Fr Bwalya ‘s $45m plot exposed

Share

Father Bwalya

THE Government has unearthed a plot involving Frank Bwalya’s Change Life Zambia (CLZ) and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) directors who have been holding secret meetings to discuss the possibility of moving more than US$45 million into the country to incite political unrest.

Lands Deputy Minister Michael Mabenga told journalists at his office in Lusaka yesterday that the Government was also aware that Father Bwalya was working with directors of Anti-Rigging and together they had linked themselves to the Patriotic Front (PF), an indication that their motives as NGOs were evil.

“The Government has classified information about all of the meetings as well as plans and their motives to destabilise the country.

“We are not sleeping, we are aware of all the dealings and happenings involving Fr Bwalya and his colleagues. Let them deny this then we shall show the evidence of these meetings dubbed kitchen meetings,” Mr Mabenga said.

He said the unfortunate thing was that the named NGOs wanted to source money to be used to incite people into civil disobedience.

Mr Mabenga described the motives as evil, especially that those involved were aware that they were planning to commit a crime.

He accused Fr Bwalya of being behind the scheming of violence in the country and said it was sad that a person calling himself a priest had decided to use the NGO to champion his own selfish agendas.

“This group consists of some lawyers who represent Fr Bwalya as well PF leader Michael Sata and bank personnel who have vowed not to rest until they get rid of our President Rupiah Banda.

“We are aware that they have been meeting at some law firm in Bwinjimfumu Road and along Leopards Hill Road to strategise their campaign gimmicks using civil unrest once the $45 million is moved into the country. We are, however, warning them, let them tread cautiously,” he said.

Mr Mabenga said President Banda had been preaching peace in Zambia, especially that the country is scheduled to hold elections this year and wondered why Fr Bwalya and his allies had found it necessary to agitate for violence.

He said Fr Bwalya did not deserve to be called a Catholic Father because he had done all the wrongs a priest would not do.

  1. What are you speaking as??? Govt spokes person, MMD spokes person or what? RB be carefull all these are bent on making you beleive nonsense!! we have heard those stories before! a father who cant even afford to drive himselse to Kitwe can have such kind of money??

  2. MMD is now afraid of its own shadow. Its the voters like the young people of western and luapula province that should make you have sleepless nights. your days are numbered going by your psychotic symptons.

  3. Why cry “wolf” ? If indeed there are such plans and our shushushu have the information why not take appropriate action? Such stories only cause fear and despondency or are a sign on nervousness.

  4. There they go again. All these are acts of a COWARD. Why should the mmd invest all its energies in frustrating someone they characterise as insignificant? Leave him alone. If your claims are true, he is just reciving genuine support to help fight injustice. Today, there is nothing more noble than what Fr,. Bwalya is pursuing……fighting injustice by a few criminals against the rest of the Zambians. VIVA Fr. Bwalya, VIVA free speech and ABASH RBish and his cronies.

  5. haha..MMD in deep trouble. They dont know what has hit them, Zambians can’t listen to you any more, lies upon lies upon lies and lies. We told you that you were campaining for Sata and Father Bwalya. Now father bwalya and Sata are heros and its you who have made them such.

Dont tell more lies that these two people are planing to destablize Zambia, no no, Just say that the youth of Zambia like their tunisian and egyptian counterparts will this year 2011 fight for their rights if MMD rigs elections. So let us have free and fare elections and then all will be well, otherwise brace yourselves for revolution.

  6. Fr Bwalya is a big sting to the MMD even is yoning is a threat to them. Now they are just working to eliminate is life. But if what he says is not true ignore him. But your reactions tells alot; may be he says the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. This Telesphored Mpundu’s rejected son calling himself Bwalya’ is consumed with desperation leading to a personalized malgedon.

  8. Its MMD who want to distablize Zambia through the Banabulenje of Congo….MMD is using Kashobwe radio station of Katanga province in Congo to denounce Sata and father bwalya. They want the Congo rebels to invade Luapula province just coz people of Luapula have refused to support MMD.

These Vampires have lost all sense of shame, seasoned hypocrites, let the congolese be warned that Zambia is a sovereign nation , hence they should not entefere in its internal affairs. This is what the MMD thugs are doing now ….. what a govnt full of failures.

