MINISTER of Finance Alexander Chikwanda is ready to present the first budget of the Patriotic Front (PF) government in Parliament this Friday. And the British government says it will increase development aid to Zambia by 15 percent, which is about 235 million pounds for the period ending 2015.
Ministry of Finance public relations officer Chileshe Kandeta said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday the ministry will ensure all the relevant documentation is ready for the presentation of the 2012 budget.
“In the last few days, we have spent substantial time with the minister, and I can confidently confirm that he is in good spirits and more than ready to present the first budget of the PF government on Friday, November 11, 2011,” Mr Kandeta said.
He said the ministry has completed the technical analysis and synchronisation of development guidelines of the new government in the national budget.
And British Minister of State for International Development Andrew Mitchell says his government will work with its Zambian counterpart to address lagging Millennium Development Goals using a combination of cash transfers, maternal mortality interventions and other programmes aimed at improving water and sanitation.
He pledged British support in removing the barriers to wealth creation and investment in Zambia. “The current overall focus of our programme is on making growth more inclusive, tackling inequality, especially in rural areas, combating corruption and improving accountability. These priorities are very closely aligned with those in President Sata’s statements and the PF manifesto,” Mr Mitchell said.
Mr Mitchell said the measures taken by the Zambian government to date are an indication of its seriousness to spend taxpayers’ money on achieving real poverty reduction and a better society for all.
Russian Ambassador to Zambia Boris Malakhov has also described Zambia as one of the best investment destinations in Africa because of its political stability and good climate.
During a meeting with Mr Chikwanda, Irish Ambassador to Zambia Tony Cotter also described President Sata as a consistent and strong leader who has determination to fight corruption and better the local economy.
Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Yuxiao Zhou said his government has been financing the structural maintenance of the TAZARA railway line every year.
He said the Chinese government will help Zambia with the sinking of boreholes in rural areas, renovating hydropower stations, building apartments for medical personnel at the Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital, building additional classes and a library at Confucius Centre at the University of Zambia, primary schools and high schools targeted at technical and vocational training.

More for Northern Province in honour the founding father Kennenth Kaunda and serial tribalist Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe hence the creation of Muchinga province so that the benefits are not enjoyed by Mambwes,Namwangas,Tumbukas etc.Watch this space.catholics in total control of state affairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

watch this space PF will have majority soon and very soon…You hate the other tribes yet you claim to be God fearing….for you to rule zambia you will have to get rid of other 71 tribes which is an impossbility
People should be analytical in the way they judge issues, PF has been in power for only 48 Days, they have made few blunders the worst of which was the inclination to bring in saviour Chingu but this bumeranged against Michael and he has since reformed. All I can say is that we have to give these Guys Time after all we are not going anywhere to be in such a hurry to have things done in 48 days. so lets wait, if the PF is not good for us we shall see that in due course but for now they are the best altenative.
Lets have a look at the Budget as well, it will give us some good leads
no money in your pockets..!
hahaheeeee…is it more money or No money in our pockets?
Zambians please, lets be united and support the current govt. let us not wait for the mistake but we pray for the president and his govt so that God can help him to meet the promises he made to the nation. It’s very easy to find a fault in somebody if you are really looking for it.The only thing that can help us is to pray for our leaders more especialy our president.
amen to that
we shall see, but “Donchi Kudabwa” at the budget
Don’t kudabwa more pockets for your money!!
the level of debate in a nation on national matters will give one signs if a nation is ready to move or not. Budget is an impotant indicator which direction the govt will take in the finanacial year being prposed. I hope it is not true that more resources will go in one or two provinces just to benefit those as that will be the begining of hard times in the nation as a whole. MPs are to represent people in ensuring that they get a fair share of the national cake (budgetary allocation). Pls MPs stop supporting anything which does not benefit your constuencies which voted for you. I hope this will be a fair budget and not one which is regional in making
The creation of Muchinga Province will bring efficiency in the way resources are deployed and used. Northern province is too big for effective management. Districts in Muchinga province will be better run and in the long term, development will reach them faster. In the same vein, the centrality of Choma as a provincial capital of the Southern province will improve efficiency. Imagine you work in itezhi-tezhi and you are required to go to the provincial capital in Livingstone! Choma already has the Ministry of Agriculture provincial headquarters, so it will be quite easy to do the same for other ministries. If anything, this was in the plan from a long time ago; it’s just that implementation required the courage that Sata has.
