Britain’s royal family will tour the globe next year to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond jubilee marking 60 years on the throne, Buckingham Palace announced.

According to the Buckingham Palace Prince Andrew, the queen’s second son, will visit India while Princess Anne, her daughter, will visit Mozambique and Zambia.

In what is likely to be the most high-profile part of the itinerary, William – the queen’s grandson and second in line to the throne, will travel with his wife Catherine to Malaysia, Singapore, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.

Prince Edward,The Queen’s youngest son, and his wife Sophie will visit the Caribbean.

The queen’s first cousin Edward, the Duke of Kent, will visit the Falkland Islands in the southern Atlantic Ocean.

The Queen and Philip will remain in the UK for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations but make an extensive tour of every region supported by the Royal Family.

The Queen will be 86 in April and the Duke, who turns 91 next year, has already publicly stated he is reducing his workload.

The Queen came to the throne on Febuary 6, 1952 and was crowned on June 2, 1953.She celebrated her Silver Jubilee 25 years in 1977 and her Golden Jubilee 50 years in 2002.

The only other British monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria in 1897.Queen Victoria is the great-great-grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II and she reigned for 63 years.

  1. PLEASE…LET THESE PEOPLE NOT BRING GAYISM AND LESBIANISM IN OUR COUNTRY……..BESIDES WE DONT EVEN NEED THEIR VISITS…

  2. These guys still think we are still a colony! I would appreciate Bush coming yes because he is doing something for the country, what is this mug coming for other than to enjoy our sun?

If I was HE MCS, I would send RB to meet them.

  3. all you think is negative for once change your mind set other wise you will never progress thy are just celebrating idoits

  5. Doycino learn to spell first otherwise you will never progress, don’t call people names that you can’t spell.
So why do you think they are coming to former colonies as part of the celebration? Since you are the only one being positive about the CELEBRATION. Read your history books and do you think these people have ever done anything nice without some hidden agenda.

  6. this should not be news at all. how many people are traveling everyday everywhere how we do not read about? my uncle is also traveling on saturday, from mbala to livingstone.

  7. yes you are still colonised .That why when they tell you to uphold gay rights before you see their money — You have NO concrete National position to that.

  8. #7 Napapa sana, You are so right and am leaving for Luwingu, People travel everyday, We seem to love the colonizers too much and our chiefs travel all the time, now we are made to read about the queens cousins, nieces and whoever. How does that affect the price of eggs in China really.

  12. Mushota and Nick are the only ones that do not want to go to Zambia. Everyone wants to go there. Ever seen the recently opened Levy Mwanawasa Junction shopping mall in Lusaka? Beautitful! Wonderful peace of achitectural works and construction. Of international standards. Visit your country guys and be proud of it. You will be lost.

    • An Austrian was asking me about how easy it is for a Zambian to get a visa to Britain being a former colonizer!! i just said, it is shit!!! it is far much easier to get a visa to Germany than Britain. Those fools think Britain is heaven. I tried, but gave up in process.

  13. My friend Elizabeth, I cannot call you queen because I do not believe that a family must be more special than another.
The reason Britain cannot be as powerful as the US is because the position of prome minister is undermined.
Yes, you ruled us, but there is nothing nice about your presence, go and solve your debt crises!

  14. @JOB- You need religious aid. Actually, Zambia will never uphold gay rights, at least in the foreseeable future. Once the democrats come out office, the whole thing will die down. Republicans do not support homosexuality.

  15. The visit will indeed have a positive effect on the tourism industry. We still need the monarch and UK in the race to national development. We should not be myopic but rather embrace our former colonial masters. Yes.

    • people will be able to visit zambia, with or without a visit of a royal family member!! embrace your colonier masters???? OMG

  16. At least! Is she coming for a holiday? What of our new colonisers? When is the Chinese president coming to view his new spoils? Ala this princess is old and toothless, why so much complaining?

  17. WHAT HAS HER VISIT GOT TO DO WITH ZAMBIAN. IF IT WERE OUR PRESIDENT MCS PLANNING TO VISIT BRITAIN NEXT YEAR JUNE, WOULD THAT BOTHER THEM. GUSH! WE HAVE TOURISTS VISITING OUR COUNTRY ALMOST EVERY AND THAT DOES NOT BOTHER ANY. NOMBA ATI NIBA PRINCESS! TO HELL WITH HER VISIT, AFTER ALL SHE WILL NOT EVEN BE ON ANY DEVELOPMENTAL TOUR.

  18. The PF government has really changed the image of Zambia internationally. Recently Bush and his family were here. Now the British royal family. keep the spirit la commandent

  19. Why do people always feel they should receive something from the visit? Is it a Zambian mentality to always beg or what? I’m a bit confused.

  20. Rather than being negative and living in the past , let the British Royals come freely and see how great Zambia is now that we are a free and independant Nation …… they will then talk and encourage tourism + investment = more money coming into Zambia . This is a good thing.

  21. Why are you all complaining about what you cannot change. Its friday get a life and be merry. Its the festive season and not the sulky season. @ 15 Thanks for the best wishes. Best wishes and a fantastic new Year to you and all Bloggers.

  22. @ number 5 Mabvuto hahahahahaha that is what Friday needs good humor. Thank you bloggers for telling of the four inferiority COMPLEX! infused individuals. She is their queen and princes not ours. Our king Ni baChiuta. For you non Senga’s and Thumbuka. I said our King is our Lord God Jehovah. Plus we knew Jesus way before even land spying David livingstone ever tried to rename our Mosi-O-Tunia.

  23. :) just make sure we control the filming as the western press so love those starving Africans preferably with fly on face images. Use the opportunity to show our country in a balanced light and make some headway as we host world tourism conference in 2013. I’ll be sure to get a stand there and do some positive selling. All welcome in Zed if there for positive reasons. It is of amusement to note negative views from those who live in foreign lands. Is being there making you feel blacker? The west has a way of churning those feelings as we do not grow up ‘black’ or ‘African’ but as people then you hit the west and learn how mentally ahead Zambia made you. Forget the colonial mentality. It’s all good :) Hope we soon start teaching our history from books without foreign names. Hmm. Write!

  24. Whats the bone of contention here? Whether the royal family are a reminder of the colonial days or represent neo-imperialism or not, I don’t rememer the govt. banning them from visiting Zambia. If you think it is not news, why read and comment so much about it? In so far as I abor the atrocities of the past against our people, I think in this instance it is futile to flog a dead horse. We should rather be directing our energy towards how we can move forward in addressing our poverty levels and positioning ourselves strategically within the global village.
