THE United Party for National Development (UPND) has predicted that Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata will lose terribly in this year’s general elections and the loss will mark the end of Mr Sata’s political career.
UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma said the PF are no match to the MMD in the elections.
“The PF has no capacity on its own to dislodge the MMD from power. The PF has not expanded anywhere; its strongholds are the same. It is not in Central Province, North-Western Province and Southern Province,” Mr Kakoma said.
He said this in an interview on March 27 when he reacted to a story in the Sunday Post in which UPND member Colonel Panji Kaunda insisted that he will support Mr Sata for the presidency despite his (Col. Kaunda’s) continued stay in the UPND.
Mr Kakoma said Mr Sata’s loss will also mark the end of Col Kaunda’s stay in politics. He said the UPND will be stronger in the general elections than the PF because a lot of PF members who do not like Mr Sata’s leadership style are defecting to the UPND.
“Several PF members whose toes have been stepped on by Mr Sata and PF secretary-general Winter Kabimba are leaving the PF. Even those who vowed not to support the UPND because of its association with the PF are returning to the party,” he said.
Mr Kakoma said the political landscape in Zambia has changed dramatically and the UPND is getting stronger through alliances it is entering into with other opposition political parties, like the All Peoples’ Congress (APC).
Recently, the PF made an appeal to opposition political parties to help it dislodge the MMD but the plea has not borne any fruit so far.
Mr Kakoma said Mr Sata is losing a lot of members including those from the church who are against his stance on some issues, including gay rights.
He said since the pact is dead, the PF should forget about forming government.

Mr Kakoma accused Mr Sata of failing the pact by fielding candidates in all the 150 constituencies, without the consent of its partner then, the UPND.
He said Col. Kaunda should stop maligning UPND president HakaindeHichilema and that he (Col Kaunda) should know that as a military person, it does not help for one to be in one party and support another.
Mr Kakoma said it would be helpful for Col. Kaunda, whom he accused of being Mr Sata’s campaign manager, to come out in the open and state that he is a member of the PF.
“It’s bad politics to pretend. What’s so difficult about him coming out in the open to say he’s PF? He should be clear so that we know who is with us and who’s not,” he said.
Mr Kakoma said the UPND is disappointed with Col. Kaunda over his attacks against Mr Hichilema and advised him to reflect on his political activities.

as we embark on the one zambia one nation path Tongas must understand they dont need a regional party to rule and i see that time is now if only those that claim not to be tribal can relinguish their power. More deplore Sata’s support for gays
MORE People have joined individuals and organisations that have condemned Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata’s advocacy for homosexuality.
The Church, the opposition, a traditional leader, a parliamentarian and a youths have all condemned Mr Sata for advocating what was against the teachings of The Bible.
General overseer of the Life Gospel Fellowship Ministries International Bishop Joseph Kazhila said Mr Sata should be condemned for his stance aimed at legalising and implementation of gay rights in Zambia, contrary to the contents of the Constitution and the Laws, which forbid same- sex acts.
“This is so confusing, appalling and disgusting for a prominent politician like Mr Sata to utter such shameful and disgraceful…

Bishop Kazhila wondered who would love to see his children, grandchildren, parents or relatives playing same-sex affairs in this country. He said if gay rights were legal in the Western world, it does not make it right for Zambia…
He said Zambians should thank God because it was only through His love and mercy for Zambia that such machinations had been exposed before the elections.
Bishop Kazhila said excuses which appeared in the Post Newspaper of Thursday March 17, 2011 by the PF secretary general Wynter Kabimba and Mr Sata’s were a mere scapegoat for the embarrassment the PF leader had brought onto himself and his party.
And New Generation Party (NGP) president Humphrey Siulapwa has advised Zambian youths against voting for Mr Sata because he was advocating for homosexuality.
Mr Siulapwa said homosexuality was against the Zambian laws and that it was satanic.

Zambia told would have been beyond the status of Middle income country had KK been prudent enough with resourece utilization. This acquittal destroyed the carreer of one distinguished Chief Justice Silungwe who after passing this flawed judgement in favour of your family even resigned. Even in marriage if an abused person demands for a divorce it does not mean he or she is the one who has caused that marriage to fail. In lastly but not the least please Mr. Panji just continue practising your politics without disparaging nor issuing unsubstatieted claim or derogatory statement of character assassibnation of any individual like HH who has never attacked you. Keep yourself relevant to PF and just concerntrate on delivering Eastern Province to PF if you will manage that is. Sata is more troubled today than never before so please Panji help him to get even a member of parliament in Eastern Province if at all UNIP is still active in the province and that you are so influential.

When you form pacts merely to remove the encumbet govt, the result is that you lose the reason why people should vote for you.

Why should be my country ZAMBIA with all these natural resources be ruled by a grade 6. SATA went only upto standard 4. We do not want a repeat of what happened with chiluba. KK told us that Chiluba CAN not be president…..he is just grade 7. For us in MMD, all we have to do is take photos of RB opening a hospital here and a school there. A new road here and a new shopping mall there. We are already in anticipation of the bumper harvest which will come just in time for our dear RB to announce the next election date. PF Zambia’s gays party is under extreme pressure, says Hichilema
The United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has said Patriotic Front (PF) Zambia’s gays leader Michael Sata and his supporters are now under extreme pressure to clear the mess surrounding their party following its alleged passion and promise to defend and protect the rights of homosexuals and lesbians in an event that miracously the PF wins this year’s elections.
Mr. Hichilema said in an interview that it was unfair for the PF and what he termed as their favourite newspaper to continue attacking the UPND because it resolved to differ with them over their homosexuality stance. He said he was an African and a Christian, who did not believe in homosexuality and that his party should not be unfairly attacked for making its position clear on the matter.
Mr. Hichilema, who also accused some sections of the media for openly supporting the PF and neglecting the rest of the opposition parties said, the same media was now misleading the public on the demise of the electoral pact between his party and the PF.
Mr. Hichilema said those who wanted to misinform the public on issues which led to the demise of the UPND-PF Pact and his position on some national issues which came out afterwards, were just wasting their time.“Mr. Sata should come out in the open and tell Zambians the truth about his party’s support for homosexuality because a lot of people are aware of the interview he gave to the foreign media in which he suggested that he supported gay rights.
The UPND should not be blamed for the mess which needs to be cleared by Mr. Sata and his favourite newspaper,” he said. He said it was not a secret that The Post Newspaper and Kafulafuta Member of Parliament (MP) George Mpombo had embarked on a campaign suggesting that the UPND was working in collaboration with President Banda to discredit Sata.

4 months from now, Sata will be resting under a tree in Chitulika Village, and that is if he thought of building a shelter where to say his head.
