Riotous Mongu separatists arrested

Share

Police on Patrol in Mongu

Government has announced that Hundreds of people have been arrested and detained in Mongu in Western Province for threatening the country’s peace and security.

And Government has confirmed that two people died today in Mongu following violent activities.

Home Affairs Minister MKhondo Lungu also disclosed that five people have been arrested in Lusaka for inciting people in Mongu to engage in riotous behaviour.

On culprits arrested in Mongu, Mr. Lungu said they were arrested after they went on rampage destroying property and pelting stones at police officers, and attempting to set ablaze a filling station.

He said Government would not tolerate such behavior from a group of people agitating violence hence jeopardising the lives of other innocent citizens and the nation’s security.

The Minister told journalists at a press briefing in Lusaka today that Government would do everything possible in its powers to ensure that all those involved in the violence were brought to book.

He said it was the Government’s duty to ensure that the lives of Law abiding citizens and the country’s peace were protected.

[pullquote]“Zambia is one, and as Government we will not dialogue with anyone over the issue and we urge people to desist from engaging in violent activities or risk being arrested” Mr. Lungu said.[/pullquote]

And Mr. Lungu has stated that Government would not dialogue with anyone over the Barotse Session Agreement of 1964 as it had the potential to divide the nation.

He said no part of the country would be separated from the rest of the nation as a result of few selfish individual.

“Zambia is one, and as Government we will not dialogue with anyone over the issue and we urge people to desist from engaging in violent activities or risk being arrested” Mr. Lungu said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Lungu has confirmed that two people have died in Mongu following today’s violent activities.

He said among the dead was an innocent child who was killed by a stray stone from people who were pelting stones at police officers while the other person was shot at by police as he attempted to burn a filling station.

The Minister said police were left with no option but to shoot the person as the consequence would have been grave, if he was left unchecked.

‘’It’s not that the police take pride in killing people but it’s just that they were left with no option as setting a filling ablaze was going to result in serious consequences” The Minister said.

Mr. Lungu has since advised Mongu residents to remain calm as the situation was being adequately addressed by law enforcing wings.

And The Baroste Royal Establishment has been prodded to come out in the open and help address the issue surrounding Barotseland Agreement of 1964.

A senior citizen in Mongu Evans Musialela sounded the call following violent activities that ensued in the district Friday morning prompting business stoppages.

Mr. Musialela said the BRE was to blame for the current situation in the Province because it had not taken keen interest in issues surrounding the Barosteland agreement of 1964.

All Government and Private schools, and business houses in Mongu remained closed in fear of the impending fracas by youth groups advocating the restoration of the Barotseland Agreement of 1964, in both Limulunga royal village and Kapulanga compound,

Radio Liambai was equally closed down by police and its equipment confiscated but efforts to contact the Manager Mukeya Liwena over the matter revealed that he was out of Mongu.

A check by a ZANIS crew at most schools in the district found that all school going children did not report for classes on Friday.

Business was equally affected as shop owners did not open their shops forcing business activities to ground to a halt.

Meanwhile, police officers and other security wings were on the ground to quell riotous youths who attempted to go ahead with the meeting which was scheduled to take place in Limulunga royal village.

Some youths in Kapulanga compound mobilised tyres and burnt them barricading Limulunga road to motorists.

  1. The loss of lives is deeply regretable but refusing to discuss the BA will not resolve this contentious and extremely discordant issue.

There will no peace in the country if govt keeps suppressing views.

It looks like govt has no idea how to handle this

  2. Shedding blood may jst make people more angry.Bwana minister, what we need is a long lasting solution nt these short term measures

  3. What a joke , its like watching a comedy.

I think I am better off here, as they say with here my life expactancy should rise around 80

Back home life expectancy is mid 20’s

Even a fool knows, I made the right decision to come to Scotland

I miss my friends though in zambia

    Thanks

  4. Bishop Duffy is awfully quiet. Not even a statement from someone who was “speaking on behalf” of Western Province.

  5. No 5 Capitalist

You talk sense , Its a shame you call yourself a rediculous pathetic name.

I think you have a dark side to you which is in my eyes very flawed, and you need help

Saying that your comments are the best I have seen here and knowledgeable. Congratulations

    Thanks

  6. Govt must refrain from using inflammatory terms such as separatists to describe people that want the BA implemented.

I dont want the my country plunged into turmoil because Rupiah is busy visiting here instead of running the country.
We gave MMD everything but it has failed the country in any way one would think of…..

  7. What every Zambian is hoping for now is peace in Western provice and not GUNS. Such a nice province and nice people. GRZ should stop threatening the good people of Western Province because they are not criminals but Zambians who just want their voices heard. This is what happens when you take people for granted. Zambian peoples are still suffering but yet the price of copper is at its highest. Some roads in Western province just like many other provinces are unaccessible. For example, the shortest route from Lukulu to Mongu through the plains is nothing to write about, Mongu – Kalabo, If you have been to all provinces and districts in Zambia like I have been, you will agree with me. As I have already mentioned, we need mediators in Western province and not Guns.

  8. there is no need of always threatening people. The fact is that the BRA64 is there and thus there is need to sit and find a lasting solution.

Only a person with a small brain would start blaming Duffy and the likes as if they are the GRZ to sort out the mess. The ball is in RB’s hand as at now. Let him show leadership please.

  9. It’s just pure government leadership failure to refuse to discuss the issue and instead just make threats like a bully in a schoolyard. What is the country coming to now? Next will be state of emergency – no elections – no opposition parties allowed – another 26 years of UNIP under KK Version 2.0? This is very suspicious, I wonder who these “separatists” really are

  10. What Zambia needs is responsible politicians and Newspaper. One does not need the Barotse Agreement to gain mileage . The people that will suffer the most are innocent once that have nothing to do with the agreement but merely excited. People ought to be aware of consequences of agitating violence in Western Province. Peace loving zambians must be protected at any cost.

    VIVA ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION

  11. ‘Zambia – from Riches to Rugs’
Zambia has moved from being a major copper producer and potentially one of the continent’s richest countries at independence in 1964 to one of the world’s poorest. BBC

    // news.bbc.co.uk / 1 / hi / world / africa / country_profiles /

  12. This is the most useless and political paper i have ever seen..What LT for God§s sake report what what exactlz happened in western province???? thats the problem with armchair reporting..plse LT spare ne your propaganda bcoz i had my ears on the gorund on this one…

  13. #3 Mushota i think you are one useless person who is a sell out, one who has no brains, every time you comment about things home you always talk about how its better that you are in scotland, well as the saying goes Kwanu ni Kwanu, no matter how you look down on mother Zambia it will always be your home, whetehr you get married to a muzungu for papers you will still miss home unless if you were really in poverty home maybe you will choose to forget it which will be out of pretense. It remains to yourself how you got there and how you have decided to live there…. Most of the people on this blog are outside Zambia and it is for this reason that we check the news and voice out our opinion on what is happening home, But you sill self always talks negative about home in a stupid manner

  14. and this ZANIS report I am going to take a screengrab – you have reported that these hundreds of people who have been arrested are “separatists” – meanwhile that’s libel unless you can prove that they are indeed separatists

  15. If things are going this far i suggest all the 9 provinces of zambia become independent countries. If not then whip away all those involved in this madness.

