Take a break, callers advise Sata

CALLERS to Radio Christian Voice’s Chat Back programme yesterday questioned the health of Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata, who developed a serious hiccup during a phone-in programme.

Mr Sata, who sounded low during the one-hour talk show, when asked by a Mr Muchindu of Lusaka about his state of heath responded: “I think I am fine.”

“Your supporters are cruel because they have continued to encourage you to go on even when your health is deteriorating,” Mr Muchindu said.

He said it was clear that the opposition leader was not well from the way he was sounding on the radio.

Another caller also only identified as Bright said it was clear that the opposition leader was not well because his breath was not that of one who was enjoying good health. He urged Mr Sata to instead take a break and attend to his health.

A caller who identified himself as Eddie said: “I can hear from your voice that you are not well. It is important to take a rest so that you look after your health. We shall pray for your quick recovery.”

A woman who identified herself as Bwalya wished the PF leader quick recovery as it was evident that he was not too well.

Some callers, however, encouraged the opposition leader to soldier on as he was the only “messiah” for the country. However, Mr Sata accused some people of having sponsored stories on his health status even on the Internet.

He said the illness talk was started by the same group and that the Times of Zambia and Zambia Daily Mail allegedly had picked it up from there. “To some people I was supposed to have died in 2009, but it did not happen,” he said.

Asked about the failure of the pact with the United Party for National Development (UPND), Mr Sata said the UPND leadership was not sincere on their membership to the opposition alliance. He said to date his party had not yet received correspondence on why UPND pulled out of the pact.

Mr Sata said the problem of the UPND was that it had been hijacked by a leader who had no political background. “There are two people in Zambia who came from nowhere and started leading political parties, so it is difficult to run a joint venture,” he said.

Mr Sata said if elected in the September 20, 2011 elections, his party would divide Northern Province because it was too vast. He also said his party would create employment opportunities for the youth and that there was need for political parties to disclose their source of funding.

    • I heard the entire interview myself. The first thing I noticed was the PF leader’s shortness of breath and the way he was talking. He was sounding a bit like late LPM. I hope the “cabbage” thingy hasn’t come to do a round on the man. Get well soon, Mr Sata. U might be our opponent but we want u alive and healthy.

  7. You see the one who stopped STAND UP FOR ZAMBIA made a serious mistake. The people of Zambia will end up voting for someone who is walking with the help of a walking stick. Chanda Chimba 3 should have continued with his programme so that we are able to see these people we are going to vote for. There you are, Mr Fred Mmembe.

    • Chanda Chimba was sponsored and was very biased only against one party. Does it mean that other political leaders have never made any mistake. As Zambians lets us be factual not biased. If he was standing for Zambia, he should have done the same to all political parties’ leaders then we could have swallowed his pills. Thank who ever advised him to stop, it was too much. We do not want such kind of propagander in our peaceful nation. Zambia is not for one party, but is a multiparty participatory democracy.

    • PF Sources; Chanda chimba hasn’t stopped, they stopped the stand up zambia and not chanda chimba; hence, he has registered another paper called “News of Our Time” he is calling it unexpected. He has done so far two editions and the current one being “Hooligan Sata horrifies Voters as he disrupts ECZ briefing”. Sometimes i say the Law is blind, it couldn’t find a way to ban his mind but the publication, wow!

  8. The same political experience has brought this problem in the country on which SATA was part of it for 47 years. There is nowhere in the world to learn to become a president. If there is anybody who does not qualify to be a president is SATA himself because of is limited knowledge of issues.

  10. The fact remains, Sata is sick. Who has carried the story is not the issue here. This is the same Sata who made the late President, Levy P. Mwanawasa illness a public issue. The MMD also started telling lies that Levy was fine. What happened?

    Now that Sata is sick, some people want us to gloss over the issue and chant Donchi Kubeba! No, as a Presidential Candidate, Sata’s health is everyone’s concern. I know that Sata mocked Levy for being ill. I will not sink that low to rejoice in Sata’s sickness. I personally wish him well. No one should wish someone else death. I get disgusted with people who rejoice in other people’s misfortunes and woes.

  21. # 9, you must understand that LPM was a Zambian property as President. People had invested interests in his healthy and such MMC government keeping quiet about him was a problem. Sata is not. He is public figure, but he is not our President as Levy was. MMD was hiding that which cannot be hidden. Sata’s life at the moment is of no consequence to Zambians. His family in fact can tell you to go to hell, God forbid if something happened to him today, but not the way Levy died, in office. Sata is not on your payroll, hope you know that. Levy was.

    Coming to Times of Zambia, one wonders if Bwendo Mulengela is still alive and running Times of Zambia. Even in his death, it seems he is still controlling this paper.

Like it or not, none among the presidential candidates can be equaled to Sata. It is the very reason they want him dead. It true he is old. Can anybody tell me where Sata is or was admitted yesterday? Making an issue out of a hiccup is not only nonsense, it also shows how sick somebody is in the head.   89. #71 PERCY – grow up! Is Micheal Sata your father? If he died today due to job stress would you even remember to attend his funeral? Think about his family not your selfish ends. His family needs him more than you want to pretend on this blog-site. When will you cadres ever learn to think intelligently. If Sata pushes himself too hard without resting there is a chance he could collapse and die even before the elections. As a country, we don’t have the money for another Presidential funeral just yet. Don’t be f u c k i n s t u p i d – let the man rest… What are the other members of his party doing anyway. They are just quiet like monkeys high on something. The problem with PF is that it is full of empty heads, from the vice-president to cadres like Percy!!

  90. Sata is sick,no doubt about it.Now,his selfishly foolish supporters are too blind and dull to see that the man needs treatment.The reason is whilst Sata is physically sick,they are seriously sick in the heads.

  99. from the time i stated my grade one to date i only know that in are que there is no.1 and the last no.in a competttion there is first and second positions,and mostly the second talks about the first position than the other way.talking about number say 50 is time wasting expecialy if it is done by no.1 .if all wat matters in this election is our current presdo then talking about populer is time wasting but if the current is fearing one who is popula then expect him to talk about that some person because he is number one.help me to understand?

    • Bembas are amazing people. Though am Bemba, I hate the way Bembas think. They are the most tribal grouping in Zambia. They now are pushing old man Sata even though they know he is Welensky and can not fit in modrern political world. His tome is over just as RB. If HH was Bemba, they will say “mulukeni umwana ateke”. If he was Sata they will say “bamudala nabakota”. Foolish, home boys change your mindset. Vote HH and they Chipimo or Mutati or Lubinda. We know the best candiate is HH and he will U turn our country to prosperity and compare with the likes of Botswana and Namibia. As of now we are a laiughing stock in the region

  105. It is normal for a man who is over 70 years old in the third world country(a poor country like zambia) to have poor health. He has actually lived far way the life expectance of that country. WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE FOR HIM? Was KK right to say stupid zambians? Be WISE, VOTE FOR THE YOUNG AND ENERGETIC!
