Fifa Statement On Mondays Zurich Meeting

Share

Here is the Fifa press statement from its website on the meeting it held with Zambian football and governement officials.

A meeting on the situation of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has taken place today, 20 December 2010, at the Home of FIFA in Zurich.

The meeting was chaired by FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter, FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke, and Confederation of African Football (CAF) representative Magdi Shams el Din, and included Zambian Minister of Sport Kenneth Chipungu, chairman of National Sports Council of Zambia Chifumu Banda, FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya, FAZ general secretary George Kasengele, FAZ legal expert Antony Kasolo, and representatives of the opposition to the current FAZ Executive Committee, Andrew Kamanga and Simataa Simataa.

During the meeting, it was confirmed that Kalusha Bwalya is the legitimate FAZ president. In the event that some FAZ members want to table a motion of non-confidence against him and his Executive Committee, such a motion would have to be presented at the next general council scheduled on March 2011, following the proper procedures established in the FAZ statutes. As such, if FAZ members would like to lodge such a request for inclusion on the agenda of a council meeting, it shall notify the FAZ general secretary at least 21 days before the date of the meeting. This notification can be copied to FIFA and CAF, which in turn will make sure that it is properly addressed by the FAZ general secretariat.

FIFA and CAF will continue to monitor closely the Zambian situation and they will send representatives to the March 2011 general council meeting.

FIFA would like to thank all the participants in the meeting for their constructive attitude which has allowed them to find an agreement on the current situation of the FAZ.

  1. Hey kamanga and simaata, this is life, you may not always have it your way. lets allow FAZ to run till march. its only under three months and you can do a vote. I am definately not happy but this is how it has turned out.

  2. “….. and representatives of the opposition to the current FAZ Executive Committee, Andrew Kamanga and Simataa Simataa.”

Where does it say New FAZ Committee? Kamanga and Simata, should read how they were referred to by FIFA. They are merely OPPOSITION TO CURRENT FAZ EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. Meaning their committee is not actually legal as Zambia does not have opposition FAZ just like there is no opposition FIFA.

  3. Kalusha ninshimbi umuguys! I just wonder how he can really work well in such an enviroment were he is dissed by almost everyone surrounding him. If I were him, I would simply throw in a towel and walk out with some dignity as his days are almost numbered.

  4. Trotters says:
Simataa Simataa’s committee are just trouble makers too ambitious to reap where they never sowed. It is clear from FIFA that Kalusha”s executive will remain in power until March 2011. All concerns must be addressed to Kasengele. There is no parallel agreement that Simataa and company will also share power with FAZ. Councillors now should be weary of the intentions of the Simatkam group.

  5. the writing was already on the wall that kalu will prevail on this coz FIFA being an organisation that thrives on rigidity and dictatorship beyond compare support their own. simata and company should have shunned the meeting as it was a waste of time and precedence from similar FIFA cases should taught them otherwise. I concur with #2 that 3 months is a short time to wait and plot a strategy.

  6. Yaba, going all the way to Zurich to be told, WTF, who the hell are you and were you invited??? Simataa and his crony Andrew must just wait for their time, march 2011 is not far.

  7. thanks you .this was not taken to the zambian courts .otherwise our kalu would have been history .the influence of zambian politics is limited to the boarders of zambia.abena kalu ninshimbi .mwanya amafi.
FIFA cannot encourage anarchy .and for those of you who separate democracy from institutions,do u see how silly it is for that whole entourage to only be told in few words what we have always been saying .pure common sense .ah .its zambia what can we say ,just look at the politics and the poverty ,no one links the two .everyone is an expert with no beneficial result .wake up

  8. elections will be held in march 2011. fifa is trying to be economical with the truth. kalusha didnt want this so in real sense its the kamanga team which has won

  9. Why is Kalusha still sticking to this position even when it is clear his leadership is bring problems to the game. The best the chap must do is to step aside for the benefit of the game. Now the chap is acting like a politician wanting to remain in power even when people do not like you. Personally I do not trust those old men at FIFA I smell a bad rat every timeI see Blatter shaking his hands and opening his mouth

