Zambia edged closer to a Fifa ban, while up in Lapland the prospects of Zambian players becoming an endangered species are looking very high.
Today, lines were crossed when government sports watchdog National Sports Council of Zambia and Faz exchanged salvos over how to proceed with the Faz annual general meeting in Kitwe on March 26.
This follows a botched March 26 AGM strategy meeting on Tuesday in Lusaka that NSCZ hoped would bring the Kalusha Bwalya and Andrew Kamanga factions together ahead of the Kitwe congress but , before it could proceed, the Faz president stormed out over the presence of the latter.
“FAZ has always prepared and successfully hosted its past AGMs effectively well without meeting any of its members or meeting the National Sports Council of Zambia, that is a very important point to note,” Faz communications officer Erick Mwanza said at Wednesday’s press briefing at Football house in Lusaka.
“The council has never played any role in administrating the secretariat and AGM of FAZ, anybody can go back to history and check, that is the challenge.”
The NSCZ, who were one of the three stakeholders at the Fifa tripartite meeting in Zurich on December 21,also shot back at Faz over concern that the league will kick off before the AGM.
“We now therefore wish to direct the FAX not to commence the league this weekend until the AGM of March 26 ratifies the fixtures in line with the (Faz) constitution,” the NSCZ said in a statement.
SHAME IN FINLAND
For close to 20 years, Finland has been a favorite European sanctuary for Zambian players giving football refuge from the Zed Saileti and Mordon Malitoli to most recently Francis Kombe and Lawrence Lubinda.
On Tuesday, five Zambian players who included former international striker Nchimunya Mweetwa were detained by Finish police over allegations of match fixing.
Their arrest brings to six Zambian players with Finish teams in custody just two weeks after RoPS striker Christopher Musonda was detained together with a named Asian businessman from Singapore and charged with throwing a match.
Three of those detained are also from RoPS which at one point in the last 10 years had seven Zambians on their books.
The trio together with Mweetwa comprises of former Afrisports and Power Dynamos midfielder Chanda Mwaba and Chileshe Chibwe son of Nkana technical manager Simon “Stone” Chibwe who joined RoPS from Zanama B Rovers in 2005.
Also in detention are the brothers Yobe; Donewell and Dominic of Oulun and HJK Helsinki respectively.
The scandal could also see the close of a chapter for Zambian players in Finland.
What does it say about the current state of Zambia as a whole? Lawless. And who is to blame? That’s a question you need to ask when you vote this year.
Greed and dullness is a problem for most Zambians. I see it everywhere! Most Zambians have no self-respect because of the culture in Zambia where when you steal you are praised and seen as a hero. Now those youngsters have lost their future. That’s it. I have no sympathy.
#2 – Tell that to Wellington Kanshimike.
dominic yobe…just from cheatin on his girlfriend mampi..by impregnating kitwes flavo fm dj tee tee,he is now in custody…foolish man
too bad for zambians in finland.
Kalusha Bwalya should be made FAZ president for life with immediate effect the man has done a lot for Zambian football.
John just because Kalu was a great football player doesn’t make him a good administrator. He is very far from the great Tom Mtine, Teddy Mulonga or even Everisto Kasunga!
This ban is long over due. Imagine the money that Zambia would save our relatives the 40 percent or so that bare the brunt of Zambia’s taxes. As for the crooks fixing matches in FINLAND I simply S.M.H.
Iam now doubting Chifumu Banda as NSCZ Chairman. Its clear he is the one condoning or to be clear supporting the Kamanga camp.
These thieves have now lost it. They think you can steal the way they are used to in Zambia. I bet they even tried to bribe the police. Most of them will have double cases.
They will now feel the pain of poverty. What a shame
Five of those these out of the Six have something in common, wonder what could be?
Could it be that they are from the same village?
all these players are nonentities. we dont need them, let them rot in jail
NSCZ botched up things, Kalusha was right! If this is way football will be run in the Country then we are headed for trouble. I thought NSCZ should take interest in findland saga than trying to fix Kalusha, imagine RB being invited to discuss cabinet matters in the presence of the Cobra!…
Kalusha is right. Thre is only one FAZ. No interim Faz. It is amazing that some media refer to Mr Kamanga and Mr Simataa as belonging to interim FAZ. This is a joke. #13 you are spot-on. Bless you!
Childish behaviour from govt…………they have denied FAZ money to send team to mozmbique re: afcon qualifying match……who are they punishing??? honestly is 2012 very far????
The NSCZ is part of the problem, it is clear that they want Kalu out. Kamanga and Simataa are not FAZ officials why were there invited? Simataa lost the last elections why does he want to go in via the back door? 2012 is not long from now let Kamanga/Simataa and group try their luck them. The Goverment and NSCZ ARE VERY DISAPPOINTING.
