Veep challenges Post newspaper

File:Vice president George Kunda and his wife Irene

VICE-PRESIDENT George Kunda has requested the Post Newspaper to publish the violent pictures of the Chawama hacking which depicts violence allegedly perpetrated by Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata.

Mr Kunda said during a public rally at the Maamba stadium that when Mr Sata was Minister Without Portfolio in 2001, he gathered youths who went on rampage hacking the innocent people, preventing them from casting their vote in the Chawama by-election.

He said empirical evidence is there for everyone to see. He said the Post Newspaper, which seems to be doing so much to portray Mr Sata as a good leader, should also focus on Mr Sata’s alleged violent past.

According to a story in the Post newspaper of 19 July, 2001 headlined: ‘FDD will privately prosecute Sata’, the opposition Forum for Democracy and Development(FDD) vowed to mount a private prosecution against Mr Sata for instigating violence in the Chawama parliamentary by-election.

The story quoted FDD chairman Simon Zukas saying his party had gathered enough evidence to commence private prosecution proceedings against Mr Sata, who was also MMD national secretary at the time.

He said the PF/UPND pact is not making progress because the two leaders who engineered it are at crossroads and they don’t know what to tell the sponsors who have been funding them.

At the same rally, defectors swarmed the dais where the Vice-President was speaking from and were immediately wrapped in MMD campaign chitenge material.

Mr Kunda said Livingstone is being upgraded into a world class tourism destination by expanding the international airport and other amenities. He said the province also boasts of being one of the country’s most productive agriculture areas which contributes to reducing poverty.

Mr Kunda directed Southern Province Minister Elijah Muchima to make sure that Sinazongwe gets a modern high school possibly this year as the one in existence is unable to cater for the growing number of pupils.

Mr Kunda, who met with traditional leaders, said the meeting was development- oriented and he greatly appreciated the advice he got from them.

Mr Kunda said the completion of works at Kariba North Bank, Kafue and Itezhi tezhi will position Zambia as a major electricity exporter in the sub-region.

“All these are as a result of the Banda administration. The benefits are immense from these investments. In the past 40 years, there has never been any investment into the energy sector like we have done now. Southern Province stands to benefit greatly as the entire lake shore on Lake Kariba will be lit and this will promote tourism,” he said.

He said the Banda administration is accountable and believes in providing development to the entire country and fighting corruption.

Speaking at the same function, Mr Muchima expressed concern at the absence of member of Parliament Raphael Muyanda from the Vice president’s arrival.

He urged the people of Sinazongwe to think twice and make sure that during the 2011 tripartite elections, they elect a person who will always be available for them and that can only be an MMD MP.

“I expected to see your member of Parliament but he is not here and only one councillor came to receive the Vice President,” he said.

Former PF secretary General Edward Mumbi, who was at the vice-president’s rally, denied allegations by Mr Sata that he had leaked state secrets on the Barotseland Agreement.

  1. Existing evidence in the chawama massacre is to implicating of Sata thuggery for the post tabloid to republish it after they did so in 2001 and 2005 when they served as anti Sata. The good news is that both ZANIS and ZNBC retain clips available for public view on request.

  2. Kunda and Sata hmm…these two fellows like ukuisomsomba. One accusing the other of being gay while the other claims the fellow has red if not beige lips awe kwena.A challenge there for the post, wonder if it will be logical to dance to this song coming from bwana Kunda.

  3. This is without re-exposing his thuggery as a pro third term campaigner untill he was rejected as a unqualified national risk. Ask Nawakwi to reproduce the pictures of victims she posted in the 2005 Post of Sata’s chawama massacre victims. This is from when he instructed his thugs to hack senselessly women and children that opposed his mutilation of the constitution. Also show how he harrassed late Anderson Mazoka over the late’s constitutional right to serve Bauleni as its Branch Chairman. Mazoka was called a mansonist from the tonga tribe that would never be president of Zambia.

  4. Not sure just how many people listened to thursday news on ZNBC when this SICK F’OOL was in Sinazongwe, seemingly undermining why HH has accepted a ‘Junior Role’, on vice president in the pact. What he forgot because of his sickness is that he himself is ‘vice president’, or he needs to be reminded that he is. Come one there a lot of other sick people in this Country but if that starts affecting your reasoning and thinking capacity, I suggest you go back to the village.

  5. I’m not a PF supporter but it looks like George has nothing to do apart from attacking and trying to fix Sata. As lawyer and vice president why not just institute investigations and arrest Sata other than challenging the Post News paper to publish the pictures. That is shallow thinking on his part, the least he can do is maybe have the pictures published in the Government controlled media. I wonder what interest the said pictures are for him to have them in the paper and besides that is just an accusation on Sata and hence it may be unfair to directly associate him to those picture before being tried in the court. With this crop of leaders we have in Zambia, I wonder if our country will ever develop. They are busy dwelling on trivial matters that will not help poor Zambians in any way.