Now since you have been exposed you want to tell lies as if you speaking to illiterates, you are mistaken guys.

And just think of it a thief Mabenge is the one talking about peace when he has killed many innocent people by stealing money.

  9. A very Junior party official is talking about such a big scheme??? This is very strange. Father Bwalya is being trailled by the ShuShuShu everywhere, no wonder they used call boys from the townships to harrase him at Intercity. First the ShuShuShu followed a wrong car they percieved he was travelling in. They bungled the mission. Later they located him at Intercity and unleashed thugs on him. It wond work. had UPND and PF reacted, there could have been a riot at intercity. MMD you will be blamed for any loss of life concerning Father Bwalya issues.

  10. KENNEDY Sakeni says Michael Sata’s recent campaign tour of Luapula has ignited such panic within MMD that it is now using a radio station in the DRC to denounce him.

Sakeni, who is PF Luapula Province chairman, revealed that Radio Kashobwe, a radio station based in Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) had been broadcasting anti-Sata messages and programmes to the surrounding areas since Sunday.

“Radio Kashobwe has been broadcasting messages that denounce PF, and our president in particular. They did that yesterday Monday around 15:00 hours and on Sunday around the same time,” Sakeni said.
He said Radio Kashobwe is situated right across the Luapula River, opposite Kawambwa district.

  11. The defunct Pact was damagingly divided from its conception, and only an overhaul with leadership change in the level of mutual communication and understanding can ameliorate their none progressive onset of chaotic regionalism, kaponyalism and sectarianism of the PF troll Frank Bwalya.

  12. “In their messages and programmes they are denouncing Mr Sata and campaigning for Mr Rupiah Banda. In fact, in their quest to campaign for Mr Banda they are even making alarming statements,” Sakeni said.

“But that kind of propaganda is baseless, uncalled for and will not yield anything, especially that our people in Luapula are well informed politically and otherwise.”

He said during these programmes many Zambians had phoned the radio station to protest.

“Some callers have protested and urged the Congolese not to interfere in our internal affairs. As PF provincial chairman, my advice to our Congolese brothers is that Zambia is a sovereign state and we are not going to take kindly to any external interference in our internal affairs,” Sakeni said.

  13. “If there are people within the Congo who think they can use their money to buy our people’s conscience, they are mistaken and they won’t succeed. Let them stick to Congolese politics because the people of Zambia will not take kindly to such. Luapula is not part of Katanga, if they think Luapula is Congo let them cross back.”

He said the PF would register its displeasure over the conduct of Radio Kashobwe using established diplomatic channels.

“They have been cheating Rupiah about his imaginary popularity in Luapula so they are now worried after seeing the support Mr Sata still commands in the region,” Sakeni said.

  14. #8 Read the story and them comment on it, rather than just spewing hate. On the comments made by this Mabenga chap, I am suprised that a minister can start disclosing ‘classified’ information if at all it exists. It also appears strange that a deputy minister of lands should be the one disclosing such information. Moving to the next point; $45million is alot of money, and it cannot easily be moved into Zambia without someone falling under the suspicion of money laundering. My conclusion therefore, is that this is the usual nonesense from a tired government that is begging to be put to rest!

  15. “Let me make it clear to them that the idea of using a radio station based on foreign soil to denounce PF or to appeal to our people’s conscience is an act of desperation. The people of Luapula are decided about change and they are not going back.”

He said the MMD was wasting its time with its propaganda against Sata and PF in Luapula.

“They are panicking and they know that all is lost in Luapula for them. Their own lies about Luapula have come to haunt them. I am afraid they have seen it for themselves where they stand in so far as Luapula is concerned,” Sakeni said. “I must say that as PF we are working very well with their own people no wonder wherever Mr Sata went in Luapula, MMD cadres were part of that large crowd. Tell them that even if they are giving bicycles that were…

  16. Sakeni said Sata was welcomed very well by the traditional leaders he met during his Luapula tour.

“I pity the MMD, it seems the crowds they saw confused them so now they have resorted to lies about our chiefs,” said Sakeni

  17. I do not agree with michael mabenga this is a storm in a tea cup. where can bwalya get that amount of money from and which donor can be so dull as to fund this shameless catolika fornicator

  18. Imagine this is how desperate the MMD thugs have become. They have ganged up with the Banabuleje of congo katanga province to instill fear in the people of Luapula province. What a govnt full of dull creatures who sell their own country to foreign rebels.