My questions are, who is behind all this rubbish? where are leaders of the Barotse Land? and what are they saying about this? Maybe who knows they might be the ones inciting people. i personally believe in dealing with the problem from the roots. the sooner we sit down and ask ourselves the cause of this problem the better.
let the leaders sit down and solve this. but if the police have no more live bullets they can import more and shot all those thugs.

    This is total bullshiiit!

  16. should be “suspected” or “alleged” separatists – anyway one for the lawyers to make money from haha

  17. Sadly lives have been lost, if the police allowed a peaceful gathering, no loss of lives would have been lost. in modern democracies, people should express themselves freely, and use of force will ignite the nation into un belivable, RB should count western out of his votes, you allow police to kill people for advancing a genuine view, why did we have a barotse agreement in place if it was there, face facts allow people to claim what belongs to them. no more guns in western province, Mukondo Lungu, advise police and IG not to use force on innocent citzens. 2011 is groomy for Zambia

  18. All loss of life in any form or shape is deeply regretted and really shouldn’t be happening in Zambia where the channel of communications are always open. And thanks to the police for the action taken in preventing the gas station being set alight as explosion could have even caused a very much higher number of lives lost today.

Just want to commend the police for swift action in arresting the people behind all this and let them face the full force of the law. If you think you can incite the youths in Mongu from your laptop in Lusaka or Diaspora and get away with it, you are mistaken. Boma ni Boma. We are coming after you wherever you are and we shall smoke you out. You can run, but you can’t hide. The State wheels are in motion. And you will pay for lives lost today.

  19. Its purely lack of smart and quality leadership. Shooting people will just make the situation worse. How come these are happening under Rupiah Banda. These youths in Western province are simply frustrated with their pov erty levels and lack of hope for their future.

  20. #17 Kawaile good question and good advice – people should talk. Meanwhile government is saying they refuse to talk any time, any how. What kind of leadership is that? BS indeed…

  21. #20 Boot Vomiter perhaps you would like to name those who “are behind it”? Or are you perhaps as ignorant of that information as your tourist president seems to be?

  22. DONT SHOOT ONE PERSON IF THE POLICE ARE SHOOTING THESE MONGU FAKAS THEN SHOOT THEM ALL AND SHUT THEM UP BA FI KALA BALALENGA ABANA BALEFWA SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT THEM ALL

  23. Sometimes I even agree with Mushota when I hear this rubbish about “whose fault it is” and bringing some random people like Duffy or which you don’t even have the cojones to name
    Thanks

  24. #17 the BA is beyond the provincial leadership in western province.. this is a national issue that requires resolve & pragmatism to put this issue to rest once & for all through peacefull means and not intimidation

  25. ok cool, snce u wnt br64 and u luv mngu so much! All u loz nigas book ot of lsk, ndla, ktwe, chpta, solwzi, kasama and go west

  26. If these guys did not threaten to kill non lozis i suppose they could have been given permission to demonstrate peacefully. Govt decision to deny them permission should be applauded , otherwise, they could have killed alot more people than the police have. i wonder if Duffy himself would have been safe.

  27. Are Westerners criminals?Lungu and Siliya are Easterners, they think they are saints. My question is if this was happening in eastern province under this regime were they going to kill people the same way?No condolence to the dead rather more threats. This is serious lack of leadership, lets pray that God intervenes it seems these guys do not mean well, they mean to kill.

  28. #25, you may have an issue with phones, that sounds Zambian. This conflict obviously is about the BA64, it can not be blamed directly on Duffy, Sata or RB. But someone must have triggred it, because most of the rioters will be too young to have been there in 1964

  29. Most our beloved people in Zambia want peace only few selfish people want to bring unrest to our beloved national it matters less where we live Zambia will remain a best place. I am sure many peace loving Zambian would love to plead with those you are not happy that Zambia is one and that will never be changed. The other point is that both Government and opposition need to understand that Zambian needs peace and nothing else. So my appeal is that let us continue to pray for the Mother Land Zambia happy Sabbath friends

  30. Good evening

#7 what else can you call people who are calling for the division of our country and inciting others to engage in riots? IMO the term “seperatists” is even carefully selected.

I personally see them as a group of mortals waving a sword at a tidal wave. The unity of our country is too important for us to allow a few individuals to divide us. But if RB does not stop these perpetrators, they could manage to plunge our country into a long period of precarious political instability and arrested development.

At no period have I witnessed the possibility of a civil unrest in Zambia being so real. The Barotse Agreement is like a time bomb that has been been dormant for decades and now the clock starts ticking again. The counter must be stopped NOW before it’s too late!

  31. Deport that thug Duffy he’s behind all this nonsense ,remember he promises regime change those peasants are just been used by Katolikas like Duffy.Let pack up and go to his fellow mafias now.

  32. Also, in justifiable situations, no one should make a mistake why Tax Payers buy ammunition. It is to defend the peace and unity of the nation.

Democracy calls for peaceful dialogue. If the proponents of the BA are humane in the way they are looking at the matter at hand, they can appeal to an international court for arbitration, rather than incriminating themselves as they are now doing.

In fact, they can expect a lot of people who have been urging Government to dialogue with them to now withdraw their support.

  33. #29 Big Mama it’s from the Glorious Band song you know, about Easterners adopting cellphone manufacturer’s names. Seriosuly though, I don’t see anything obvious but that’s because I’m far from Mongu right now. I would really like to know who is behind it but people who are just yapping Sata, Duffy, foreigners etc. I don’t want to go back to that Zambia where it was treason to have more than 2 sacks of unga in your house

  34. As we go to bed to night let us remember those who have lost their loved ones in today’s disturbances in Mongu. It is beyond me why in a Christian nation others would not want to co – exist with their fellow humans in the name of some words written in a language that was not their own, on a paper that was not their own, with a seal that was not their own, in a country that is thousands of miles away from their birth place, 46 years ago. Baffling. Precious lives have been lost today, able bodies maimed for ever, property destroyed, young ones thrown into jails and a future changed for the worse, forever. For what and for whose benefit? What will it profit the Lozis if they owned Barotseland and still lost their souls? Why do we hate, fight and kill for land?

