Share

Zambia have been seeded in Pot 2 of the 2012 Africa Cup draws to be conducted on October 30.
Coachless Zambia is in Pot 2 together with Angola, Tunisia and Guinea.

They will be paired with a team from Pot 1 than contains Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and 2012 co-hosts Gabon or Equatorial Guinea.

Pot 3 is the most interesting with the pedigree there unavoidable there in Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Morocco.

Meanwhile, Zambia could face either their 2014 World Cup qualifying opponents Sudan who are in Pot 4.

It doesn’t end there in Pot 4 with a potential rematch with Libya is also likely while Niger and Africa Cup first timers Botswana also in the fray to draw against Zambia in the preliminary group stage of matches.

  1. I WISH DARIO WHEREVER HE WILL GO, HE SHOULD NOT WISH ANY POLITICAL PARTY TO WIN LIKE THE WAY HE WISHED RB TO WIN BECAUSE THINGS CAN BACKFIRE.

  2. Kenneth Malitoli still plays soccer? I wish!!! “Bubble” Malitoli’s generation brought smiles to Zambians every time they hit the football pitch—I miss those days.

Any way, good luck guys, hopefully miracles will be performed this time. We have waited too long for the silver to come to Zambia for once—-let us go and do it this time, guys!! There is no Nigeria or Egypt who seem to always kicked us out when it matters most!!

  3. Regardless of what the coach said, he shouldn’t have been fired before the tournament. Any coach needs time to know his players so that he can select the best team. The incoming coach has a few months to know the team which may be fatal.
We need to prepare adequately for this tournament or else we will be embarrassed.

  4. Any group is turf to beat and Zambia need to focus by analzing each team in their group before they start looking out side their group. I know and see some people are already celebrating that Nigeria or Egpty are not there dosen’t meanthe rest of the countries are sitting down and relaxing. If they really need it so bad? This is time to go to work and have the team ready tomorrow in preparation for 2012 Cup. If they are serious they should have scouts ready to these teams in their group now and assembling a strong team. Good lucky and enjoy the rest of the tounarment.

  5. # 5. Vigilant citizen. What planet do you live on. A coach worth his salt in The 21 st centuray has access to Video’s or film as we call it here of all ama matches Zambia has played in the last couple of months or year to study players. lame excuses of knowing players is rubbish. Coaches on teams for years still struggule !

  6. its gonna be a good pick..hahahaha..ambia is a good team but just lacks confidence..we need a coach with alot of interest!

  7. If we can’t reach the finalz and possibly win the the Africa Cup this time around, then we will never ever have a better chance this generation.

  8. OUR HE SATA WE WANT EVERYTHING TO BE OWNED OR MANAGED BY ZAMBIANS. WE NEED A ZAMBIAN COACH. EVEN WHEN WE HIRE WHITES WE STILL LOSE.

K100M MINIMUN FOR A ZAMBIAN COACH.

VIVA PF. DONCHI KU TELL THEM

  9. The mentality that an expatriate coach is better than a national is brainwash and must stop. The idea that we can pay millions to an expatriate and hope to pay less to a local is also primitive. Budget for the coach before you know his color, that is planning for the position. Then look for someone who can deliver, Zambian or not. our problem in Zambia is jelousy and unsportsmanship. The fans are a problem because we do not know how to lose. Work hard and win or have no confidence and lose. Do not dwell in the past misfortunes. Too much unconstructive criticism. We have had teams of the same quality as those that won the cup, but it was not just our time. Sometimes best teams don’t win. Zambia is always good at playing to impress rather than play to win. Winning requires self sacrifice.

    • Zambia has well been known to be a footballing nation, the only sad aspect is when people tend to bring in politics in the game which is supposed to be a uniting factor to everyone despite our political dispensation.Being a person who has played football though not at an international level,I feel a player needs administrators who can understand each and every prayer and put the player at his natural position on the field and not trial and error on the pitch, for this I think a local coach is more favourable to handle the team as he understands the Zambian football, though they put personal interest first in selecting the team not on merits

  10. Make me Zambian technical advisor today, we would bring the African cup home, and for the first time qualify to the world cup. Not just qualify to go there and do nothing, but leave a mark there. Zambia needs people who think positive like this in order to win games. Zambia is a respected name in soccer and should utilize that advantage. We have no excuse to lose anytime. We have the same boys, same age. Others are not from a different planet. It is do or die. Team spirit, creativeness, self-sacrifice, and scoring goals is what Zambia needs against any team in the world, andwe are good to go. Don’t fear the mention of other teams.