Donchi Kuvulula..jst swallow whatever pf presents
Most PF cadrs are busy defending what can’t be defended!! If i may ask to what end are you defending the blunders? PF is in GRZ and can benefit more from constructive critisism than from your praises of their mistakes. In the end you the PF cadres will suffer.
This is the last chance for PF to try and convince us that they know what they are doing.
# 1, you don’t even know demography and yet you want to spew your ignorance boadering on “inciting genocide” here on this blog. Who told you that the birth place of KK and Kapwepwe are in Northern Province? The new province, Muchinga is devided by the Chambeshi river which places Chinsali, Mpika, Isoka, Nakonde, Muyombe etc in the new province. Imwe mwefibantu fyaku South kwati mwalilwala pantu you do not even understand yourselves.
Zambians please, lets be united and support the current govt. let us not wait for the mistake but we pray for the president and his govt so that God can help him to meet the promises he made to the nation. It’s very easy to find a fault in somebody if you are really looking for it.The only thing that can help us is to pray for our leaders more especialy our president
You are so shallow. Go back into the bamba you escaped from
@ GK. KK was born in Chinsali at LUBWA MISSION tho he is not Bemba. However, pipo should not see anything tribal in dividing NP. The area is jst too vast some of us who hav gone round the province can testify.
country men of all tribes ignore these tribalists who are bent on bringing havoc, they are too shallow the only power they have is hiding behind their key boards . 1 zambia one nation, if you don,t like PF because you are tribal TOUGH GO JUMP ON A RAIL LINE AND WAIT FOR THE TRAIN…….PF ni boma another 3 terms, rant, bark, insult all you like, nothing u gonna do will stop PF improving with time
Naked you celebrated Sata’s victory, naked you will remain! Instead of more money in your pockets, now it is no clothes to cover your nakedness! So far Sata and his colleagues have done nothing to inspire economic growth. Sata and his cohort are failing to live up to all the hype they created. Most of you were just excited with all those cheap slogans! Donchi Kubeba! Pabwato! Lekeni Sata atake! Now its payback time! You reap what you sow! Some of us will continue working hard to earn our living while you continue waiting on Sata to provide all the goodies he promised you for doing nothing except voting him into power!
It is nauseating to see same old recycled politicians doing same things that they did on independence day, 47 years ago. Do they think us young ones are useless? Give us chance please.
BC i dont think three terms will be possible for PF as all the guys are too old. by then they would be moving on walking sticks and sense will be little then. they wouldnt think by then, look, sata is finished, the vp is finished, the ministers are finished. sure bonse fye ninkote sheka sheka why what three terms for such nkalambas. ni boza chabe.
Musonda@22 its a trend in politics for a ruling party to do 3 terms, as they have the govt mechanizm at their disposal.PF has the likes of Lubinda and Kabimba to see them achieve their objectives, but then again how sure are we the nkalambas will let go of power my friend we can only hope they do the right thing. We do not have a proper opposition and believe me PF will crush them all like mmd did to unip, despite the canadian flag l live in the UK l tell u the word Labour is like a plague at present
More money in the pockets.-government to put up policies that will create jobs, allowing people to invest in private business, having low bank rates to allow people to borrow, lower production cost, increase production, increase invest, lower the cost of living and improving the standard of living.Thats what i know about this concept and am seeing it coming. On Chungu. The issue is not about Xavier Chungu but the policy direction about the fight against corruption. He may be in government not corrupt but the policy may not be percieved seriously by people. Thats what made MMD a corrupt government by ever including people like VJ in government.