But still it will not work, whether the Banabuleje rebels are there or not, the people of luapula will kick out the MMD thieves this year.

  19. These thugs cannot stand anyone who cahllenges them. Fr. Bwalya has become their pre-occupation because he is telling the truth. We all need to support him and ensure that the constitution retains the people’s contributions vis a vis; the 50% plus one clause, o one should be sworn in until all grievances are addressed, and the vice president should be a running mate and not hand-picked to lick the bosse’s dirty boots.Today, RBish has sent his thugs to haunt mulongoti, a fellow criminal for challenging RB’s favoured candidate, mad dog george kunda. Mwanya, wina azalila! VIVA Fr. Bwalya, VIVA free speech and ABASH RBish and his cronies.

  20. please mmd dont show your desperaion in public like this, you are the party in government why not arrest and take him to court. if i have killed a person do you need to wait for my response before arresting me -then i will never respond so that you dont arrest me. In all fairness ubu bupuba.

  21. Sounds like the speech of an incompetent who knows that his incompetence has been totally exposed, and is now trying to somehow cover it up, in the vain hope that he will not be chucked out by his employers.
The current government has done extreme violence to the people’s aspirations and, therefore, no physical violence is necessary to remove it from power. All things being equal, the collective wisdom of the people of this country, who have daily borne the pain of deprivation and frustrated hopes, should peacefully and effectively boot the incompetent government out at the coming polls.
    Mabenga was ranting!

  22. “We are not sleeping, we are aware of all the dealings and happenings involving Fr Bwalya and his colleagues. Let them deny this then we shall show the evidence of these meetings dubbed kitchen meetings,” Mr Mabenga said.Surely, with such “evidence” at his disposal, is calling reporters to his office and say that, the logical thing to do.? People like Mabenga are the ones fermenting trouble in this country and the sooner they are caged the better.

  23. on second thought i think the inteligence sources could have informed the powers that be that what farther Bwlya is doing is having an impact on the ground and are now shooting in the air to bring him down. VJ you are former inteligence chief you can do better than this.

  24. This is the type of leadership I always talk about. Pure crap from the man and what’s worse, the Times of Zambia has the b@**s to report such. Who is Mabenga to report a scam unearthed by Government? Why is Government waiting for Bwalya and his cronies to deny the allegation before they release the facts? The whole political scene in this country is like the badly scripted (and acted) South American and Philipino soaps shown on ZNBC and Muvi. There’s just no maturity and objectivity. How I weep for this country…

  25. What are you waiting for? Arrest him!!!! But I know you cant because this is just a stu pid rumour aimed at inciting the masses against Frank Bwalya

  26. MMD OR MOVEMENT FOR MASS DISTRUCTION, WE AS ZAMBIANS ARE TIRED OF YOUR MEDIOCRE TYPE OF LEADERSHIP. THAT POMPOUS OLD TWIT OCCUPYING STATE HOUSE MUST CHECKOUT ASAP TOGETHER WITH HIS CHRONIES AND LITTLE POT BEELLIED RED LIPPED MINIONS

  27. Father Bwalya is a threat to national security and he needs to be caged.hes not a peace loving zambian.Pipo OPEN YOUR EYES!!
#17 and 18,go to luapula nad thats when you will understand why they are using a radio station from Congo.the zambian transmission is terrible so pipo listen to those stations from congo.
So all you PF,say bye bye to your party coz they aint gonna rule this country.

  28. I ‘ve never seen desperation and naivity from a party like mmd who have seasoned thieves & crooks (FTJ & VJ) in their ranks. can someone advise Mabenga. Alaapena!

  29. #30..

Just to remind you of the Egyptian police. The egyptian police are begging people to forgive them, are saying they were just used. This is the same with you , are being used by RB.

