Father Frank Bwalya has suspected an MMD government under hand on the revelations by the former electoral commission of Zambia director’s revelations against the chairperson Florence Mumba.
Father Frank Bwalya suspects that the move ECZ former director Dan Kalale to reveal corrupt activities against Justice Mumba is meant to tarnish her name by the MMD.
He noted that the MMD government just wants a new person to head the commission so that they could manipulate this year’s election.
The change life Zambia executive director has, however, called on the stakeholders to move in at ECZ and arrest the situation.
He said that if the revelations by the former ECZ director are true, government should ensure that culprits are brought to book.
Father Bwalya said that the developments at the Zambia’s electoral body are of a great concern especially that Zambia will be under-going general elections.
He said that Zambia could not afford to have an elections regulator that is having questionable characters at this particular moment.
The Executive Director stated that Zambia needs to have an election commission of Zambia that is above board.
And Couthern African Centre for Constructive Resolution and Disputes (SACCORD) has called on government wings to ensure that the revelations made by Dan Kalale were investigated.
The organization’s information officer Obby Chibuluma said that the authorities should move in and help restore order at the commission to restore confidence in electorates.
Mr. Chibuluma noted that the failure to restore confidence at the commission would result in having questionable elections this year.
On Monday, former ECZ Director Danny Kalale made revelations that he was dismissed after he refused to allow KPMG auditing firm that was single sourced to carry out a one-week confidential audit at ECZ at a cost of one billion kwacha.
Mr. Kalale announced that he was going to report to the anti-corruption commission.
Meanwhile, the Zambia Youths Association in the Fight against Corruption (ZYAFAC) says Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chairperson Florence Mumba should be relieved of her duties.
ZYAFAC Executive Director Rickson Kanema said reports of corrupt activities believed to have perpetuated by Ms. Mumba are disappointing and that they are putting the credibility and integrity of the commission at stake.
Mr. Kanema said such reports could be just an ice tip of the many corrupt activities that may be happening at ECZ adding that the Law Enforcement Agencies need to investigate the matter urgently.
Mr. Kanema added the ECZ needs to have its sanity restored if the country is to have free, fair,and credible elections this year.
Mr. Kanema was speaking in an interview with QFM News this morning.

There is alot of issues are ECZ…. MMD are still planning the best way possible to rig this year’s elections. Kalale should tell the nation how they rig election so that the loop holes can b mended before the election.

Can the zambian people please organise security for kalale because he is going to be killed any time. Loosing a job in zambia is not an easy thing to handle especially when you are not prepared and as such kalale will spill alot which might not even allow the elections to go on. Mass restructuring is needed at this institition but not this time starting from the head. When ever they lost elections they accused Kalale of helping to rig the elections.The man is out they claim he is pure only that they have hounded him out so that the elections ARE RIGGED.What is realy good for these dull politicians.Their leader is on record of having demanded for the dismisal of Kalale TEN TIMES OVER.But because he is the Chief Twister you will see what will come out of his foul mouth! Do bloggers remember the letter from Sata to RB on his wife’s evacuation that was published in the Post recently? Remember that the letter referred to Sata’s “gratitude” in passing, and H.E.R.B. complained about that? Well yes the evacuation of Dr Kaseba was never meant to be the main purpose of the letter, it was just a camouflage for the bigger picture. Remember that the letter touched on ECZ and the need for the government to ensure that coming elections would be credible? Remember that some leaders’ reputation has taken a knock in recent weeks? MMD take our warnings very very seriously because we shall not let you continue ruling through rigging. Tunisia is a very good example and will still be very fresh in our minds. I am even surprised at the time I was in Chipata I never heard of RB’s farm and yet I used to jog past that area from former Cyrstal Springs Hotel opposite Chipata airstrip. At least I visited late Ken Ngondo’s farm (MHSRIP) and know where it is located. MMD has stolen alot money through dubious projects and single sourcing. Your sins will find you out one day. :Quite right that we are interested in change. But are sure of the guyz whi will take over. PF, UPND, FDD etc have never changed leaders. Cooperating Partner support is for a democratic country.
