Share

Zambia held its first full day of training on Thursday after arriving in India early on Wednesday morning.

Herve Renard’s team is in India on a 7 day training camp where they will play two warm-up games on Saturday and Tuesday.

Team manager Stan Kaseko said from Goa that the team was in good health.

“We started from there on Tuesday and arrived in Goa on Wednesday at 05:00 in the morning,” Kaseko said.

He said the team got down to the business of training late on Wednesday after resting.

Kaseko said the team of Thursday held a full days training on Thursday and the routine will continue on Friday.

On Saturday, Zambia will play Goa-select in an 11:30 Zambian time kickoff before taking on India on Tuesday at the same venue.

Meanwhile the team traveled to India without Konkola Blades midfielder Thomas Nyirenda who suffered an injury two weeks ago while preparing for the Nigeria friendly.

Nyirenda was replaced by defender Oswald Kalamba of DR Congo club Lupopo.

  1. The so called Great Kalu has all these contacts and he is unable to get matches from any of his contemporaries! His friend Jack Warner pulled in a couple of millions (in Dollars) worth of projects in his native country! Even the former Vice President of FIFA managed to get the World Cup to Qatar! Perhaps, Kalu will bring the world Cup to Zambia? That will be the day- even RB will come back and say, I am the one who employed Kalu!

  2. #1 MB, what are you bragging about? Leave Kalu alone, concentrating on watching football..
HR please watch that Lumpopo player, he may be good on left back or the troubled holding mid-fielder.

  3. Selako utambe ubupuba na ba mwenye! Where in the world have you ever heard any team playing India! After the Asian Cup in 1964, India went downhill. Failure in a many qualification tournaments meant that the next time India reached a quarter-final stage was as host in the 1982 Asian Games. The Indian Football Team does not have a permanent stadium as of 2011 due to so many football stadium not meeting FIFA guidelines. Kalu’s contemporaries all have serious football academies! Abedi Pele even has a son who plays top class football. Even former mate, Charles Musonda who is Belgium and will be playing top class football! Perhaps, Kalu has a daughter who will play excellent netball!

  4. Ghana play against Brazil for warm up matches, Nigeria play against England, South Africa play against Argentina, and who do we play against…..INDIA of all teams in the world. And you wonder why we have never won any competitions other than cosafa. Decision making in FAZ is amazing!!!

  5. We are better off playing a small nation like Burkina Faso , Botswana or Even Mali than going to India. Unless it is Cricket. But knowing Zambians being one of them this must be a fully expenses paid for tip with appreance fees going to FAZ and yes you guessed right and some ones pocket. Usless leadership in my opinion !

  6. #4 tuvi; you have spoken the wisdom of the day. Of all places and teams going to India. Bana Zed, always thinking against nature. Is there no one in the technical team who can risk for us and go for great things. This world cup would have been our opportunity to shine. Now chita basa!

  7. You always reap what you sow, maybe one day we shall be great in cricket, I am meant to believe that Great Kalu’s focus is a long term project and not next year’s AFCON, becoz I can just connect.

  8. # 1 thats an empty comment, how can one man bring the world cup to Zambia? This is the same country that has failed the host CAN despite of competing in the event for a number of years. The money used for camping in India could be used to build or upgrade stadiums in Zambia. I am sick of hearing the national and you team camping in SA. If FAZ is serious about winning the CAN, long distance camping will make the players tired of travelling hence performance when the game will start. Some years back they missed xmas party on national duty but failed to bring the cup home, they were first team to arrive and knocked off in the preliminary stage = too long camping = players home sick, tired of numerous training time.