  10. Any level minded individual in Kalu’s boots would step down on moral grounds, just to save some intergrity, u cant force yourself to rule the people. But its clear from the on goings that the little educated Kalu will literally have nothing to do after leaving FAZ. On the other hand, the Kamanga group used a wrong formula, they could have attended the Kalu organised meeting on 27th and brought up the issue of no confidence. How did they expect Kalu and group to hand over power the way they did? do u need to quarel to get into power? amaPolitics ya nsala pa Zambia! we’re now a roughing stone to the ouside world. Can some one find jobs for Kalu, Shimata and Kamanga so that baleke ukutusebanya please! Cant alabee send them in foreign service plz? let them go and cook for the diplomats!!!

  11. Is it only me who has been following Simaata that wherever he is, he thinks to the negative?? Now can someone educate me, does he want to always be the winner??? Please Bo Simaata, try to be part of progressive team rather always retrogressive, thinking aloud!!!!!!!

  12. The only time Simataa did something positive was when he was our Scouts Leader at Riverside Police Station and I was a cub scout in his troop. He was quite active but it seems he lost it after UNZA. Former Mukuba Secondary School students say he was quite an overzealous prefect. I cannot attest to that because I was in primary school then, but when I became a teacher at Mukuba, his old teachers seemed to like his zeal and tenacity.

  13. Kalusha hasnt been saved by the bell. His just been given time to pack his bags and leave FAZ in March. Kalu must be booted out together with Anthony Kasolo & his entire inept committee. Infact the other members should also resign leaving ka Kasengele, Shenko and Marcha. The twits.

Now is the time for campaigns to start to get rid of Kalusha. We have seen how Kalu suddenly he is grounded in Zambia a thing he never did before. Not even FIFA will save him now. The Zambians will deliver the denied victory, getting rid of Kalusha.

  14. kalusa is forcing himself on FAZ coz he has nothing else to do esp that he also failed as coach. Look at his friends such a Abedi Pele we have never heard of such nonsense of forcing himself. When pipo dont want u just resign. Galu is now behaving like Gbagbo. N way march is near he will be given marching orders

  15. #15 Nshilandalanda, I don’t know your level of education for u to question Kalu’s. It is not a “roughing stone” …but a “laughing-stock” . Please, don’t let yo anger expose yo ignorance. Shame on you.

  16. My advise to Kalusha is that as of now it is plainly clear that Come March or if he delays delays the General Council (Which is Obvious), then come April, His presidency will be History, it is up to him now to mend fences with the April ‘in coming executive’ for him to be given even a passive role in the running of football in this country. All of us know that Kalusha has done nothing but football. He has failled as a coach and he has again lamentably failled as a football administrator, so I personally feel for him because apart from selling sports attire what else shall he do?????????????

  17. That is more like it LT…report in a realistic manner…then we can comment, intelligently. VIVA Kalu…my friend forever!

  18. Kalusha Bwalya is one of the very few heroes we have in this country. I recall watching him during the Seoul Olympics in 1988, the Africa cups in 1992, 1994, 1996 etc. His coming to FAZ helped us to cease begging from the government for assistance to having a sound and financially viable FAZ. There is over K3 bn in the FAZ account as we speak. The man has drive and has used it to the benefit of this country. Zambian soccer is even now being watched on Supersport. As much as some people might have negative remarks about him, he has modernized Zambian football. Without people like him, we would still be wallowing in retched poverty we were in. Simataa should just wait for his term during the next elections. Football is not about education, its about entertainment n’ Kali know this.

  19. Finally, we are now a “roughing stone to the world” because of Simataa and Kamanga…lol
These two should learn to follow procedure. As it stands, they are at the mercy of Kasengele and I doubt if Kasengele will even table their item on the agenda of the march/april AGM

  20. Based on FIFA’s ruling whether we are happy with it or not, Kamanga and Simata should now leave the running of football to the legitimate FAZ. Let them wait for the AGM. Kamanga has no powers. If has the best interest of football at heart let him and Simata humble themselves and support Kalu until the AGM is held. Guys grow up. Why are yoy so desperate for power?

