The Patriotic Front -PF- has taken 60 seats from the 148 seats which where contested for.

The MMD is second after taking 55 seats with 6 being female and 49 are male members of parliament.

28 seats have gone to the UPND with 2 female MPs and 26 male legislators.

The Alliance for Democracy and Development -ADD- together with the Forum for Democracy and Development has 1 seat each.

3 seats have been taken up by independent members of parliament.

This is according to a summary statement issued by ECZ Public Relations Manager Cris Akufuna in Lusaka on Saturday.

National Assembly elections did not take place in two constituencies in Nakonde and Magoye because of the death of some contesting candidates.

The two constituencies will hold deferred elections.

  1. Democracy is alive and well in Zambia. An MMD and UPND alliance in Parliament will make life very hard for PF. And after PF’s treatment of UPND then this is a distinct option…

  2. This is a very healthy Democracy!
Lets only hope that now PF is in power they will be mature and level headed.
This kind of Democracy is what drives countries forward as decisions will have to be unanimous and will consider different types of thoughts and groups of people and PF wont have full freedom to alter laws and constitution.

  3. This is just how parliament is supposed to be, no easy ride for the government of the day. It means there’s likely to be a lot of development in Zambia because PF gov will have to compromise and many issues. Now lets work on the constitution, it needs serious changes.

  4. A Nigerian national who was in the dark world but now been saved and born again, who has seen the light and feels the need to speak as keeping quiet will be a betrayal of the new found faith and beliefs has said a Prominent Leader in Zambia knows him well.
“We have done alot of evil things together. He knows and I know. Alot of Zambians will be sacrificed just before the elections. The recent spate of senseless deaths on the Zambian roads, children drowning, a thief getting burnt and a worker getting killed by a conveyor are not ordinary. There is a deeper, darker hand at play and there is an underlying reason – the request by the Leader to our former master to do all in his power to get him the Presidency. More deaths will come and surely wont make sense.

    • Ba “EVIL AT WORK” (@ 6,7,8) Indeed YOU are at work. What you are writing here is nonsense. Go back to Nigeria and put that house in order then come to Zambia and tell us about our democratically elected leader (43% of total national vote; as opposed to this nonsense you are scribbling here.

  5. flag EVIL AT WORK says:
Sun Sep 25 at 6:02 pm

The Leader knows the master personally. If he wins the election, the master has asked the Leader to cancel the Christian Nation declaration within 90 days. Further, the grand master will sustain the life of Mr.Sata for only 3 years after which he will die and should be replaced by a single woman. The Christian nation declaration has put Zambia on a collision path. This Leader has been given power to be liked. People’s liking for Satan’s chosen one nee He will be praised by people he insults. He will threaten people and they will laugh and kiss his feet. This is pure evil at play. The very people who have been fighting his evils over the years will embrace him. President Banda is at threat of satanic forces. Pray for your Nation.”

  6. on inauguration Sata thankd the church…which church exactly was he thanking and on top of it he released 2 doves seen to be part of a ritual.
some have gone further to speculate that Zambia will have a first female vice president….a single woman…and she is to take over when he passes in 3 years

    PRAY FOR ZAMBIA

  7. Seriously, I don’t see any fuss or reason for celebration on the number of PF MPs or the advantage of the combined numbers of MMD and UPND MPs. As long as PF is proposing policies intended for the good and well being of our great nation, then we are home and dry. We will be on the lookout for any MP or group trying to frustrate good governance. People voted PF on that basis and we believe with all our concerted efforts they will deliver.
By the way any lazy chap who thinks the 90 days is all about money being offloaded in your pockets is in for a rude shock. You heard the Sata very clearly that you have to brace for hard work. Vamahala vinata!!!

  8. BANE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEIR COUNTRY AND THEIR PIPO WILL ALWAYS BE PATROTIC ESPECIALLY IN MATTERS GOVERNANCE. SO LET THEM BE POSITIVE AND FIGHT FOR THE BETER CAUSE OF MOTHER ZAMBIA THAN MAKING CLICHES IN PARLIAMENT. BANE WE HAVE SUFFERED FOR SO LONG AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CLICHES IN THE HOUSE, SO THIS TIME ATLEAST SHOW THAT YOU ARE THERE TO REPRESENT THE POOR PIPO WHO VOTED FOR GUYZ AND SEND YOU THERE AS THERE MESSENGER. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS SEROUSLY

  9. Where did the author get this data from? MMD has 1 seat in eastern province? I thought Dora won and chipata central also went to MMD among others so where’re those figures coming from?