  35. It is sad lives were lost. But I agree with the government on this issue and they should be firm with those that seem to be fade up with the peace Zambia has been enjoying. The gov is not intimdating anyone, it’s these so called Black Bulls and their masters that are trying to intimidate the whole Zambia. Please deal with them firmly. Shut down any radio station that wants to encourage this foolishness. Why should anyone sit and discuss this matter? Discuss what? How much land will be given to the lozi people? What will the next meeting be if other tribes see the gov did that for them? What will be left of Zambia and how many laws will created to make everyone happy?
It is sad a child had to die but as for that one shot, well one less ***** on the planet.

  36. #30, ‘these guys’ was in reference to the BLACK BULLS. Are you not easterner yourself then? How come you have innovative names like those? they say easterners can innovate a name at anytime depending on circumstances while their cousins are limited to a list of only about 20 names to choose from, resulting in names being unisex and loosing the concept of surname/first name. Banda, sakala etc can only be surnames and nothing else…how about that?

  37. these fools from western province are always being used by the opposition….you will see just after the elections they will keep quite till 2016 when they will start making noise again……most of these fools dont even know what they are fighting for….how old were they in 1964???? bloody *****s

  38. These FOOLS were warned by GRZ. KK and Skota Wina have already been appointed to resolve situation. RB has made so clear. Fyashala is that its true, you can’t argue with a fool. Even the Bible say it in proverbs. In fact, my fellow Zambians, I urge you to read proverbs. Its an eye opener!

  39. Those with muscles to flex please find your way to somali or parts of DRC where your efforts will be appricated, not in Zambia. I am so annoyed about this foolishness in my country, yet more africans proving to the world what africans are best known for. Some of us have plans that will make us grow more success not going backwards.

I wonder how many of those arrested can even read to know what they are rioting about. Find the master and make a very public example of him/her.

  40. If Duffy was indeed a man of God as he claims why has been so silent on this matter?Which side is he on ?Thank God there is only water in Western province. The British government is also to blame what map did use with the Litunga when signing that agreement? How educated was the Litunga at that time to know the extent of his kingdom?Wherevere these colonialist have been they left trouble ,same as in Zimbabwe,South Africa etc there concept of divide and rule has a lot ramifications up to day like we are seeing now in Zambia. That copper was not and has never been is Western province but in the Lamba and Kaonde land and the people there have never benefited from the bribes the masters were giving the Litunga in terms scholarships and all.ZP please thumbs up.

  41. @Mushota…its bout time I gave u beadle smt 2 think bout. Zambia is a beautiful nation & u r Zedian wherever u r. Personally I hv traveled & lived abroad…I knw how lonely & pathetic it can be to be a guest in foreign nation. Home is home…I treasure Zed & its in my heart. wherever I am…am still Zambian & thank God…so why do u always hv to be arrogant tht u hv a perfect life wherever u r?…do u knw how am pretty sure u r lonely, suicidal & seriously retarded…yo comments r always on evry piece of article herein…even when u r shiting u r commenting…evidence of no job, social life or a simple goal in life. If yo life is tht perfect wherever u r…hw do u even find time to be glued to the internet 24/7?

  42. What a shameless government we have! According to Reuters, Britain’s GP Petroleum and Petrodel Resources, Glint Energy of the United States and Exile Resources (ERI.V: Quote) of Canada were chosen along with Zambian firms Majetu, Barotse Petroleum Company and Chat Milling Ltd to explore for oil and gas today. To say the least, their timing is pathetic! I’m beginning to believe the people agitating for change there have a point. Even though there are local companies involved, I can bet you my meagre gratuity that either the local companies are simply shells or 90% of projected profits are for external companies. 5 decades after independence, why do we still have leaders that do not care about the welfare of its locals. Vote wisely this year

  43. this minister is mad, was the person armed so that the police shot him dead? Even if the filling station is ablazed, it can be restored but the live is gone forever. If the government is not able to diologue on BA, how will peace come by?

  44. Why don’t we ask ourselves why now? After almost half a century of independence and the drafting of the said document, why have things reached this stage? Almost all the people involved and protesting were not even there when it all begun, why now? What is missing in their lives for them to react to something they even have no knowledge about? What are the prevailing circumstances in the nation for one part to thing of breaking away? How about the development in that area? How is it? How about the leadership in office, have they paid attention to the nation to reduce such from happening? What is their focus in relation with the people? Could it be that people are tired of the sitting government failing to attend their problems? Where is the leadership? Are threats the answer?

  45. There should be someone influential behind all this. And this is the person(s) that the police should be looking for. These young riotous youths have no idea about the BA. so please if among the arrested one can confess whoever sent them to do this perhaps we can get the chain to the person(s) behind this.

My advice to my fellow youths, please do not act by influence or acting according to other person’s opinion. We should develop the art of critically examining things that we do. Let us not be cheated by these big people who when we are in trouble them they will still be enjoying.

please to my beloved fellow Westerner youths let us learn to listen to the voice of our conscience that always calls us to do good and avoid evil. even if things are 100% bad i dont think violence is the…

  46. I just say what i feel in my heart

    I know the truth hates

I am happy, I am doing things that people home can only dream of. Why should i not rejoice.Grow up and accept me as i am

    Thanks

  47. #54 Mushota ubupuba uleke. you are the one that needs to grow up and fit into society and not society to fit into your pathetic self

  48. #21 MMD Chief Bootlicker. Man naiwe, as old as you are just busy making comments that are@ , Go there and help people you are the one causing this and running away ” muleitunga ukuba intungulushi”..

  49. … Big Pungu

They don’t get married to a muzungus but nigerians nd some change their names to Olu (nigerian names for papers). its even had 2 transport their bodies back 2 Zambia when thy die here in th UK coz of names.

  50. I think its about time the government showed some muscle here. Charge the violence inciters with treason and hang them publicly! That way the rest of them will be afraid, after all Zambians are cowards! This is ridiculous why cant we be one country and forget about this rubbish. why is one tribe bringing so much grief on the rest of us. And i dont even blame lozi’s as such i blame a few who think they are more special than the rest. Lozi’s in general and mostly from our generation are nice people only those few individuals who think their tribe is more special than the rest do i despise.

  51. Look bane, this is just a sign that people are fade up! We are all seein what is going on with this government. When thé government or rahter leaders give no hope to the citizens even a loss in a football match can ignite serious riots. This is just a sign of what is yet to come on a bigger stage. Wait! Isn´t this year an election year? If people will feel cheated by the result of this year´s elections. Forget about the so called peace and christian nation these criminals hide behind. It will be Panji´s prophecy fulfilled. RB our dear president I know this is difficult but please heed to the advice of the people and not only Chiluba´s. Knee before God and ask for direction of your sheep as you are a sherpherd and he will surely show you the way. He is the only way in these trying moments!

  52. Operation owl # 62, this has a lot to do with the BA64 than what you you are trying to associate it with. If you read what the Black Bulls said you would have known they never mentioned election 2011.
If thats what you wish after the elections thats a different case.

