The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has called on presidential candidates in the September 20 polls to be prepared to concede defeat.

ZCTU General Secretary Roy Mwaba says the republican constitution provides that there can only be one head of state at a time.

Mr. Mwaba says workers in the country want calm and peace to prevail before, during and after the general elections.

And Mr Mwaba has advised workers across the country against voting for politicians who have a tendency of making empty promises.

He says workers should not use their emotions when voting, but exercise sobriety and elect leaders who are practical.

Mr. Mwaba was speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka this morning.

He also says workers want whoever will win the polls to strengthened labour laws, broaden the tax base and enhance social dialogue.

Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi has said that her party will accept and respect the outcome of next Tuesday’s election results as the will of the people.

Ms. Nawakwi said that the results will determine who the people want because they are the ones with a final say on who they want to lead them.

And Veteran Politician Vernon Mwaanga has challenged all political parties taking part in the September 20 general elections to openly declare that they will peacefully accept the results as announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Mr Mwaanga said that all politicians must accept the certified results by ECZ because there can only be one winner after the elections.

He said that all Zambians should embrace a democratic culture where winners embrace losers with magnanimity for the sake of peace and unity in the country.

Mr Mwaanga was speaking during a campaign rally in Chivuna in Pemba Constituency in Southern Province.

Mr Mwaanga and the MMD campaign team have held similar meetings in Kalomo central, Mapatizya, Mbabala, Bweengwa , Magoye, Mazabuka Central and Sinazongwe among others.

And Mr Mwaanga says there are positive signs that the people of Southern province are beginning to want to work and be part of the ruling MMD.

  1. If the advise ws coming from some clean person, not a drug peddler and rig master, i would accept it. I urge all pf sympathisers and cadres to sharpen their machettes, and other weapons in readiness to fight for their president’s rights. Watch out the rigging in areas VJ has just visited. Be ready to fight guys. We should not let our country go to the dogs

    • Look at this fool preaching violence from the safety of his PC in the States, you *****s have never even seen violence in your lifetimes and you talk of it as if its a trip to the mall. Go ask your friends from Sierra Leone there in the States and they will tell you.

  2. # 1,
Surely as the sun rises from east and settles in the West, those machetes will take leave PF a headless chicken with Sata executed with his own distributed machetes. To that his body may be riddled with bullets and dumped on the sea the Osama way to deny a Shrine to PF thugs that will ever survive. Be rest assured Kabimba, Frank Bwalya, Fred M;membe, George Mpombo, Mike Mulongoti, Derrick Chitala, Mangani Phiri, Bob Sichinga and Mark Chona stocking and distributing these machetes will be microscopically shadowed and summariry end-up into headless chickens.

  3. Iwe ka Roy Mwaba what the hell are you talking about? Today you are driving a posh car from fake allowances you give yourselves with that Hakaumba and today you want to pretend as if you care for the workers as Union. Its not long ago when you were wearing pata patas as secretary general of Zanut now you want to brag that have a heart for the workers. When we send you to negotiate for better conditions for us you just go there to be corrupted. If anything come next week you and your corrupt MMD you are going. A FOOL thats what you are. Just SHUT UP! Imwe naimwe ba Mwanga ama arvs nayamipesha amano? Since when did you become an adviser to general citizenry? If you cherish peace as you claim why is it that people associate you with rigging.

  4. # 1,

Your Sata is not worth killing a fellow Zambian for unless you are talking in your dreams. If anything, there are enough “taser guns, water canolized battle front vehicles to sedat and jum thuggery for many hours which Police, Patramilitary, Soldiers, ZNS, Airforce and Commandoes being deployed in proxisimity will use against thugs. Be warned that if you are a case of a heart attack, you may not survive if found in this environment.

  5. GRAVEST BLANDER SATA HAS MADE IS TO THREATEN ZAMBIANS WITH MURDER IF THEY DON’T VOTE HIM IN ON TUESDAY. YOU CANNOT CONVERT A ZAMBIAN WITH SUCH CRIMINAL THREAT.

  6. Sata to kiss dust again – RB

PRESIDENT Banda says Mr Sata is headed for a fourth defeat in the September 20 presidential election.Speaking when he addressed a mammoth rally in Nyimba, President Banda said Mr Sata must be rejected because his kind of politics do not inspire confidence in the Zambian people. He said Mr Sata’s supporters are threatening to shed blood if he loses the September 20 elections.Mr Banda said no true Zambian will want to shed blood over political aspirations.“They have to fall again, we have to defeat them. This is the fourth time Mr Sata is kissing the dust, he has already done so three
times,” President Banda said as the crowd responded: “Yes!”

  7. He said no demagogue will ever be allowed to rule Zambia. Mr Banda said the people of Zambia do not want anarchy, but continuity of the peace they have enjoyed since independence. Mr Banda said he was confident of winning the elections because he has a track record of achievements all over the country. He said he would like the people of Zambia to vote for him based on his achievements during his three years in power, not his tribe.“Vote for me not because I hail from here, but because I am a good servant of the people. I listen and do what the people want,” he told Nyimba residents.

