Patriotic Front leader Michael Sata has accused the ruling Movement for Multi party Democracy MMD of panicking ahead of the forthcoming tripartite elections.
The PF leader said the MMD is condemning the parallel vote tabulation (PVT) because they fear losing the general elections to the PF.
Mr. Sata however stated that the party will use PVT in the coming general elections adding that he is ready to be arrested.
The PF leader said there is nothing wrong with using the PVT and dared chief government spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha to arrest him.
Mr. Sata wondered why the MMD have suddenly decided to abolish the PVT when it has always been used during elections.
He told QFM that no law stops a citizen from knowing the preliminary results of elections.

PVT is the way forward and all the opposition parties should make sure they use it for a proper accountability…in my opinion ECZ can no longer be trusted to produce fair electtion results

Go to parliament and get a legislative vote for it to become constitutional act. Otherwise, that is extra-constitutional vanity option devoid of legality. If illegal, it would never deliver your much dreamed for ballot verdict. Mandate is a constitutional issue which is announced by a constitutional electoral body. As long as Zambian is constitutional democracy, ECZ will announce the ballot verdict then give it to CJ who confers the mandate to the winner.
Both the constitutional court and statutory electoral body-ECZ will just rubbish whatever your Kaponyas on the illegal PVT will cheat you with.
There are no shortcut to power but constitutionalism and mandate.

One does not need a mandate from parliament or rupiah to consent to it for PVT to be undertaken.
There is currently no element of illegality with PVT. Its has always been done. therefore, no rules are being changed

Article 76 of the Zambian Constitution mandates ECZ. Therefore, ECZ cannot change the Rules of Engagement. To do so an Act of Legislative has to be raised by the Lawmaking Vehicles. The only body that is “solely mandated by Law” to announce the elections out come is ECZ. And not by any other External-Body, Aliens or NGO….

probably the misunderstanding is emanating from the misconception that PVT will unsurp the powers of ECZ and start announcing results.NO
What is critical here is to safeguard and avoid manipulation of votes after they have been counted and the time ECZ announces them. In the past things have happened in between transmission and time of announcement.
So PVT helps to keep that manoeuvring in check