Agony of the whole situation is little ones in Zambia are growing up thinking this is all normal. What will it take to get a working and legit sports organization in Zambia?
Why did CAF invite Kamanga and Simata
FD you are cool.Simata/Kamanga are both not seing beyond their shadows. Chifumu Banda /Smart Mwiitwa they are pocking their nose into FAZ and to ensure that Great Kalu is out because they are favouring there Tumbuka friend…. RB must take proactive actions and this very urgent… Kalu will remain Great, whether you want it or not, he has made his name and put the Zambian flag high, even if you remove him from FAZ he will remain Kamanga`s boss., in case you are not aware, Kalu is the head of COSAFA and CAF committee member ! Zambians, lets be level headed. Viva Kalu, Viva FAZ,Viva Zambia….. Maputo here we come.
Let them ban us so we can start over all. Then whole saga stinks. Imagine having RB ruling Zambia from the diasapora.
Let them ban us so we can start over all. The whole saga stinks. Imagine having RB ruling Zambia from the diasapora.
# 19 Lucas M, I wish people can see the wisdom in what you wrote, you are the Man.
Its not FAZ but other sports displines. The problem is having people in positions without bringing desirable results. The sports minister is also toothless and have no crew how to run sports. I was just reading an article about school children complaining about lack of sport infrastractures in the country. The waste is ZAAA where there is a small dictator who bars others to stand for elections. NSCZ allowed this by declaring him a winner on December last. The top man from ZAAA went to Southern Africa Athletics Regional and contested and he was taught a lesson by getting two votes. It is sacking and disappointing. Some cartel is being formed here to maintain power in one hand. Even your praised RB is just doing the same he is going to the MMD convention as an opposed candidate. Rubbish!
Just look at the ZOGAGA people have been there for years without performing instead they are enriching themselves at the cost of children they abuse. Should we take this to the UNO as child abuse?
Kalusha Bwalya is one other person who Zambians cannot rely on he has made some many administrative mistakes which has exposed him. Just think of a the recently cancelled friendly between Kenya and Zambia, the friendly match between Ghana and Zambia where players could not travell to United Kingdom. I wish Godfrey Ucar Chitalu and Alex Chola didnt die Zambians football would have not been what it is today. I am crying and I am sad
FIFA sat with Simata and Co in the presence of Kalu, FiFa directed the Govt through the sports council to make sure that the 26th March AGM is all inclusive, so whats wrong with you Galu bootlikers talking about. The sports council had all the mandate to hold that meeting as per FIFA instruction and the Great Galu behave like a riff raff that he is. and people like #14 who have no idea what Galu has done can sing praises for him. and number 19 why are you are trabalist, running FAZ has nothing to do with tribe
#19 Some of us could not care less whether the national team existed or not. It is just a waste of money. It is a crime when poor sick people have to find K300,000 every three weeks to pay for dialysis for the rest of their lives. When they cannot find the money they fall so sick that they are at death’s door. All this expenditure on football is unplanned. As for the dull grade 7 drop-outs in Finland, what can one say? I see too many Zambians in Europe trying to behave the way they used to behave in Zambia. Unfortunately for them, the authorities here do not tolerate criminal behaviour.
25…tHUNDERBOLT……………Dont expose your ignorance here, but take it somewhere else. I have all the details about Zurich meeting and FIFA never directed that NSCZ should convene a meeting with soccer bankrupts in simattaa and small kamanga. Dont cheat us pls.
FD & Lucas M, why do you support things that do not bring development to Zambian Football. We need good administrators like David Phiri, Teddy Mulonga, Tom Mtine who did wonders for mother Z. Remember even for Kalusha get to europe it had to take David Phiri’ds assisitance. How many player has he helped to get to europe apart from the Mbesuma, Mbola, Matyuka sagas. Look at Abedi pele, Daniel Amokachi and the rest. how many players have they assisted to ge to europe, a lot.
All you siding with NSCZ and haters of the great Kalu are so dimwit losers get a life and let current FAZ handle it’s business till 2012 period.
i wish these just would pause just for a minute and consider how much harm they have all done to the ONLY sport worth talking about in zambia over the last year or so…..IMMEASURABLE…. thats how much. you have an illegal group waging an all out attack on a legal, albeit stubborn body, yes legal, whether competent or not and everyone in the process has lost tract of what we should be doing to improve our game. at the moment i can safely say we are no match for teams like botswana, namibia, zimbabwe…. let me say any team in cosafa
so to avoid further embarrassment, i would like to propose that all soccer loving zambians should come together and petition fifa to ban us for at least 3 years, then we can sort ourselves and put our house in order
common lets get those signatures going!!!!
