Father Bwalya

Change life Zambia Executive Director Father Frank Bwalya was yesterday summoned by the Zambia police for holding the Save Zambia conference in Livingstone.

This came to light when Father Bwalya and Citizens forum executive secretary were preparing to address scores of Livingstone residents on the need to have a new constitution.

Despite the explanation to the Zambia Police officers in plain clothes, the two social commentators were asked to go to the police station for what was referred to as a meeting.

Mr. Kabanda refused to go and asked Father Bwalya to go and meet the officer in-charge, and some suspected intelligence officers.

Sources told QFM Livingstone that police had no idea that the conference was going to be addressed by Father Bwalya.

Sources further said that the local authority only allowed the conference to take place thinking that it was a district committee and not father Bwalya.

After a meeting that lasted over 20 minutes Father Bwalya was released and warned not to issue any inflammatory statement.

Father Bwalya obliged and stated that he will, however, “call a spade a spade” adding that Zambians needed a new constitution before elections.

Meanwhile, scores of people attended the save Zambia conference.

Father Bwalya told Livingstone residents that he will not be intimidated by those in authority over his rights to associate with anyone.

Speaking at the occasion, citizen’s forum executive secretary charged that the MMD government will rig this year’s election.

He asked the people who attended the conference to demand for a new constitution to avoid the people in government to secretly rig elections.

  1. HEALTH workers in Ndola angered health minister Kapembwa Simbao when they chanted slogans denouncing the MMD symbol, the clock.

As Simbao together with Ministry of Health spokesperson Dr Kamoto Mbewe, Copperbelt provincial medical officer Chandwa Ng’ambi, Ndola Central Hospital executive director Dr Dande Malawo and other hospital directors walked in the dining hall on Thursday, they were greeted with a slogan “icinkoloko cenu ba Simbao califwa your watch is dead”.

  2. And this man called Mr. Capitalist calls this fair treatment of Zambians? How can a democratic country arrest a law abiding Zambian citizen just for addressing a gathering? Intimidation is not good honestly!!!! Zambia is being shown as a police state if the police acts like this. The intelligence officers are there for the safety of every Zambian citizen and not for intimidating of Zambian citizens. This will only create resentment in the minds and hearts of Zambians and create militancy in the end.

What is wrong with us Africans? Are we born with just a Gene that makes us to fight every form of free speech and democracy? WHY?

What our government should know is that, Zambia is safe when people air their grievances freely than underground!!
Please don’t provoke Zambians for no…

  3. Its time we citizens organized a mass demo to denouce MMD so that this chaps’s thick heads can realize that time is really out for them. If every district can demonstrate against MMD it will be the best warning for MMD to know there’sn nothing they can do to change the direction of the wind of change blowing accross Zambia. We all have acommon enemy MMD and we need to unit more than ever because thye MMD only has one weapon to use for changing peoples minds “Tribalism”. This is simply to devide votes on tribal lines and alos to kill the PACT. Tribes are of Africa are actuially a curse for Africa. It has retarded this continent for too long. That why we need free education so that majority of zambians can be educated enough to analyse issue and move away from the days of Tribes.

  4. That Mr Bwalya (Fr Bwalya) should be arrested and charged with treason. He is inciting people everywhere to revolt. The govt should try to control his excitement. This guy is trying together with the Post and Sata to prepare people’s minds that the MMD will rig elections. They want people not to accept the outcome of the elections if they fall in favor of MMD. The know that MMD is going to win again.

  5. I think kaEgypt kalefwaika paZed. Bakapokola they are so 19th Century in their behaviour. Zambians wake up, these MMD chaps have sent you to sleep while they are looting. Go Father Bwalya, Go!

  6. It seems Banda and his minions balabelesha. They are taking Zambians for granted. They think they own Zambia. To them we are all tenants. Only MMD can do whatever they want. This is turning into a Police State now. Banda is thinking we are his dependents and we all have to go to him for our rights. Kaunda at one time thought the same and he had a rude shock when he found himself alone with Kamalondo and William Banda. It seems Rupiah did not learn from that change. These guys soon they will be asking us to get Police Permits to get angry. If you get angry with MMD with no permit they will send you to jail. They need to learn a lesson and the sooner the better. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. It is our Zambia too.

  7. The police and intelligence wing better be careful how they go about handling matters to do with assembly. My advice is that they must let people discuss issues, however, if they feel to be present, let them do so without intimidation. The elections are near by therefore we must be careful how we handle each other. True enough, through stupidity, we are going to be a part of the domino effect sweeping North Africa. We are not different from those guys. One Zambai One Nation.

  8. People were ready to die for their country and rights in Tunisia and are ready to die for their country in Egypt. Soon it will be in Zambia. Banda wants to rule through intimidation. No, it is him who has to fear us. We are the employers, not him. If we see something wrong, we have a right to voice out. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have to voice out when we see injustice taking place in our nation. This is not the Zambia we wanted. He wants to turn Zambia into Zimbabwe. Hell no. We know he carries the mentality of Mugabe and he is his fan, but we are not. Please let us stop this guy before we lose control of our nation. Today it is Bwalya and other opposition leader, tomorrow it will be us. Look at how the media is controlled. Kelly Chubili at ZNBC was fired for allowing a true story aired.

  9. I admire the way Fr Frank Bwalya said about the holding of the new constitution before the elections.Well done and we shall support you, but no fighting

  10. Ladies and Gentlemen, why do you think they have sent all these Shushushu bloggers to work at the embassies. Capitalist in Canada, Senior Citizen in DC, Bootlicker in SA, that mad dog in UK, Every embassy now has a blogger to spread MMD nonsense in foreign nations and watch what is being said abroad. Look back home, what cases are being prosecuted? Only those that have an inclination to the opposition. Chalwe, convicted but was allowed to contest elections in MMD, meaning they have no intentions to cage that bastard. Meanwhile they hound Fr Bwalya like he has committed a crime by speaking to people who want to hear from him. Fr Bwalya does not force people to listen to him, they (Zambians) like him. That is why they follow, buy his red card and want to listen to him.

  11. ifwe ba kopala twalibatemwa ba faza Bwalya pantu balanda ifishinka, legi kargi ilefwaika konse mu mu sumba wa Zambia, kuno ku kopala twaliifisha konse fye. Bonse ni legi kargi twakwata iyakupela ba MMD uno umwaka. Aba baise, abakote, bonse fye tupunda achi donchi kubeba!!!

  12. Two wrongs never make a right.Bwalya as religious leader is wrong in the way he is expressing his views. His followers belong to MMD and other parties not just PF.So really if he has borne to chew with MMD he had better sort their audience. Not turning himself into a shameles cadre. He is inciting Zedians.Arrest him.