    • The ruling party has 18 seats on the Copperbelt, 14 seats in Northern province, 13 seats in Luapula province, 8 in Lusaka, 3 in central province, and 1 seat each in Eastern and North Western provinces. The ruling party referred to here is PF.

  10. I can now see MMD and UPND going into a serious pact, then float HH in 2016 and assume power. The weakness PF will have in Parly will be low numbers once the opposition gang up. They will feel the same heat MMD used to feel when it comes to voting in Parly. Good example was the constitution which was shot down by the then opposition. Lets wait and see

  11. By the way,  I believe the PF has two seats in Barotseland: Nalolo and Mongu Central; why is it on the list of provinces won by the ruling PF?

  12. Good news the opposition has a majority house vote. MMD at 55 MPs strength past the 53 threshhold for official opposition. status As opposition they will share both the Speaker of the House and all Sub committee Chairships. All PF sponsorships will be short down and bad bills will be outrightly short down.

  14. God is merciful ! Give the people what the want and balance parliament in Favour of Opposition. No funny bills. Can we Pls have 50+1 so that we have a majority President. Must be 50+1 of registered voters list.

  15. # 6 , 7 and 8 Evil at work . You could have tried that one before the elections. It’s OVER !!! Just come to terms with the fact that H.E. Michael Chilufya Sata , chosen by God , is the President of Zambia and yo President . How frightening to think we can reject God’s awesome purpose for our nation out of hard-heartedness,jealous and pride !

  16. Is there a problem with Zambian officials and media of comprension of English? How can you possibly say what you have published even remotely resembles a “final list of elected Members of Parliament following the September 20th tripartite elections”? Or is it just plain laziness on the part of those who report the news? Quite pathetic that we are yet to see the complete list of winners and losers for elections that took place on Tuesday – five days ago!

  17. Ba senior citizen muli chipuba. First go back to school and learn the difference betwee “short” and “shot”. The come back and assume your position of opposition attack dog.

    • FAKE JOURNALIST U ARE SMART, U TELLING YOUR FRIEND TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL. MAY U READ THROUGH YOUR LAST SENTENCE. U WANTED TO SAY THEN, COME BACK AND ASSUME YOUR BS

  18. Ba senior citizen muli chipuba. First go back to school and learn the difference between “short” and “shot”. Then come back and assume your position of opposition attack dog.

  19. #18,19 Just because MMD are the official opposition does not mean that the speaker will be an MMD MP.PF can agree with UPND to make the speaker come from UPND and the deputy from PF.The committee chairs can also be agreed between PF and UPND.

Anything is possible in this situation.PF can also appoint UPND MP’s as ministers. Most decisions require simple majority save for a few which require 2/3 majority.

  20. @6,7,8 evil at work,in every situation the devil is always there, that is why prayer by christians should continue,do you mean accidents didnt happen in mmd s time?infact it was worse in mwanawasa s time, was that sacrifice also?in nigeria there is always war people kill each other with matchets,it that sarcifice?

  21. evil at work, the fact that you are now claiming to be born again, then dont just sit there, oganise prayers and you have more powers than the evil one, fast pray and the devil will be exposed.as christians do not alarm people use your weapons of prayer our God has never failed, why are scared?

  22. Congrats to PF. my only reasonable suggestion is that opposition political parties should give PF space to work for 3 years. This will be reasonable time to assess if they are taking us in the right direction. I am also interested to listen to their first budget as I expect to see some of the key manifesto issuers to appear e.g. reduced PAYE to 25 to 28 percent.

  23. upnd guys relax. the president is the former national secretary of the mmd. i expect the mmd to be assimilated into the pf than mmd joining forces with upnd

  24. ZAMBIA WILL BE RULED BY THE CATHOLICS THRU THEIR CATHOLIC DOCTRINE AS STATED BY PRESIDENT SATA. WHAT ABOUT OTHER CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES, THE PROTESTANTS, EVENGELICALS, SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTS, etc ? food for thought……
