President Rupiah Banda has warned members of the ruling party to be wary of politicians who are joining the MMD with ulterior motives.
Speaking at rally in Sinda where he went to flag off a bridge construction project yesterday, President Banda said there were people who were joining the ruling party with intentions to destroy it.
He said as president he was committed to seeing the MMD remain a united front during the party convention set for April 5th 2011 at the Mulungushi University in Kabwe.
President Banda urged members of the party to keep the names of their preferred candidates to themselves until the convention in order to avoid divisions within the party.
The President who expressed confidence of the ruling party scooping the general elections said those campaigning for positions should do so peacefully.
The President’s remarks come against the open support that he has received and the endorsement of his vice-president George Kunda by Lusaka Province chairperson William Banda ahead of the election convention in April.
Timely advice to be ignored at MMD’s own peril. Keep the wolves out, whether they are dressed in sheep skin or not. You shall know them by their tongue.

This Govt sucks, The way forward is to push for an uprising now. why wait for the election when the writing is clear on the wall. RB can not win the elections, D Chitala manipulated the results and guess what the axe fall on him. recap RB was losing by 80 000 votes, ecz stopped announcing the results at 1am, resumed after 9am the same day and rb headed for a win. how?
#3 if you read well you notice that the uprisings that you refer to in the Arab world do not have the objective of putting a particular person in power, whereas what you want in Zambia is an uprising to put Sata in power. There is a world of difference between the two, in Zambia we have supporters of PF and supporters of MMD. If today supporters of PF put Sata in power through an uprising, it stands to reason that the following day supporters of MMD will put RB in power. So we can only determine the winner at the forthcoming free and democratic elections, our Arab friends have no such opportunity. As for the rigging nonsense first organise your Pact before you sing the tired old song.
MMD and Rupiah love the concept of democracy but they cannot practice it because it is ponderous. It demands debate and compromises which they don’t like.
Where is the intra party democracy they preach about in MMD?
Rupiah is a typical example of a wolf in a sheep skin. He is still UNIP and always will be UNIP.

#3 and if you want an uprising well start it, who are you waiting for to start it? Don’t be a coward, just start it and see what happens to misguided people like you. Start it and test your popularity, except you will receive the results behind bars. Ask those rebels of Mongu how much popular support they received for their Hitler style attempt at ethnic cleansing cum “uprising”..

Exactly,the Arab protesters want change and indeed for good reasons but seem to be in oblivion who they want to be their next leaders.Look at Egypt,the protesters now want the Military Council led by Field Marshall Tantawi to restore the Cabinet Mubarak put in after he dismissed the earlier one.These same protesters called for the same cabinet to go together with Mubaraka.Likening what is happening in the Arab world to Zambia is illogical.
# 4..you have misunderstood the reasons behind the uprising in the arab world. In Zambia, the unacceptable levels of unemployment, poverty injustice, raping of the constitutional submissions etc do not only affect PF or opposition members alone but transcend across partisan lines.
MMD has failed to govern responsibly for 20yrs now.
The change we seek is not for a particular individual but to make our country far better than it is now.
The Arab formula seeks to address many ill and have responsive govta. we seek the same in Zambia
#5, and where do you place your indefensible Mr Sata? MMD has changed presidents three times since its formation other leaders countless times, what can you say about PF? MMD did not die with the demise of its beloved Levy in 2008, there is no shadow of doubt that Sata will take PF with him to the grave.

As far as I am concerned, RB and his government are doing well, much better than what the alternative leadership which is being proposed can ever do. Now that is my opinion against yours, the winner will be announced in 2011. What you want is a back door entry to State House for Sata, period. If you were not PF, you would not be talking uprisings, PF lingo. Anyway to cut a long story short start the uprising, we shall watch from the grandstand.
PF guys are now getting desperate. They have lost elections 3 times and are now trying to use unethical methods of getting into power. Just go campaign. The reason you guys in PF lose is because you base your campaigns on rhetoric instead of development. People care about development and not the jokes Mr. Sata tells during rallies.

Is MMD electoral violence policies synonymous with the development agenda for the country?
Its sad that at this time, 21st centuary Zambian politics are still based on character assasination, hatred, grid, regionalisation, insults and violence instaed of unity of purpose from ruling party to oppositional parties. Unfortunately enough our president has show undemocratic tendancies in his leadership style underming the principles on which MMD was formed.Arrogant and tyrant behavour wont take him anyway.
I just love election years so much! Fantastic stuff and always reminds me of how lucky I’m to be a Zambian! Never short of something to laugh about! Has somebody reminded Rupiah Banda that what he has just said is exactly what founder members of MMD feel about him? Most long-standing members and founders of MMD feel he was a wolf in sheepskin when he was only recently brought from UNIP to join the MMD by Mwanawasa. Many, including Mike Mulongoti, have since regretted bringing him into MMD because of the colossally disastrous decisions he has made since he became president: acquittal of ka-Chiluba, removal of abuse of office clause, tribalism, selling of Zamtel, windfall tax, illogical appointments, too much travel, intimidation and the list goes on… Where are the voters!!!!!!!!!!