  53. I am a Sata supporter, I can do anything for Ba Sata. But I will be the first to admitt this Barotse issue, Ba Sata is on the wrong side. All this could be avoided if only Ba Sata did not support this nonsense, ba Lozi have gone too far!!!

  54. I have followed this story nand I know what is making the black bulls behave the way the are. I dont wish anything bad to my beloved country. Thats why me mention good to help us in these trying momnets. But its scarely.

  55. Mushota u ar a cant. Stop wasting time on this blog. This is meant for people with progressive ideas. You ar an idi.ot and du.ll foo.l who can tell when issues ar serious need progressive ideas. U must be one of those who has been out of Zed for a long time and still living in ur poor shadows of a poverty sticken id.iot while in Zed. Zed has changed and i can assure u the next time you will visit zed u will be shocked to learn how some of your friends u left have progressed Id.iot. Stop posting your ru.bbish if u have nothing positive to contribute. maza fu.cker.

  56. Let my people go.Our rights to self determination, our right to secede as agreed on in BA and our land is nothing that can be taken from us.Why do we need to be part of a failed banana republic? No retreat,no surrender-aluta continua.

  57. Iwe #46 stop hating the Bishop of Mongu for no reason. Your government has failed to solve this issue we started a long time telling u that this is a time bomb and u never listened. Duffy has worked in Western Province for more than 20yrs never has he preached violence. He has worked with very poor pipo in this area ask ur MMD guyz in Mongu they know. And when he speaks he talks on behalf of the vioceless. You and ur government dont listen am not in favour of any political party at the moment in Zambia because all of u are self-centered all u want is Money Money and more Money. U lie to us with our eyes open. You have killed a person and u trying to justify that?? I pray that one day u burn in hell for ur sins. All what every normal Zambian asked was for u guys to listen and listen!!

  58. I agree with the Minister, to avoid more bloodshed there must be no dialogue on the Barotse agreement of 1964. There is nothing to talke about as far as this agreement is concerned. In the meantime bring sanity to the province arrest the ring leaders and trace the source of their finances.

  59. Iwe Ka Mushota, if your family is poor in Zambia don’t think we are poor, we are happy in Zambia. If you live in Scotland, it is not a guarantee that you will die at 80, even 1 year olds die there and there people who are 100 years in Zambia. Stupi.d kid

  60. #70, Barotseman:

STOP LYING! Where in the BA does it say the Litunga or Barotseland has the right to secede if you are not happy with the marriage you willingly entered into in 1964? This is the problem we have, people exaggerating issues or documents they barely understand. Everything in the BA64 is about the Litunga and his inner circle (relatives/indunas). Land, Water, Forrest, wild animals, even the SAND you people are so proud of, etc, is all to be enjoyed by the people of the so called Barotseland at the discretion of the Litunga. Nothing in the BA encourages any motivated ordinary Lozis/citizens not connected to the “Royals” to independently succeed WITHOUT KISSING THE LITUNGA’S @SS!!

AND THIS IS THE KIND OF DOCUMENT PEOPLE ARE LOOSING THEIR LIVES FOR—what a pity!!

  61. People don’t be misled..nobody ever wanted to set the filling on fire and nobody ever threatened other tribes in mongu..your info even bundas were inlvolved in this riot..don’t follow blindly beyond government propaganda..the facts on the ground are that 6 people have been killed and some police men are being held captive..hope peace returns to my beloved country and all this mess end here

  62. I think the police did right to shoot that terrorist, it is there duty to protect the citizens, the country and property. Lozis are proving to be very useless people, and i hope the government shoots more of them

  63. #49 This man wanted to set the filling station ablaze and more peaple were going loose lives hence the shooting. Now i want you to answer this questions: What has that filling station got to do with the BA? What are content of the BA? KK, Chiluba and Levy all did not implement the BA, why do you want RB to implement it? is it because it is election year? I will ask you more questions when you answer these questions.

  64. #21.
    Your comedy is so funny.
IF your lovable rogues MMD were to try and find anybody in diaspora to charge them with a crime committed in Zambia then why would they not start with Lloyd of ZWD.

  65. Ba LT please delete # 64. It is not me who wrote that. In all fairness, the writer must be informed that you do not allow such kind of behavior. Thanking you in advance for your action.

  66. #54 Mushota you went to Scotland coz you were a failure here in Zambia and dont think all are poor here. You are happy there in a foreign land working very to develop another country forgetting your country were all your relatives are, shame on you. Those people worked very hard to make Scotland what it is and a useless person like you went there to work and start boasting when you failed to do any thing back home.

  67. Like almost all other state’s, Zambia is a signatory to the United Nations Charter 1945, which recognises the right to self-determination, and further Zambia is a signatory to the UN 1970 Declaration of Principles of Friendly Relations Among States, which reaffirms seven of the most significant principles of the United Nations Charter. In this context, Zambia is bound to its international law obligations. The Barostse Agreement is binding and international law and the Zambian government will have to implement its obligation towards the Barotse Agreeements. The One Zambian One Nation was a ploy used by President Kaunda whom arguably relied on this slogan to unite Zambia in order to gain independence from the colonialists, but its literal meaning has failed lamentably! Watch this space!!

  68. Ka mushota i thought you had a real job in Scotland, kanshi you work in the old people’s home cleaning matuvi and changing napkins….abase.

  69. Ka mushota i thought you had a real job in Scotland, kanshi you work in the old people’s home cleaning matuvi and changing napkins….atase.

  70. SHARP 40 & 44

That is not your picture. Sorry…..

Just in case you want to fool people that you are beautifull. This picutre is not yours. You copied it from an Online Magazine

  71. #86, Mwala wa Mbeti:

Why then don’t you take your case to COURT than the STREETS?! Isn’t the courts the best place to tease out issues of LAW? Anything you engage in outside of these laid down protocols should, and rightfully so, considered unlawful agitation. This is exactly why the Zambian govt is unwilling to talk to these fringe groups out of WP calling themselves all sorts of names. The Litunga is the right person to talk to about this, isn’t he? And the govt is doing just that. Anything/anybody outside of that loop should be considered illegal.

And where in the history of the UN is Barotseland recognized as an independent state, or once being such?! If not, how then do you invoke the charters you are alluding to?! Damn, the COLONIALS really had you people BRAINWASHED!!

  72. In all fairness this nonsence must not be toraleted by the Government. Those who are being used to course this rubbish must be punished severelly like Eddie has said beat the up using the red barret commandos.

  73. Zambians do we understand democracy Zed Police will actually fuel the situation the Govt.address this issue at a round table period. No amount of treats will change the situation. We dont need commandos that is past

  74. Presdo is custodian of ALL land in Zed on bhalf of Zedians.Sort out thoz villagers who r being used as pawns to destroy property.sort out vuvuzelas taking advantage of the illiterate villagers.Litunga shud disciplin his villagers. If they want 2 separate let them pack & go back to sesutho, what ever they call it.
can we plz hav early warning info gathering systems in place.in this era allowing such nonsense hapening is sad.security wings pull up socks.from 2day BA64 is EXPIRED.