  21. You guys FIFA hasn’t said that Kamanga and Simataa where wrong they have just given time of which to have elections which is March-2011 and not 2012. So pls these guys where in the right Channel but have been given time to hold elections.

  22. So ona kukapa ku ee. Viva Kalu, viva Kasengele. Abash Kamanga and Simata. Mind you Kalu is Sepp`s son, don`t you remember what happened to World Cup campain in South Africa, he was also influencial.

  23. That’s life … very unfair. If life was fair:
    -Mazoka would have been president of ZED before his death;
-No life would have been lost in Ivory Coast due to one loser refusing to quit honourably
-Mugabe would be resting in peace
    -should I continue?

  24. As much as we dont like Kalu…he has done much for zed football and we should thanks him for that. Simataa and group only want to bring confusion. I dont trust Simataa any bit he is just as talkative as the MMD politicians…he could be one of them! On Match 2011 General Council we should vote for credible leaders who want to develop zed football from Kalu and team took it and NOT SIMATAA’S GROUP. They are good in as opposition.

  25. # 20, 24 & 28; why do you guys like raughing and tizzing us bembas, for your infor, we dont care, as rong as the message is crear, thats what matter with us…

raugh as much as you can, we dont care…:((

  26. Galu, Master dribbler. We all know how corrupt FIFA is, too big for its own good and supporting its stooges. They simply decided to disregard Zambian Government’s position that Galu is opperating illegally. I say March 2011 is too far. During this period they will find another way of dribbling the Zambian people. It’s time the Government pulls the funding plug on FAZ and channel the resources to other sports. Let’s see whether FIFA will be funding their baby. It’s time we take a firm stand on this as a country.

  27. Do you people who think kalu will be no more in march, know the calibre of people that run the majority of FAZ afilliates. All kalu will do is organise donations (with the help of fifa of course) for the tuma small teams between now and march and “hey presto!!!” vote of no confidence yaluka.

  28. “we’re now a roughing stone to the ouside world.” naimwe tabaseka sana abenu this language came with a boat ku afrika ala kalatulika limo. The dude has a better point tho ,compared to most of the bloggers on this thread.Time for galu to book for his flight ticket back to joberg after the march meeting.

  29. Kamanga should have been warned before departure that guests are not allowed to carry livestock into the Fifa offices. He should have left Simaata, back in Zambia. A little bird told me that Blatter was not happy that all the staff had to abandone their posts to keep Simaata under control.
There are lessons to be learned here. Sorry Kamanga…

  30. FIFA Statement: This scenario is only possible in Africa because these guys called FIFA dont jst care. For starters, why did Kalu and Georg leave earlier that scheduled? Why did they go with Kasolo who was not invited? When you look at the Kamanga group, 75% form the premier league, above 70% form division 1 north and south, a good number of division 2 e.t.c why would FIFA fail to appreciate this fact? if there was a split, which group will have a league to run? FIFA must be seen for what they are, a rigid, backward and corrupt cult. How can they dictate terms to the Govt who are the financier of FAZ via the taxes we pay? If i was kamanga, i will advocate for the creation of another body to run zambian football regrdless of FIFA recognition and see which football Kalu will run.

  31. this was all a waste of taxpayers money.abena kamanga na simataa are just troublemakers!!they even knew that they are an illegal commitee but ifikansa fye!!any way i give them a pat on the back, they can now legitimately throw out Kalu’s administration if at all they can by march next year!!Ba Kalu, there is no smoke without fire. You have a problem aswell and you need to acknowledge it and try to work towards resolving your issues.i don’t think that abena simataa just hate you.there’s a reason bakamba!!

  32. #40 i can see u are cracking the best way is form your own world football governing body or take your BP pills before we lose u .!!!!

