Vice President Guy Scott has told parliament that the 2012 national budget will be presented to Parliament in the next 21 days. Dr. Scott said that issues of job creation, government expenditure and taxation among others will be explained in detail during the presentation of the national budget by the Minister of Finance Alexander Chikwanda in the next three weeks.

The Vice President was responding to Mafinga MMD Member of Parliament Catherine Namugala who wanted to know how many jobs the Patriotic Front government intends to create in 90 days of taking office. This was during the 30 minutes Vice President’s question time in Parliament.

And on the new constitution, Dr. Scott has said that the PF government’s view at the moment is for the country to go for a referendum after the committee of experts has made recommendations on what should be in the new constitution.

Dr Scott said that the document will then be tabled before parliament for enactment. Dr. Scott was responding to Solwezi East MMD Member of Parliament Richard Taima who wanted to know the road map for the adoption of the new constitution.

Dr Scott has also asked the Minister of Labour, Sport and Youth Fackson Shamenda to issue a ministerial statement on the way forward for the Football Association of Zambia-FAZ.

Dr. Scott was responding to Moomba UPND Member of Parliament Vitalis Mooya who wanted to know the way forward for the Zambia National Soccer Team. Earlier, Mr. Mooya says the football house is embroiled in squables and that the coach has been fired.

  1. Lets see what comes in that Budget. But i only hope the big man won`t doze off during presentation,i mean the Finance Bwana!

  2. Plz you should also look into PAYE and VAT, Increase the exempt amount on PAYE. We are waiting this is our Government.

  3. We are busy waiting for that,…PF shud show these MMD and UPND how it is supposed to be done. The budget shud clear show how many jobs will be created in one year, two years and so on. At least we now have people who are seriouse with running this great country forward..i urge y’all to rally behind the PF govenment so we can develop the country

  4. This serves as a chance for the PF to show who their mettle. I this is the basis on which they will be judged. Secondly, they will be judged on the ability to enforce the 50 + 1 clause they so dearly desired. Thank you Dr. Scot, this is the most productive statement from the new government thus far, keep the promise of lower taxes and ensure that your austerity measures go deeper than simply trimming cabinet as that is so immaterial to the economy. If austerity package will be weak, the books will fail to balance because less tax means less governement expenditure.

  5. #2 Don chi chi… no need to ask all to rally behind PF. All Pf needs to do is fulfill the promises they made during campaigns and  Zambia will be all theirs, without that you will be begin to see a shift to either UPND or MMD. So all PF needs is to deliver and stop wasting time on talk, talk and no action. Good luck PF.

  6. 50+1 may not be good for Zambia. Imagine if it applied to 2011, we would be having a re-run of elections as it were, and MMD could have connived with UPND in the re-run. The re-run is not only expensive but it could also cause some political instability in the country. From teh look of things PF supporters were not willing to accept defeat.

  7. Patience pays. The budget and road map of constitution is promised within 90 days which can be seen as achievable from the rate the GVT is excuting duties. Just be ready for the inputs.

  8. MMD members of parliament should be the last people (for now) to inquire on PF’s job creation programme within their 90 days of being in office, ba Namugala please leave it to other people to ask such questions for now. MMD (you inclusive) had been in power for 20yrs, how many jobs were created then. Cathrine please keep it for later. FAZ/coach issues are pointing to state house linking James Banda (former president’s son), let us see how it will be resolved now. Tatulefwaya political interference

  9. WHEN THE PF GOVT HAS SETTLED DOWN,I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A RECONCILLED ZAMBIA.
TRY TO MEET THOSE THAT ARE PROVED TO VE MISUSED/ABUSED/STOLEN STATE RESOURCES AND OFFER THEM AN OLIVE BRANCH.TIME AS WE KNOW CANT BE REVERSED BUT LETS BUILD A UNITED AND RECONCILLED NATION.WE VE GOT KIDS WHO ARE GROWING UP.ALL POLITICAL PLAYERS SHOULD MEET AT MAKING ZAMBIA A BETTER NATION FOR ALL AND A SYMBOL OF TRUE DEMOCRACY.LETS CROSS THE TRIBAL LINE WITH LOVE AS EXHIBITED BY INTER-MARRIAGES.GOD BE WITH ZAMBIA,AMEN.

  10. Hon namugala you could have said how many jobs MMD created ,you sound like a novice, ask something big next time i know you will do better .

  11. The speaker should prepare an ambulance on the day for budget presentation because I can foresee the Finance Minister collapsing due to loud voices of the Kambwilis. Guy scott seem not to have energy to state solutions. George kunda was trying. Scott is just being fed with what to say in parliament. He has no much knowledge.

  12. WE WANT TO SEE A GOOD BUDGET THAT WILL NOT DERAIL THE ECONOMIC PROGRESS THE COUNTRY ACHIEVED UNDER MMD. THIS IS NO TIME FOR EXPERIMENTS. BOB SICHINGA I HOPE YOU ARE READING THIS BLOG. THREE WEEKS IS NOT A VERY LONG PERIOD. WE NEED A BUDGET THAT WILL BRING POSITIVE CHANGE AND RESULTS. WE NEED A NATIONAL AIRLINE WHICH SHOULD PRIVATE DRIVEN WITH GOVT PUTTING IN PLACE POLICIES THAT WILL ENSURE SECURITY IN THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY. YOU CANT HAVE A MIDDLE INCOME COUNTRY WITH RUN DOWN RAILWAY SYSTEM AND NO NATIONAL AIRLINE.

  13. My Party is being known for rush rush jobs and appointments. We won’t accept blunders here Please prepare well for budget.