RB is one of those who joined with a hidden motive. Look at where he has now brought the MMD? He has gored many of us true blues out of the party. See who he is bringing in? UNIP has taken over.
Lastly, the message from RB is this, “Don’t join MMD”. If you do, MMD will suspect you to be a person with wrong motives. So, don’t join!
Mr president, you are the one who has spearheaded the destruction of the once democratic MMD by your intolerance of diverse views and your dictatorial actions. MMD founder members are being harassed and hounded out of the party for simply exercising their democratic rights and now we see the famous story of the ‘Camel and his master ‘ being enacted before our eyes. Voting for the current MMD will be a grave mistake.

elections in Arab world are there but the ruling part keeps on winning even if no person voted for them. There is heavy rigging that side. No jokes the arabs can rig elections than Zambia where even the opposition can do better. E.g gadafi during the last election he won by 97% against his rival with 2% and the third 1%. The third part came in as PACT and they got 1%.
The biggest problem we have in Zambia are the Zambian people themselves. Nationals seem to enjoy being last and admiring other Africans and other planetary dwellers.
It buffles me even as I am drinking tea to note that 47 years and we have not figured out how to develop our nation. We all know Kaunda made us dumb by his dictatorship and still *****s on this forum will call him father of the nation. Chiluba liberalized a country with few to non local entreprenuers, sold every compang to foreign hands and we still blame government for our choosing shikapwasha in whatever constituency he is mp. Probably only 20 MPs from MMD UPND and PF can actually articulate what their job description is and we still think the would change Zambia.
The creature known as William Banda where or whom ever unleashed that disaster of a grandfather on our nation. 40% of southern Africa’s water resource is in Zambia and yet there are power blackout yearly. Dambisa moyo is advising CNN on how states in America e.g Wisconsin can lower their debt and our opposition and ruling party ignore what a wonderful resource she is. Esther Phiri is world boxing champion with 10 belts so to say and we still fund the never African cup winning Chipolopolo. I scratched all the live years ago from my head just trying to understand the nation known as Zambezi land.

Then there is the PACT why did those clowns lie to us that they will be united till the very end? Are we going to have a party in Zambia with a heart for the people? I am in a state of vagueness trying to understand Zambian politics.
Mwanawasa was the closest president we ever had to a democrat. Only Zambian president ever to challenge Robert Gabriel Mugabe. Only Zambian president to truly appoint opposition MPs to ministerial positions. Let me end here and ponder.

@ Li Xhan yes indeed there are too many cadres. Your posts Chapwa’s Nine Chale, even the great 1984’s always make me happy we have rational rational Zambians in our midst. It’s when the cadres of PF MMD and UPND starts arguing is when I get frustrated. PF and UPND are yet to give us a mandate on their vision of rule. What’s their manifesto and when was the last time you heard the developmental plans of any of the partys? even a simple but crucial element of a nation agriculture is barely touched in speeches or rallies.

These zambian politicians are fools including Mwanawasa (because he chose to appoint RB, thats the only reason I have against him as it made him look more intelligent compared to that man – probably would do the same!). I mean, how can Rwanda be be better than us? If we go to war against Rwanda we will loose period! What is wrong with the zed leadership? Got vital recourses in diaspora and they do anything to avoid using them! Imagine George Kunda being president after RB? Thats the problem we need to address. Presidential powers are a result of all whats wrong pa zed. Even HH, sata will be corrupted by all the power and hence thats the problem!!
There is only one conclusion for PF…Sata is a stubborn man hence he has lost three election…What will happen when he loses this time will PF claim more rigging or will they admit there candidate is just not what the people want?
The problem is with the system under which we have found ourselves. MMD should have done a good job to bring sanity after UNIP but ka Chiluba became excited with useless things. I get very frustrated when cadres on this site start thinking that the answer lies in HH/SATA/RB etc- mere individuals with flesh. I mean what is so special about these individuals. Actually KK even when he lost touch with reality had strong principles.
Us Zambians need to start to seriously look at the way we govern ourselves. Surely how could MWANAWASA out of millions of Zambians chose RB as vice. Mulongoti is even crying now after shamelessly convincing MMD cadres that BANDA was the man.
Come on people, we have more skilled manpower and resources than Botswana and Rwanda put together but we are in limbo.

President Banda has not hidden his hatred for the POST Newspaper which he calls HOSTILE media, yet the other day he said (through deception) he does not complain (when Sata was framed by the Daily Mail) when he is critised by the media, but when Mulongoti, Shakafuswa e.t.c have been fired just for being interviewed by the POST. Even making an MMD rally at State House just to express his hatred for the POST.
President Banda is not a democrat but a dictator!!! I was surprised to find that even his son HENRY, a graduate, is childish!