  6. Whats is wrong Veep Kunda, there are more important things he can address the pipo in Maamba among them their terminal benefits etc or developmental issues not Sata did this and that. Pipo can not dwell on the past they need solutions to their numerous problems. What has got the reproduction of the Chawama fracas which oncurred ten years ago got to do with Sata. The Veep is one who is fanning hatred and tribalism. By the way is Sata regarded as an important stakeholder in political landscape or not? Kunda, Sata, RB, HH, Miyanda etc and their followers are Zambians are free to participate in the polical affairs of this country. Why is Kunda talking of the opposition leaders instead of delivering to the Zambian pipo as they are in the driving seat. Kunda and his boss are exhibiting failure

  7. Again RB and his Veep have diverted from the ‘Real Issues’. RB in Luapula and GK in Southern provinces while Western province is on fire. What a sham!

  8. No prizes to the correct guess of who the sponsor of that Chanda Chimba the LXIII, after reading this article.

  9. When you are a Sataist, this is not music to the ear especially in an election year. Unfortunately Mr Sata has a rich recorded history, arising from his insatiable love for power and public attention even when logic demands that he should be keeping his mouth. So you Sataists, just steel up as more reminders are coming. There is more than enough uncomplimentary material from the Post to publish on Mr Sata even twice a day, everyday this year. We can even create a Morning and Evening paper for this purpose and still have enough business for the next two years.

  10. All the problems in the PACT were predicted by George even before they started. To me, he manages to irritate people because he is good at politics. He seem not to care what you think of him. There might be some truth he says abotu HH having accepted the Veep position in the PACT. HH has always dodged that question insisting that positions are not important but outsting the MMD. Just follow through his statements. His supporters dont know this and he is scared to tell them.
When an area MP shun George’s visit to a particular area, he uses that to his advantage by telling the people never to vote for an opposition MP(that is of course if MMD will be in power at the end of the year). Guys, this person still gets his way no matter what you write about him.

  11. #10, on the other hand we can all quote from the brilliant research of Chanda Chimba III, the Veep is no exception.

  12. Chanda Chimba III is a paid mercenary out to discredit the PACT leadership. Yes he has some of his facts right coz he used to work for the state media ZNBC. I dont know all of a sudden he has gone to bed with MMD betraying the sprit of his late brother Major Kangwa who was implicated in the Solo 1997 engineered coup and died while chained by the MMD lead Chiluba regime. I cant believe it. This is Chanda Chimba III is personalising politics. He should be seen to be researching and making productions on all front runners to plot 1. Suppose Sata or HH carried the day will the guy be free to stay in Zambia. This guy is playing bad investigative journalism. All these leaders RB, Sata are all products of UNIP and they are used to same old tactics.Lets give proper facts to pipo vying4public ofice

  13. It appears the Veep sees Sata and HH even in his sleep. Why attack individuals and not what they say they will do for the country?

  14. #8 who cares whether you are a PF supporter or not?
The recorded and undisputable fact is that Mr Sata did those unpalatable things. It is not a matter of prosecution, no one will waste his time on that. Mr Kunda is Vice President/Lawyer/Politician, in one or more of these roles he wants to show us what kind of leader Mr Sata is. If Mr Sata is not suitable material to lead this country, there is no way he can solve the problems of poor Zambians. So what is trivial about a responsible leader warning us? It is his job to protect our interests be it by warning, legal action, prosecution, politics etc. If you are responsible father of your children don’t you warn your children of possible danger?

  15. #12 And what about your George’s backtracking on the big ‘Lazo’ he secured conviction in London and now their best political consultant? Don’t insult Zambians. This will be the year of reckoning. We are tired of this mediocre type of governance and plunder of the national resources by few individuals.

  16. #15 Citizen, Mr Sata has not said what he will do for this country. Instead he is busy rubbishing what others are doing for this country without offering any alternative. What exactly does he stand for? What is his economic antidote for the ills of this economy? How is he going to take our country out of poverty? Does he intend to develop this country by razing all the schools, hospitals, roads etc that his more serious colleagues have built and start his own, or is he going to build on these? Why doesn’t he tell us these things if he wants our votes?

  17. MMD has always been a violent party. In 2001 Sata was in MMD. From the time PF was formed, Sata has been totally different, thats why Red Lips cannot point at any violence allegedly to have been fomented and perpetrated by Sata as PF leader.
The violence and death caused by MMD is still fresh in people’s minds. Look at the needless massacre of people in Mufumbwe, Chilanga and now Mongu.
What cheap propaganda from red lips

  18. #19, Mr Sata is now totally different? Really? Or are you trying to “launder” him? We are not kids you know, get that clear in your head.

