VICE-PRESIDENT George Kunda has described Colonel Panji Kaunda as an embarrassment to the country’s defence forces for advocating violence ahead of this year’s tripartite elections.
The Vice-President said when he launched the MMD Copperbelt card renewal exercise in Kitwe on March 22 that Col Kaunda is an embarrassment and a bad example to the armed forces.
“He is a trained soldier and is supposed to be a disciplined professional but Panji is an embarrassment to our defence forces. How can he advocate violence?” Mr Kunda asked.
He said Government has restrained itself because Col Kaunda comes from a dignified family.

“Up to now, we owe it to KK (Dr Kenneth Kaunda), the father of this nation, who gave us free education. Dr Kaunda has taught us about non-violence and this is the name and reputation that Panji Kaunda is destroying,” Mr Kunda said.
He said Col Kaunda is advocating violence because he is broke. “We are not responsible for that if he (Col Kaunda) is broke. He must work hard,” Mr Kunda said.
He said it is unfortunate that Col Kaunda is associating with Mr Sata, who promotes homosexuality and violence. Mr Kunda warned Col Kaunda that Government will take him on if he continues on the same path.

This leadership style is so 70s I feel embarassed. Those days of fear-mongering are gone. People are able to counter-check whatever they are told, unlike in the past when governments had the preserve of access and information. Kunda must wake up to that fact and shape up. Much as Panji talked about violence, he talked about it as something he would wish for to make problems in zambia so that an opportunity may arise as the case is in Egypt. The opposition know quite well of MMD’s popularity in all wards in Zambia, hence they are most likely to win this year’s elections. So they would rather create an environment where the people would reject the election results even when they would have lost clean and fairly so that there is trouble. The reason why our news are this one said, and another said is because we have no real projects to discuss. And therefore, whilst the verbiage continues, the suffering of marginalisd groups also continues especially in rural areas. For this kind of parocialism to change, the country requires selfless leaders who will ensure that our respources are applied to the most impact. Charles Milupi is one such leaders, and he is not the only one. The Kaunda’ family has Shambalakale Farm in Chinsali, SindaMisale and the Mansion in Malambo built for Mama Betty by GRZ. Panji was given Lupenga Trading Company that sold North Korean donated industrial equipment like Lathe Machines, Boring, Welders etc then Chibote Group gave him Meridian Motors the Daitshu Motor Company Franchise and lots of stock of new cars. Chiluba gave him two Land Cruisers for his use when he claimed that he had been robbed of his car. Then he was given a Transport company with several Mercedes Benz trucks and trailers. He was given a second hand clothes company when he failed to make these other companies work. Today he is living in the Mansion built for his father at State Lodge by the MMD government. Not Kanyama, Bauleni or Mandevu.
How many Zambian jobs did he create with all these free Govt gifts? Why can’t he go to Shambalakale and farm or Malambo or he can revive Lupenga Trading or Sindamisale Farm or the second hand clothes business and try to employ some youths. The question Panji should be asking himself is how many Poor Zambians have benefitted from Governments as he has done and how many he has helped out with these free government gifts?
