National Restoration Party (NAREP) Secretary General John Phiri has alleged that people in Munali constituency wants change of representative following alleged failure of area Member of Parliament (MP) to deliver development.
Mr. Phiri has accused incumbent Munali Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament (MP) of failing to deliver development to the constituents.
He has also refuted claims by Mrs. Phiri that NAREP is sponsoring students at the University of Zambia (UNZA) to de-campaign her ahead of this years’ general elections.
Mr. Phiri told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the youths and people of Munali are not happy with the developments achieved in the area during the reign of Mrs. Phiri.
He said the people are disappointed with PF and Mrs. Phiri of failing to address the problem of roads, health posts and other needs of the community.
Mr. Phiri who has also shown interest in contesting the Munali Parliamentary seat under NAREP in this year’s elections has also
doubted the popularity of PF in the area.
He said people will vote for the capability of individuals and not for the party.
He has since advised Mrs. Phiri to appreciate the little she has done for the constituency rather than complain of her failing popularity.
Mr. Phiri has also cautioned people to scrutinise candidates who will be vying for public office in this year’s general elections.
He said people should vote for persons who can deliver and not the political party they represent.
Press reports indicate that Mrs Phiri has since accused those called for new representation in Munali as having been sponsored.

What do you expect when PF is a branch of MMD a party which does not deliver, or rather which has not delivered since 1991. If the stem does not deliver, how about the branches which just happened to be there with the help of the stem. Sata the leader of PF ruled MMD with his BOss Chiluba for 10 solid years, he even wanted his Boss Chiluba to continue ruling despite him not delivering anything, by him Sata sponsoring the Third term. What do you expect from a man who is full of rhetoric and not actions. Thank God people of Zambia are now aware of who this man is and his double standards of speaking louder against others. He has been in politics since 1963, has been a governor of Lusaka, but has not built any single hospital or delivered anything tangible.

This is what will happen even when they will get to power, they do not deliver and it is not just Mumbi, but the whole PF party. What has Guy Scot done to Lusaka central nothing, drainages blocking, honestly what do you expect from people who have been in politics since 1963, expecting them to deliver at old age is demanding too much from them. I do not see what people mean by change from Rupiah to Sata, as both have been in UNIP, MMD and are still in politics to date. PF is a branch of MMD, hence pf is MMD as most of those plunderers including Sata are in PF.
On point John Phiri – The Patriotic Front were given an opportunity to exhibit their potential by voting for them at local government level, they have squandered the opportunity and instead run down the councils to such a miserable state. I am glad the electorate now look carefully at their candidates and will not vote for personalities but rather respond to proposals for sound policy that represent progress. Good luck John Phiri and when the people of Munali vote you in, do not forget your obligation to them….

John and Mumbi Phiri should not be fighting over Munala consituency as though they are dealing with lito kids. Sevice to the electrotes is voluntary and if Mumbi has not done enough then its time for any with an agenda based on issues to contest for the seat. Its unfortunate that Munali is seeing little development yet its supposed be centre all mother of activities. Voting for party names is long gone but capable personalities.