  75. Govt has ALL the right & responsibility 2 shút down vuvuzelas like membe who hide in name of ‘media freedom, freedom of speech’.can membe tel us his position on what has happened in mongu.vuvuzelas dont realise that in this world there r rights & RESPONSIBILITIES.
GoRoundZed need 2 put foot down 4 sake of Zed.

  76. Ba Mushota, why is it that you always want attention, please start behaving like a civilised person and appreciate where u come from.As the saying goes humble yoself and u share be exalted. Stop acting like a lunatic coz I know u can do better, hope you’re not selling yo body to make quick money because sometimes u sound quite suspicious.

  77. Where there’s oil in Africa, there’s pain and death! there is more to this issue than just a bunch of individuals making noises. We should be wary of scottish sounding names loitering around and inciting violence. Oil companies are experienced in exploring oil and gas in countries ravaged by war so we should be mindful of this.

  78. Mushota–please save your constant “i live a perfect life in scotland” nonsense for ppl who care. we see it it for what it is. overcompensation..i’m sure you are a pathetic little nobody with no friends. the most embarassing thing a foreigner like you can do is talk sh!+ about their country.. ps. learn to spell. its supposed to be “truth hurts” not “truth hates” mwati ndiwe opunzila iwe?

  79. QUOTE Chris Tucker from the movie Rush hour two: Follow the rich white man, in this case the white man period is responsible for this mess. England has has a hand in every debacle in modern history; back to the middle ages. Even Jesus’s home land was conquered by them in the name of crusades. Innocent Africans and their cousins the Hebrews were massacred amass. Enough talk seek God and curtail these terrorist insurgents in western province.

  80. #90 They have no case that is why they cannot take legal action. How can they invoke the UN charter then at the same time try to deny others the same rights within Western Province? Isn’t that practicing double standards?
The BA64 is a non starter. If Mongu was an island like Chilubi, full of the Litunga’s relatives and his subjects may be, just maybe, the government would have honoured some aspects of the agreement, but when the issue concerns other native tribes like the Nkoya and others, the government cannot do anything because it will just cause more problems than solutions.
If they want a solution to this issue, Lozis must support the Kafue Province proposal as put forward by the Nkoya and a revised Western Province, then the government might consider been flexible on the…

  81. lam shocked with what is happening now in Zed. Is it that becoz we left Zed? Wait for us when we get our PHD’s we are coming to change things, you need more educated people to solve your problems.

  82. RB AND HIS GOVERNMENT ARE TO BLAME RB TOLD THE COUNTRY THERE IS NO TENSION IN WP, MARK MY WORDS IT WILL BE DIFFICULT FOR MMD AND AND PF TO CAMPAIGN IN 2011 IN WP. AS RB AND SATA WILL BE HEARTED TO THE GRAVE DUE TO THE INJUSTICE THEY CAUSED ON THE LOZIS, I THINK SO FAR THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN FREE STEP A FOOT IN WESTERN PROVINCE IS HH AND MILUPI, I IMPLORE GRZ TO ENGAGE A MEDIATOR TO RESOLVE THIS CRISIS

  83. A guy walks into a bar and orders a drink. After a few more he needs to go to the toilet. He doesn’t want anyone to steal his drink so he puts a sign on it saying, “I spat in this beer, do not drink!”. After a few minutes he returns and there is another sign next to his beer saying, “So did I!”
what goes inside hard and dry but comes out soft and wet?……………………….. EVIL minded chap its not waht you are thinking the answer is a BUBLE GUM.

  84. KA MUSHOTA, KWENA OF ALL ISSUES YOU WANT TON TALK ABOUT BLOODY SCOTLAND, KWENA YOU ARE AN ATTENTION SEEKER. STOP MESSING ON IMPORTANT ISSUES NIWE KAMUTOBA MBALE KU SCOTLAND AND YOU WANT TO SHOW US YOU ARE SOMEBODY, SEE PEOPLE WHO HAVE MADE IT IN DIASPORA LIKE DABISA MOYO ARE BUSY PRAISING AND PROMOTING THEIR COUNTRY. I BET POVERTY IN ZED INAKUCHITA BIG TIME. HAVE SOME MANNERS IF ANYTHING SOME MORALS

  85. Our Phd students have researched and they have revealed people’s feelings that Sata and its vuvuzela the Post and Duffy etc are to blame for encouraging this riotous behaviour in WP. The masses are happy with the Police’s action on the rioters and Radio Lyambai. They recommend the rioters to be charged and locked up for more than 20 years. Our research students had earlier revealed that people want a federal state kind of system in Zambia but that should not come through violence. No one tribe should threaten the lives of other tribes in modern day Zambia. One Zambia One nation and sad that an innocent baby has been lost.

  86. Looks like we now have one zambia two nations-one is peaceful the other for mayhem, one for unity while the other for division, one built on tribal bonds the other built on national bonds, one puts a price on nationhood while the other puts a premium on its principles.

  87. Uwasambilila. We are in China and just from your language i can know who you are.You cannot insult all the Lozis just from what other Lozi’s did.Think like a person who is matured enough to handle Public Relations , a person who came abroad not only to get onto the plane but also fix his own brain washed mentality. If you were not a coward ,you would have shown your real name just like i have done. Do not be such evil minded.Lozi ,Tonga,Tumbuka,Kaluchazi,Toka-ila ,Ngoni ,Lenje ,Lamba etc all are Zambians and no one deserves dying like a dog ,and no one need to harm another human being.Mind you people need to sit-down to resolve issues.Intimidation will always bring about chaos . People like me fear neither burning tire nor nuclear power .Not even a loud voice. I fear and respect Wisdom .

  88. 89 GG
so what is your point? Is it written anywhere or do I imply in any way that is me? A lot of comments are made with various pictures, should we also assume that people on here are trying to say they are coins, drums and flags? That is not me, but I am beautiful and if I wanted to plaster my pictures online I would have done so with my real name so you don’t mistake me when you see me.
You sound petty like one of those girls who feel themselves too much untill the meet someone so much better.Write about the issue posted not my avatar.

  89. Am sure the srcibes at the Vuvuzela shinda pepa are the happiest people at least one of there of there main objectives is been met….but just wait for your time you will sink like the shinda pepa in the drain sooner than later. You wankers.

  90. LIFE IS LIFE, WE HAVE SAID NO TO DEATH PENALTY, WHY SHUD WE SAY YES TO INSTANT KILLING BY THE POLICE. YOU MEAN MR. MINISTER YOUR MEN ARE NOT TRAINED TO PARALYZE AN INDIVIDUAL NOT TO GO AHEAD WITH THE EVIL INTENTIONS.