  33. #36, when last did you hear that FAZ had gone GRZ with a begging bowl??!! be truthful and honest. For the first time FAZ has managed to pay off its creditors from K6bn to now K1bn, and recently signed a K7bn deal with MTN, with more to come from other organisations. Lets talk figures and facts and not let petty jealousies and greed mislead us like they misled Simata and Kamanga. Don’t be a “roughing stone” here ok!!

  34. By March some other chap will rise and win the FAZ presidency. Those who fight the battles never actually enjoy the fruits of there labor. Kamanga, man, good yu tried and brought the elections forward, but this time it wont be an unopposed contest.

  35. They still cant believe, lets go to march 2011. They will still be shocked again. They have made Kalu stronger now than he was before this nonsense. They have tried to entice him to resign to save face. But which face. So that they take over.

  36. If indeed the interpretation of the FIFA statement meanz a possible election at the March 2011(and not 2012), then I can see a situation where our great Kalu goez round FAZ affiliates leaving no stone unturned to win.

  37. Iam Simata no longer works for Finance Bank so he is looking for a job. Former footballers work up and take your rightful places. you are the right people to fight and jostle for FAZ jobs. All these blood suckers, parasites and ticks out. Find other things to do. Let footballers run their affairs.

  38. This is an extract from the BBC news website. The full article can be read from there

“But a group led by businessman Andrew Kamanga – dismissed as “football anarchists” by Bwalya – argued that the decision to co-opt new members on to the Faz executive committee has no legal basis.

Reacting to Fifa’s statement, Andrew Kamanga, who was also at the meeting, said he was happy with Fifa’s stand.

“This is what we’ve wanted all along,” he told the BBC.

“Fifa has recognised that there is an underlying problem with [Bwalya’s] legitimacy.

“This is why they’ve said we should go and table a motion for a vote of no-confidence,” he stated.

“From our side we are satisfied that we will have elections come the next general meeting in March,” Kamanga continued.”

  39. You thought he is not used to critism but only hero worshiped such that he would easily give in to innuendos. You should be ashamed the guy is much stronger at heart and does not even talk about all his haters. EYES ON THE BALL.

  40. #30 Take note tha fifa has not said hold election in 2011. the rebel faction of Andrew and Simata were just advised on following proper procedure…and that they should submit for consideration to SG of FAZ for consideration of the agender for 2011. please staop misinteroreting fifa advise to the rebel group as that of calling for elections next year.
Thats not what that statement reads you kwangalas read again and understand what fifa is trying to drive home here.
Kalu for Presidency. We were you in 2011 and again wire you in 2012.
    You kwangalas.

  41. We’ll wait for march so we can legitimately remove the arogant former African Footballer of the year. The elections are just around the corner. Enough time for Galu, Kabiye Ukasengele, the fired journalist/ communications mismanager, Erika Mwanza and the rest of the crew to pack their bags

  42. Kalusha is for now the legitimate FAZ president. It is so shameful for Kamanga to claim he has the power from Zurich and even distort the outcome of the meeting.
I have the following questions for some of you the pro kamanga chaps?

    1. What has Kamanga achieved in football in this country whether as an administrator or even Amateur player? Making k5billion has nothing to do with managing football. The business is his and so what anyway?
    2. Has Kamanga even administered even a club and made it win trophies.? The same applied to Simataa
    3. Which FAZ executive in the history of this country has had so much positive responses from the corporate world to the extent of getting the league sponsored for several entities e.g supersport, KCM and now MTN

  43. if you are lucky and we include your ealtion agenda item on for next year’s AGM we will still wire and wire you! Kalu knows the game than you kwangas that keep fighting him. you recalled the league to order CAF had already selected teams that were going to play in the confederation based on the league closure of the Kalu exec. So you Kamanga and Simata what will you tell the people?? kuti wa pa pa sana. mwe

  44. After the meeting Kalusha started miggling with his friends working at FIFA whilst the others rushed to the airport to avoid missing the plane.

