Former vice president Enoch Kavindele has said that his support for President Rupiah Banda in next month’s polls is not blinded by the contract to construct the North Western Rail Line. Mr Kavindele said that his support is based on the fact that he understood the vision of President Banda in enhancing the economic development of the country and would do what was necessary to ensure that he retained the presidency.
The former vice president is on the campaign team of President Banda ahead of the elections next month but some political opponents have accused him of being compromised after being given a contract to construct the North Western Rail Line.
Mr Kavindele said he could not be compromised by anything and would not be derailed in his support for President Banda because he believed that the MMD candidate had a vision to develop the country than any other contestant.
“I cannot be compromised by anyone and my support and campaign for Rupiah Banda is based on the understanding that he has a vision to develop this country.
Mr Kavindele further said that the contracts that the people are talking about was given to him by late president Levy Mwanawasa.
“When the current Government tried to terminate the rail contract, I took it to court and won, so the contracts have nothing to do with my support for President Banda.” he said.
Mr Kavindele noted that President Banda had made significant achievements in the past three years that he had been in office and believed that Zambia could further achieve economic gains if he was given another opportunity to rule the country.

Mr Kavindele has said that the opposition Patriotic Front (PF) was looking for an excuse for the imminent loss in next month’s polls by coming up with spurious accusations and unnecessary allegations about the electoral process.
He noted that because the opposition PF had realized that they had slim chances of winning the polls, they had resorted to unnecessary allegations and accusations in a bid to use them as an excuse once they lose the polls.
[Times of Zambia]
mwandi kavindele batasha icho wamwene, imbwa shimo shine when the contract was terminated they were up against the goverment spewing a lot of ruuubish, but now you have your contract to build the rail line again chabipa. panyo pa muntu
hahahaha very funny Enock
When are you starting the constraction of the railway
Kavindele admits in this article that the late president LPM gave him the contract for the rail line.
That is itself smacks of corruption that an entire head of state should be involved in the tender procedure.
Only cronies are thus assured of good business.
A good anti graft body would have basis to investigate this further.
Enock,we all know you man, you’re so compromised you scared the wheels will come off this shit when Bwezani goes so hence your support for him. I for one is a person you can not fool my man..
I cant comprehend what this man is defending. Does it mean that the late Presido single handedly awarded EK a contract to construct the line of rail and later on canceled the contract???
Who’s fooling who. The contrat would be paid by the goverment of the day. If you are in bad books Bwana kaonde how to does work start and who pays You ??? Old fashioned politicains like this jerk Kavindele are annoying sorry !
Hey, We Mbuzi, spare my tribe Kaonde. This man is not Kaonde, but Luchazi from Kabompo. And dont bring in the issue of tribe here!!!!
Kavindele you are the inconsistent politician I have ever come across, But this has erased what remained of your pilitical career
Is it you to erase his political career?relax you guy will soon go silent for good.
#4 Donqueen
I agree with you that LPM corruptly gave Kavindele that contract . People tend to think that Mwanawasa was a clean. The Guy was infact not as clean as people want to make us believe. LPM was equally corrupt as tabulated below
1) It was LPM who corruptly gave the Mines Airlines ro the POST and Nchito brothers.
2) It was LPM who allowed Zambian Airways to corruptly not pay to National Airport
3) It was LPM who allowed Zambian Airways to secure unguaranteed loans from public institutions
3) It was LPM who introduced the culture of ignoring Auditors Report on abuse of funds
4) It was LPM who allowed his minister nephew to abuse women at Motel
5) It was LPM who refused to return the 150 vehicles corruptly obtained by MMD in compaigns
Can others add to the list
It was LPM that promoted tribalism by making us believe that Lambas and Lenjes need more jobs in Zesco, OP, Foreign Service than other tribes !
Enock, why do you want to lose the respect that pipo of zambia have given you? the man you are surpoting in your own knoledge has taken our country to its laest levels of integrity. if you are to convince us please a million times provide good reasons for surporting him. you have every thing that you need to win the contract under normal circustances and its something you want to achieve for th pipo of north western. please lobie for this contract with integrity. we love you and please give us the the respect.
Did you give us the reason why you support Pa Fwaka?that’s his choice period.