Where on earth a foreign country started campaigning for a foreign country? Is that not interference.

Dont use the Banabulenje congo rebels to intimidate people of Luapula into voting MMD. No no it will not work guys. This is desperation at its best you MMD thieves.

  31. Fear is faith that it won’t work out.
    WE NEED CHANGE WITHOUT FEAR………..
Fear holds you back from flexing your risk muscle, so consider this:
what you fear about tomorrow is not here yet.
    Just prepare for it.
Fear is like the darkroom, because dark rooms are where negative thoughts are developed.
If you can help fearing, remember fear can’t help you either.

  32. THESE PF CADRES WILL NOT REST THEY WILL DO ANYTHING TO BRING A SNAKE INTO STATE HOUSE NOW THEY WANT TO SET THE COUNTRY ON FIRE, WHAT A JOKE ONE BLOGGER hantoboolo and ka john phiri told us here that UNHOLY FATHER BWALYA speaks for the voiceless Zambians, atase!! this thug is a PF mouth piece, let him JUST COME OUT IN THE OPEN AND DECLARE HIS POLITICAL INTENTIONS. THIS YEAR PF IS IN A FIX NO CASH FOR CAMPAIGNS . WHAT USED TO HAPPEN WAS DIRT MONEY WOULD BE SENT INTO FINANCE BANK AS INVESTMENTS FROM OFFSHORE OR DIASPORA BUSINESS MEN, THEN MAROONED INTO FAKE PF HANDS, IMAGINE WHY WOULD A PRESIDENT CLOSE A BANK THAT WAS AS GOOD AS ZANACO. GUYS WORK UP. NOW THAT THE TAP IS CLOSED LET WAIT AND SEE, AM SO SO HAPPY WITH THE DRAMA HAPPENING IN PF.

  33. This is the type of leadership I always talk about. Pure crap from the man and what’s worse, the Times of Zambia has the b@**s to report such. 34. Without taking sides i seem to think the article states they are trying to get the money into the country…
Those mentioned include bankers lawyers etc…
It doesn’t seem to suggest Mr Bwalya has the money so i don’t know how some people keep arguing that how can a guy getting on public transport get that kind of money…
Well its a shock to some but in the western world some millionaires still use those means of…transport.
I just add which ever side of the spectrum you are on do not take things lightly there is only 1 Zambia some of you have hiden agendas just like GRZ, just like PF and just like Bwalya

  35. Learn from the egyptians
Virtuall all political minions were insinuating chaos if mubarak was to leave…ALL THIS WAS FEAR OF UNKNOWN…u can not cross the bridge before you get there
    Fear never fixes anything.
Shakes spear wrote, “our doubts are traitors, and they make us lose what we of might win, by fearing to attempt.
The bible says that “fear of man brings a snare” Prov29:25
Trust in the Lord because is our strength of our lives of whom shall we be afraid – Ps 27:1: Ps56:4
DO NOT FEAR MAN..HE IS NOTHING BUT A CABBAGE FEAR ONLY GOD because with HIM NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE…who thot egypt can inject the powerful Mubarak????
do not be fooled BY CHEAP POLITICIANS JUST CHANGE AND MOVE OWN WITH WHAT COMES……

  36. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GROW WITHOUT CHANGE.
Those who can not change their minds can not change anything.
The truth is that life is always at the turning point.
What we all need is progress.
Can we have it without change?
    Impossible!

  37. My dear beloved friends do not fear Change like the Americans did on the health reforms.
In order to experience new waters, we need to take the risk like Obama did (you can not say it is a mistake when you have not tried it).

  38. Mabenga is confused. This $45M is the amount budgeted for Edward Mumbi, Chanda Chimba, Lifwekelo, Chifire and Chimumbwa. There is a mix up here……

  39. Very true Godfrey. Who in their right minds would give 45 million US DOLLARS to a priest or anyone at that for the purposes stated in this report? Its not like people in the West have bottomless pockets into which they dip whenever they want to destabilise an inconsequential nation such as Zambia. The story is from a single source and has not been verified by anyone else. The affected NGOs have not been approached for a comment and you call this journalism? And people buy this trash??? It is sewage journalism that can only happen in a Zambian newspaper.

