President Rupiah Banda has urged Zambians to ignore prophets of doom saying this year’s polls will be marred by violence.

The President said contrary to what some political leaders are saying, he is optimistic that people would go to the polls without engaging in any form of violence, as Zambians cannot turn against one another.

Mr. Banda said such negative statements have the potential to scare away foreign investors and must be discouraged.

He has re-assured the nation that this year’s tripartite elections would be held in a peaceful and transparent manner.

Mr Banda noted that the polls would be conducted in accordance with laid down electoral regulations and guidelines.

And President Banda has directed the MMD leadership in the North Western Province to ensure that more voters are captured in the region ahead of this year’s tripartite elections.

Mr Banda said he is not happy that the North Western province has not captured as many voters compared to other regions.

President Banda was speaking on arrival at Solwezi airport this morning when he addressed residents who welcomed him.

Meanwhile, Mr Banda has predicated that opposition Patriotic Front leader Michale Sata would not win this year’s elections because he has now become a perpetual loser with nothing to offer the country.

He has urged MMD Members country wide to go flat out and campaign ahead of this year’s polls, so that the ruling party retains power with more votes.

Mr. Banda said his Government would continue taking development to all parts of the country.

President Banda is accompanied to the North Western Province by Parliamentary Chief whip Vernon Mwaanga, Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane and his Works and Supply counterpart Mike Mulongoti.

The President was welcomed by Provincial Minister Daniel Kalenga, Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande and Youth, Sport and Child Development Minister Kenneth Chipungu.

  1. There is just a lot of baseless unpatriotic sensation in tabloids when the opposite is true on the ground. The victim of these sensationalists are those in the diaspora that heavily depend on irresponsible tabloids for current affairs. The wishful thinkers’ calls, hallucinations and cowardly announcements of a few hired thugs does not mean the country is on fire. Institutions and the law haven’t resigned from reinforcing national interest. The few thugs and their sponsors in the diaspora all identified have no space or capacity to circumvent national will on law and order. There is responsible leadership of the BRE and state in Western province. We dare them start their terrorism and wishful independence on January 14th, 2011 as announced. At the stroke of a pen, terrorists will perish.

  2. Prophet of dooms are making weird statements to appease desperate enemies of Zambia known as ready for sponsorship of anarchy they can reap from. There is blood money to be a prophet of doom against a peace model country that Zambia is. But such blood money comes with life and a future to the prophet.

  3. All prophets of doom will be shamed this year like we have shamed them before. Together with their tabloids whose scribes just sit in the coffee rooms dreaming up imaginary stories and quoting non existent ‘high placed sources,’ will taught a lesson this year when their prefered political joker cleanly loses this year’s election without a drop of blood being shed.

  4. # 3 Anti United Zambia,

I refer you to my entry # 47 under that awards thread. I don’t blog to appease you but to express my position on national affairs based on my value system. You may want to know that security studies and leadership, excessive love for praise is inimical to public office. People who are passionate in soliciting praises are susceptible to inimical compromise. I remain unflinchingly in solidarity for Zambia than appeasements from Ghost who will never even meet or know me in their lives. To me its about Zambia selflessly period. Again read # 47 under the Award thread. Meanwhile you can inconsequentially hate us to death but keep enjoying LT for free LoL! I know its an enduring puzzle for you over the years.

Get on and give us staright answers you OLD MAN. If your mind is as tired as you, go back to the small mabala instead of wasting our precious time.

  6. what you use to think rupiah? your A.H? Zambian by nature are peaceful people but you have been advocating and promoting violence amongst them for your political expedience.

You will held personally responsible and accountable should any form of violence break out in our country. We all know you have another country you can easily run to.

It very easy to remove your immunity, ask your consultant
