MMD and PF cadres cadres yesterday morning clashed, leaving some of them injured.
The Kanyama township residential area around Garden House Hotel, the venue of the PF conference, is an MMD stronghold.
The violence is said to have been triggered by some PF cadres who went to an MMD post and started removing the ruling party’s flags.
Kanyama MMD youth chairperson William Daka said that this infuriated his members, who resisted the attempt by the PF members to rip the MMD flags off the post.
The clash raged for about three hours, disrupting the flow of traffic on the Mumbwa Road until the police restored calm.
Lusaka Province officer commanding Mulekeni Zulu said the police dispersed the rival cadres.
University Teaching Hospital sources said three people were treated for injuries and that by press time two of them had been discharged.
what the source of this news, you are lieing kanyama is not MMD strong hold. ka william banda took people that side to cause confusion, actually 2 MMD cadres died i hope they have learnt a lesson coz ka william keve kali unhurt.
whats wrong us Zambians kansi how can you choose chibuka ya faivi hundred over life. Ka William this year utekanye manigi iwe.
LT Editor,
What happened to my posting?
William Banda must be caged, he is causing instability in the country
Why is LT telling lies. What was MMD doing where the PF was holding its meeting. What are you talking about when you say its an MMD stronghold. LT you are a disgrace
LT, be objective, what do you mean when you say kanyama is a strong hold for mmd? PF was holding its peaciful provincial conference there, but your thugs with their commanda, William Banda as usual, what do you expect? We will decide who to vote for this year but of course NOT mmd.
This violence is not good politics. This is very sad news. I have been supporting the MMD and I really think they should do something about Mr. William Banda’s style of politics. That style of politics is a PF/Sata thing and not an MMD thing.
Mr. William Banda is tarnishing the name of the MMD and should be disciplined or expelled. We cannot have the image and name of the party go down because of one individual.
So panji Kaunda was right after all we r ready who knew Libya would raise against it’s great leader we will fight fire with fire
Capitalist #7, can MMD keep away from PF activities and term your William Banda or take him back to Nyasaland. Why come near PF meetings when the law does not allow this?
LT Editor,
Thanks for your response. By the way, there are too many Indian Adverts on your site from this side, do they pay you for those adverts, or you have no means of filtering them out? Just a Zambian Patriotic Concern.
They forget that PF unlike their little sister UPND are capable of defending themselves and match them pound for pound. Sad lives were lost but that should save them well as a lesson that they got no monopoly to violence.
Capitalist
Thank God you finally coming round, you beginning to think with your head. Senior Citizen and that lunatic called Asst chief bootlicker were a terrible influence on you, its nice they are no more on the blog.
LT u should b impartial, bcoz u are now promoting biasness. It actually the uncivilised mind of tekele which brought de crushing of innocent PF MEMBERS.
I condemn all forms of violence no matter who the perpetrators are, this political hooliganism should have no place in our politics. We are one family of Zambians, let us settle “our differences” on the ballot paper.
#7 Capitalist and #12 Msana wanzili, having said the above, I have not seen any reference to William Banda in the press reports that I have seen.
“Kanyama MMD youth chairperson William DAKA said that this infuriated his members, who resisted the attempt by the PF members to rip the MMD flags off the post”.
How does William BANDA, MMD Provincial Chairman, come into the picture? Has he been mistakenly confused with the WILLIAM DAKA quoted in this story?
#14 you could have said all that without including my name. What was the point?
#14 are you telling me that you cant see clear lies in this story? if you cant, then sorry we cant help you but if you can, then go and read the true story on the post online! good day!
On “The Kanyama township residential [or Ward] area around Garden House Hotel, the venue of the PF conference, is an MMD stronghold… violence is said to have been triggered by some PF cadres who went to an MMD post and started removing the ruling party’s flags” it is surprising that MMD claims to have that area as its stronghold when it is clear that the MP for Kanyama Constituency is from PF, unless I am mistaken.
However, I am glad that PF’s ill-timed conference to confuse the mighty UPND’s Card Renewal Exercise failed to disturb the UPND’s activity.
Be blest all and vote for UPND Team especiall Mr 2011 HH to form GRZ Administration so that the UPND can correct the mess serpent Sata MC left us Zambians with when he was in GRZ Administration with Mr FJT Chiluba…
@ #14 H.H. Sata
The story in the Post PF vuvuzela confirms that William Banda may have been involved. That is the reason I brought him up.
Mmds ,you are dirty. State media you are also dirty. Anyway, you are just compaigning for Pf and Sata. Even upnd has joined in the same filthy type of politics .lntellectuals, you are not. When you are not being objective just like crookered mmd.
Twisted story, I know you can do better than this.
