Faz Reschedules League Kickoff

Share

Faz has succumbed to pressure for the league to be postponed until after its annual general meeting on March 26 in Kitwe.

Faz vice president Boniface Mwamelo who is also chairman of the premier league organizing committee said the league will now kickoff on April 2 instead of this weekend March 19.

“The Football Association of Zambia wants to advise all Super League teams that the league games for Week One will be played on April 2,” Mwamelo said.

“FAZ wishes to place on record that the commencement of the league which was previously tied in with the annual general meeting was removed as an agenda item by the FAZ council almost eight years ago under an item that was called Approval of Fixtures and League Standings.

“This was done to enable the league run as an administrative instrument with no tie-ins to the AGM.In fact this has been the case for the last six years or so where the league has always started prior to the AGM.”

The decision comes in the wake of the National Sports Council of Zambia’s statement on Wednesday they will be forced to act if FAZ does not heed the directive to delay the season kickoff until after the AGM.

  1. Do you think Kamanga and Simata will better run football in Zambia? Just a thought> Look at RSA, Dr. Nkosa has been in soccer for a long time and has been running Orlando Pirates successfully. I wished Simata had a successfull Makumbi Stars? Yaba

  2. No matter how bad a lumpen is, as long as he is a Luapulan descended janjaweed, you will always find his tribally bigoted kin and kith rooting for him. You recall the third term and how Chiluba should have been allowed to finish his programs, which nobody knew about? Kalusha literally lives in South Africa and Zambian football is in total disarray and yet some people can stand here and claim “Great Kalu forever?” I mean, maybe there is something in the Bangweulu lake these people have swallowed that makes them this blind to reality. With fellow citizens prone to such misguided and opportunistic stances, no wonder Zambia has been Zaireanized. Sad indeed.

  3. These guys in the football ‘pact’ are like little spoilt kids. Iamgine when they came back from zurich, it was simata and his “boss” ka-manga who went on the loose in the media. And they have launched unceasing attacks on FAZ using their friends in the media who unfortunately some have now lost their jobs.
What happens when these bunch of sour grapes fail to gunner the required two thirds? The danger is you have to contend with Kalu upto 2012 and you are not playing the game wisely.

When Kalu survives, you will have him for the next term.

The NSCZ has been immature because they also want revenge for being ignored and are now playing to the gallery. Why convene another meeting when they failed the first time? Is it not what led to Zurich?

    Deal with Kalu as incumbent

  4. #3 Thunderbolt, ndiwe satana iwe mambala. Thus the lunguage for evil people. All the best for “Great Kalu”.

  5. Kalu has shown time and time again that he cannot engage in meaningful dialogue, hence, the bully tactics that have now come to the fore. There are only two ways in which this situation can change. Either he changes and listens to other people or he paves way for someone else. At the end of the day it is Zambian football that is affected. Football is the only sport that is doing well in Zambia and we should do everything to ensure that this remains so.

  6. National Sports Council is a disgraced instutution no two ways about it. Our focus is on the ball. We have allowed these nicompoops their deluded no confidence vote on the agenda. Sensing defeat in the offing, they run with their tales in between their legs to Ted Mulonga who has a bone to chew with the great one. Ted instructs NCZ to sh.it on themselves and they do it. March 26 is gonna come and go and Great Kalu will still be at the helm.

  7. Kamanga and Simaata are not fit to run FAZ, its a pity the Sports Council wants to mislead the nation by recognising the Kamanga faction even after the matter was laid to rest in Zurich. On March 26 we shall sort out this Kamanga chap, the game must not suffer because of chaps with no history and thriving on jealousy.Viva Great Kalu, u will triumph.

  8. Even if change could come to FAZ, not through failed simataa with his K-stars and Armature kamanga who has no experience in soccer administration.

  9. e problem yachalo chesu. Why come up with a constitution when u r not ready to follow it? People spent time and tax payers money to come up with that paper which Kalu and his team has been ignoring. The kamanga team might not be the best to lead Zambian football affairs, however there is a constitution to follow. There is nothing wrong with that.

  10. This Kamanga chap has no credible track record in soccer that one can scrutinize. At least with Kalu, we know his weaknesses and strength that we can work with. The devil I know is better than one that I do not know!
