Former Nchanga Member of Parliament Charles Chimumbwa has called on UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to convince his party to join the MMD.
He said that if Mr. Hichilema hopes to become President one day he needs to partner and work with the able leadership of President Rupiah Banda.
Mr.Chimumbwa has also called on Home Affairs Minister Mhkondo Lungu to summon Colonel Panji Kaunda to explain his statements on violence in the forth coming elections.
Mr. Chimumbwa said there is need for a commission of inquiry to probe Col. Kaunda’s sentiments on violence.
He said this in a statement to ZNBC news in Lusaka.
Mr.Chimumbwa said Colonel Kaunda will be held responsible should there be violence in the country during and after the elections.

HH was seeking to work SATA who is worse than working with MMD. To start with, HH knew PF had no Manifesto, so why was he asking PF to find ways of harmonising the two parties. It does not make any sense. Sata was Chiluba’s right hand man. If chiluba had gone behind the dock during his cases, many things were to come out on Sata.
Cobra forced Levy, Mazoka and many good people desert MMD. Why? Because he was positioning himself for the top job.
The positive thing from all this is that HH has been burnt and learnt the hard way. He was repeatedly warned by his team not to mingle with Sata. He could have used the past 18 months to go and market his image, his party and increase his chances.
Assuming he was not misquoted by the media, then I must say the lack of substance in the comment made by this former Nchanga Member of Parliament Charles Chimumbwa, and the narrow mindedness it reveals about this man is truly shocking. It seems his mind is devoid of issues to do with national development, e.g. is there any added value – synergy- the nation can get from a UPND+MMD alliance? But instead, he is solely focused on the office of the President. Just how brain-dead can one get? I am glad he is now a former MP. We deserve better. But then again, maybe he was misquoted.
It’s also a blessing in disguise for HH. Sata was going to use draconian force and kick out HH or tramp him, if The Pact had gone into power.
MMD are better ofo raising the gear and ensure that they capture a better share of the electorate. Let UPND sort out their own mess and come out of this whole experience stronger. Is HH going to overhaul the whole MMD machinery? And who is going to allow him a chance to do so? Not the current crop of MMD, no ways! Their major preocupation right now is to pocket as much as they can and find ways and means to escape the law. With master dribbler FTJ in the ranks there’s no chance. The best that can happen is for these guys in the pact to subdue all their personal egos and interests and put Zambia first. Otherwise we Zambians must be ready for another jolly ride with RuBanda.

This is a clear confusion amoang MMD members who are now panting to extend their so-called RB as a sole candidate to the MMD presidency to the National elections slated for July or August 2011 — I guess — since pupils in schools will be on break by that time.