  8. He said the MMD government will do more than it has done in the last three years, given another chance.Mr Banda said MMD will maintain the pace of infrastructure development and provision of social services if it bounces back into power. He said Government intends to create more jobs for youth through public-private partnerships (PPP).President Banda also assured the people that his government will continue to be democratic because this is what the people of Zambia want.“If you vote for us, we will do what we are already doing. If you are not satisfied, we will do more as you elect us next Tuesday,” Mr Banda said.

  9. #4-Tombolilo, you are my man. I like your language.
#2-Victor, Ms Nawakwi seems to have matured into a dependable lady. If either of us were not married, I would have proposed Edith for marriage.

  10. # 1

I feel it is not right to advocate for killing of people in Zambia. We might differ in opinion but let us not by what ever means talk about weapons and killings. I hate all people who advocate for blood shed in Zambia. You said PF members should gather their weapons and get ready for bloodshe? That is bad and am sure most of the PF supporters do not agree with your policy, Please Lets us advocate for peace and Love. If there are any MMD cadres who are also advocating for bloodshe please stop it now. I humbly request #1 to apologies for his statement please

  11. No one will get up to fight and spill blood just so that a prefered political candidate can go to Plot 1 OR Manda Hill to own a VX and earn gratutity…the truth of the matter is that PF and their vuvuzela the POST failed to correctly gauge the strength of MMDs campaign strategy, in terms of organisation, material etc MMD have really pushed this card plus the developments it has given them a lead the smiling face of RB sales better than one who appears angry..Membe ought to have known better..but because he allowed emotion to rule he killled our hope..the PACT..come 20 September MCS and HH will be defeated but together they could have won by a landslide we all know that. Membe should have sat the two together and cemented the hope..now its too late..bye bye SATA

  12. Fortunately for us, PF cadres are too cowardly to mount up a sustained revolution. After the humiliating defeat on 20th Sept, they’ll simply retreat into their homes and accept the defeat of their over-rated candidate. I doubt if they have the courage of the Ivorians or Libyans. Even the sound of a toy gun is enough to make them scatter and run into hiding! So for all those who are worried about violence and blood shed, be rest assured that it will be peaceful and calm.

  13. Yes the presidential candidates should have two speeches with them; as a winner or as a looser. Especially sata who is likely to make some noise (from below) after loosing

  14. Desperate men do desperate things. Who seems to be desperate between Mr Sata and RB? Who wants the Presidency at any cost having never been President before and age and time is not on his side? Who has lost 3 elections before and will not take ‘No’ for an answer from the Zambian people? There are dark, very dark clouds gathering over Zambia. The only way there can be peace is if PF wins, even by a very small margin. Going by blogs from ‘educated’ PF supporters, I have no hope of ssing the kaponyas on the streets, accepting defeat. If RB wins, he must win by at least 10% to silence Sata for good. So HH supporters, vote RB and keep Sata out and Zambia at peace. HH will have his day in 2016.

  15. All PF cadres taking machetes from Sata to murder fellow Zambians starting Tuesday night, be advised that…. As some wise Zambian puts it, your Sata is not worth killing a fellow Zambian for unless you are talking in your dreams. If anything, there are enough “taser guns, water canonized battle front vehicles to sedate and jam your murderous souls for many hours which Police, Paramilitary, Soldiers, ZNS, Airforce and Commandoes being deployed in proximity will use against thugs.

  16. Be warned that if you are a case of a heart attack patient like Sata is, you may not survive your own wished mayhem if found in it. The incidence at DEC where Sata and Mpombo went into phatting and peeing modes from mere tear gas canisters effect may be nothing to the battle against machete welding PF marauders will get from peace loving Zambians. If we nailed Mushala, Simbende and the Leshina brigades, what of you PF marauders trolling against Zambian lives?

  17. What is wrong with RB and Siliya, every time they talk about leadership or any important issue, they have to compare it to SEXUAL INTERCOURSE!. This is a very dangerous time we living in to be encouraging unprotected sex with a strange just because she undresses naked for you. HIV and AIDS is ravaging our country and a leader is going around encourage sex instead of abstinence. I think these two are addicted to sex and need some therapy.

    • EVEN THANDI IS USING SAME LANGUAGE OF CHILDREN OF THE BED ROOM NABANA BA CHIGOLOLO! DIRTY MINDS CANNOT THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE SEXMANIACS!!!!

  18. FELLOW COUNTRY MEN, WOMEN AND YOUTH, EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE WISELY. VOTE FOR THE WINNING TEAM, RB AND MMD. VOTE FOR THE FIRST NAME ON THE PRESIDENTIAL BALLOT PAPER: BANDA RUPIAH B.

    PA NKOOOOOOOOOOOLOOOOOOOOOOOOKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PALI LAKA
