Briefcase maize traders are reported to be buying maize at half the government recommended price in Keembe area of Chibombo district.
Government announced K65,000 as the recommended price of maize for 50 kilogramme for the current crop marketing season.
A local farmer, Stephen Chamwe told MUVI TV news that the traders have subjected the villagers to meagre prices at their disadvantage.
Mr. Chamwe complained that he is selling his maize at a loss simply because he has no alternative market for the crop.