We will everyday resist and stand strong against any attempts by MMD, William Banda and RB to intimidate us. the Revolution is on and there is no going back. We have to vote enmasse to convincingly uproot MMD out of power, i know that even my relatives in the rural areas of Eastern, Lusaka Rural, Copperbelt Rural, Western, central and North western have learnt lessons for voting for MMD all these years and are now willing to join the rest of the nation in sending MMD to chingwele cementary
MMD SHUD NOT TAKE US FOR A RIDE……YOU WILL RIP WHAT U ARE PLANTING…#7 JUST PUT YOUR POINT ACROSS AND DONT BRING SATA IN THIS…WHAT HAS SATA DONE TO YOU FOR U TO BE SO HURTIFUL? REMEMBER IN ALL THE URBAN AREAS, THE OPPOSITION IS MORE POWERFUL AND IF WE WANTED WE CAN MANHANDLE THESE MMD THUGS…..WILLIAM BANDA IS CONFIRMING TO US THAT ZAMBAI WE EXPERIENCE BLOOD SHED THIS YR BCOZ EVEN BEFOR CAMPAIGNS BEGIN LIVES AR BEING LOST…LET SHIKAPWASHA COME ON HIS USELESS ZNBC AND SAY AGAIN THAT THERE WONT BE BLOODSHED IF THE POLICE AR SO COMPROMISED AS WELL.
LT were did you get the news from. were you there or you got this from znbc news room. the truth is mmd cadres are the ones who went to camp near garden motel to block sata. i didnt get this from post news paper but from a radio phoenix reporter who was at the seen. even the police spokeswoman who was interviewed by znbc news contradicted wht they had read. mind you they are many sources of information these days, so its better you dont say anthing thn try to mislead the masses. PLEASE
LT Editor,
This is what you call moderation, what was wrong with my posting? Just because I said the “SU>P<I<D BOMA NI BOMA SLOGAN" of the MMD Thugs? You don't moderate the many insults that are posted here, and the dehumanising comments against opposition political leaders? The right to speach is for everyone, whether one holds a different viewpoint to yours or the powers that be. Or was it the pasting of the link to the Post Online? But you guys all you do is copy and paste what Daily Mail, ZNBC, QFM and Times write. I'm very disappointed with you. No wonder journalism in Zambia is still centuries behind from modern realities.
Can someone please find a neutral Blog. LT is dissappointing. They have lowered their standards its unbelievable
#17 Capitalist, I have difficulties believing the vuvuzela, especially where there is a possibility of mistaking the William DAKA in this story on LT for William BANDA. There must be a picture of William Banda in the Post, they cannot miss such an opportunity. If not, the vuvuzela Post may be concocting the link to William Banda. I have noted that the Sunday Times of Zambia also mentions William Banda, but could be a case of mistaken identity. LT please help us identify which William was involved.
If William Banda was involved I still stand by my condemnation of whoever perpetrates political violence.
#15 msana wanzili, maybe the reason is that you are a popular blogger! Anyway, the reason is that your blog @12 links you to Capitalist whose comment refers to William Banda.
Why do u write ifya mafi
LET THEM KILL EACH OTHER IT IS OKAY. AFTER ALL ZAMBIANS SAY THAT EDUCATION IS NOT IMPORTANT FOR LEADERSHIP. I HAVE NO SYMPATHY, LET THEM SLAUGHTER EACH OTHER, THE ILLITERATES TOGTHER WITH THEIR ILLITERATE LEADERS LIKE WILLIAM BANDA. ZAMBIA’S POPULATION IGROWING TOO FAST. WE NEED MORE ILLITERATES TO KILL EACH OTHER.
IT IS SAD THAT SERIOUS MATTER WHICH REQUIRE TRUTHFULL REPORTING AR BEING TWISTED. BA LT U AR SO USELESS AND U AR AN MMD PROPAGANDER BLOG………..THATS VIVA PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
THIS BLOG IS USELESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS AND BIASED ………MMD CAUSED CONFUSION IN KANYAMA WE WERE THERE
#31 This blog cannot be biased. It only relects what people type. The story may be inacurrate, but the comments are just people’s opinions any case.
WILLIAM BANDA WILL BE DEAD BY 30TH JUNE……
# 33 I understand your dislike with a passion for William banda. This man thinks violence is a solution. But Yes he is calling on violence to visit him as well. We shall take it to him IF and when when BUT If he continues to be a conduit of MMD instigated violence.
WE are re-deporting him where Chiluba took him to. Nyasaland. Maybe Chiluba was right after all.
The debate is slowly shifting from the issue of political violence perpetrated by both parties to whether william was in the vicinity or not and how much kaponyas hate him.In my opinion the ancient reptile and william are woven of the same cloth.what suprises me is how the ancient one managed to restrain himself from taking part in the street fight.anyway we should all realise that violence will never solve anything.let these people learn to solve things with there mouths not nizakumenya every time they are challenged