    Great Kalu…..eyes on the ball

  45. I thank the pipo who made me interim president for a shot while. Please be informed that during my tenure I had great opportunity to meet people I have just seen on TV. It was like a dream come true, Imagine I sat in the same office with people like Sepp Blatter, Jerrrome Vlakie and our own Zambian Great, Kalusha Bwalya. If it wasnt for you i wouldnt have had an opportunity to fly to Zurich to meet such people. It was a nice experience. Sorry I couldnt represent your interests as I was busy looking and not believing my eyes. It was like an eclipse, by the time I realized that it was real, the meeting was over. I appeal to you people to orginise another comflict so that I can go there, this time I wont dissappoint you as I am now used to them.
    Kamanga/ Simata

  46. FINAL SAY: YOU HAVE ALL SPOKEN AND EXPRESSED YOUR VIEWS, BUT THE FINAL RULING BY FIFA IS THAT KALU IS CURRENTLY THE LEGITIMATE FAZ PRESIDENT; THAT IS WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT. KAMANGA AND SIMATAA AS FOR NOW HAVE LOST THIS ONE!!!

THIS TOPIC IS CLOSED AND I HOPE I AM THE FINAL BLOGGER TO GIVE THE FINAL SAY!!!!!

  47. How can you have people who went there for holidays. Ba Simata/ Kamanga mukambefye ama compain ayamu 2012. Nayo mukalusa pantu Zambia ikafika mu Africa Cup Finals and we ll put back ba Kalu mu power.

  48. Whether you like it or you don’t. Kalu will still be FAZ president until he finishes his term of office. No thief will steal what belongs to him.Could someone tell me how Simataa is going to succeed with the no confidence vote when they only had 123 out of the over 250 registered attend their meeting. And could someone please tell me how many attended Kalu’s meeting. Please people get your facts right.Don’t be misled.

  49. While Mazembe is busy making strategies for next year, Zambia is busy wallowing in mediocrity and trying to usurp power from those that really have eyes on the ball. What a shame. Is it true that Kamanga is RB’s nephew? If so, what is the problem with this family? Soon his uncle will behave like Gbagbo of Ivory Coast when Sata hammers him in the next elections.

  50. The pettiness! No one can explain what it is that Kalu has done to deserve this. If truly we have followed Football Administration over the last twenty years then we should at the very least give Kalusha his dues. The man has a vision for Zambian Football and he has demonstrated his this in a myriad of ways. No one critic of his can give anyone what it is that he has failed so miserably in that he must be subjected to mid-term shenanigans. Like any good leader, he will have those that dislike his firmness, ironically it is what FAZ has needed for years. For once people like Blatter that have done more for furthering football than the last 25 FAZ committees combined actually respect FAZ. But we insist on going back to the BS. Ignorance at it’s highest level.

  51. I was young when i watched kalu dribble through the opponent side and score many goals.you kalu were a great player in your time. you famous as well because you’re a hard worker. i envy u though you may not be as good when it comes to managing others.
see, this scenario is what is prevailing on our political platform. sata, well known with many supporters. hes a good organizer but certainly may not make a good president because hes not a manager, like you kalu you have the name but not the know how of management. kamanga like hh is the right guy to manage faz because they are managers.mwanawasa perfomed, am so sure hh can even do better. hh if you read this know you have one vote from me and my household.

  52. I don’t know why these opposing chaps are crying for? For the money, sponshorship and connections, ‘I’ have generated which they wouldn’t have done themselves? Let me work for the development of Zambian football.
    (not real Kalusha).

  53. what has Kalu Done again… to deserve all this abuse????. Tell me again, spineless, people like munaile, where going to Simataa, with internal FAZ issues instead of tabling them in FAZ meetings…. why? and the “Majority resigned”… how on earth? shouldn’t they have forced the minority to do that??
Given the level of debates in the forum… I really don’t expect any answers… am just bored… hope one or two people will have enough sense to calm and stop calling people names. There is Order in FIFA.. and equality… you cant even compare the UN to FIFA… this was the best outcome to the FIFA meeting… Grow UP… Alaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  54. Heya! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any issues with
hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing months of hard work
due to no backup. Do you have any solutions to prevent hackers?