  40. #50 Kamba Timvere

You seem not to understand how the world works… you have little knowledge on such matters research a little and see who actually benefits from conflics
Check what institutions benefit the most from such a situation
Also so you can start from the WAR in the USA way back towards the end of slavery then you wont talk of deep pockets

  41. The entire govt & its machinery are now behaving like cornered rats, with nowhere to run to!!! They have no shame to fabricate anything that may help perpetuate their throttlehold to power.

Zambians are too intelligent to but this bull crap

  42. Its surprising that MMD Chairman Micheal Mabenga and others are not sleeping at the mere fact that Fr. Bwalya and others are strategising to incite violence in the country using the US$45m from where? These guys in MMD have realised that their days are numbered and have started developing cold feet. Its unbelievable that a seating Govt can be scared of its own shadows. This is all a pack of lies from Mabenga they just want to find an excuse to arrest Fr. Bwalya and others percieved to be a threat to their leadership and continued plunder of our resources including kickbacks from investors.

  43. #40
OCTOPUS PAUL BWALYA – Calm down. We fought Unip in order for Zambians to aspire freely to any office in the land, to choose leaders of their choice. It is not the PF Kaponyas who will want to bring the snake in State House, it is the Zambians. You are the ones(MMD) who fail to understand the rule of the game. You are prepared to slander other people(Who are Zambians and have the same rights to become MP, President etc)but you rreact badly whenever your mistakes are pointed out. Come on man you can do better.

  44. Lusakatimes.com please stop giving propaganda stories from the Times and Daily Mail additional coverage!
Concentrate on reporting only stories you have researched and verified!

  45. Mr Mabenga’s language is very strong, ”GRZ has classified info”, ‘Secret meetings dubbed Kitchen meetings’, ‘Destabilise the country and vow to remove our president Banda’ and ‘to move $45m for the purpose’. Mr Mabenga’s outbursts are potential ingredients for another ‘treason case’ circus. Why all these jitters?

  46. #51 can you please elaborate on your point? In case of such a situation in Zambia who is going to benefit from it? Also tell us a little about the war in the USA towards the end of slavery. How does that compare to the Zambian situation?

  47. MMD is connered , they have now exhousted all lies they had against Sata and Father bwalya but to no avail. They dont know what to do next. If indeed they have information why cant they arrest Bwalya? But remeber the lie of $100 000 , its the same with this one..its just a lie lie upon lies.

These dull creatures are feeling the hit from Zambians.

  48. Minister of lands must talk about why people are not given land to build houses. Where is the chief gvt spokesman? looks like every Jim can inform the nation at anytime. We need a more senior official to announce whatever allegations he is labouring to expose.

  49. The MMD are now just barking like a village dog. They are not sleeping as they head towards their grave.

Now any one even thieves like Mabenga can issue alarming messages to the public…..a sign that its a dead regime.

  50. Movement for Mad Dogs. MMD Thugs wanted to attack father Bwalya some few days ago whats your take u mabenga….you are the ones agitating for violence…we ar warning u that mmd thugery wont wrk this yr…william banda has given us an hint of how this yr will go…fore warned for armed…..muleya this yr but donchi kubeba

  51. At one time in its early days in GRZ, the MMD got so scared that they might lose to Unip. This was in view of the discontentment among Zambians following the mass redundances as parastatals were either sold off or closed. So FTJ came up with all sorts of tricks, 1) Zero Option 2) Misprision of Treason 3) Qualification to presidency through full Zambian parantage etc. This is coming up again and Iam sure FTJ is not innocent on this one.

  52. There should be a law that restricts people from talking anyhow. Mabenga is accusing Fr. Bwalya of treason. A plot to distabilise the country with $45m. Thats hell lots of money. Where is the intelligence to allow such careless talk in this country kanshi. If such claims are true you arrest people with evidence. Video recordings of the meetings and full survellance recording by intel. Unless Mabenga is now a branch of people from the red brick.