  19. Iwe Chi Kunda ulekwatako amano! How did u become Vice President with such lack of reasoning? If Sata did what is alleged then he did it under the MMD. So why didn’t the MMD disown his actions then and only wants to do so now? Its because the MMD always sweeps dirt under the carpet and just wants to reveal this dirt when they want to go after someone. Are these the kind of principles we want in a ruling party? And Kunda please focus on your manifesto not on the PF UNPD. And I agree 100 percent with what the Jackal says above #8

  20. #16 you are wasting your time trying to demonize Sata one thing you must be aware of is that Sata has a track record of success in the ministries he has held starting from when he was Governor of Lusaka in the UNIP era. He is a man of action. You must know that you only have one vote to deny Sata. The majority Zambians will speak for themselves in the ballot. Teka akasanga mulinso bwana.

  21. Brilliant research of Chanda Chimba? He is a bootlicking journalist who has no source of income and as such he can lick any arse who gives him food for the table. That is exactly the environment the MMD wants to create for all journalists in Zambia. They should have nowhere to turn to once the state media has fired them. So that they must come back to the MMD with Yes bwana programmes that the MMD can reward with a payment. Journalists worth their salt must rebel!

  22. #22 that is laughable.
Yes Mr Sata is a man of action in many ways, but human beings balance the good actions against the bad actions and weigh the balance. Unfortunately for your Mr Sata, the scale tilts heavily in the negative and that is what voters look for, not now but when they enter the polling booth.

  23. # 15,

Kindly list here when and what your satana says he will do for this country other than saying he wants an imaginary inauguration in Independence station with Mugabe, his South African apartheid sponsors, now treasoned Imasiku Mutangelwa of the Lungambo insurgency and some taiwanese to attend.

  24. #20 Remember Sata has had elections stolen from him twice by MMD (2006 & 2008). He has never advocated for violence but always gone to court to seek redress. He commands and has more influence on the people now than he had in 2001.
If he was a violent person he could easily tell his infuriated supporters to pour out onto the streets and cause chaos. He has not done that.

  25. #25 If Sata is not a factor in Zambian politics why is he a pain in the neck for you and MMD? Face the facts. If Sata has no substance you and the MMD minions were not going to waste time to talk about him, because you can easily deft him in an election but he has given you a good run for your money and you know for sure that the big threat to your positions is Sata. The ballot will speak for itself.

  26. Fact! Zambians work culture needs the like of Sata to change it for the benefit of the country. He need to cleanse the country of laziness, corruption and laizerfare. Time to work and not leaving jackets on the chairs only to pick them at 17:00hrs.

  27. Mr Kunda, we thought you were a great man when you worked with Mwanawasa but now RB has reduced you to the dullest lawyer in the whole world.

You are always preaching tribalism against Sata and HH. Always demeaning HH but you are also a vice to global troting RB.

My dear its better you resign and rest before the uncurable disease consumes you. Just continue toping up pa moyo in peace.

  28. Ba Senior Citizen, I have a strong feeling that you must be in the MMD inner circle. You sound so desparate. You are so scared of Sata becoming president.

  29. Ok, Sata has been at the receiving end of all the gvnt propaganda, mud has been thrown his way in all forms.Has this broken him down,NO,if he was to call a rally today, even the rats would come out to listern to him,he has charisma.Has all this propaganda made people change their minds not to support Him,i doubt, the only way to tell is through the ballot,so far he has shown by winning almost all by-elections.People have seen and heard all the bad things about Sata but has this archieved its intended purpose,i doubt it too
I think the strategy of delaying the PACT candidate is working fine, coz if they settle for HH,it will be too late for Chanda Chimba to come up with another documentary
PS;im not PF/UPND just an independent mind-swing voter

  30. #34…

You are right man. People of Zambia are now tiered listening to mad lies against Sata from the MMD.

We Zambians have seen Sata that he means businss with people. Sata has not changed his stance as a politician for the people. MMD has failed to bribe him like other dull politicians who have gone back to MMD.

Zambians have seen what Sata can do..so they will vote for Sata.

Zambians have resolved to vote for Sata no matter what the MMD thieves and their bootlickers say against him.

  31. “Success is not measured by what you accomplish but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.”
    Orison Swett Marden

  32. Let us not waste time commenting on stories published by one of Banda’s toilet papers. The Post is Mmembe’s private project, using his private money. He is welcome to write what he wants. The toilet papers (Daily Mail and Times) use tax payers’ money to campaign against the opposition.