I THINK SHOOTING AND KILLING IN THE GIVEN CIRCUMSTANCES WAS IRRESPONSIBLE.
HOW DID THE POLICE KNOW THAT THE MAN SHOT WANTED TO GUT THE FILLING STATION? HOW DID THEY READ THE INTENT AND HOW FAR WHERE THEY?

I URGE THE MINISTER TO RETRACT HIS STATEMENTS AND GET HIS FACTS RIGHT INSTEAD OF BLINDING US.

VIOLENCE SHUD NOT BE TOLERATED, MAY THE POLITICIANS AND POLICE WORK PROFESSIONALLY TO END THIS UNCALLED FOR VIOLENCE IN WESTERN PROVINCE:”>

  92. Wow!after reading all the posts from intellectuals most of them in diaspora and those back home Mother Zambia, its shows to me that as a country we have managed to educate and produce big brains but on some of them,it is a serious matter of concern eg boasting for staying outside the country,it sounds a bit acient.by the way 90%of pipo on this blog are outside Zambia. We can do well to be patriotic but some of them is childish and lack of parental guidance. However, from all the brogs i think the results are that all zambians need unity and they treasures it the most especially progressive LOZIS.So generalising lozis will be a bit unfair and to much for good and friendly lozis who ve done so much 4 the country.Culprits deal with them, kill them 4 the sake of piece.where iam such pipo ar kiled.

  93. Don’t be shocked when the people behind this are revealed, they think that they can hide their identity. You can’t hide from the boma, and don’t misinterpret the freedom and democracy allowed by boma. It is working full time all the time, aina kulobala bo ndate.

  94. The Govt trivialized the whole matter, RB instead of serious dialogue, engaged the agrievd parties thru’ his usual nonsensical airport press statements. Leaving the lumpens at Bwinjifumu road ( POST) to relish the moment and jump in pretending they really care for the pipo of Barotse. Using there usual screensaver marketing tool and “rehabilitated criminal statesman” (Sata) to quickly change his 1992 stance on the BLA 1964. Sadly even the Litunga failed his pipo, but typical of him, he betrayed his pipo after receiving brown envelopes from Kunda. Shame!! My thoughts are with the suffering pipo of Barotse

  95. Congrats Mushota. you’ve actually managed to piss off several pipo and get the reaction you seek. It’s also a hobby of mine to do the same. To those of you who mushota pisses off, a word of advice. If you ignore her/him completely and never comment on what she/he writes, she/he will eventually stop writting. What she/he is seeking is exactly what you are giving her/him. It’s the oldest trick in the book for attention seekers and jokers.

  96. Duffy is first Irish, second Catholic, a christian? He would rather molotov you to hell to promote a sein fein culture. Ask the brits on what the catholic sein fein’s Irish Republican Army did to them in Northern Ire Land.

  97. I agree with Yambayamba. After going thru the BA64 on Watchdog,Iam now fully informed that only the Litunga and his council can talk to Lusaka(Govt) about the agreement. The rest of us(though Iam not Lozi but have cousins) will be considered terrorists or a threat to national security if we meddle into this agreement.

Where is Nkoya Pride? I enjoy his indepth analysis of the BA64.

  98. Who would have thought anyone would even for once agree with anything from MMD Chief Bootlicker @ 21? This shows that behind our hallucinations of political correctness we do agree on the sanctity of the entire motherland (or what’s left of it, thank you MMD).

Sad that lives are lost but why send cops for these chaps? Send commandos from Ndola and beat the wayward belief out of them!

  99. The Govt’s stance not to talk is outright wrong! People are angry and things will not be the same in western province since yesterday. I encourage dialogue, its the only way out.

  100. #9 N 10 UR BOTH RITE,Mushota dnt 4get ur a foreigner their n the day those guys will turn a bak on u is the day u will walk 4rm Scotland to Zed.Violence hasnt worked out cos Bwezani is not even consernd bt visitin other nations

  101. I’m Lozi myself. A very sad Lozi today that we see these things happening in Zambia. I was born after independence and so I’m one of those children who was brought up being told you are Zambian. We even had neighours from other provinces but to be honest I didn’t even know that they were of a different tribe until I reflected on the truth when I was an adult. My parents never bothered to tell me who our neighbours were because they never thought it was important. Infact I grew up thinking that Mumbi was a Lozi name, or that Mulenga and Jelita were Lozi names. THere was absolutely no tribal talk I came across. It is wrong the way the govt is handling things. They need to talk to these young people and find out what the problem is. Us Lozis are also human beings with feelings.

  102. Am sorry but the sooner they separate themselves the better, infact i wish it could be done before elections so that we sort out RB properly.

  103. SOMETIMES I RELY WONDER WHO LITUNGA STANDS FOR, WHETHER IT’S FOR HIS PERSONAL INTEREST OR FOR THE PEOPLE THAT HE IS SAID TO LEAD. IS HE HAPPY THAT A SUBJECT OF MUPEZEN IN THE NAME ON SPEAR LUNGO COULD SCARE HIS TO DEATH THAT HE CAN NOT SAY ANYTHING GOOD OR BAD. OH MY GOD WHAT A LEADER!!!!

  104. This is the problem when things are done without democracy. If, as people are saying, that the Agreement was abrogated long time ago, why were the people of western province never told??? It is not right. Because no leader wants to actually tell the nation what the real problem, this will erupt again. Those Lozis now have tested blood, they have seen a brother being killed. This has never happened in the history of Zambia, and it makes me very very very sad as a Lozi. The government must swallow its pride and talk openly about the issue. If they continue being hot-headed, next time there will be more fire and this time it could mean an all out war. It is not nice the way Lozis are being villified at the moment by other tribes. There is total insensitiveness. That is how civil wars start.

  105. Stop condeming Bishop Duffy. He gave a warning and the powers be thought he was a joker.THe hardline statement from one Hon. Lungu will not help matters. Had the police allowed the gathering to take place lives and property would not have been lost. Remember when you push pipo against the wall they will react by kicking hard in order to free themselves. Deploying the paras under the command od Dr. Solomon Jere was not the right thing. The guys would have done much better in containing the situation. Its a question of being trigger happy. Violence breeds violence. The BRE is zee coz they have always received favours in many forms from govt since 1964 even under the British. There is need to discuss this whole issue peacefully not threatening stakeholders with treason. Pipo die for cause

  106. the president is right in not solving this problem in the press especially now in an election year. I would be disappointed by RB if he went yaping in the media. a national debate would be good but before this let us know the true contents of BA64 and lets have clear guidelines on what we are debating. ideally not in an election year.

