North Miami Beach police plan to release more details Monday concerning the arrest of 46-year old Abraham Mpaka. The 16-year-old daughter of the woman who was killed said she was shocked when she heard the news.
“At first I didn’t believe it,” Tatiana Paul said. “I didn’t believe it but then I was elated. I just … I started crying.”
Mpaka, a native of Zambia, is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend Coty Paul, 43, to death on December 26th, 2008. She was found stabbed to death at a friend’s apartment.
Mpaka was featured on the television show “America’s Most Wanted” three times before his arrest. According to police, a woman who read a story about him on the show’s website thought he looked like a friend’s boyfriend. She called the show’s tip line who in turn contacted police.
“Through her we were able to make contact with the FBI in Minnesota,” Detective Tray Lystad said. “He was arrested at a library in Hastings a suburb of Saint Paul without incident.”
Mpaka remains in a Minnesota jail.
Authorities said they have surveillance video of Mpaka purchasing the knife he used to murder her from a Walmart.
“Without a doubt this gentleman is diabolic,” Chief Rafael Hernandez Jr. of the North Miami Beach Police Department said. “A nefarious predator. He’s a predator and we are very, very happy that we got him out of the streets.”
Lystad said Mpaka confessed.
Authorities are trying to have extradited to North Miami Beach.

Clearly this man is from another African country. AMW say he has a Zambian passport-we all know those are available for the right price. Uwamwenso, it’s easy for these criminals to get Zambian passports but hard for a Zambian to aquire one. Coming to think about it it’s hard for a native Zambian to get anything easily in Zambia period.
We know usually Zambian males don’t commit crazy crimes like this, clearly this chap is either congolese or Nigerian. If this man is Zambian, can people who went to the same schools with him come out and confirm that they remember him from school days. I think it’s high time the Zambian government begun investigating such cases as they may lead to big scandals at the passport office. For example, when such crimes as murder, drug trafficking occur, they give our country a bad reputation. The government can through the embassies, investigate if these people are really Zambians. I bet, investigations would reveal they are not Zambians at all. I remember guys I went to secondary school with and one was involved in such crimes, I would confirm that I knew the guy from school days. Investigate these people’s real nationalities.

This story is encouraging and i wont RELAX until DEC investigates how this guy obtianed so easily the passport from Zambia when it is so difficult with Zambians. Therefore, DEC should trace this passport number upto the issuing officer in Lusaka and be arrested. May be this will reduce the rot at passport office. I wont rest until DEC establishes the truth.
