The SDA are protestants. As for substance the story tells us nothing. Is it the journalism school to blame or the foundation schools?
LT the above picture for pathfinders has got nothing to do with the subject of the matter neither does it depict the message of the headline.Be professionals as you can do better than this.
Ba LT please avoid gossiping and verify some of the things you report about. We want to know what images/idols were installed in the church and if indeed they were installed and how they were worshiped.
I conquer with those suggesting that LT should have obtained facts as they are on the ground,e.g current pictures of those perceived idols in the church,or witness an actual worship of such idols. It doesnt pay to have outdated pictures.
I pray Br.Nanja to heed to advice and desist from addressing the so called Conference of his. He appears to have backsliden in faith by rushing church matters to the press rather than forwarding them to heaven in prayer. Lusaka Times is not The SDA Church Manual, neither is it a Church Business nor Church Board.
Br.Nanja kindly reflect on your actions or leave the church of God alone before you become liable to excommunication.
# 12 God forgive your soul for you speak from not what you know but what you think.
Why are most of you condemning Nanga. Pastor Kashweka has not refuted the Nanga’s allegations but just calling for dialogue. Nanga must have some truth
No.12 ulelanda ngauli nechishinka ichapwililika. Wilaesha kusongelekanya amalyashi. Although nganibaka tolika ngachili kwati katwi…nomba iyi…twaimwenafye pa LT. bu t LT naimwe muchampuke muku repota kwenu. hear, investigate, be sure and then send us pictures to prove your stories.
i hate churches which erect idols of maria mutakatifu, you find images of a supposedly jesus christ and some churches bow down before such effigies to pray. I hope this isnt happening to 7th day. we only worship to one Jehovah God and not idols
Br. Namja has some truth in him. let us wait for the 29th December when he holds his press conference. If there is a church which does not believe in dialogue and religious liberty, then its SDA! So many things are happening but members can not come out as Nanja because the moment you do that, then you are disciplined..thats ungodly brethren! this man is refuting the organisation of worhip services… church identity (log and emblem)some doctrinal issues of the trinity and other issues like ordination of female persons as pastors. these are things which are not allowed to spoken about as one will be disciplined. they come from General Conference in the US and are never allowd to be debated by local faithful members at chuch or branch level. am blogging from 400km from livingstone..its real
What are the idols under dispute, is true those idols have been introduced. Facts have not been brought out in this issue making it difficult for us to comment objectively.
However, a fundamental issue has been raised, who should defend the Church when its perceived to have gone wrong rather misguided by the Local leadership? Is it GOD himself or the Members of the CHURCH?
Once upon a time, I used to send money back home to help people improve their livelihood, everytime time I did so they started thanking a God who never wrote them a check or send them money via western union, I always felt that I was not appreciated one bit for my effort of trying to improve their lives by sharing the little that I had, they even started giving 10% of whatever I sent them to the ‘church’ as a way to give back to God what he’d given them, then I stopped sending help! Guess if their God is sending them help from above? They would probably be better of praising an ‘Idol’ that they see and touch than a picture of a muzungu from a country that is killing and abusing the human rights of our african brothers and sistas!!!
my brother #30.. God will cutt-off your sourse of money and riches. that is worse of a human being to behave. God supplies you those coins you share with your family and your family in turn praise God for giving them a son/daughter like you who shares his/her sweet. many are the pipo doing fine in life but have never remembered to give to their village! God is more interseted with such an offering than the tithe ‘they’ give in church.
Don’t wait for God to come and sign a cheque or shout blessings to you…your mere living is a blessing because you sent help home! some pipo perished at the same hour wen you were spared! This end of year 2010, spend time and reflect at how u escaped through…then tell God that even this 2011, Lord do the same!!
Amen!!
#31, let him prove it by starting with you first, u brainwashed slave!
#31, is your God the same one who let his flock perish while praising him? What a joker! I could make a better one, honestly!!
#31 one more thing, I cut his off first when I stopped sending them ‘chicken change’ of which he was going to profit 10% out of it! Preety smart move dont ya think?
Chimunya#9 Africans are prone to all sorts of religious brainwashing because they have no self pride. The people who have brainwashed Africans mainly Europeans and Arabs come from a history of great self pride. Faced with people they can’t conquer Africans choose to be subservient to the invaders’ ideologies. If u look at Africa its inhabitants are Christian where Europeans arrived first and Moslems where the Arabs arrived first. This tells you that the people who are making noise to you about Christ being the only way to salvation would have been busy telling you the same things about Muhammad had the Arabs arrived first here. They have no choice but follow the invader. Look at Nigeria: blacks of the same creed have been brainwashed by foreign religions into believing the ‘christian’…
Is not your brother but an infidel who should be killed. The Christian believes the Moslem is a Gentile who if not killed should be abhored. The result? 2 million indigenous Africans have killed themselves in Nigeria in the name of supernatural beings idolised by our invaders! With our strong belief in the powers that live outside ourselves we easily have become a playground for what we see as superior foreign religions. These religions always start off by trashing all our beliefs so that we have no leg to stand on. This kills any selfpride we may have had and from then on we are lost because we always need guidelines from the owners of the new religions whenever we are at a loss.
This translates into a slave mentality whenever we r faced with any challenge. We then have to go back all…
all the time to the man with superior religion or superior technology when our TV breaks down,or there is a drought. We don’t think we have the capacity to solve these problems because after all we have been condemned by the almighty. It is in the scriptures! This perpetual dependance on the foreigner is perpetuated even more with intimidating propaganda that if u don’t obey these foreigners u will suffer and if u don’t subscribe to these ideologies like Cheelost#31 says this God can cut off supplies. Why when he is at the same time portrtayed to be an all forgiving all knowing being. Contradiction! However to get back to the topic of the african’s emancipation: he needs to start by restoring self pride self love. He should idolise himself and his own. He cannot go about liviing in…
the temporary comfort zone of adopting foreign names foreign dress in the hope he can disguise his way to the invader’s God’s heaven! Only when his pride is restored will he have the confidenmce to take charge of his environment, his resources, his mental capacities and his future. As it is now he has entrusted his future to a stranger!
This is quite deep. I hope bloggers can get the wisdom therein
Mr Nanga has nothing to do ,so he is just buying time because this is not the time to argue such things.
