President Banda says he is saddened by the opposition Patriotic Front’s move to pinch late president Levy Mwanawasa’s son, Patrick from the party his father left.

Mr Banda says Patrick Mwanawasa is as good as his own nephew who he would have loved to see he stayed in the MMD, the party that his late father served passionately.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Kafulafuta constituency on Monday, Mr Banda said he did not have much to say about Patrick but that the young man is welcome to join the MMD, the party his father belonged to.

Mr Banda says Patrick will always be part of the MMD family even after the elections next month.

And former Information minister Newstead Zimba has urged the people of Kafulafuta not to vote for Patrick but instead advised him to make peace with the MMD.

Mr Zimba says president Banda is the best choice for the Zambian people in the forthcoming elections.

He says president Banda cannot be compared to the other candidates who are aspiring for the presidency in the September 20 polls.

And former vice president Enock Kavindele says president Rupiah Banda has done well in the three years he has served as head of state.

Mr Kavindele says president Banda’s works have put Zambia on the world map, leading to many investors expressing willingness to come and invest in the country.

  1. Lol is this offer genuine? Pinch? Didnt Patrick have a choice?? Dont go Patrick. Test the waters with PF this year and then make the decision to join MMD next year.

  2. This is rubbish Patrick just go ahead and win kafulafuta what is that foreigner chap talking about. PF is the best party for you and come september 20 we win you will be ok. Others say you could have gone to school how many graduates does MMD have itself. Thus nonsense even pipo with lower education can lead pipo. Ba Zimba has come back from the grave. The man never wanted to come back from USA when he was recalled but opted to be a driver at the embassy but finally he came home. He has no money to look after that Thandiwe of his (age). He is like Banda married to a very young lady

  3. oh please..RB is just extending an olive branch because once PF is done with him they will spit him out..and he will have no where to go…

  4. What?? After the WHOLE MMD Machinery attacked him so much??? RBish is nowing feeling the heat it seems!! Patrick mwaiche, shani ichi mwenso bena RBish???

  5. Imwe! napapa, kwena politics are sweet, even the dead are rising, Mr. Newstead Zimba? kwena bupuba ubu eeeee

  6. A timely counsel indeed to a young and un-bridled mind! An old adage says: “Never say to an old spring, ‘I will never drink out of you again'”. Indeed, political migration may have its heartaches and sober realities. Retracing one’s steps is not always a bad idea: “Kunyima u ndonde, kuso uyu unyi baa. Kuso kuli mako male” – Dear glorious past come to my rescue because future is here about to slay me. Future is characterized by deep and non- navigable chasms!

  7. RB is so scared and anticipates shame to see young patrick scoope kafulafuta by a landslided. Dont Kubeba mwaiche just go for it. Mwanya ba fikalaaaa!!!!!

  8. This boy is a Jimmy Kelly look-alike……with no brains though…..how can he join PF with all the insults his father received from Sata. He was lured into PF because he was promised to be adopted for Kafulafuta. Wrong move yourng man, the canoe has holes and is sinking. You need a ship to ride the waves and a canoe will be consumed.

  9. The problem with RB is when he has dinner at his state house, he thinks even Patrick has eaten something. Just give the young man whatever you can. You want him to come to state house and ask for it?

  10. pls dont take rantings of a man who is about to lose power seriously. RB alesabaila.patrick is old enough to know what he is doing.let RB advise his sons in public if he has any wisdom to share.

  11. Rupiah UNIP never complained when Mwanawasa (to use your word) pinched from UNIP.
As you are suggesting to Patrick that he will always be MMD, it just goes to confirm that you are just sitting on the fence with MMD as you will always be UNIP

  12. MMD through their vuvuzela who speak under the influence of alcohol Dollar Slit said Patrick was not a member of MMD and had never been so what are you telling us uncle bwezani when you say Patrick is welcome to REJOIN the party his father belonged to?Our memories are not short stop playing with us and talk sense.VIVA PATRICK_VIVA PF_ VIVA SATA_PABWATOOOO!

  13. Ka patrick, if your father was alive, he was going to have a feat…bigger than the one that killed him. You are the worst traitor to your father, no morals what so ever.

  14. What a waste of National time talking about Patrick. The boy was just influenced by his always drunken friends at Lazymans bar in Chilenje. He has never worked anywhere & never done any business apart from begging for money from Maureen.Who does not know Patrick’s insolvency at Northmead flats were he is renting a flat with benefits fom dads benefits.