Maybe the fool can explain why to-date the MMD has no record of him paying back the R82,000 he collected from TST oil company, a case tried by MMD NEC for which he was removed as Veep.HE is the same guy who bounced his MMD nomination cheque. What a guy
Enock Kavindele is a narrow minded person whose thinking is warpped. just a few short months ago this same MMD Government revoked his license to construct the same rail Line project. In the fore front of this was Chi Dora Siliya and ka George Kunda, the very same fellows he is now in bed with. He must think we are really stupid to tell us his support for Rupiah is not centred on his the rail project…
Mr Kavindele is shameless. He thinks we are that daft that we cant see through his bootlicking antics. If he was of the canine family we could have seen the longest swag of a tail.Your record of opportunism never cease to amuse.Tough luck for you.Your should have gone beyond the 1km streach rather than waste your time with campaigns because you project will be revisited together with among others like Zamtel.
of course not Enoch, you are right, take us for retards…
as Chiluba…
kafupi was cleared in exchange for his support for RB…
MMD leaders are only puppets who only get crumbs while rupiah makes a pig of himself with bribes…
but the clean sweep is going to come…
I hail from North Western province. I am so ashamed that Kavindele hails from there also. This man is an embarrasment to the people of North Western. Need I say more?
Hey @#7,
Mbuzi, spare my tribe Kaonde. This man is not Kaonde, but Luchazi from Kabompo. And dont bring in the issue of tribe here!!!!
What an embarrasment.Shame on you Kavindele.
Things speak for themselves Ba Kav, We’re not kids!
kavindele is a man of honour and he is supporting a true Zambian that is ready to give zambia a better future..RB 2011..lets all vote RB 2011
Please leave kavindele alone bambuli. Kavindele is not kaonde but Luchazi. Kavindele will finish off PF in kabompo, zambezi, mufumbwe, kasempa, solwezi, chavuma if at all it exists there.
Any way why support a losing team? Go where there is food. Mwanya.
Enock Kavindele is simply guilty!!!!
Oh please Enock Percy Kavindele give us a break with your loose mouth.A few months ago Dollar Yasila was on your @ss denouncing your person and bitterness because of the same contract.Kavindele cant even win a ward seat in Kabompo because of his love for money.
Tell these retards Enock. The Past tabloid borrowed money in a thieving manner with their god father Mwanawasa and they never talked about it.
Truly muntu ali shupa being an opinion leader is so different from voting! What is Bob Sichinga doing with Sata going round telling people not to vote for RB? Has he lost it or what? So lets mind what we speak of leaders, yes no one is always right! Despite the reason being the rail-line construction or whatever. Let him just be with what he is thinking is right. I’m sure he has so much experience.
But RB has my vote!
kavindele is just hungry and has decided to bootlick, if u knew the old kav u would nt talk, ask people who knew woodgate holding s before u talk, this is the end of that man, he was the zed donald trump. not scrounging for change by been a fake campaign manager.
While I see nothing wrong him suporting RB, I just dont like the way he fails to justify his actions without messing himself up unecessarily. Kavindele is a free citizen who can suport any candidate of his choice. But in the process, he drags himself through so much mud! I know what he intended to say was that he won the contract before RB’s time……..But myy goodness!
This geezer has a brain the size of a pin head! This license was withdrawn cos of a lack of seriousness …he went crying to Bwezani and said a lot of bad things about MMD and its leader when nothing happened after weeping at state house. The license was given back when Bwezani was looking for supporters for re election. Now Enock is singing praises about Bwezani…..U don’t need a rocket scientist to figure this one out. The sad thing is that ten years from now the railway line will still be unfinished because EK is a serious joker!
Kavindele, you are the most unstable, unreliable and compromised politician alive in Zambia today. Not long ago you were criticizing rupiah & his govt. and this only changed once you got your rail contract.
The only vision rupiah has for Zambia which you are supporting is a blurred one, hence ordering containers as hospital.
We all know that you are just paying back a political favour from rupiah, stop the hypocrisy please!!
At the back of his mind, he knows that his support for RB is coz of the same issue in question.
Time will catch up with you Enock.
Kavindele will get a shock of his life— becoz Rupiah Banda will never give the license to construct the railway line.
The Bible talks about the folly of leaning on a reed. The reed breaks and injures the hand of the one leaning on it! That is the fate of anyone who relies on Enock Kavindele in political matters. He is completely unreliable.