  107. The British intended to to use the BA to make all the provinces of Zambia to be under Native Authority (NA) , hence “Protectorate Satus”. Barotseland was the first to have its own NA but the white settlers refused to be ruled by blacks so the program was stopped. For Zambia to get independence Bitish law recognises chiefs as sovereign powers, hence it is their power that defines the State of Zambia. That is why every Zambian on their National Registration Card (NRC) are classified by their “chief” and “village”. Hence the House of Chiefs represents the soveregn power from which the state derives its authority. Therefore the BA defines the powers of all chiefs in Zambia who thus have total control over their natural resources.

  108. With this scenario, the government may end up imposing a state of emergency and probably delay the holding of the much anticipated 2011 Elections.

  109. By the way, did you know that on the eve of independence 1964 Zambia bought the mineral rights from BSAC. But before the transfer BSAC removed the rights of prime areas and put them in other firms. When Zambia got the mineral rights from BSAC it got the worst areas and the committment to pay the Litunga which the BSAC promised him. So dont confuse BA with the mineral rights issue and all the oil and diamonds in WP.

  110. #139 SUDDEN AT BAY: what is the point you are making? The oil and diamonds are not exploited yet. How do they become relevant to what happened 100 years ago??

  111. If anyone does not want to be part of Zambia, that person is free to move out, where to? is his/her problem. Western Province has been part of Zambia before and after independence and this will remain like that.

  112. To all the Lozis reading these comments, please ignore all the useless ones as it is not all Lozis who are for this negative approach to resolving the issue at hand. Some comments can be annoying but the whole country is with you and we are praying for you.

  113. #132 to be fair Lozi people do not like other Zambians. I do not know the reason but this is a fact as I am talking from experience, while other tribes can show some love, not the Lozi, I just wonder why they have not gone somewhere else. What do you Lozi people want? I mean what is in Western Province that you so want this Province to be seperated from the rest of Zambia? Nothing is there and I sure you will end up desitutes if this is done, and remember this will mean all Lozi people living in other parts of Zambia moving to Western Province, surrendering of your Passports and National registration cards as you have to make you own. A boarder post between Mongu and Lusaka as well as other places. Cutting off of electricity supply as your new govt/Kingdom have to find means. Crap

  114. #143 It is the Lozi people generally that do not want to be part of Zambia. Nobody is forcing them, so why pray for them when what they want is war.

  115. May the Almighty God console the hearts of the families to the departed. May he look at Barotseland with mercy again. He alone restore the peace and prosperity reserved for its pipo. The freedom to speak of a heritage without being victimized or stigmatized. God bless Zambia.

  116. Sharp, you are talking sense my dear and any one saying boo! is unwise. The issue at hand is the barotseland and not incriminating people , express your selves with intention to build and not destroy. At this time i encourage the commander in chief of the armed forces to be brave and courages in making sure that no more lives are lost. Send the boys there! now.

  117. Barotseland is not Western Province. The Land which is called Barotseland includes where to mine Copper. that is to say all western,Copper and North-Western Provinces. the question is are the Kaondes, the Lambas the Luvales, Mbundas and the Lundas going to allow the Litunga to rule them. Please research on Barotseland and see it is not Northwestern Province.

  118. #145 BWAIMA. The lady has a chest, very apetising!!! I think in all senses, BRE separetists, as they are called are wrong and it is just right for the govt to take them to task and let the biased law take its course. However, Sata was right to make a comment on this issue but brain drained cadres here wished he remained silent. See for yourself now that remaining silent to such issues just enures more havoc.Tommorow RB is going to MANSA and that shows how trivial this issue is in MMD’s agenda. Surely, mweba LOZI olo kushishita teti muvotele bashikulu ba Sata? You are black bulls really, in my opinion, meaning the best thing you know best is the bottom or underneath of a woman. Zambians musnt be divisive. No matter how bembas ve dribbled us, one day zambia will triumph from this tribal…

  119. why have the people who were involved maintained silence over the BRE matter?where is kaunda, chiluba and litunga?let them explain what transpired.

  120. #150 YOU ARE VERY STUPID. FOOL. BIG FOOL. I WISH THERE WAS A WAY OF KNOWING YOU, I WOULD HAVE SLAUGHTERED, YOU FOOL. IS THAT WHAT YOU WERE TAUGHT BY YOUR PARENTS? MAYBE YOU ARE A TREET KID WITH NO CULTURE. *****S LIKE YOU CAN CAUSE WAR. CAN’T YOU SEE THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE IN PAIN. I CAN BE LOZI BUT I HAVE “BROTHERS” WHO ARE BEMBAS. FOOLISH *****. ARE HAPPY THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE BEING KILLED? OF CAUSE EVERYONE SHOULD CONDEM VIOLANCE, BUT YOU SHOULD YOU SHOULD REGARD FOR OTHER TRIBLES. YOU ARE CAUSING HATRET YOU FOOL.

  121. On this one am fully supporting RB and the MMD for the action they took. We are not going to wait for misguided fellas to ruin our country. Those are thugs and as far as i am concerned they deserve all the necessary punishment available. If i was RB i could have done the same. We are not going to allow separatists to threaten innocent souls. These vandals even went to the extent of stoning innocent people and damaging property. This action is extremely backward. I believe there is a better solution to this issue than violence.

  122. #1 and 5 whats the conection with bishop Duffy and those violences?the church does not work like that my dear!! when are we going to be civilised sure? a peacefull nation again we start killing each other like our friends in RWANDA some time back!! NONONO ……lets come together and resolve this issue without guns plz.

  123. The deaths of people, especially innocent ones like children, is highly regrettable though I can’t say the same for the terrorist who tried to burn the filling station.
And I support wholeheartedly the statement by Mr. Lungu that Government would not dialogue with anyone over the Barotse Agreement of 1964 as it had the potential to divide the nation. This is the kind of firm hand required in dealing with seccesionists.
CHIMBA KOMA BANTU@149 – In case you’re new to LT, check out the story of 14/01/2010 on “Barotse meeting illegal” to see the true boundaries of Barotseland rather than ignorantly peddling lies.

  124. Mongu on fire is not just about BRE issue but MMD failed to develop the area. It is MMD’s fault who have failed to deliver even basic services in Western Province. Here is a picture: No road between Mongu and Kalabo, No ZNBC TV in Lukulu, No trade school in Mongu, highest unemplyment rate in the country, Come on people- those guys in Mongu was a better stake of Zambia: better road, clinics and better education facilities…MONGU ON FIRE IS DUE TO MMD FAILURE TO DELIVER SERVICES…NOW THE WANT ANOTHER FIVE YEARS!!

  125. Malumo says.

Lets not condemn the govt. for the stupid acts in Mongu. To hell with Barotse land agreemnt. Which nation in the world can allow such nonsense. Ba Sata you will find everything written on Barotseland when you come in the presidents office. It is written in black and white. No president will succumb to this rubbish thats why Kaunda is quite. He knows what was agreed after 1964 regarding that stupid agreement.