  15. Is it true that when you are in opposition then you are wrong? What does MMD stand for. I don’t believe this, that only MMD members are better than other political members. That’s why in Zambia one time some people were saying it is only the president who is able to lead, others not. Who ever comes can lead. Who knows may be better than the leaders we have now. Dont’ live like the emperor and the new suit. When a leader is wrong and you pretend he is not wrong even when you see that he is wrong then you are a bootleaker, kachepa or vuvuzela. Let people have the choice. If you over do it they may say, why is he over doing it, he wants to hide something like was the case in one of the Late presidedents who wanted the third term then people suspected that he may be hiding something.

  16. This Buffoon RB has a brain of a snail if you said these words immediately after Patrick “insulted” you..you would have come out the bigger wiser man, but since you have no leadership qualities whatsoever and hungry for votes you’ll stoop so low as to even commission a dug out pit latrine!!

  17. Ndipo mumakamba kunya pa zed. As lonh as he is paying rent thus fine. Where the money comes from is non of your business.

  18. The advice is appropriate. Patrick needs mentoring and he is not going to find that in PF. As usual PF cadres are blowing hot and cold. And when things go wrong in their lives they are unable to learn and make positive changes. Guess what? They always have somebody else to blame: politicians and corruption. Same response all the time.

Patrick has no track record of any sort and if he really wishes to achieve something in life he needs to be with people that are not out to use him. He has got himself in a pickle by joining PF.

Politics has to be about serving people and I truly hope Patrick is not being opportunistic or allowed his ego to get the better of him.

  19. Patrick is old enough to choose which party he wants to belong to. If he wanted MMD, he could have remained there fulu stop!

  20. Patrick listen to the bigma he is rite.I know Sata i work with him very closely he will not give u anything just go back to your father’s party and give him respect.

  21. please assist me to understand the qualifications for one to be a member of Parliament in Zambia. what qualifications does this boy called patrick mwanawasa have?

  22. Webo mwanike Patrick, nkunyumfwa shito kwamba bamanene. Chilenje chilamba aai ‘Kana kanamusha kafwita kuchishyalilo’. Kosa ku chipani cha katalika baiso totukutambula amansa obilo. Swebo namata.

  23. Chi Number # 3 walitumpa, that’s why you even copied my name. How can you wish my uncle dead? I wish LT enforced patents rights to names.

  24. Yakunyonkola ma voti wayamba kunyengelela ati abwelele kulibe muzaciona cino caka.

  25. It’s a pity MMD never foresaw this coming, now the harsh realities of defeat are settling in. This young boy can never be corrupted in any way by MMD. It is the same corruption that prompted him to defect to PF, so how then can the MMD suggest that he goes back to them? Wise up MMD your corruption and pomposity is surely catching up with you guys. I think the boy is cool with his new found haven.

  26. Patrick is dead wood, maybe even dead weed.He cant help either Mmd or Pf.lets focus on the real issues and the campaign.

  27. SHUT UP ZIMBA..THATS WHY YOU MARRIED YOUR OWN DAUGHTER’S FRIEND..JUST IMAGINE..YOU DAUGHTER COMES WITH A FRIEND AND YOU MAKE A MOVE…YOUR WIFE EVEN BURNT A GRZ OFFICIAL VEHICLE…..GO PATRICK GO…YOU CAN RE-JOIN MMD IN THE MOST UNLIKELY EVENT THAT YOU LOSE..OTHERWISE GO FOR IT MY BOY AND ENJOY THE LOOT FROM PARLIAMENT…EFYO IYA PA ZED!!!

  28. The boy is unfocused.Michael Sata insulted his father to the extent of calling him “cabbage” insane” and other unprintables but he is fooled to join them.he will be shocked when they-pf loses…

  29. Mr Rbish, people have a right of association so just leave the young guy patrick alone he made his  choice to belong to the party he wanted. He definately foresaw problems in Mmd thats why he left

  30. Imwe, is Newstead Zimba still alive? or we had two Newstead Zimbas, one who is dead and another one still alive? Ba Kavindele, after baba tinya kuli Dora, now he is a good old man kuli ba RB. Shame, no principles. Patrick, you are on the right path, mwaiche, you are our future President of Zambia. Mark my words.

  31. Its better for him to be with Rupiah and his clique than with his uncle whether in kafulafuta or katuba who will teach him nothing but slaughtering women.

  32. LT bloggers, what on earth are u arguing about. RB just said Patrick is free to rejoin the MMD if he wants 2. So what is the problem? He has not insulted the boy.

I can hear Irene Mambilima annoucing the outcome of the votes…Ruphiah Bwezani Banda 2,250,000(45%)votes, Sata Micheal C. 1,850,000 votes(35%)..the rest of the opposition(20%) votes. kekekekekekekekekekekkekekeke…………………………………or is it chechwechwecwhechwechwechwechwe……..

  33. That Afro chillingly takes me back to 1991 when we genuinely needed change…can this guy lose it! Too many masqueraders around!