  33. Now I agree with Mpombo that this vice president is “the most stupid vice president that the country has ever had”. Sata was MMD and was acting on behalf of MMD. The violence showed that MMD is violent political party. Its (MMD) president then FTJ, (now consultant of MMD under RB, and the “the Dam Good President”) never condemed Sata just as RB allows William Banda to do anything in his (RB’s) name. I dont support Sata, for my own reasons, but I think that GK lacks the capacity to think lgically, clearly and reasonably. He should know who and what Sata was in MMD before he makes some hate statements. If Sata was such a bad character, and the party (MMD) was clean, why hasnt Sata been prosecuted since 2001 when he left MMD? Sata and MMD are birds of the same father.

  34. U know these mmd guys think we are so dull that we can swallow anyhting they say to us without critical thoughts. Ok they say Sata is a violent man and they have records to attest to this. But one suprising thing is that it was expected that if sata was violnet after leaving the mmd the mmd could have remained a peaceful party and the party sata formed could have become violent. But it is the opposite Sata left the mmd but its stil violent and his PF is not violent The question is who is really violent . is it the mmd as a party or sata as an individual. Logically sata is a peaceful man and mmd as a party is a violent party period. Let the deal with the violence in the party before commenting irrationally. Whre does george put William Banda – A very peaceful man eeehh

  35. #40 Having said that, remember that M’membe’s money is not “private money” as such , the public buys his “stories” and that is how he makes his money. But also he borrows from places such as the NAPSA ( Public pension funds for Zambian workers), Finance Bank (Depositors cash ) check detailed stories on the Zambian Airways SAGA. Find out the role of M’membe & his print media there. Tax is public money ask ZRA how much M’membe owes them? It is a pity that when we are supposed to make suggestions on how the public media should provide news we are so despondent to it. The public media, Radio, Television and printed media financed by public funds should not be viewed as enemy of the people. Instead some people accord the un necessary value to the hostile media with its own agenda .

  36. Sata threatened to sue after the Kitwe rally, GK has dared him again. I hope Mr Kabimba will follow through with any threeats the duo make, if any, this time. Its becoming boring.

  37. As long as its the PF involved the Post will look the other way. Talk about biased reporting, this sounds like it!

  38. The veep surely has more pressing issues than him almost on a daily basis attacking Sata and the Pact or HH.It is now expected that daily if it is not the veep then it is that guy Mumbi saying this and that about sata i mean pliz we are spending too much money as tax payers on the veep and i dont think we are that interested in him becoming a spokesperson for the pact. The post is a tabloid and they will write what they think will sale not necessarily like the way it is with ZNBC ,DAILY,TIMES where they are practically given news to give pipo by the MMD(Govt).

  39. Yes..imagine since 2001 when Sata formed PF there has been no violence reported in PF but look at the MMD, MMD has killed people in Mufumbwe, Injured people in Solwezi, Chilanga , Serenje etc.

So who is violent? People of Zambia judge for yourselves.

  40. Police Gun down BA Anarchist

Two people have died in Mongu-Western Province, among them a child, after a group of people ran amok over the Barotseland Agreement of 1964.

Police shot dead one man as attempts to stop him from setting ablaze a filling station failed.

Home Affairs Minister Mkhondo Lungu says the consequences would have been grave, had the man not been stopped.

And Mr Lungu says the child died after he was hit by a stone, as a stone-throwing group went on rampage in Mongu.

Mr. Lungu however says government regrets the loss of life.

The Home Affairs Minister says several people from Mongu and Lusaka have been arrested by police for threatening the peace of the country.

Mr. Lungu says the group that went on rampage threw stones at police and the general…

  41. George Kunda is very immature and he, just like Senior Citizen cannot deal with issues at hand. All they dream about is how to bring down SATA and PF.
There is a problem is Western Province and that is what we have to focus on solving. This is not a time to be petty.

  42. #s 34 & 38
Pleas tell us what sata said he would do for Zambia apart from his delussional 90 day development and dropping manee in pipos pockets. What is the developmetal agenda Sata has ? None, zero. That is why he never engages on his developmental plans, he has none. Zambians are not fools. We want to see development if you are in GRZ or hear development if you are the opposition. Sata thought thought he would be presido by default, but RBs project deliveries have bewildered him. Atleast at first he tried to dupe us with development in 90 days. Now he is zeeeee on deveopment. We are not *****s who will fall for tribal politics. Tell us how you will develop Zambia

  43. we have non veep in zed..this man isn’t a politician..he likes attacking others at the expense of development ..why waste people’s time?choose wisely bane ..pact!

  44. Thank you, I have just been looking for information approximately this topic for a while and yours is the best I’ve found out so far. But, what concerning the conclusion? Are you positive about the supply?|What i do not realize is in reality how you’re now not really much more smartly-preferred than you might be right now. You’re very intelligent.