  126. I come from Western province myself. I do not support what my brothers and sisters are doing. The Barotseland agreemnet is dead and burried. No president will even give in to this agreement. Its like Obama before he became president he condemned war in Afganistan where America is sending troops. He becomes president he is also sending troops there also. Its the same with Barotse land agreement ba Sata wont do anything when he comes into that office. It was already put in Black and White that the Governement of the Republic of Zambia will not succumb to any pressure on the BLA. of 1964. Kaunda Knows, Chiluba Knows, Mwanawasa Knew about it and Rupiah Banda has also found it in that office. Ba Sata dont cheat the people of Mongu for a vote.

  127. Well done to the governement. Anyone bringing confusionin the country should dealt with. They should have killed 30 not two. We are enjoying peace in Zambia, why should afew stupi people start bringing confusion over something which they do not even understand properly. Police please use maximum force not minimum force. Teach them a lesson. Infact they are disobeying their paramonut chief. It is a very big embarrasment to the Litunga. He should also punish the pepetrators of these riotus behaviours. Barotseland Agreement, what for. Are you not enjoying this unitary state you fools?

  128. ba bupe you are very dull. If the governement is not delivering you dont riot you find a better way of resolving that problem. Infact the best is to vote them out not being riotus. Think Bupe dont be so shallow minded. Its not only in Mongu where there is no development. Why should they riot.

  129. How can the Minister shamelessly claim that shooting at the man wanting to set ablaze the filling station was the only alternative. He is not proffessional enough to issue such a statement and just shows calibre of ministers RB picks. The law enforcers are trained to capture such people and more over the man was not armed with a gun for you to justify the shooting. That is excessive force used because the livies of the officers were not threatened by that act. All they needed to do was to arrest the chap or disable hime below the knee to enable easy capture. Shame on you Mr Minister, shouldnt even call you minister after encouraging murder.

  130. The lozis have been exposed for their cowardly selfishness. Non of the so-called bulls have stood up to defend their actions. They behave like pupils who hail scorn and hide under their desks when the teacher turns to look. Cowards thats what they are and cant not have any consequence to the time boom you surmise. Posterity will vindicate their action. They have stood up for what they care, no matter how nonsensical, while we stand aside and look. Zambia is the big picture. We continue to fail to manage ourselves, given all the resources we are endowed with. Slowly it becomes clear that not only can we not take care of our resources, but we fail to take care for our affairs as well.We are the selfish cowards; allowing our children’s heritage to be stolen right under our feet.

  131. There is no crisis in W.P. what is there is selfishness exposed by people who dont even know the content of the BA. someone is mentioning the word dialogue for what?

  132. People, what we need is the British Govt, with the original agreement which i want to believe they have a copy, sit down with the interested parties i.e Zambian govt, the BRE or kingdom officials.Spell out the way forward.so confusing indeed- some folks are talking about money
(1)98million sterling pounds left for the BRE.(2)others are talking about the promises embeded in the agreement that have not been fulfilled, while (3)others are talking about separation from the mainland Zambia.Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata incited the good people of western Zambia mostly youths who obviously know very little about this and are as confused as i would just for his selfishness and cheap politicking.while the poor youths are fighting senseless battles on the streets the king cobra retreats into his comfort.

  133. Am not from western province but stifling discussion is not the answer.what the Govt should have done is allow the group hold the meeting under supervision of security agencies and perhaps we could have come to the bottom of the matter.(1)know the perpetrators(2)what they stand for, if indeed they have a legitimate claim.Even here in the USA the native Indians enjoy some kind of status in their country.completely ignoring them is very dangerous.Remember the Hutus and Tustis genocide started like this.the lozis might start feeling they have been treated unfairly. Please heed..please mwe bantu

  134. @153,MATEPETA.My bro! War is far from what my words depicts. The fact that other bloggers ve also hinted to the fact that you are cowards speaks volumes than your anger towards me. If Sata calls you 6coloko, you curse him? Am made speak in those terms because i dont see why you gi about trying to divide a peaceful zambia? In the first place, you are inviting and inciting mayhem. Zambia is made up of 9 provinces & you cannot say you are so special, why? what has your province contributed to zambia? Look at NWestern, minerals & jobs, CB,minerals & jobs,Eastern, agriculture & a RB, Southern, agriculture & tourism, Luapula, fish,Lusaka, the hub & beauty of zambia, Northern, a lot. In business your province is like an SBU that ant making profit but being sustained by other profitable units.

  135. Now, if you go on the streets & burn hard earned viechles by your fellow tribesmate, its very ironic for me and it beats my understanding of your culture. pardon me that word. Who is benefiting from the so called economic progression that every one seems to be singing about? None. Not a a single province except for Lusaka because of being the hub! You are wrong to cry a river by yourselves and not embrassing the togetherness that will perhaps bring change. They say united you stand and divided you fall. Iam half lozi and married to a half easterner and bemba. We are one, held together by our nationality. I dare you call me for a kill and will still stand by my words because, you ve called yourselves black bulls, and still intend to kill innocent tribes who are helping you build yo province

  136. “No government should engage in a situation like this in this manner. The complaint which people in Western Province are putting forward is because of poverty and neglect of the province. There are no factories, no jobs. When people leave schools, they have nothing to do. Mr. Rupiah Banda and his ministers that come from Western Province have blood on their hands and they have to do something to wash off this blood.”

Gen Masheke wondered how MMD Parliamentarians from the province would face the people whose children were being killed. He said it was not a question of cessation of Western Province, but people were expressing anger at the situation in the area.

“Barotseland Agreement does not talk of cessation. People in Western Province have been the most humble since independence…

  137. On Barotseland’s right to secede, the Litunga Ilute Yeta IV made the following assertion: –

“Secession is a matter of right and is inherent in the Barotseland Agreement of 1964 so that the parties to the said Agreement reserve the right to revert to their original status if the Agreement under which they intended to achieve unity can no longer work.” He added that Zambia has no moral right to hold the people of Barotseland in perpetual enslavement on account of an Agreement, which was entered into voluntarily, “we cannot be expected to adhere to the terms of the Agreement, which the other party to it does not recognise.”

November 1995 – Special Pizo held at Lealui from 3rd to 4th November 1995 resolves that:

    “(a) Barotseland Agreement 1964.

    (i)…

  138. November 1995 – Special Pizo held at Lealui from 3rd to 4th November 1995 resolves that:

    “(a) Barotseland Agreement 1964.

    (i) That the government must unequivocally recognize the Barotseland Agreement 1964 and accept that the rights and obligations therein are still binding upon the Government.

(ii) The recognition must be incorporated in the constitution of Zambia, as has been the case hitherto as with all other honorable agreements.

(iii) That if the Government continues to be obstinate the people of Barotseland shall have the right to self-determination by reverting to the original status before 1964.”
