What a sad day for Zambia? My heart-felt condolences to the morning family. We will miss such a galant journalist who executed his duties passionately. May his soul rest in peace.
MHSRIP – this was a true Reporter!
MHSRIP. I remember his news reports from the early ’90’s, after the ousting of UNIP. Very entertaining.
Too bad. People dying so young in Zambia. I think ni uloshi. Condolences to the family
A sad day for journalism in zambia. Mangani was a brilliant journalist.
He will be sadly missed

The passing of 1Mangani Phiri iz very sad. Like Lackson Nthani, Dominic Chimanika and a couple of others, Mangani had the passion for the job he did. I still cherish the nice moments when we had in the drama club at Evelyn Hone College.
Sad indeed, May His Soul Rest in Peace.
Condolences to the bereaved family.& # 1 it is “mourning” NOT “morning”
Too sad, what a loss MHSRIP.
Sorry about the passing on. But what took him?
MHSRIP and the family be consoled of the fact that, he did his best and walked the long jorney to the fullest.
Too bad indeed. My condolences to the family. Mangani Phiri dug deeper than the post in some news areas. Turely Zambian
he was a good work mate and friend MHSRIP.

Sincere condolences to the late Mr.Phiri’s family. He indeed loved to do what he did .
MYSRIP….he was a great jounalist.
So he is the one behind the MMD propaganda on TVZ? Any death will catch us all rest in peace comrade.
LT, should be putting a FILE photo so that you remind the readers how he looked like in case one may have forgotten, like me.
There is better life after this one. In that life, there will be no suffering. Dearth is a very painful thing but it is a thing we have to accept. MHSRIP.
M.Y.S.R.I.P…I think he was bewitched by the PF. PF is full of witches and wizards.
Mhsrip. #20, it is death not dearth.
#21…PF Hater you are right, PF witches killed him!
@21
PF Hater – Be serious- you can be sued under Zambian Laws for accusing some one of being a witch
Too sad for us Zambians epecialy we young genaration. # 19 the eye, you are very much correct LT pleaz it is not too late just put the picture of this gallant man so that many people can see him for the last time because some of us we are very faraway from Lusaka and will not be able to attend his burrial, M.H.S.R.I.P goodbye my brother hope we shall meet again.
I was with him a week ago, and we had a chat. He looked fine and was getting the news ready. He was a brother, a colleague and a friend indeed! I will surely miss him and look forward to meeting him on the other side – hopefully.
Condolences. Too sad. “Mangani Phiri, ZNBC, Lusaka!” Surely those words will be missed.
It is sad for ZNBC and especially family and friends. May God remove your sadness in due course and may his successes shine even more brighter in his death to serve as inspiration to all who will read about him now and in the future!
My deepest condolences to the family..
Was he the the chap that reported on the secret tunnels? MHSRIP even though he never made many friends outside MMD while he was on this side of life.
Msana Wanzili, NO. That was Luckson Nthani who reported on the tunnels.
Its a pity some pple politicize other pple’s grievances…A household name this man had,a giant among news anchors.MHSRIP & may his lovd 1z find peace n comfort in ths tryin tym
Sad. May his soul rest in peace.
My condolences to the mourning family. MHSRIP
My comdolonces to the entire family. The man contributed alot to Broadcasting, he will be missed by many pipo who are keen listners to ZNBC. MHSRIP
#30 The chap who reported first on State House wad from TBN TV at the time FTJ was busking in Self Glory and declared Zambia a Christian Nation to blind us. If at all late Mangani Phiri did report on that it was after TBN. The guy has seen many Good Days dying at 44years he tried. By the way what is the life expectancy for a Zambian?
Luckson Nthani reported on the tunnels. Managni Phiri is renowned for ‘This is Mangani Phiri, Reporting from the graveyard.’ He was short and stout. in 1998, he had a road accident and had a permanent scar on his face. Luckson and Mangani were good badies in the reporting field and were at were point synonymous with inter-change reporting.
Wo wo wo wo, enough! Why don’t you let the dead stay dead without all this hullabaloo about MMD, PF secret tunnelz and the like?
Some memories on the ZNBC reporters at that time, Mangani Phiri, Dominic Chimanika and Lackson Nthani. I was young at the time still in secondary school but enjoyed every bit of there sensessional reporting.
May your Soul Rest in Eternal Peace a Phiri. May the Good Lord console your family in this time of deep sorrow. Deepest Condolences
Life expectancy ya pa Zed awe sure!
Mangani phiri was involved in a serious accident sometime back while he was rushing to ndola to cover indeni which was on fire, the cameraman he was with died on the spot
Rst in Peace Magani. May our good lord welcome you in his holy kingdom
Shocking. Words fail me. Thoughts and Prayers are with the family. For some of us, these incidents mark the passing of an era. It’s amazing how Zambia’s population has grown and yet it feels increasingly lonely for some of us due to the sheer numbers of departed friends. I can’t say much for now. MHSRIP.
I hope you make genuine friends in your next life mate (coz i doubt you will find MMD and the PACT where you are going). I hardly have any memory of the fella because in the late 90s and early 20s during the 3rd term when he made his name on the Zambian scene (by no measure a household name as some of you allude), i had quit watching ZNBC to date. Condolences to the family though.
Great reporter whose skill and ear for news was thwarted by promotions. To think that at what time his name was synonymous with ‘news’ is a marvel. MHSRIP
I was in Mauritius when I heard the very sad news of the passing away of brother Mangani Phiri. RIP in peace bro. You will forever be remembered.
young and gone. mangani mbuya. mysrip