  53. if in Sata’s case they went to those lengths of using ka mumbi, what more this issue which is over 100billion…alelotafye. kale alandilepo…Mabenga be careful, father Bwalya has started suing people…u will be next…..dont buck to much….donchi kubeba

  54. During the 2001 election, Michael Mabenga diverted about K30 million Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for his campaigns and won the election as Member of Parliament. However, the losing Mulobezi Member of Parliament, Sikota Wina successfully petitioned the Supreme Court to annul the election on the basis of alleged malpractices. The Supreme Court ruled that in fact, Mabenga’s diversion of public funds amounted to theft:

“[The misuse of CDF] amounts to theft…the learned judge cannot be faulted for arriving at the conclusion that K29, 800,000 was withdrawn to finance the appellant’s election.”

  56. Chiluba hails from Luapula, just here at Musangu village in Mwense. Whilst Kaunda and Mwanawasa can show the development, which they brought to Luapula, Chiluba only boasts of bringing cell phones,” said Sata mockingly as the crowd burst into laughter.

  57. “When you are in prison, it doesn’t matter your height, a prisoner is a prisoner. Why should Mr Banda choose between a good prisoner and a bad prisoner? The same people who committed the offence of plunder but others are angels,” he said.

Sata told the crowd that President Banda had increased the price of fuel.

“Yesterday Friday, Rupiah Banda increased the price of diesel and petrol so very shortly when you find the bus fare to Mufulira has changed, don’t cry for me, cry for yourselves,” he said.
At the same rally, former Mansa Central MMD member of parliament Kelvin Mwitwa defected to PF.

  58. @ # 40, just eat now with the corrupt and inept MMD, your time of reconning will come.Extremely typical of MMD propaganda, baseless and hollow to anyone with a little intelligence. # 20 lady gaga (the real one), despite being a staunch MMD supporter finds this to be distasteful, this is how MMD is losing grip quickly! # 30 Mungoma, you are right, all pro MMD blogs on this topic of US$45 million are incoherent and I suspect they are suffering from very serious ‘brain stroke’, hence the incoherence, struggling to justify nonsense.
Chi Octopus Paul Bwalya just eat now with the corrupt and inept MMD, your time of reckoning is near!
Zambians need to protest the abuse of the TOZ and Daily mail by the MMD by boycotting to buy the papers for 30 days. This abuse would stop!

  59. History repeats itself. Remember what happened to Bishop Milingo? My fellow Zambians, for those who think Father Bwalya is preaching violence look back into our history and learn from what KK did that made the Catholic to move Bishop Milingo. Father Bwalya is fighting for you poor Zambian people. If he wants he would just sit and watch. He has nothing to lose. Mr. Mabenga, what scares you Fr. Bwalya or God? If you love the people of Zambia produce credible information that Fr. Bwalya is trying to instigate violence. If you have information about the money coming in for the purpose you have mentioned why put it in the open instead of giving that information to detectives and let them do their work. By the way let him transfer the money and I bet the Zambian people are not that stupid.

  60. Remember how they chewed Super Ken’s money when he thought money would buy him votes. If you have nothing to say just work your tail hard and may be the people will have a change of heart. Leave the men and women of God help their people. We have had enough of your fallacies, if you are trapped this is the time to come clean or the law will come get you. God is not a small boy!

  61. Zambia, we still have a long way to go. Some of us are still primitive. I fear of our democracy in this country. Just watch what is happening and very soon we will be wondering why. The painful thing is all these big people in Government are busy sending their families to get educated overseas and if they get ill they seek medical attention outside the country. Guess what? It is the tax payers money and money from the natural resources that they are using like their own money. Look around you, how many street kids do you see everyday? How many children can afford to go to college or University? Where are the parents going to get the money? All the jobs have been given to investors and yet Father Bwalya is fighting for the same people who are trying to kill him. Sad, sad, sad. GOD HELP US!

  62. Kamba Timvere#53 U r sooooo right The story is from one side only so Y shud a rationally sceptical mind believe it. And those who like mystifying conflict like #54 shud stick to Star Wars. The big powers have more to gain from a peaceful Zambia than one in conflict Y put in 45 million when u r already getting ten times that through peaceful ventures like Kansenshi Mines?