If anyone says anything in favor of RB/MMD today, I will come and find you wherever you are and kick you so hard between your legs you will start throwing up egg yolks.
Zambia needs change and it will not be in MMD with RB, VJ, Dora, GBM, Liato – ok I need to stop, this line up makes me want to projectile puke
Kalu was right, there is only one FAZ executive,NSCOZ doesn’t seem to know what its supposed to be doing, they are encouraging lawlessness by recognising an illegal committiee. How would anybody feel if you are called to the bosses office in the presence of another job seeker who had applied for
your position?
Chifumu Banda is failing to administer NSCZ,the problem with most people fighting Kalu is that they have a complex problem. Some of them were up there when Kalu was still a player,he became national team coach/vice president and they were still in same positions,he overtook and became FAZ president and they remained behind now he is at CAF and they cannot stand it,they are still at foundation level making same noises.
Jealous down,Kalu has been focused and achieved his dream
Educate footballers, Galu included!
For things to be okey at FAZ, Kalusha should just join MMD and start the shikapwasha way of doing things.
Just join us ba kalu pa nkoloko. Things will be okey.
Sad thing to happen for the players over here if it happened that they are found guilty. The Finnish police says they still have 96 hrs to make a final decision if above named players are to be detained. I feel yes, it is true that corruption were we hail from is rafe but bring such in a place with cameras even in toilets is just another. Hope the best for them and hope they will still have a chance to play in Finland.
# 30,I agree with you.FIFA must suspend Zambia for may be 2 to 3 years so that we can clean up our mess.Zambian football is no longer inspiring.
ZEBIGGY you put it so well. Jealous, envy, akalichoo, Kapupuka shani akali panshi yandi? I must bring this flier down to where I am. But now that the elephants are fighting the grass is about to suffer. We the fans want to watch soccer not the fighting amongst Chifumu Banda FAZ and Kamanga? Once we are banned by FIFA no soccer for us. So we resort to crime and we will be waiting to be hired for political rioting.
John Phiri #5 Dont make me laugh so loudly! Unfortunately #6 Konie, doesnt have your sense of humour
These criminals have been working with NOTORIOUS Singaporean football match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal (Rajamorgan Chelliah) in a series of alleged match-fixing. Since 1983, Wilson Raj has been jailed and fined for offences like housebreaking, theft, forgery, cheating and match-fixing.
Those close to Wilson Raj say “He can sell ice to an Eskimo.”
End of their careers, banned from all football activities and beginning of poverty.

“The council has never played any role in administrating the secretariat and AGM of FAZ, anybody can go back to history and check, that is the challenge.”
THIS CHAP IS A LIAR, WE HAVE HAD INTERIM COMMITTEES IN FAZ APPOINTED BY NSCZ
what has happened to the guys in Finland is unfortunate but can happen to anyone. Tabalamikata fyee!!!

Super Eagles will play against the Chipolopolo of Zambia in an International friendly on March 29.
The game will be played at the Abuja national stadium two days after the Eagles’ 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Aminu Maigari said foreign-based professionals will be used to prosecute the tie.
“You know March 29 is a Fifa free day and we have decided to utilize every opportunity we have in that respect.
“We actually have been in talks with three football federations; Zambia, Cameroun and Benin Republic but I can confirm that with the way talks have…
Noway for selfish players €40,000.00 pocketed. Some players may receive bribes.. Thats one reason why the national team is performing badly. Hopeful they get a good punishment even banning them from playing is much appreciated. No cheaters are intertained inhere. The law will take its course.
thinking aloud, our national team poor performance could it not be because of match fixing…just thinking.
these guys if they are found guilty, must be banned for life. this is very sad, how can you surely sell your team, betraying the trust of your coach. this is the bad attitude that most Zedian have, of not being loyal to employers, stealing from them, forgetting that its him/her providing you income, he/she goes bankruptcy your income is gone too and you back on street again unemployed. its sad indeed
for me i dont knw or seen what G Kalu as done for Zed as an administrator. all i have read are scandals and mismanagement resulting in voted colleagues resigning
What is clear in this case is that FIFA has only recognised ONE FAZ and no interim stupidity. This Simata matako can confuse everybody, he started a long time ago in case some people do not understand the zambia soccer history… he is a looser. The NSCZ is politically influenced and politicians in Zambia are not serious; I criticise Kalu on many issues, even though he has been a marvel to watch, but this time I give him credit for standing on his guard. We may remove Kalu from office but please do not hand over zambian soccer to the claws of the devil.
Kalu is the man, the Simaata and kamanga led faction is bullshit, I hate them. For you guys who want FIFA to ban us just change your favorite sport from football to golf. Leave FAZ alone, you are people destroying the works of FAZ