How can this man; a former Vice president of a country like Zambia do such a thing to us? How can Kafindele support Bwesani Lupiya; who he knows very well that he is a foreigner? I keep repeating myself that these pipo we are supporting and shilding, are well known crooks with track records of such and will one day run away (because they have somewhere to go) where as we, Zambians, have only Zambia. What will happen then if this country burns and is destroyed? Take these warnings seriously…
He is a Sakala with no political staminer
#32 Chumbu Munshululwa: The campaign to get RB disqualified on the basis that he is a foreigner is the epitome of tribalism and segregation. PF has tried vehemently to make this a key campaign issue. Unfortunately, PF’s petitions have only fallen on deaf ears. For the majority of Zambians tribalism and segregation is a dead issue. Former president Kenneth Kaunda is known for the slogan: “One Zambia, One Nation.” Why can’t you, at least for now, stay away from preaching tribalims and segregation? Why would you insist that RB is a foreigner?
pf has lost 70% surpport on the copperbeltn and lusaka
ukose sakala…ni dont kubeba…continue dreaming
you wish
Ikandulwa, can you stand in Britain? ????????????????????????????
Enock Kavindele has the right to support a candidate of his choice. People expected him to support a buffon. If he did, all this issue of him being comprised would not have arisen. The railway project is something that is going to provide employment to thousands of Zambians.Even some of the people attacking him and/or their children will one day work for this rail line. Its good to see a Zambian embark on a project that will help his country men and women. The buffon you are supporting has not employed anyone. All he knows is to line his pocket.Give him the talked about 90 days he will loot everything. Kavindele soldier on……….!
Kavindele is the most enterprising Zambian there is.none of you arm chair/keyboard critics have ever even dreamed of constructing a road let alone a railway line anywhere is Zambia. This man is a visionary.Let him build that railway line and decongest those bad roads full of trucks.I doubt your Sata would even dream of doing 1/3 of what Kavindele is capable of.
I know you can moderate my comment; and as you moderate, that poor woman’s suffering goes on like we could not have done something about it.
even when a zambian is awarded a contract the opposition is upset..what do u want>?
Adhere to tender laws, Kavindele urges Rupiah’s sons By George Chellah Thu 05 Nov. 2009, 04:01 CAT
FORMER Republican vice-president Enoch Kavindele yesterday urged President Rupiah Banda’s sons to adhere to tender laws as failure to do that will haunt them in future.
Reacting to President Banda’s appeal for him to leave his children alone, Kavindele said he meant well when he advised the President to keep away his children from business deals.
Kavindele said he could not stop talking about President Banda’s children when they were involved in public procurement.
“All we are saying is that we want them to go through a proper process so that even when their father has long left State House they can walk with their heads tall,” Kavindele said.
“I have known Rupiah’s children since they were toddlers and it gives me immense pleasure to see them succeeding. But the nature of public procurement is that they just have to do things correctly otherwise these things will come and haunt them in future.”
Kavindele said President Banda did not have the right to disregard existing laws.
“The President should understand that though he has the power to do pretty much as he pleases, he doesn’t necessarily have the right to disregard existing laws. The public procurement of everything to government requires the adherence of tender procedures,” Kavindele said.
“Anything outside the tender procedure is a breach of the law and we are advising him to follow the law because in future when he is no longer in State House somebody may want to know why there was a procurement without tender laws being adhered to.”
On the North-Western railway project, Kavindele said he was not happy with the treatment that President Banda’s government had accorded him.
“It has taken me many years to conceive the idea of the railway line in North-Western Province. Just when I have started the construction, they withdraw the licence. Equally, I was given the authority to develop the Kafue Lower Hydro project. Now I hear that it’s being given to another group.
I am particularly upset that the President himself could direct the Supreme Court to rule against me over Vodacom,” Kavindele said. “This has nothing to do with my objection to his children’s involvement in several procurement.”
@#34 Ikandulwa, RB has failed to prove this parentage issue. Without taking any sides, RB we all know him and it’s common knowledge that he has worked in Govt for many years, the problem here is not PF but the Constitution! For selfish reasons we changed it and barred someone we all know to contest elections in 1996 and now it’s haunting us! What RB is doing now is ignoring that part of the constitution from my understanding which is very sad and a very bad precedent especially that it happened again in 2008 and no one blew his cover. Thanks to Milton Phiri. We do not need this kind of leadership, it’s too dangerous way too dangerous….
#31 Mungoma, you have hit the nail on the head. Kavindele is unreliable. Remember how he withdrew at the last minute from challenging KK for the UNIP presidency? Remember how he abandoned his own party that he formed to join the MMD in 1992 0r there abouts? I wonder what Chiluba saw in this guy to deserve the post of republican vice-president. Anyway Kavindele has the right, in a democracy, to support the presidential candidate of his choice, but he should learn to have a spine.
