PF councilors arrested

Share

Police on the Copperbelt have arrested two opposition Patriotic Front Councilors at the Chingola Municipal Council for alleged illegal allocation of land.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Martin Malama confirmed the arrest of the two councilors to ZNBC in Kitwe on Tuesday.

Dr. Malama says one of the councilors who is detained at Chingola Central Police station is alleged to have sold a plot to a Chingola resident at fifteen-million-Kwacha but it was later discovered that the plot belonged to someone else.

Another councilor allegedly obtained a motor vehicle valued at fifty-million-Kwacha in exchange for a plot which did not belong to him and had already been developed.

Dr. Malama said police will investigate the two cases professionally.

Recently the ministry of Local Government suspended the Lusaka city council for alleged illegal allocation of plots.

The Anti Corruption Commission -ACC- has since instituted investigations into the matter.

  1. Rubbish, the Police havent moved swiftly in the kafue plots scandal but moving fasgter than Lightenng in PF held councils. A wrong is a wrong but MMD selectively moving on PF areas leaving MMD ones scotfree.

  2. This will be viewed as political in some quarters but I think it is purely criminal and this must be stopped irrespective of the political affiliation of the people involved in this and other crimes. A lot of people have lost money in these scams. What people should be doing is that before you pay for a stolen plot like any other stolen goods verify otherwise you should also be liable if is a stolen plot. This will force people to make an effort of verifying that the land they want to acquire does not belong to anybody. This might reduce this scam which some of us have also almost fallen prey to. If you buy stolen property you should not go scorch free because you are party to the scam. Please verify at ministry of lands and obtain clearance to support you at a later stage.

  3. A wrong its a a wrong but we wonder why the Kafuel council is not being Investigated. We want equal justice, let all be investigated whether MMD or PF. If found wanting jail them.

But what we are seeing is only the PF councils be nvestigated. William Banda has been allocating plots in Lusaka ilegally and nothing the police has done.

Thats why people are saying its political to only target the PF councils. Administer justice farely and equally. All theifing councilers whether MMD or PF should be arrested. But since we live in a country with 2 laws, only the PF will be targeted. RUBBISH INDEED.

  4. Ba councellor banyanya but pa zed. Why is there so much lawlessness in sum of these local authorities kansi? There seems to be no institutions in place to counter this s.tupidity. How can one man be vested with the power to give land as if its sum chiefdom. Such chaps when found guilty should be caged for years.

  5. Is there anything from this story pointing to the “illegal allocation of land”. The issues point more to deception or fraud if the compromised police force is to be believed.

  6. Yes, cage them, We want plots and they take for themselves ba kasai abo shud go to kanfinsa immidiately, BUT dont forget Namulambe and his 7 plots as individual alligation per plot ku Mpongwe .also in line with what Brother Hanto # 6 wrote.these suckers, this is not yo zed only.

  7. Chaps Kafue council has no land scandals, they council still has 450 plots for anyone who wants land am in the process of obtaining one.I have no connections there ,so it is up to you homeless chaps to apply Lusaka has no more land otherwise you will be aPhiri anabwela!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!from cold London and without a house,so start applying now before it is too late,

  8. Yes, i just got a plot in Kafue. No hassles!

I want to start building soon.

Whilst you complain, others are making progress!

This is why we voted MMD in 1991.

Freedom to develop at ones desired pace.

  9. #12 Deja Vu………………………i like your comment on this one(am imprest). Brothers, let us not be biased but condemn what is wrong and praise what is good and give advise where due, be it govt. or opposition. Thanx.