@38 Big Dee, you have been too modest in your posting. The truth is that none of these criticising Kavindele have ‘CONSTRUCTED A PATH’ . A road or rail line is too much for them!
EPK ignore the kaponyas, why should you cling to a rotten party spewing maggots/worms?A party founded on a cobra/devil/satan?a party that espouses all that is evil? a party that celebrates gay orgies in darkness?
kavindele has a right to support RB for what ever reason he wishes to,those are some of his rights as a citizen! vote RB chwe chwe chwe chwe chwe
baletubepaika…..basakala nyongo aba ba pompwe
You PF cadres leave Enock to support whoever he would like to support. You would have not been saying what you’re saying if he was supporting the Cobra.
kavindile is not blinded by the contract if anything it has opened his eyes and sharpened his thieving skills to strike while the iron is still hot.
Baaaa Kaaaviiindeleeee! Iyo mwandi! You have no choice but to support RB. Agony is what happens if he loses! But I am sure in PF we are decent people. We will ensure that your business interests are protected and that there are more opportunities for you to even develop further! You are a business man – you dont need to be corrupted!
Could some of you stop those foul words and inteliigently cast your votes for a better Zambia? Revisit your comments after the winner is sworn in and see if your views were that visionary. Vote For one who you feel will do the best for Zambia. God help Zambia not to be lead by thieves anymore.
# 54 shon Jacobs, I agree with you that most of the comments are based on self preservation than being visionaries for the betterment of all Zambians. MMD and clonies are currently thieving beyond anyones’ imagination and they would rather continue being ruled by a criminal regime than a strict, hard working and visionary leader. We the civil servants who are buying a bag of mealie meal at ZmK50,000 i.e. US $10 when we earn K1,200,000 i.e. US$ 240 when the food basket for a family of 6 people is K1,680,000 i.e. US$336 and these figures do not include rentals, accommodation and electricity tarrifs will be voting out Rupiah this year and if Kavindeles’ contract was gotten honourably he need not worry, he will do his business! VIVA CHANGE OF GOVT. VIVA PF & Michael Chilufya Sata!
RB is just a tourist president coz he is always fying out of the country using the people’s funds.i have schooled in Zambia for 4 years but when it comes to leadership it feels better if the late Mwanawasa could still be there leading.all i want to urge Zambians is to carry a peaceful and to avoid chaos elections.better choose a person who can sacrifice his/her life for the sake of the safety of the people of country.GOD bless the people of Zambia

Stop putting blame on EK, every Zambian has a right to join which ever political party he wants, why are you not blaming George Mpombo, Silvia Masebo and others. They too have a right to belong to where they are. With Kavindele, RB is assured to getting North Western Province. We need a rail line in order to save the road infrustracture. You messed up on your own, we told you to unit as a pact, but becoz of selfishness between Sata & HH, you have lost it KUPALA.
Dis man is a fool, whu is fooling whu? He thinks dat we easily 4get? Anyway iam dispointed wit Enock kanitundika ka lupiya. Eastern power ni don’t kubeba
Ba Kavindle not long ago you told Banda that him and his sons were running Zambia like a family bussiness, what has changed now? Time will tell.
People can you see just how corrupt Zambia has become? Mwanawasa gave Kavindele a contract. Since when do Presidents give out contracts? The MMD is the most rotten ruling party we have had. We should never repeat this kind of rule!!
Oh sorry MMD thanks for not posting my comments, anyway i was just passing throught and thought that i could drop you a piece of my thinking. it only exites me to know that you gotten the massege whether you choose to publish it or not. tuth is SATA is winning and you Dickson Jere soon you will be arrested together with your Dora siliya.
All leadership is GOD given let us not kill each other. Who ever you are suporting will bring about God chosen presindent. Remember GOD is not moved by your emotions
Kavindele is entitled to do what ever he needs to earn those millions of dollars. He is a business man. If voting for RB is the risk you have to take to further your business prospects then go ahead. Even GBM is in it for the money. If Sata wins the elections you will see how GBM will become governments’ major supplier. This is the life those of us who are employees will never understand. It aint easy being rich and staying rich especially in Africa.
Patrick Mwanawasa JR saw through this spineless wimp and said it the way it should be. You have been compromised Mr EK. Thats why you have never answered patrick back. And to patrick i Commend you or silencing your critics the way you did especially Rupiah Bwezanzi Banda (Sugar Daddy) by telling him off over marrying his “grand daughter” who happens to be your agemate and happens to advise even big nosed Shikapwashsa. I wonder where we are headed as Zambians. God save us from Ourselves!
